Hi all
Just noticed this morning that when I try to use the FM Radio on my HD2 the program won't run and I get a message that just says "Unexpected error!". I'm pretty sure it worked a few weeks ago....
Anyone else had this?
Phone details below.......
OS Version 5.2.21903
Manila version 2.5.20121415.1
ROM - kwbr topix 1.6.5 WME
Radio - 2.09.51.03_2
I noticed a similar thing the other day. I tried to load the FM radio, it loaded with the spinning balls and then just closes...is there anyway to reinstal it?
Is there a .cab file for it or something? Or is there an alternate FM radio program (I refuse to say app!) that I can try??
Anyone???? Bueller??? Anyone..........
Do you have tomtom installed? If so it overwrites files used for the bluetooth stack which are also used for the fm radio. This then causes it to stop working.
No tomtom installed, I use copilot. bluetooth is also working OK...

I use tomtom... is there anyway to restore the original?
UPDATE: TomTom changes/replaces these files :
\Windows\BtSdkCE30.dll
\Windows\BtCoreIf.dll
After deleting them FM radio now works again

I read that solution somewhere else so I'd like to try. The odd thing is that even though I'm not using TT myself, I suspect that the cook of the ROM I'm using has done so for testing. As a result the files are there but I just can't get rid of them. All I get is a message telling me they are in ROM and can't be deleted.
Any ideas on how I could rename them (preference) or delete those files?

I think this FM Radio is improved as far as reception concerned. Less interference noticed overall. Back up the current library (just in case you don't like this one) from the Windows directory and replace it with the files in the zip.
Where does it come from ?

use total commander or resco explorer. Either will over-write the libraries.
It would be great to make a cab file out of it. Could anybody help with it?

That depends - what are all the needed Registry entries ? It's simple enough to have all the files in the zip CAB'd to install in \Windows, but are there Registry entries needed beyond these ?
i tried it yesterday.Copy all files in Windows folder with resco, check version and see version number is ok.I listened to radio all night and havent a problem

This library is complete. You can unzip it to the storage card, tap on the FM Radio.exe and it will work. I believe we need a cab maker. That type of program writes everything into the registry during the installation.
Thanks. I will try this one tonight ... ;-)

Tested. Works.

The PDAViet rom also has version 1211.721 which also has better reception than the one on the stock rom. Now I can use my favourite headset which had poor reception, maybe due to shorter length than some crappy one I had

Doesn't work on my Cruise. Stock ROM. The App doesn't want to start.
Neither the cab not the zip works. I thought that my sprite backup would have the original Files from the rom,it does not. Does anyone have the stock radio files to get my radio working again?
TIA!
EDIT: It looks like I have lost the ability to launch the radio app. At this point, I really don't want to do a hard reset. Don't apply this update unless you are willing to lose this function.

this is the default version that i have on my HTC Polaris/Cruise.
I'd like to backup my files before copying the new one but can't copy fms_api.dll, even using Resco explorer...

Has somebody a cab of the original radio ?

What application doesn't start?
The CAB can only be installed if you turn certification off.
I don't know if this is possible with all stock ROMs.

The FMRadio.exe does not start. The cab was installed properly without issue.

Yes, I know that - it was the point of my post.
But what I asked is: "Are there any other Registry entries that need updating ?"
The answer seems to be - apparently not, since another post reported it as working by just copying the unzipped files into \Windows ... but other posts reported this as not working.
Generating a CAB is easy of course, making sure it actually works may be harder.

The FM Radio I posted is better than the PDAViet's one. I have less interference or static after I upgraded to it. I am on PDAViets's 06 build and I get a clear and crisp signal off the stations I had the crappy static with the original build.
And YES, you got to have the security policies changed in order to overwrite some files in the Windows directory. Search for the SDA Application unlocker. That should fix the problem with upgrading.
In my first post I mentioned about backing up the original files. If you happened to fail doing so, try to find Dutty's FM Radio cab.
Thank you!
This is one of the issue of bother me most for X1. Apply this fix (driver taken from HD), install Cyberon Voice commander/Voicedial (search yrself for whatever version you want), and the button on yr BT headset should bring up the app. (Work for my rom w/ Sony DS-205)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3234724&postcount=2
Edit: Sorry bro. Just tried it today on stock R2A image and it's not working. But it's sure working under my rom and therefore probably more files which I already included is needed (mostly files from HD). I am too busy to look into this issue but those files should give you some hints what is needed.
does it works on the original ROM?

