My HD2 is almost useless right now, sense wont start, hard buttons stopped working, cannot sync with windows media center, list goes on...
phone has been working with no problems for 6 months.
Am about ready to hard reset.
I need a way to backup the file that windows 6.5 saves ALL the calender information ( from the very first entry ever to the most recent) so that after I hard reset I would be able to just overwrite the default blank file with the old one and see them all again(calender entries).
same goes with contacts.
Microsoft my phone has stopped working, says cannot connect (0x85010001), along with a number of other programs( including Windows Marketplace). Ideally I could get microsoft my phone to work again and i would just back it up there....
connection problems (including that my wifi works, connects to my router, but once connected, it kills my internet connection on the router and is only restored once i disconnect my HD2 from it) started when i installed one of those kill all data programs when i was travelling and didnt want to accidentally use data while roaming. If there is any way to restore all connection setting for program allowances and default wifi settings, please help as well, this may be the ticket to get microsoft My phone to work.
im dieing....phone turned from a dream to a nightmare of a headache.
any help will be ultra appreciated
hey try and give the battery a pull also remove the sd card. Put battery back in, make sure your drivers for wmdc are up to date so the phone can connect to the computer properly. also usb mode should be set to activesync. assuming wmdc can connect you could simply sync outlook with you phone backing up everything you choose including contacts and calendar entries.

Activesync just keeps trying to connect and is never successful. I have re-installed Activesync on my pc but it didn't help. Also, my work pc doesn't connect either. Definately a problem with my 8125. All has been well for a couple months and I have added no new software before the problem started. This problem also happened about two weeks after I got the phone and the only resolution was a hard reset. What a pain reinstalling all the software and settings I have now, it's customized just the way I like it. Anyone know how to re-install Activesync on JUST the phone or have any other ideas?
Try the latest activesync 4.2 beta and disable any firewalls if possible on the pc. On the device start activesync application and go to menu\options - delete pc that you are syncing with and try again.
Deleted profiles on both pcs installed beta on one. Still no connecting. Tried clicking SYNC on phone, pauses for a second then nada. No connection.
Have you deleted profiles on the device? and disable firewalls, and if you have a network adapter enable it because latest activesync treats the connection with device as a network - there are many posts on this issue do a search and read through some - seem to be many different factors involved.
First- Thanks for the replies Mark
I removed the PC profiles from my 8125. Also reinstalled Activesync 4.2 on my work pc. Nothing. Although this time I got an error message- Cannot find the file "http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=65257&clcid=0x409" (or one of its components) Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all libraries are available". Like I would know what that means. Anyways, no firewall enabled. Besides, this should not be happening, all of a sudden, on 2 separate pcs. That kinda rules out a pc problem. It has to be in the phone. That, and the fact that a hard reset fixed it last time. I'm thinking something corrupted in Activesync on the phone???
And searching on this forum is useless. I type in "connecting Activesync" and every post with either word shows up. 614 in just Wizard forums alone. Is there a way to search so that ONLY posts with both words show up? That way I can modify my wording until I find something useful. Search for any terms or use query as entered is ticked. On other forums you can just use quotation marks but not this one. It makes searching very difficult. ROB
Oh, and yes my network adapters are still enabled as always.
Yes best to search with the word AND cuts out all the other stuff i.e. activesync AND connection would do it. Yep sounds like it may be the device.

Happy reading, the last post is about connecting activesync via bluetooth so maybe thats an option.
Thanks Mark. I think I may try the bluetooth connection when I get home tonight. Or I may just throw in the towel and do a hard reset. that worked last time. Plus, I can install the latest ROM upgrade. Shame theres no way to uninstall and reinstall Activesync on the phone. Seems that should do the trick (maybe). Just tried my friends 8125 on my work pc- syncs just fine. So much for all the pc fixes everyone seems to be trying.
I had the same problem with AS refusing to connect via usb or BT.
In the end i went & purchased (although the demo version would have done) Sprite backup. installed on the PC. Browsed to the install dir to find the cab file. copied to my wizard (wifi, or sd card reader etc).
Insatlled & backed up to SD card
Hard reset
restore
stop here if you're happy, if not
AS to sync calender & contacts to pc
hard reset
update ROM
AS contacts, cal, docs etc back to wizard
install SW & settings
BACKUP
Yep. Had to hard reset. All is working again. Crappy Activesync. What's up with this P.O.S. ? Trying to setup bluetooth now and the pc finds the phone but AS won't connect. The phone finds the pc (HomeCenter) but it shows no services available. I'm assuming that there should be some listed (maybe Activesync?) Guess I'll have to do some searching for bluetooth problems with AS now. Did I mention that AS is a P.O.S??? But you all knew that already.
Dont forget to open a port in you BT settings (on the pc) and tell AS (also on the pc) to accept connections on that port.
