ANY Android ROM can be flashed onto a TMOUS phone. The only thing you have to be worried about is radios (and as a result Stock ROMs). As long as you have a radio above 2.08.50 you shouldn't brick a TMOUS.
all the android roms treat the regular and tmous the same, , only difference is the rom size. (there are a few large roms that need a tmous to flash, but not many)
The danger you have heard about regarding the tmous vs regular, can only come about if you flash a bad radio (either on its own or as part of a non tmous windows mobile ((not wp7)) stock rom.
SO, you already have a compatible radio (all tmous radios are compatible with android/magldr/clk), so all you have to do is never flash a non tmous stock rom, which there is very very rarely a need to do anyway, , most people here have managed to avoid flashing a winmo rom for the past two years.

Awesome!!!! Thank you guys and also does a task 29 cause me to have to reinstall hspl and maglr and clockwork all over again or can i task 29 and flash the ROM by turning on the phone going into maglr and flashing in clockwork
Trust me, don't bother Task29ing. If any guide you read states it as a necessary first step, you should probably ignore it.

It's probably because of the insufficient partitions sizes. As long as you repartition, you shouldn't worry.
I formated partitions like you said by looking around the forum and i figured it all out yay thanks everyone for all your help this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044830 is amazing thanks all of you again thank youuu

which ROM have you installed?
I am having the same problems with a TMOUS. Rom installations most of the times don't go well...
I'm not able to boot into the rom after installation. Now I managed (after many tries) to boot into touchWizMod 1.0
But it's far from stable. Any suggestion?
I used to do task29 + radio (2.15 radio for TMOUS) all the times, but now i'm just repartitioning the cwm with hd2 toolkit. could this be a problem?
PS radio downloaded from here: http://www.rhiffsta.ch/LEO_Radio/list.html
bad news: it seemed that it was working fine, but after rebooting to insert the SIM it booted but had no signal no network...nothing!!!
rebooted again---> now i'm stuck at the margld GO GO GO
EDIT after some minutes without the battery, it is booting again, but it freezes after inserting the pin to unlock the sim.
what kind of problem this could be?

T-mobile sent me a text this morning about a major update.... I fell for it! Once installed it try's to prevent custom ROM installs. I was unable to back to energy ROM see attatched pic
Didn't it just wipe your HSPL? Did you try and run HSPL3 again?
Boot loader still displays HSPL but will give it a shot. bastards!
Thanks
I don't know if the T-Mobile version use the same SPL version as the Europe/Asian on (SPL 3.03)
But if this is the case, there isn't a HSPL version who is compatible with the new SPL 3.03 version jet.
So don't use HSPL, and remove HSPL before installation of this Rom!!!
You are using a wrong CustomRUU Flashing utility.
Use the one specific for HD2.
Removed HSPL and re-applied before I saw post about incompatibility... yep does not work... no custom ROM for me for a while looks like

I am using the one that worked last night and is packaged with Energy... so if you have any suggestions on which one you might be reffering to would be much appreciated.
If you have removed HSPL, and you will install a custom Rom use the SSPL procedure to install custom Rom.
Like I mentioned before I can't test it fore you (Belgium device) but on the European version I can get custom Rom on this way! (by using SPL 3.03)
Hope this can help you out.

Also, try to post a screenshot of your boot screen. It may help for some solution.

I did this all via USB cable

Try HSPL3, & select to update to 2.08HSPL from scroll down list.
It may take longer but should work.
If no, then you may need to use SD card flashing method with your original regional ROM.

I installed the update just fine. This is the official T-mob US update 3.14.531.1 with radio 2.15.x.x from here: http://support.t-mobile.com/doc/tm54430.xml?

