Hi,
I've got problems tu configure my MDA2 to use ActiveSync via bluetooth.
Is somewhere a step-by-step instruction or can someone tell me, wich steps a necessary to establish this connenction ??
After I upgraded the rom and after about 20 hours trying, I was able to synchronize via bluetooth. Yesterday, I have to reset my device (complete) and installed everything again...but now, I'm not be able to get activesync via bluetooth working...
please help...
rob.
I was having difficulties as well. I wanted to Sync using Bluetooth because that way I can leave the unit in the leather case and just plug in a charge cable instead of cradling it.
I did the following:
In 'Settings/System/Bluetooth Settings' I pressed the start button underneath "Bluetooth ActiveSync Setup". I then paired with my PC. Then I could start ActiveSync on the device, and by selecting 'Tools/Connect via Bluetooth' it would connect. By setting it to not release the connect after it's done synchonising, I can even network over it.
However, after going to sleep and waking back up the connection is gone. Reconnecting won't work because something in the XDA still thinks it's connected, so it needs a soft-reset before connecting again.
This is on a device with ROM 1.52 though, will test on 1.60 later on. It's a pain that just pressing 'Sync' will not work, and that you have to manually select the option from the tools menu.
I'm not even able to start the connection to my PC.
When I use ActiveSync and say "Connect via Bluetooth" on the O2, it does nothing.
I'm able to use bluetooth to exchange files and that's barely all.
I have an ActiveSync profile in my bluetooth manager on the PC (WidCOMM stack) and can affect a COM Port but that's all...
Can anyone help ?
Hi,
@ Peter Poelman,
thankf for your reply. The way you described is exactly what I have done the last 2 days (about 500 times  )
Now I know, where the problem was. I had the same behaviour like Murcielago. AciveSync did'd do anything, when I tryed to connect via bluetooth (of course, tha PDA and the PC were paired).
I remeber, as I set up the connection the first time (some weeks ago as it works), after pairing the device with the PC I got a messagebox on the PDA , which said that ActiveSync-Setup is now finished (or configured or something like that). I didn't get that yesterday.
I had installed a Bluetooth-GPS-Serial-Driver (from Towa) and it seems, that this one made the trouble. After I had removed the driver, the connection works great again. It seems, that removing the GPS-Driver is only necessary for the first setup of the connection...after the connection was made, I have installed the GPS-Driver again and now both works...
thanks a lot
rob.
I uninstalled the Towa patch this morning but nothing changes.
It's as if pressing Connect via bluetooth doesn't even answer.
When I try, connect via IR, I get a box telling me "Connecting to host".... but nothing like this with Connect via Bluetooth.
I really don't understand that ****ing bluetooth. It's not a intuitive technology.
I bought a WiFi module for my PC and I'll receive it today. I think I won't have to bother with that crazy bluetooth anymore.
The Towa patch is the culprit. It is not enough to uninstall it. You have to hard reset your device to really undo whatever it does. I had the same problems you describe. After a cold boot, I could successfully initiate the bluetooth active sync and I could then install the patch which worked and allowed the bluetooth sync (if the activesync cluetooth bond was created before installing the Towa patch). Now, however, I upgraded to the 1.60 ROM which fixes the bluetooth serial driver issue and no longer needs the Towa patch.
After all that work, I generally still sync in the cradle, because I like to charge the battery in the cradle. Go figure.

hi,
I've the same problem,
when I try to connect trough bt I recive a popup saying "status: connecting to host".
I've an xda II with rom v. 1.52.00wwe and BT fix by towa.
Is anyone so gentle to send me (or post a link) the widcomm stack?
[email protected]
I hope it could resolve the problem.
thank you so much,
rubenio.
WOAAA TOWA
His last version of the bluetooth patch is incredible and activesync via bluetooth worked in less time then it took me to install the patch.
I now have ActiveSync via bluetooth and internet access via activesync.
Take it there : http://bluetooth.i-networx.de/index_e.html
I think he really did a tremendous job and the rest is coming (network access, etc...)
Can't get Bluetooth and Active Sync to work (1.60 ROM)
Hi !
I've also upgraded my device with the new 1.60 ROM, but I'cant get Bluetooth to work with active sync.