Jack, I tried to install the fix but when the bar fills up it says that the installation was unsuccessful. I am using your rom v2.4 btw.
I am trying to solve this bluetooth problem for days, I hope this fix will do it for me (if I get it to install).
Have any solution????

I update the post w/ manual install method which should work at least for 2.4. (just tested and not working for stock R2A rom).

So does it work in your rom or not? (I am using your 2.4). Yesterday I just extracted all the files from the cab and put them on the installation folder of the cab. Then extracted the registry keys I found on the cab and imported them on my X1. Still it doesn't work.
I think that the reason it won't work is that you don't replace the BTAGExtModule key (that in your rom is vcbthag.dll) with another dll. So vcbthag still calls MSVC and Cyberon is never called.

Unfortunately with that dll it just continues to do what it did before MSVC, "nothing". I wonder how they do it on Touch HD.
I will release 2.5 soon and you can play around w/ it later. At least I am able to call Cyberon VC w/ BT button now.

Good news, waiting for your new release.
Jack, I don't see the BT fix on your linked page. How did you finally solve this problem? Is it the method listed in this thread, or something else? I would like to get Cyberon working on my X1a without completely changing the ROM.
UP.... UP..... ?
Hi
During my holidays the internal gps stopped working on my Touch HD. I was using Duttys 6.5 R5 at that time. I noticed this when I wanted to start a tool called GPSed again after some days of not using it (before that, it worked fine and never had problems with connecting or synchronizing). Any tool that use the GPS was not able to connect to the GPS anymore. I tried soft resetting and a hard resetting the phone. All the different programs were able to connect and lock to a GPS signal pretty fast without any problem before.
Now I'm on Duttys 6.5 Leo 2 (flashed the phone yesterday) and there's still no sign of life from the internal GPS. I've used a number of programs to check (GPS Test, HTC GPS tool, google maps, tomtom) to see if any of these programs was able to connect. Non of the programs is able to connect via any com ports (com0 to com9).
Has anybody experienced or heard about similar problems where the internal GPS module just died?
Before I give up and assume that the GPS hardware module is simply broken, is there any way that I can check if the interal GPS is enabled/disabled (for as far as this is possible) or check if it is broken or not?
I've been googling like crazy, but so far I found no solution/advice.
Please advise!
[UPDATE]: I solved the problem by installing Duttys 6.5 Leo 3
Have you downloaded latest data using QuickGPS?
I had a similar problem with GPS on my touch HD. I didn't do a hard reset but I did do a soft reset which did not fix the problem. I used the HTC GPS tool to do a cold start of the GPS and this fixed it.
Hello, i had a similar problem after installing WM6 voip.
I read some post and i found that the problem was with dnsapi.dll in the direcory windows. Try to search in the forum.
I solved renaming this file in dnsapi_old.dll, you can try...after that reboot. If it does not work you can rename again and return to the initial state.

I have also tried to work with HTC GPS tool. But the tool is not able to find the GPS. So I cannot restart or log anything.

This I will have to look into. I have not installed any voip application, and I believe that Dutty also has not inserted any VOIP tool in the ROM that I used. With File Explorer on the phone I'm not able to find the dll file under \Windows\ (That's were it should be, isn't it?). Is it a hidden file?
It's good to know that some of you have had similar problems. That gives me a little bit of hope that I can get this fixed. Maybe I should flash my phone again but this time using a WM6.1 ROM.
Yes, dnsapi.dll is an hidden file you can see it with resco file explorer.
I don't know if your is the same problem...bat if you find the file you can try.

