Important T-Mobile Stock Rom Question - HD2 General

I need to send my hd2 and get it exchanged for another. I installed the stock rom and relocked my phone. The only problem is that the rom date on the stock rom that is available from here is 2/19. The one on my phone before i unlocked it and installed a custom rom was 2/22. So my question is was there more than one stock rom with a different date? And would this be a problem if i sent in? Has anybody sent in there hd2 for exchange using the method i did?

To answer your question, as long as the SPL is the correct one, the rom date should not matter. You can flash TMO roms back and forth without doing HSPL on the device. So, go ahead and take it back with confidence (as long as you have 2.08.0000 and the word "Cotulla" is not in the bootloader.)
Good luck and next time, please search a bit before posting a new thread.

Ok.. For TMOUS how do u take Cotulla off? I tried taking originalSPL take the RUU.NBH out renaming it LEOIMG.NBH and turn phone off hold vol down button and I see a gray screen that says "Loading...." and then it goes back to the bootloader and nothing else happens.

run hspl 1024 and choose 2.08.0000,,,,,,,,, hspl gone. no need to do it by sd card anymore.

1st one who killed the HD2 ;-(

I just HSPL my new T-Mobile 2.08 US HD2.
Worked soooo smooth. Thanks for that. Now the tricky part, I did not read detailed enough that the rom I flashed was a 1.66 based one.
now the HD2 is dead, no powerup, bootloader mode, reset or chargeing led.
Any way to safe it or back to t-mobile?
Thanks Guys
=( omg.... i was impatient too... I was downlaoding all these roms but remembered i didnt install the new HSPL thing.. and then i read the posts -_- sigh.. sorry man
I am so sorry man. Your best bet is to hope you can find a station where they'll work some factory reset magic on there...
Yeah. Sorry to hear that. I wish the SPL program would warn the user or refuse to install if it detected an old 1.66.
No brother
YWell Brother u and me both have to play the old hood wink on tmobile and play the it just died face so we can get a new one. Fortunatly we have 14 days if you kept your receipt, to take it back and nag saying it just shut of for no reason. Its hell of bricked, even HTC would have to completely take it apart to fix it, so no trace of anything would ever come back. the bad thing is their sold out everywhere till Tuesday or Wednesday. But ill wait its a bad ass phone. woooo! where do you live dude? in vegas?
I have read that you can microwave it for a few seconds and that kills it stone dead. No way they can tell what you flashed.
This is a very extreme method and an absolute LAST RESORT!!!!

remove your battery for 3 minutes and put it again and try ti lunch boot loader
Have you tried the SD card flash method.
You need to copy the original Tmob ROM file to your blank SD card, rename it to leoimg.nbh (i Think), and then try start in bootloader.

Which hspl did you flash and which rom?
the new one for 1024 T-Mobile 2.08.
Thanks for all replies,
For the Microvawe version, if you smash it with a hammer, has the same effect. Go Green.
No kidding, I ask for a repair solution not a Brick it more.
Bootloader is not working at all, so no SD way as well. And a rom based on 1.66. Smart as I am, I deleted the file.
Like I said, HSPL was great. Was still working after that.

I laughed my ass off so hard at that comment!
So I got it exchanged, I did the Hard spl and its fine so far. Still working.
Dont want to brick it again,
Is there any cooked German Rom that I can use on a USA T-Mobile HD2 based on 2.08?
To make my HD2 in German language?
(post removed, wrong thread)
This is why I'm choosing to wait a little bit before jumping in and flashing my TMOUS HD2. I don't have the 'cajones' to be a guinea pig! I'm waiting until everything plays out and the process is tried and proven safe.
For now I'm enjoying the stock TMOUS Rom, and applying tweaks here and there. I'm running into bugs and annoyances here and there, but don't feel a strong urge to flash roms just yet...especially when so many others are having issues!
Yeah, when it comes to the software side of this phone, I just take it all in with the regular rom and see what I REALLY want out of it as far as options and whatnot. THEN I get to the rom goodies after a lot of review and feedback.
Hardware I'll dissect the guts if I have to anyday though.

I think you'd be much better off browsing all the thread titles in the ROM Development section looking for a rom that is [GER] and [2.08+]/TMOUS based
As long as it's been taken off a TMOUS device, it will work on your TMOUS device

he he. I know it's hilarious. As I said, absolutely last resort if you are taking it back for warranty cos if they find any spl other than factory one your warranty is void straight off the bat. Nice to see you got a replacement without problems.
I just read that advice from another post here on the forum and it is way extreme!!!
As posted above - any rom based on tmous original roms should work. Good luck

YOU might use BSB Tweaks and choose manila language in the menu.
I bet it is based on the tool that downloads the needed manila files from the internet.
Try searching for the tool here on xda or use BSB tweak (but there is a solution to get it fully working german!)

