I brought the Cingular 8125 off of Ebay and the cell phone has a password that I can't get pass. I tried several HARD RESETS and it didn't work. I tried to flash the pda/phone but that didn't work. What can I do to get pass the password so that I can flash the phone with upgrade firmware???????
Thanks

I have three words for you:
Call your seller.
Seriously.
If he/she won't give you the password, demand a refund, and report them to eBay management. It probably won't come to that, though, since this was probably just an oversight on the part of the seller. There isn't much else you can do.
There are (probably illegal) programs available on the internet that claim the ability to circumvent or recover such passwords. I would be extremely skeptical about their claims, and their motives, but your desire to hack the phone may overwhelm your restraint.
I have the AT&T HTC 8525, went to Iraq and forgot my password. Can anyone help? People want to charge me $100 I can buy a new phone for that but I still need the info I stored on the phone.
The password feature would be useless if you could somehow go around it without clearing all the data on the phone.
So... AFAIK no, there's no way.
You can only save the info that is on your miniSD card

Brother,
Hopefully you have a sim card and not a cdma phone because if you have used the sim manager you would at least have your contacts.
A friend of mine has an x10 by vodafone. He recently bought it from their store. He also bought a unlockcode by vodafone (legal). So good, so far!
BUT - when he entered another simcard in the phone to start the unlockprocedure - he put in the pincode instead of the unlockcode. (he is not that technical). After 5 times of trying the phone is now locked for unlocking. One says the phone has now to be unlocked by software meyhod and can not be unlocked by code anymore.
Softwaremethod is not available. Can someone give me any advise how to handle to get the option back to put in the unlockcode again?!
flashing? anything else?
Take it back to the store and get them to do it, if they can't use a simple unlock code then I can't see them being any good with a software method.
sounds like its been accidentally locked you need a PUK key to unlock it ....(if its not stolen..not saying it is!) then the service provider should supply this PUK override code to allow you to change it to a more easiky remembered code

It sucks to see people having problems with unlocking their phones...but wait! here's you're lucky day Follow this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731240&page=4 and go to post #38 and you'll find the answer. I was one of them who got the phone for a week, tried almost all of the online remote unlocking services and didn't work, bought the manufacturer's code and entered it too many times that the phone counter-blocked itself. Anyway...long story short, I was able to unlock my phone with HTCCode.com. I don't have anything to do with their website, but they were the only place that could unlock my phone, and trust me I had three other buddies from this forum that had the same problem but unlocked the phone with them. If you have any problems, pm and I'll try to help. You should read the thread I sent you first and you'll understand, but if you can't wait, click on the link on post #38 and talk to HTCCode directly. They are friendly and very helpful. Good luck buddy, give me feedback too
Hi, i bought DVP from ebay and it came with password on it.
is there anyway to hard reset it? Camera + Vol Down combination is not working(it asks me to connect to pc and when i do so Zune gives me Error).
have you tried contacting the seller for the password?
no, seller warned that it had password. i bought it for 140$.
i was hoping that there was any way to remove it?(like android)
What is the Zune error?

What's the objective of checking and testing dial codes?
I've never heard of that.

It's meant for diagnostic purposes to test the phone by trained personal, not for the general public unless you know what you're doing.

I doubt it was your objective but it looks like it's your end result.
There's a lot of new posters in these forums who have done stuff thats screwed with their phones. XDA is brilliant but it's not magic.

Tbh after I'd asked I kinda thought it may be something like that. I'd be gutted if I screwed up to the point of having an unusable phone.

Well... I'm no expert... But it sounds like you bought a phone that is meant to be an upgrade to someone's contract, so it comes paired/tied to that contract's phone number, he/she probably didn't want to upgrade, so they sold it to you... After you reset it, it needs to be set up by the original phone number/sim card it came paired with... So the solution is probably to contact the person you bought it from and explain the situation... See if there's anything they can do to help you...
I bought the G6, and so I gave my G4 to my kid brother after factory resetting it... When he was setting it up... It requested that He would login with the previous google account that was being used on that G4, which was mine... So I had to login, and then he could set up his own account and the phone as his, now the phone is tied to his account... I believe this is an anti-theft prevention or something like that... Only mine was tied to my Google account, and yours seems to be tied to the networks sim card... When you reset the phone with that code... I believe you resetted it to the very original state where it was still tied to the networks no. with which it was supposed to work with... Maybe if you had resetted it from the settings menu, it would still be ok.
Anyway, those are my 2 cents... Hope it helps!

Contact the person you bought it from... And maybe ask if it is possible for you to mail them the phone, so they can set it up with the sim... Then, you'd switch the account... Or take it to an LG support center, and explain the situation, show them proof that you bought it... They can probably wipe it clean... Or you can also try flashing an unbranded network fre .kdz firmware file, that is compatible with your model... That might "detach it" from the original sim card it is requesting... It's worth a try.

Currently I'm another one victim of the same problem, and I'm outside the USA also.
I wish to repeat unlocking of the phone, but I couldn't find the code to show me the window, where I have to input an unlocking code.
2945#*933#, 2945#*71001# or 2945#*20001# do not work for me (no any reaction from the phone).
Does anybody have some more ideas?

Thank you for the reply. Is it something like what lmiked told about, or another action?
Where can I learn about steps I have to perform to do this repeat unlock using Gcpro or an other boxes? I've found that it is the bootloader unlocking tool. So do I need to do some next steps after I have unlocked my bootloader?
Currently I am able to go in phones bootloader and I see the option to reset the phone to its original state (done, does not help) and to flash some files from flash card. But I don't any files to flash.

Where can I find unbranded network firmware file and which tool I have to use to flash it to the device?
You bought a Sprint locked device, this one can only be sim unlocked to work internationally, that unlock is done by Sprint as far as I know.
The bootloader on this phone is not unlockable, and the firmware cannot be changed. You might want you return the phone if the seller told you it was unlockable/etc., because it isn't.