Then your wizard should be able to see the AS service on the pc (you initiate the sync from the phone, not the pc)
I have had this problem since day one, and continue to have it despite several (more than 15) hard resets, multiple ROMs, multiple pertnerships etc. I plug in my PPC USB, and it just says "connecting" forever. Every time, after plugging in my USB, I have to shut off my PPC, and turn it back on. Then my laptop finds and connects with my PPC, and syncs all my data like it should. If I do this more than 3 times, my laptop crashes and reboots. If anyone has figured out how to fix this, let me know.
Hi there,
Over the last few weeks I have had a problem syncing mu phone, I am able to connect and browse and install software via my PC but it refuses to sync, it starts good by saying that it is looking for changes, then it asks me if I want to combine, overwrite and so on and then after I make my selection it simply says 'Synchronization Error' and remains connected but that is it.
I have tried upgrading and downgrading activesync and my ROM, but what ever I do I get the same result, I have tried on another computer also and still the same.
Please help me as I am going mad, it is not quite a brick, bu is not far from it if I can not get my information on to it.
Cheers
Update
After going back anf forth with versions, I managed to do one full sync ( thank God, now I have my data back at least). but now again, it is failing,WHY ? connection exists, browse and so on works, only the sync does not work.
Do you have bluetooth?
I has a similar problem, I setup a sync profile with my PC via bluetooth and synchronised it through BT. After plugging in the cable afterwards my Syncing was fine...
worth a try
syncing problems
I had the same problem but I seemed to work through it by removing the Mobile Sync 4.5 and re-installing it. It looks like it's not working, but after the install bar goes about half way, everything is on, including the calendar and the Outlook Database. Good luck!
WM6 w/ Home, no other hacks that I can think of.
AS 4.5, WinXP
Just as the title says, when I tell it to explore the phone, it just goes to my C: drive on the PC.
I also have My Mobiler running, but it stopped working well before that. In fact, I don't think it's worked in several months, sometime shortly after I upgraded to WM6. Any solutions? Anything I add either has to be done by taking out the card and putting it in my PC, or adding to the 'to be synced' folder.
uninstall active sync and restart the computer then install active sync again. Make sure your device is disconnected during all this. If that doesnt solve it i would try backing up your phone using spb backup and try hard resetting it. The fact you can sync the folder shows that you have a connection. But is that my mobiler? Have you checked the settings options in active sync and made sure that allow connections via usb is selected?
My ActiveSync won't Sync
I found with "Enable faster data synchronization check box" ON then doesn't even start ActiveSync on PC. Instead the LAN icon starts searching for an IP.
if OFF then it tries then ActiveSync says ERROR code 85010001
this page
http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/activesync/exchange_errors.php
says An invalid HTTP communication or protocol syntax occurred.
reboot doesn't help.
Are you sync to Exchange of PC files?
if Exchange, try turn off push update, sync, and turn it back on.
sounds like it's stuck in modem mode or something.. have you tried switching between modes? e.g. put it in modem mode and disk drive and then activesync again..
no Exchange
turned off all except contact/calendar
tried disk drive and then activesync but no good
then tried turning bluetooth off and it worked with with "Enable faster data synchronization check box" off
so still not perfect
The more complex, the more can go wrong. Recently my HD2 has not been running activesync on connection. It is a problem after I have hibernated my PC, but also randomly at other times after a disconnect and reconnect.
Following hte advice above I've tried the change to modem, change to disk and back to activesync, but that did not help. Unchecking the "Enable faster data synchronization check box" has now allowed it to connect.
While activesync was unable to connect, I could still connect using a brilliant little program, sadly not recently updated, called mymobiler. That lets me control the HD2 from my PC< and do screen dumps as well. So how come that would connect but MS Activesync would not? And it was not a new install, I've had that since my first few days of the HD2 and worked well until the last couple of weeks, when this issue has become increasingly annoying.
While activesync was telling me I was disconnected, in the Windows 7 Devices and Printers there was an icon for a "Generic RNDIS" but nothing else about it. When on the HD2 I go back into USB to PC and check the tickbox for "Enable faster data synchronization" that icon reappears. Maybe disabling then enabling this check box has sorted it. Time will tell.
Hmmm...
It is not a new issue with activesync and htc phones. This thread is a year old.
In fact a search of hte web shows htis is common across several makes of phone.
Damn. When I installed HTC's latest hotfix for SMS, it soft reset the HD2.
On restart, the HD2 was not recognised by the PC, but it does show in Devices and Printers as the generic RBIS. So; uncheck the "Enable faster data synchronization" and it appears on the PC as a Generic Serial device, then becomes a live device in the Mobile Device Centre. I guess we won't be using faster then.
What I don;'t understand is why both of the showings in the Devices and Printers are Generic. Surely there is a driver?
argh, now it's broken again, had BT on...
htc has no clue and suggests (again) that I just keep creating a new partnership each time I have this issue (daily)
Are you sync'ing to an external exchaneg server as well as locally?