I've selected the "Inbound COM port 4" under Bluetooth Settings. After the device is bonded and I search for services my Logitech bluetooth device display the COM 4 serial port. But when I try to connect it display the following error: Could not establish connection with the remote device. I think it maybe is my settings on the PC.
Hope for some guidance

My Jam has recently decided that I dont' have any bluetooth hardware.
I have seen people complaining about this problem after they updated Radio or ROM - but I haven't done a single thing with my JAM. What they hellis going on. This thing is total piece of garbage....
you need to soft reset it
i have the same problem plus i have no audio on my phone..you can say that again man. abviously i already made a soft reset been doin it for 2 days now! damn! :x help anyone?
This is total garbage. How can a phone just start malfunctioning like that for no reason? This is pathetic.
I have an experience as: I have installed the radio scheduler which I can set to turn BT on and off as pre-scheduled. During the time the BT is off as scheduled, I manually turn it ON then the device say: No BT Hardware. During the time BT is ON as scheduled, I turn it OFF then ON again, no any problem's arised. When I uninstall the Scheduler software, everything's OK. But because I need radio scheduler application to turn GSM/BT ON and OFF automatically as my schedule so I decide not to touch the BT Icon in the bottom tray when BT is off. Without that problem the software run perfectly.
My XDAmini's BT is perfectly paired and worked with my Jabra BT 258. For Async function with my laptop, I use BT Tool 1.0 patch.
So for your cases, I think there is some software have been installed to turn ON/OFF BT function in lower level than the Microsoft's BT stack. Then when MS's BT stack come to check the hardware has been turn OFF, it found NO BT Hardware.
Hope the explanation may help.
I've the same problem with a french ROM. There is a message that told "no bluetooth hardware on this device" but at sometimes il works for a limited time.
I've this problem only under 1.06 ROM not with 1.03.
I need help to resolve this. Soft reset and hard reset change nothing as reflashing with 1.06
Help needing :?
Normally the issue was going to be fixed
Normally the issue was going to be fixed in the 1.06 see reporting on issue
Well.... I had the same message before when I upgraded to MA_DANG_WWE_10600_115_10500_SHIP. Then after a hard reset the problem gone. But his rom is not so stable.
Now I'm using the ma_cdlsku1_10600_110_10500_ship but override with the US radio to 110. And I can say is the most stable I had try on others.
After every soft reset my BT headset will paired by it self with my XDAmini, not like the others which I need to pair on manually. But only one thing is when the BT converage is out of range it had to pair them again. Anyway this is better then nothing.
Note: the radio 110 overiding is not for BT improvement. Just that is for the radio signal upgrade.
Hope this help.
When you want to enable the bluetooth try to make it also discoverable to other devices. This will enable for sure the blue tooth and you will not get again a "No bluetooth hardware" error.
Not true. I have mine discoverable, but this problem seems to occur randomly.
what error messege do you get? i fixed mine by installing that buzztooth or switch application im not sure of the name, but just try to remember the application that you tried/installed before that enable/disables the bluetooth with a shortcut. ow yea and a little tweak on the registry fixed mine..

Explain de REGISTRY trick on the prog you install. Give us more information please
what error are you getting? i modified the registry because i had an license expired error..if thats not the error dont bother with the registry. anyway about the bluetooth device not found error i found out the SKtools application is doing it..so the easiest way would be a restore registry on the SKtools app then soft restart.
how long does it take for you guys on a HardReset to get to the startmenu?
Same problems here:
1- No BT HW found
2- BT SW detects Flight Mode on and a message pop up saying to turn off FlightM to activate BT...but FlightMode is turned off yet! than the message is in Spanish and my ROM is Italian....
Really an annoying problem!!!
I hope that HTC has been informed about this!
Today, i've got one more this error. I'll made a screen copy when it happen.
When the problem occurs, there is no possibility to select bluetooth, all is grey
How does i take a old bt manager (before upgrading it works very well)
Tx
The following should give users an idea what they are in for if they decide to take the plunge...
It happened again. Out of the blue, my XDAII froze, then turned itself off. I closed my eyes and there it was, this terrible electric 'bling bling' sound. I didn't have to open my eyes to confirm that another hardreset had just happened on my XDAII. No particular reason. As if my XDA wanted to tease me, it had just decided to clear everything in its memory, all installed programs. And now? installing everything again? when there was no insurance that it wouldn't hardreset itself again?
