Battery improvement by putting data connection auto-off in standby - HD2 General

Hello,
As I have always done in my previous HTC models (Touch, Diamond, HD), I have set up the registry key HKLM/Drivers/BuiltIn/RIL/EnableDeactivatePDP to 1.
This allows to automatically turn data connection off when the phone enters into standby mode.
The problem is that, with my HD2, the connection goes off correctly but activesync is unable to automatically synchronize with the exchange server while the screen is off.
I have tried different ROMS and different radios. All with the same issue.
It always worked with my previous HTCs.
Has anybody a solution to this issue?
Thanks!
Carlos

No idea bro, I dont sync with exchange so i wouldn't know, anyways, I did not knew that registry key, is great!, thanks for the info, try asking under general>networking forums... they may help a little bit more.

keeping edge connection alive

anyone know a plug-in that can do this? i get tired of having to reconnect every time i want to reload my weather page or open my browser. any help is appreciated. thanks.
it automatically disconnects when you screen lock your herald/atlas via hardware button, right?
The obvious solution would be not to have your herald/atlas screen lock.
Of course this uses a bunch of power. That said, maintaining and edge connection also uses alot of power.
EDGEalways -- try it

Try it. Works for me, let me know if you have any problems @ the email address listed there.
Mine never lost it's connection, probably had to do with being on exchange server though.
i thought it is the same like gprs allways one? and if there is edge connectivity it will be automaticla edge allways on. there is a regkey - you can search by totalcommander - just type gprs.....
you will get a list of regestry with gprs - one is gprsallways on.... as i remember right..

keep wifi running in powersave/screenoff?

Hello, is there a way to keep wifi on while device is sleeping?
i use active sync over wifi and i dont receive new mail notifications while screen is in powersave.
i use wm 6.1 coocked. i have seen this behaviour in all roms tried. even original wm5.
tia
Schaps's Advanced Configuration Tool (last versions) in: Menu->Connection settings. I used this once, but battery was dead in short time.
Thanks 4 the info, found it!
However, wifi is still halting when device enter stanby.
I doublechecked settings.
The device got extremly slugish when option is true.
tried reflashing 2 wm6.1 roms but they behaved the same way.
Did i miss something ?

problem disconnecting data connection

Hi - I cant seem to get this to work correctly.
I have 2 email accounts set up to connect to and get new emails from every hour.
I have advanced config set up to disconnect my data connection after 1 min. But still it is very random weather it works or not. Sometimes yes most times no (still connected 2 hours later).
I have tried running HD tweak with the same settings but no luck. I have tried HDtweak on its own and both together.
I have also tried changing the time to 2mins or 5 mins.
Does anyone else have this problem? It just does not seem very reliable at all.
Any help would be amazing.
Thanks
anyone any ideas?
Still looking for some help on this one if anyone would be kind enough??
Well, I'm not aware of additional apps that resolves this automatically but the fastest way manually to disconnect is to use the Long End Press Button to disconnect.
Just a thought for the meantime....
Thanks but that is not really practical every 30 mins or so when your phone receives new emails. I cannot believe this amazing phone has such a strange short fall. For people with data shortages on their tarrifs this must be a nightmare?
I suggest to disable data connections in sleep mode. This can be fond under phone->settings->data
If data tab is not available, you can enable it using a cab called "Dutty enable data tab" or something similar (search the forums).
This cab works only for certain ROMs. I am using XNOR and it works perfectly.
Please note that your activesync will continue synchronising as programmed. and automatically disconnecting after.

Thanks for the reply. I have tried searching for this .cab but cannot find it, does anyone have a link to it? I am also using XNOR so it should be a great fix. Thanks

Not to worry, I have found it. Thanks for all the help/suggestions.
xx
I guess you already noticed the battery life improvement.... don't you?
I have this same problem with no fix yet. With the cab that disallows data in sleep mode, wouldn't your auto email check not work or am I not understanding what that cab does?
Thanks,

Wow, with that cab the battery life really is longer!!! thnx!

Scheduled E-mail Sync through Wifi - problem with standby?

Hi all,
I want to be able to sync my e-mails with an Exchange server and I want to do this through Wifi where possible to avoid using GPRS.
I had hoped to use push e-mail through Wifi but it seems that's not possible.
The next best thing therefore is to set up a schedule to get Activesync to do a sync every 15 mins.
I'm finding that even this isn't working as it should. I do get e-mails but it's definitely not syncing every 15 minutes and instead it only seems to sync when the phone is active for a decent length of time. I think the problem is that Wifi isn't active when the phone is in standby and hence activesync is only able to sync when I actually use the phone. Activesync does come up with error 85020006 which seems to be related to not finding a connection.
Is there a way to get Activesync to enable Wifi when it is due to do a sync? Or does anyone have any other ideas of how to get round this?
I did find a reg hack that is supposed to keep Wifi active in standby. The hack didn't seem to work and I don't think it's a good fix to this problem anyway since it will use up so much battery life. Really I just need Wifi to be active when Activesync needs it.
Thanks
Any ideas?
Surely I can't be the only one that wants to do scheduled e-mail syncs through wifi?
i have same problem. did you find a solution ?
Any luck here?
I somehow managed to get this working on my d2 original 6.1 rom.
cant replicate it on dutty hgr 6.5 or stock 6.5
it automatically enabled wifi when syncing with eas server and then turned it off again.
i tested several options to enable wifi in standby, one of then fixend this on demand only wifi when in standby. i have not been able to replicate it again, i would like to have it again though. i disabled gprs and had a constant ping on the phone so i know it woke ut just in time to sync.
please let me know if you find out.

Forgive me if I'm not understanding this right, but if the data connection is turned off, how would it synchronize?
As I wrote, it always worked. While in standby, it always connected/disconnected automatically while synchronizing with Exchange.