Can't seem to get the FM Radio to work, the application seems to be busy when starting-up then crashes soon after (just closing down with no errors). has anyone else experienced these issues on the HD2.
thanks
Did you install TomTom?
Radio crashes and
I installed TotTom but the radio didnt work before that, any suggestions.
I even have problem with bluetoth, cant start bt.
After reestart It say:
BTTrayce is not a valid pocketPc-program. And i really need btoth.
\\ Spacetower
Once you installed TomTom, and even removed it, you will keep having this problem.
TomTom updated the BtCoreIf.dll and BtSdkCE30.dll with their own, and will cause the BT and for some reason FM radio not to work.
Again.. Unistalling TomTom will not fix the problem as it does not replaces the BtCoreIf.dll and BtSdkCE30.dll
Only solution (that work for me) was a factory reset..
But as your radio did not work before the TomTom install I guess that you have an other problem.
Did you try the radio when the unit was still with the factory software (clean)?
I have TomTom installed and is working fine for me.
But reception quality is poor, much worse than i had with HTC Artemis long time ago :-(

I had a similar issue, just remove BTTrayce from Windows/Startup it dosent seem to effect the use of tomtom.
Nb. I did install tomtom on my device and just discovered Bluetooth also dosent work now!!
Could you please post a copy of BtCoreIf.dll and BtSdkCE30.dll so i can try and restore the originals and let others know if it fixes the issue. thanks

I wish that I could help you, but it will not let me copy the BtCoreIf.dll file. (permission denied)
As for the BtSdkCE30.dll file. It's not on my system. I guess that this file is not needed.
Reset to factory settings.
I didnt try radio before i installed tomtom.
So now i am going to do it the easy way, factory reset and try all proggs before i install my favorite apps.
By the way, it seems to be a very nice phone
Thanx all for quick replays

Now after factory reset everything seems to work.
I wonder if i dare to install tomtom....

Just remove the two "bad" files from the tomtom .cab file before you install it.
The files that need to be removed are "BtCoreIf.dll and BtSdkCE30.dll"
Use "WinCE CAB Manager" to do the job (google WinCE CAB Manager)
Ok, i try that.
I let you know how it goes...

Now i installed TomTom and i did a rebuild before without the bt files and it works great, thanx m8.

guys i need your help!
ive had my HD2 for 2 weeks now, its perfect! until last night when i tried to set up my bluetooth handsfree headset for work the next morning....
when i go to comm manager and try to turn bluetooth on it hangs for 30-40secs and i get cant turn on bluetooth
none of the other bluetooth related icons/programs/settings seem to work either
i had a look in the windows folder for all the files relating to bluetooth (just incase the links where broken) however, any bluetooth related .exe i click on i get this is not a valid pocketpc application error message.
im really hacked off now...in the wm help files theres a paragraph saying something along the lines of if the wireless carrier enables bluetooth on your phone...blah blah
so has t-mobile UK disabled it?
heres the info i can find:
OS version: 5.2.21864 (21864.5.0.81)
Manilla version: 2.5.19202525.0
ROM version: 1.43.110.2 (70315) WWE
ROM date: 10/28/09
Radio: 2.04.50.22_2
Protocol version: 15.26.50.07U
currently ive got tomtom7 installed and working fine, a handfull of games (Xtract/experiment13 etc etc) other apps like the torch button app all working fine, this is the first problem i've had!
so get your thinking hats on people, i will gather info, try out ideas etc and see what happens
UPDATE: i took a deep breath and did a hard reset....now it works!
so what the hell caused it to stop working?
I have the same problem. I installed a lot of app on my HD2 (TMOBILE UK). I have got tomtom 7 navigator as well installed on my device and the same error when I am trying to turn my Bluetooth on.
Maybe someone have somthing similar or the same and can help? Previously I had Samsung I780 with WM 6.5 and TT7 Navigator and no problems with bluetooth.
i just tried a few apps like HDwall (although it didnt display properly)
bluetooth still working...
just doing another hard rest now then i'll install TOMTOM7
ok.
here it is:
After a hard rest, nice clean phone... ran the TomTom7, installed fine, required a soft reset to complete...
after the soft reset i get "BTTrayCE.exe is not a valid pocketPC application"
so now bluetooth doesn't work
any help? i prefer to use tomtom...
There's a couple of tomtom files that have to be deleted from the windows folder to make it work again. Can't remember the names of them now, but if you google the "bttrayce.exe" error then it's one of the first results.
thanks aterlatus