I had an issue with mine that the external exchange and local seemed to clash some how, I deleted the external and all internal connections from the phone's active sync screen and then the local PCwas able to re sync, then added each of the other conections and made sure that there where no contradictions in the syncing rules?
Maybe not your issue but worth mentioning!

I regret this is incomprehensible. "nowt" means nothing, so you are saying that nothing is broken again. That would be good, not bad. Your post then stops part way through and concludes negatively against HTC, though for no reason whatsoever. Please could you repost with something that makes sense?
I have no exchange servers, just local PC,
but all errors are exchange related, so HTC say.
if you dont have an exchange server then remove it completely ftom the list of sync locations (i cant remember how you do this, but its the same screen where you select what you want to sync). ive found that if it isnt being recognised that removing the phone from device manager list in windows (deleting drivers/software if asked) and reconnecting the phone seems to work. i have my driver install set to use windows update to locate drivers so try this as well
HD2 won't activesync via bluetooth
My LEO do sync properly via USB. Not connect absolutely via BT.
my setting is :
internal GPS connect via COM4 to TomTom7, VisualGPSce, TutorAssist
and seems to be:
bluetooth port IN is COM1
bluetooth port OUT is COM2
In my Notebook the lonely Local port is COM5. No other one is available
ActiveSync Bluetooth connection is set on COM5
So i know this thread is way old but figured id give it a try. The screen cracked on my TP2 and I cant get WMDC to recognize my device to pull the data. I'm pretty sure that enable faster data synchronization is checked and my screens broken so i can't fix that. Is there another way I can access the phone? Any help is appreciated ty.
Windows Mobile Device Centre and Active Sync Connection Problems – HTC HD2 / LEO
Hi All
Introduction:-
I have been and HTC HD2 and I have been having a lot of problems with the WMDC not connecting.
When it initially got the phone it was SIM locked and branded to T-Mobile. I managed to unlock and de-brand it by flashing the ROM. WMDC /ActiveSync worked fine for a while, then it all went ‘pear shaped ‘ regarding connections and syncing the phone to my PC.
I am not a big fan of cloud computing ie Microsoft My Phone online syncing. I like a bit of privacy, so I wanted to sort out the syncing problem. You also need the phone to sync to a PC for installing *.exe programs. Cloud Computing is not much use for that.
The Problem:-
I have 4 PC’s 1 desktop and 3 laptops. The desktop and one of my laptops are running Windows 7 H/P. The other 2 laptops are running Windows XP.
The problem I had showed up on 3 of my PC’s, so I concluded that the problem had to be with the phone. What was happening was, that when I connected my phone WMDC would start up, and then said no connection, and that was it. The WMDC did not offer any reason or suggestions as to why. On the phone, when I navigated to Start/Tools/ActiveSync. The ActiveSync page would flash up for a split second and revert back to the Start screen, this meant that I couldn’t access the ActiveSync on the phone either.
I tried all the usual suspects, ie reloading WMDC soft resetting the phone, connecting the phone first before starting WMDC, blah!!!, blah!!!, blah!!!.
Solution:-
It was apparent that the only option was a hard reset, however, a hard reset would totally wipe my phone and all my settings that I had spent ages (my wife was not too pleased about the time spent) setting up.
First I, used spb backup.to back up my phone settings. I copied the CAB file onto my to my Micro SD card then loaded the program onto the phone. This was a bit of a blessing in disguise because spb backup also backed up the problem as well.
That said, Sspb backup is absolutely great, because after the hard reset, it restored my phone and all it’s settings exactly to every last detail as far as I can tell. It is a truly amazing bit of software. The backup file is an .exe file which you navigate to via Start/File Explorer/ etc….click on and run as a program. So you don’t have to re-install the original spb backup program first.
You must however tell spb backup to save your backup file onto your flash memory and NOT the phone memory, otherwise it won’t be there after the hard reset. Doh!!
Just to be safe I removed my flash memory card from the phone during the hard reset.
After the Hard Reset but before the ‘Restore’, when I connected my phone to my Windows 7 Laptop, WMDC connected straightaway, the same was true when I connected it to one of my windows laptops. Also I was able to open the ActiveSync page on the phone as well. So the Hard Reset worked. However, when I then did a Restore, the old problem resurfaced . The problem I decided had to be a registry entry somewhere. I then loaded on Resco Registry Editor, using this utility I navigated to HKEY/CurrentUser/Software/Microsoft/ActiveSync. Here, I deleted the 2 Partnership folders keys, do not delete the default key. (Dabble in the Registry at your own risk).
Guess what!!! After deleting these keys and a soft reset, normality was restored WMDC started to work again.
Conclusion:-
Was the hard reset necessary, or was deleting the partnership keys all that was needed? Not sure.