No, I said to myself, not this time. I opened the file explorer on my PC and did what I thought I would never do: I started the upgrade to install Magneto or better known as Windows Mobile 2005 on my XDAII.
When I downloaded the Magneto files, I thought to myself that I would just keep them for storing. You never know. One hardreset later and suddenly Magneto sounded like a godsent to me.
The upgrade went smooth, very smooth in fact. Before the upgrade I deleted the extended rom files and storage files. Maybe that helped.
All OK? Not quite. I could not connect to my PC and activesync via USB. Everything worked well via Bluetooth, but USB? No chance. I found out that it had something to do with XP and not having the servicepack 2 installed. Well, no choice. Goodbye USB sync. I could live with that since I still had bluetooth.
Once I had Magneto running, I started installing my standard programs. Most of them worked. The only one that did not was WorldMatePro. OK, I tried to live without it.
I installed most of the programs into Storage. They all worked. I even tried to install some of them into Buzz' RAM disk. A few worked as well, some couldn't be installed there. Well, I anyway planned to use the RAm disk for storage.
I was actually surprised that XCPU_Scalar worked. Well, even Magneto is now overclocked to 530 MHZ on my XDAII.
I also installed PocketZenPhone and Pocketbreeze. Somewhere I had read that these programs would not run on Magneto. But no issues on my machine! They both worked. The only issue I have with Pocketbreeze is that the category icons & colors are gone. Pocketweather also worked fine. Again, I was surprised that Magneto was so compatible.
Unfortunately, PocketContacts was a dead-end. "No contacts found" was the only message I ever got from it. Goodbye PocketContacts.
I had a few more programs in my folder on the PC, but the memory on my XDAII with Magneto is limited. Very limited. Very very limited in fact. But for me not such a big issue as I do not have too much necessary software on my XDA. I could live with this limitation for time being.
Anyway, I wanted to try Magneto for a week and see if I stayed with my new friend.
After I made the first few phone calls with Magneto I was impressed with the dialer. Nice interface. Also, it seems to me that the phone connects much quicker to the provider than before.
But why didn't they include something like the intellidialer? Well, the new contacts application is quite nice, so I will use the contacts instead. Not too bad.
Then, on day three, the disaster. Suddenly, the screen stopped reacting. Well, it actually didn't stop, it just didn't react to the places where I touched it with the pen.
I was already thinking about "hardreset", when it came to me that the screen orientation was wrong.
I had installed Vitobuttonmapper and mapped <rotate screen> to the record button as press and <start bluetooth> as press & hold. I figured out that I must have pressed the record button not long enough, therefore the <rotate screen> command was executed. But somehow, the screen orientation remained in Portrait but the touch screen was now in landscape.
I managed to fix this problem by changing back to Portrait and making a softreset. Then I tried to repeat this error. Yepp, the <rotate screen> was the culprit.
Consequently, my Magneto has no screen rotation anymore. But I can also live with this.
The rest of the week went fine. Magneto is stable and smooth.
Now the final question: Will I stay with Magneto? Yes, I will. I am often travelling and therefore I need a device that I can rely on. If I'm on the road and my XDA hardresets, I'm dead. Therefore Magneto is the solution for me. No hardresets, and even if the battery goes dead, I'm safe.
But one thing is clear to me. When the first Magneto devices come out, and hopefully there will be the Magician with Magneto, I will immediately retire my XDAII and buy one of these devices. Magneto is the future. No doubt about it.
What do I like the most about it besides the "goodbye hardresets"? for sure the softbuttons. Just great!
I hope this was useful.
Cheers
Pat
Hmmm.... Interesting.... Very, very interesting!!!!
I think I'll try Magneto real soon... However, I have a question: Is it possible to return to 2.06.00WWE just in case?
Thanks for such detailed story!

I have the same problem. But let me just say that I have 2 harddrives on my PC. Both with Win XP + SP2. I tried to synch Magneto on the harddrive I frequently use but it DOESN'T work... So I tried booting my 2nd harddrive. This 2nd harddrive has a fresh installation of Win XP + SP2 and other essential utilities like Office suite, WinZIP, etc.