[Q] Sending it back -- warranty

Hello all! I'm so sorry if you feel like you've been seeing this topic everywhere and I have too, except for one thing.. I haven't gotten one, clear answer to it.
My phone had been acting horribly the past month: freezing, then frozen after battery pull at the stick together sign, then loading up again, then freezing. It would only work if I could be quick enough to turn Sense off. I love Sense though. and for the few months before that I'd had it, it had been working perfectly with Kumar's Premium ROM. Now, I have already received a new("like new") HD2 from T-Mobile because it was still covered under warranty, HOWEVER, since I had flashed many custom ROMs, I had to take HSPL off. I did this by flashing the stock TMobile upgrade (2.13) from their website from my SD card.
My question is: Is there anything else I have to make sure to take off the phone other than HSPL and custom ROM? When I go to the Bootloader, it shows that there is no HSPL and only SPL 1.42something. Is there anything else that can cause me to lose the warranty once they get the phone itself, because from what the lady told me, if they determine that the phone isn't under warranty, they can charge a pretty hefty amount.
if bootloader really shows spl
1.42something

then you don't have a tmous, you have
a regular hd2.
you need to double check that before you go any further.
Now this is gonna be hilarious if he got a refurb unit from T-mo, that somebody had previously flashed a euro ROM/spl on!
lol, and of course tmo would say 'oh no, that couldnt happen, its YOUR fault', hehe

Sorry for the confusion..now I feel dumb. But no, the SPL is: 2.10.0000
lol.
it should be fine then.
if you wanna double check, download the 2.13 rom from tmous website and flash that via usb.

Is that necessary if I did that through SD card first? I'm only being a pain on this post because the phone won't even stay on long enough for me to do/check anything so I wanted to ask if there was anything else. I think I might just send it back and see what happens.!
Thank you all
no, not necessary. the 2.10.0000 is the important part. it will be fine.
Thank you very much for the help

Reflash original provider ROM brings back warranty?

Technically no, if you have fiddled with the bootloader or uninstalled the original ROM you will have voided your warranty even if you put it back as was.
Practically, yes, no-one is gonna be able to tell what you've been up to if it's back to stock

how can I reinstall the original ROM?
Flash one of the original RUU files.
Let me use this tread. I am new in DesireHD world , so i must learn and ask stuppid questions
Let's say that my desireHD is rooted and upgrade it with custom rom. If I want, I just DL original RUU and flash it and desire becomes as it was before root procedure?
TNX
Sorry to bring this back up guys but I could do with knowing this too.
I've had my DHD for about 3 months now, after the 1st month the proximity sensor broke so I had to send it back under warranty. I do want to flash it but I just want to make sure I can flash it back to stock without them knowing that I had rooted it?
If you flash an official "signed" HTC RUU then as far as HTC know its still under warranty.

Sorry for another noob question but is there a list where these official ROMs are available to download?
Look in the Dev section. One if the stickied posts "Desire HD files", has all the RUU's hosted. Make sure you flash the correct one.
How would I go about getting a signed RUU then? Sorry for these stupid sounding questions, I'm quite new to this)
but don't forget if you do radio s-off and super cid the stay on even after you install a ruu. someone is working on a tool to revert this process doh, i could be wrong on this, but that what i've read.
I'm pretty sure flashing an official HTC RUU will restore S-ON.
To flash a RUU ensure you have all the correct HTC drivers. Download & install HTC Sync for this.
Simply connect your DHD to your computer and run the RUU from your computer, just follow the prompts.

Yes, thanks, I think I've found the right one. I am with T-Mobile UK though there is none of the carrier's own branding so I think from the info on the phone that it must be "RUU_Ace_HTC_WWE_1.32.405.6_Radio_12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.26_M_release_155891_signed". The only difference is the radio on the device has a "U" after the "e" and I cannot find the release number anywhere in the sofware info .
Sorry I don't know what versioning system HTC use with regard to ROMs & Radios. If your DHD came stock and unbranded to a particular carrier then you are correct with the WWE (World Wide English).
Could this stock rom be backed up with rom manager, then flashed back if need be? (BTW Andy, nice sig )

Noob questions.

