First Day with 8125

So I got my new phone yesterday and decided that I might as well activate the new SIM that came with it, since mine in almost 4 years old, and I didn't upgrade it the last time I got a phone from them.
Well here we are 16 hours later & my phone will still not connect to the network, and my old SIM and been disconnected. So I have no way of making or recieving calls. Before I activated it I tried my old SIM in the 8125 and it worked fine Even without installing any of the Cingular Extended ROMs.
I guess I will have to go into a store latter this afternon and have them work it out.
Also when I went to install ActiveSync It wouldn't let me because I didn't have all of the service packs installed in XP. (I am using an early edition, and keep the updates turned off) so it took 2 hours of downloading and installing updates before I could even sync.
On the up side, I was able to CID unlock it and upgraded to the custom ROM that summiter posted, Installed Reg Wizard, Total Comander, and Weather to Go. I am also able to use WiFi at home.
Next things to do are Get the dam thing on the network, then install a VoIP client so I can use my Broadvoice VoIP on it. then decide on a GPS program and get that going.
Sorry for the long post. Thanks to all of you for giving so much info & Help.
I wouldn't change any thing to do with CID unlocking or the ROM till they fix it. You could end up in one of those situations
You: "it wont make calls."
Them: "you changed the ROM (unlocked cid), that's why it don't work."
You: "Id didn't work before I did that."
Them: "Well it voids your warranty."
You: "but..."
Them: "Bend over, we're drivin'!"

Password protected device

Hi,
I've bought a cingular 8525 in the US expecting to be able to unlock it with the unlock tool Pof released. When I received the device and turn it on to my surprise asks a four digit password. It is a password protected device. How can I get rid of this password in order to proceed with the unlock of the SIM?
If I hard reset it will this allow me to enter my own password? Will hard reset affect any of the features or sofware that came original from factory?
I've writen to the seller asking for this password but have not got any answer yet.
Thanks for any help!
Moscou
Would that be a PIN from the SIM card?
A factory default Trinity even for those branded ones should have a default password set and enabled.
If its a brand new device, apparently they played around with it in the shop where you bought it.
If its a used device, the guy who sold it was setting a password.
In both cases you should ask the vendor about the password.
As the seller is not replaying to your mail, its possible that its a stolen one. How much did you pay for it?
well, the vendor said the consignant is traying to talk with his tech friends to find out what is this password but I don't know if he will come with a solution. That's why I asked if I hard reset it will cancel the previous password. I don't have any data in the phone yet for it is brand new so I am not afraid of loosing any data. I just need to know if a hard reset will solve the problem or if there is any other way to get rid of the password.
thanks,
Andre
If you don't have any data in the phone then trying a hard reset won't hurt because it'll re-install to factory (or currently installed rom) default settings. I don't know if this will get rid of the pin lock but it's worth trying.
Also, try a different SIM card as ww2250 said. This might be the problem.
Has anyone performed a hard reset and remember if the password was cancelled?

I have the pin for the SIM card I use in my other cel phone. I inserted the SIM card and typed its PIN and it didn't work. I believe it is requesting the device password.

I bought it at ebay express with a vendor with a hi score feedback. I've paid 400 bucks for it. The seller is answering my emails but didn't give me the solution for the problem.
Hard reset it. This will clear it.

Totally stuck on registration screen... (Orange Sim in unlocked G1)

Hey guys,
Ok, I have just unlocked a G1 I bought. It worked fine. I've got an Orange sim card in, with which I know data should be working, I put in the new APN I've found online (tried 5-6 varieties), but it just wont connect to 3G/GPRS.
Do I need to delete all the T-mobile APN settings? Are my settings simply wrong? Or is it impossible to register without a t-mobile sim card?! (I'm pretty sure it's not!)
Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers,
Daz.
I experienced this issue a few days ago. I inserted my AT&T sim card and tried numerous settings with no success. Finally I got it working after getting the right settings. Just make sure you surf around and find the correct settings. My issue was a simple change to the USERNAME . Everyone one said to use the username [email protected] when it's actually wap.cingulargprs.com
on a side note...
I had been using it for the past two days. I powered down the phone and then back on. The phone then told me the sim wasn't allowed to connect to the network. Needless to say I tried everything possible. Nothing fixed it until I booted into recovery and did a wipe.
Hmm, it wasn't working, even with a clear working 3G icon in the corner.
My guess is google's servers might have been down because it worked after an hour or so!!
Cheers!
Daz.

Wouldn't it be easier to just connect it to a hotspot? That's what I do with my boy's tablet.
By the way how long have you had the tablet? If you've had it long enough it may be eligible for a free unlock.