And guess what...activesync 4.0 using USB WORKED using my 2nd harddrive. Very ODD...

YES it is possible to return to 2.06.00WWE...I have done exactly that.
I have been running Magneto for about 1.5 weeks. And I must say it's GREAT! But as you know it's just a leaked version so it has a LOT of bugs. So I've decided to go back to 2.06.00WWE until Magneto is more stable/reliable.
How to configure Connect via bluetooth ?
I done the WM2005 installation and i manage to connect via USB with everthing sync. But i like to know how you can setup the activesyc via bluetooth ? I own a Level One bluetooth dongle and i did try to connect via bluetooth in WM2003 before i upgrade to SE. Now in Wm 2005, i still have no luck to get it work. Help !!!
I m using Windows 2003 and had configure Comm 5 in ActiveSync 4.0, added bluetooth serial port 5 in widcomm drivers. And also i pair my XDA2 with my machine several time to make sure it is paired. I try everthing include try to do file transfer from my deskop also no luck.
Btw, i can't discover any ActiveSync service in "My Bluetooth Places", i can only see "Dial up networking, Push Object". I do c actvesync in WM 2003.
Everytime i choose "Connect Via Bluetooth", will get this message "Cannot find an existing Bluetooth partnership with a PC that supports ActiveSync. Would you like to set up a patnership now ?" Yes/No button. But i had done the pairing before that ?
please help.
Change "Secure Connection" to "Not Required"?
Works for me, without Magneto (yet)

I've got the same problems with activesync via Bluetooth. My device doesn't seem to recognise the Activesync service on my Sitecom Bluetooth device.
With 2003SE I didn't have any problems. Madkat's proposal didn't work.
Update to WM5
You are lucky, I was tryed whole last night but fail, it always give me the message "Error 101 - Connection error". USB connection is very good, I could do everything with cable

Re: How to configure Connect via bluetooth ?
Thanks everyone for the solution. I had to revert back to 2003SE by Xdajojo version, because 2005 did not connect with usb or bluetooth adapter. activesync 4.0 does not seem to work properly on my device (O2 XDA2). I changed back to activesync 3.8 and worked properly with 2003SE. I can even go on internet using activesync. Also I have TOMTOM 3.0 Bluetooth version wich did not install on 2005. I will wait until proper stabilised version of 2005 is released by xda-developers team.
Hi,
at first: i already did a hard reset... didnt help.
so to the topic: when i am syncing my device with active sync everything works fine. then i disable bluetooth on the touch dual.
after doing this, i cant enable it again, whether in the connection manager nor in the settings table for bluetooth. it spends 10-20 seconds with doing anything but then jumps back to "off". then i have to restart my touch dual and after that i can enable bluetooth normally --- till i sync the next time.
has anybody got a clue, why this is happening?
has anybody the same problem?
no ideas? anyone?
lastpush for today, its midnight now here in germany ;-)
good night
I too have a similar problem like yours all of a sudden I can no longer sync with bluetooth properly for some bizzare reasons it connects and it just hangs can't do anything i.e browse files or tranfer on dual however it works fine via USB but with bluetooth it has mind of it's own it just work now and then, sometimes I have to wait at 20 minutes for it to sync properly weird
Tried everything re-boot, re-paired the device, system restore, did hard reset on dual, re-installed WMDC 6.1 even to the point downgraded to WMDC 6.0 still now joy!!!
Can't fathom what's wrong!! it was working fine couple days ago did not install any new apps on my laptop and I have a Microsoft Bluetooth stack as it's well know that WMDC has issues with other bluetooth stacks i.e. toshiba, widcomm etc... this WMDC is driving me nuts!!!!
Any tips would be appreciated I'm almost giving up! getting used to the old fashioned USB sync.
Running Vista Ultimate if that helps!
i will get a new touch dual on saturday or monday next week. i then can tell you, if its a problem with the touch dual or with the pc you connect to..
but for testing you could try to send some big files over bluetooth from your touch dual to another bluetooth phone.
I've got some problems just with the Toshiba BT drivers on my laptop... it seems that the Serial Port Profile is not recognized as "Active sync" connection in the BT device manager on the Dual. I have to change the serial port in Active Sync on the laptop (to a wrong one), change again to the right port (com7) and then refresh the services for my laptop in the BT device manager on my phone. After that the sync works again...