Hi, so I've been reading the forums for a while, trying to figure out how to root my DHD correctly, as well as installing a custom ROM..
I have Software Number 1.37.771.3
I assume this does not need to be downgraded, but just want assurance. Alll the downgrades need to be from 1.72.XXX.X
What is the most popular custom ROM to install?
What does flashing new radios do? And are they necessary?
What does S-Off do?
How will I be able to install my stock ROM back once I install a custom rom?
I know some of these question can be found by searching, but some parts are not clear to me.
Thanks.
Hiya, 1.37 does not need to be downgraded so you CAN root that.
The most popular roms I believe are either ARHD or rcmix hd (but it is down to personal preference, some roms give you things some others don't/can't)
Once you install a custom rom, sometimes you need to install a different radio to get better battery life, gps signal etc etc.
Radio s-off gives you the ability to install a custom Rom on Ur dhd, I'm not sure if its true but I think it is a MUST if you wanna install a Rom.
Eng s-off is needed to flash a radio, but you only have to have eng s-off if you wanna flash a radio.
You can just radio s-off to install a custom Rom and not have to have eng s-off to install a radio.
You can get back to stock by flashing the branded/unbranded ruu through your computer (its easier that way, I had trouble doing it through SD card last night, just run the exe. File through computer and follow the commands) , it will get rid of custom Rom, eng s-off, custom recovery and root all in one go, so all you need to do after is temp root and radio s-on, and you should be back to stock. Or you can do a nandroid backup (someone jump in cos not too clear on this point either)
If anyone wants to jump in and say if I got it wrong please do, but that's what I done last night.
Is your handset branded by any chance mate?
Cos what I done last night was flash the WWE unbranded Rom and now I'm unbranded, cos I used to be branded by vodafone, now all the vodafone crap and stuff has gone from mine.
Oh also you might wanna check before you start whether u can get your hands on a branded Rom cos if you have trouble with handset and need to send it back then your gonna wanna get it completely back to normal.
Anyway hope this helped and if you need anything there's lots of people on here that will help you as best they can.
Good luck ;-)

The most popular ROM is probably either LeeDroid HD, Android Revolution HD or CyanogenMod
Flashing a different radio is not usually required but can give you better performance.
S-off lets you install custom ROMs of your DHD, you cant flash a radio and Im pretty sure you cant flash a ROM without S-off.
The stock ROM (version 1.32.405.6) can be downloaded from CyanogenMods downloads page. Link
This might be useful too. Link
Also HTC Ace was the codename for the Desire HD so if you see HTC Ace anywhere its the right phone.
ARHD 3.5 has just been released.
This was exactly the thread I was looking for, I've been reading these forums for the last week trying to get my head around all the information. Im guessing once you understand all the procedures it starts coming a bit more naturally, doing my first flash tomorrow

But we all in the same boat innit, just don't start too many threads on it cos you'll end up getting a warning like me, it was harsh but I'm gonna have to accept it looool anyways good luck and if u need any help just ask.
And make sure you follow all the steps to the point, cos you could end up with some unrectifiable problems ;-)

It depends what you wanna do, if you wanna unbrand your phone use the WWE ruu, if you wanna return Ur phone back to the way it was then use a official 3 branded Rom, and as you know if you want a particular custom Rom then just flash one of those.
I got my WWE ruu from xmoo's thread, it has a whole list of different ruu versions, so just pick the one you want but I suggest going for the 1.32 xx3 cos you can still root that version if you wanted to.

ANY Android ROM can be flashed onto a TMOUS phone. The only thing you have to be worried about is radios (and as a result Stock ROMs). As long as you have a radio above 2.08.50 you shouldn't brick a TMOUS.
all the android roms treat the regular and tmous the same, , only difference is the rom size. (there are a few large roms that need a tmous to flash, but not many)
The danger you have heard about regarding the tmous vs regular, can only come about if you flash a bad radio (either on its own or as part of a non tmous windows mobile ((not wp7)) stock rom.
SO, you already have a compatible radio (all tmous radios are compatible with android/magldr/clk), so all you have to do is never flash a non tmous stock rom, which there is very very rarely a need to do anyway, , most people here have managed to avoid flashing a winmo rom for the past two years.

Trust me, don't bother Task29ing. If any guide you read states it as a necessary first step, you should probably ignore it.

It's probably because of the insufficient partitions sizes. As long as you repartition, you shouldn't worry.

which ROM have you installed?
I am having the same problems with a TMOUS. Rom installations most of the times don't go well...
I'm not able to boot into the rom after installation. Now I managed (after many tries) to boot into touchWizMod 1.0
But it's far from stable. Any suggestion?
I used to do task29 + radio (2.15 radio for TMOUS) all the times, but now i'm just repartitioning the cwm with hd2 toolkit. could this be a problem?
PS radio downloaded from here: http://www.rhiffsta.ch/LEO_Radio/list.html
bad news: it seemed that it was working fine, but after rebooting to insert the SIM it booted but had no signal no network...nothing!!!
rebooted again---> now i'm stuck at the margld GO GO GO
EDIT after some minutes without the battery, it is booting again, but it freezes after inserting the pin to unlock the sim.
what kind of problem this could be?