I've tried with Microsoft BT drivers and it works fine ! Somethimes i have to stop BT on both pc and Dual, and start it again....dunno why...
I've reinstalled the Toshiba BT drivers because on my laptop with M$ drivers i can't able to shutdown the BT device... so i have to switch the com port and refresh the services everytime.... a little bit tricky but it works...
Regards,
Raid.
well but in my htc touch dual i cant swith bluetooth on after syncing *g*
i always have to soft reset
is there any registry trick or something i could try?
Bluetooth issues here, too!
Please advise if this is a known feature.
I only got my Touch Dual yesterday. So far seems a great device. However, I can not get it to turn on the bluetooth at all!
Everytime I try it says bluetooth error!
I can't pair with anything at all.
Many thanks for any help.
well now we are four people with the same problem...
I think we have to wait till the first rom update, or a custom rom...
I emailed HTC support - their suggestion is that I try a hard reset - not done yet.
If no luck with the reset then it might be an electronics issue! If so it will be a discussion with Orange to get fixed.
I will update you on progress...
Well, I can confirm, as expected that the Hard Reset did nothing at all!
A new phone is on its way to me apparently...!
i have same problem with you..i had hard reset but bluetooth still did'nt work...i had hardSPL, change radio and ROMs but the problem still exist...
Hi to all.
Do someone have problems with the activation of the bluetooth feature on this pda?
For example when I try to enable it on comm manager, my hd2 simply freeze, and the only solution is to reset the equipment. What is strange is that when it comes back the bluetooth is on.
I don't have tomtom installed, the rom is 1.48 wwe htc and I have this problem with 1.43 rom also.
Please can someone help me with this subject.
Best regards,
Someone ??
same thing happen to me
and i have another problem
i cant send files via bluetooth using resco explorer ??
but by using the normal file exlporer no problem
anyone have the same problem ?
im using miri 1.2 rom
Up Up .. Someone with similar problems ...
Hi,
I had a similar problem with my HD2.
Activate BT took a very long time and failed with an error message, I can't remember it but it says that it wasn't able to activate BT.
I did a HARD reset and everything went ok !
same problem here. I use bluetooth for the carkit in my car. But since bluetooth is a huge battery drain, i turn off bluetooth the moment i get out of my car again. And turn it on when i get into my car. All via the comm manager. Here on miri 2.0 based on the 1.61 rom the problem is also present. The only way to fix the bluetooth freeze/malfunction is to softreset the device. At startup of the device bluetooth is indeed turned on....
Me too having the same problem
It got struck when I've tried sending files to my friend's phone via Bluetooth. I restarted my phone to get it up (luckily it got up with Bluetooth on)
today the bluetooth freezed when im trying to turn it on via comm manager
softreset solve it
im using miri 1.2 rom
in this time the sms get stuck in outbox...
its the same problem.
try pinch2zoom in fileexplorer....it doesnt work, and alarm doesnt ring too...
me too
I have the same problem and still do :-(
My HD2 freezes when I connect to my PC through comm manager/ActiveSync. The only solution is soft-reset!!
I have latest ROM 1.66.403.1 DAN
I can't figure out why and how to fix it... anyone?
Active Syn BT Freeze
I have the same Active Sync / BT freeze problem. I use Miri V.22 6.5.x. Believe having this problem since V 17.x. I don't remember having this when I first flashed ROMs in March.
Any update on the issue?
Thanks
Possible solution
This seems to have solved my problem.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7025327&postcount=23
I could not delete/rename BtCoreIf, but just deleting BtSdkCE30.dll and making BTTrayCE.exe as a shortcut in startup is working so far. Two long syncs with no freezes.
I hope this helps others.
It froze after an hour connected. Better but not great.
Finally managed to delete BtCoreIf.dll. Trying the next few days to see if it solves the BT problem.
fixed
I found out that my BT was freezing because of third party application which I have installed in my phone. I uninstall it and never froze since
Fixed as well
Thanks. Yes, this seems to be the case here as well. I managed to follow the instructions I provided above, deleting the two files TomTom had changed, and now I'm back to having my BT Active Sync working well again.