Have you tried an older Energy Rom it may just be the particular build on the one you are trying to use .
Hi, I have been using some SD android builds but they always end with the Sleep of Death after a couple of days and I am really tired of it, a nand android rom would solve this right?
Right now I have:
1024Leo - Winmo 6.5
Manila: 2.5.20121412.2
Rom: 2.13.531.1 (90963) WWE
Radio: 2.10.50.26
I have been reading and this is what I found:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893948
My radio is ok because is 2.**.50.** so no need to change right?
I need to flash HSPL3
I need to Install MAGDLR 1.11
I need a 1024Leo nand android rom - can you list me the best ones out there please? I have been reading and since my phone is not compatible with most of the roms I am kinda afraid of ruin it.
Am I missing anything else? I would't like to brick my phone lol.
Thanks for your help!
When I flashed a nand rom on my friends hd2 it didn't stop the sleep thing during a call. He couldn't make calls out at all cause his phone would go to sleep. And rhw only way to wake it up was to call him and hang up. So that he would have a missed call.

It must be a way to avoid it right?
Your phone is compatible with all the roms. The only thing to be careful of is the radio. Don't flash a .51 radio. In my sig is a link, use the noobs guide and everything will be fine. Once you have hspl installed, the only way to kill your phone is with the radio as mentioned above, so don't worry too much.
and no, the sod is none existant.

Hello all! After seeing my vibrant mod'd a buddy wants me to mod his hd2. I've researched alot in these forums and can't really decifer what way to go or what rom to choose.
I am leaning towards an sd installation. It seems easily reversable just in case something goes wrong and im not trying to brick a phone here. The vibrant is probly the easiest phone to mod and impossible to brick.
I know opinions vary and im not trying to create a pissing match here. im going for speed. Speed and reliability more than anything. So that once I boot the custom rom on to his device there wont be any glitches that pulling the battery wont fix. Thanks for your responses. *** no a holes please either, just some positive input and pros and cons of the different types of installations.

welcome to HD2
I know coming to mod a new phone can be kind of a pain even if you're a pro on another, I had the same thing rooting, S-Off, flashing a ROM, and changing PRL to get a Dinc on Cricket (I'm on GSM...) so I know how ti goes.
Android on HD2 is different from any other phone. actually flashing to NAND is safer than any other phone because it is basically impossible to brick, here's why:
When you flash HSPL (hard SPL that is a modified bootloader with security off so you can flash custom ROMs and radios) you then flash another bootloader on top of it, called MAGLDR. This new bootloader allows you to flash WP7 to NAND, run Android off SD, or flash Android to NAND, it also has CWM support when flashed into it.
If anything ever goes wrong you can always load back into HSPL and just flash a stock WM ROM over MAGLDR and you're good, so it's an awesome fail safe.
My current set-up is WP7 on NAND and a very good, stable, awesome, fast CM7 ROM on SD, you can choose which you want to boot into when you turn it on.
I haven't used this tutorial but it looks simple and very easy to understand
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=944288
If you JUST want Android I'd suggest going NAND with this ROM, it's a pretty awesome gingerbread ROM with some CM7 mods and other awesome features. Fast, stable, working everything, and the chef is really great with updates and support.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=918899
edit:
The only real way to brick this phone is to flash the wrong radio. To be on the safe side, do not flash any radio below 2.07.50.
The best radios I have found for Android are 2.12.50, 2.14.50, and 2.15.50, (the 2.15.50 being the best)
The best radio for WP7 seems to be 2.12.50.
Check the radio thread in HD2 WM development for the radio list and how to flash.
Orangeskid's 100% correct. The HD2 is probably one of the hardest phones to brick and there's no real point just going for SD because you're afraid to brick it as you won't.
Just make sure if its a TMo phone that you don't flash a .51 radio. That'll kill it.
Just flash 2.08.HSPL then a 2.15.50.14 radio. After that all you need to do is flash MAGLDR then Clockwork. I recommend a CM7 as they are definetly the fastest ROMs out there.
It's actually so much easier than a native Android device like a G2 *cough*.

Thanks guys! I think ill try the nand way of things. At first glance it looks so damn intimidating, theres so many steps!
A few questions:
Does whatever radio i decide to flash conflict with any certain roms?(i was looking at the link you provided and thats probly what im going to use but it didnt say anything anywhere about radios)
And Is a custom kernel reccomended... Is it that much better than stock? (on the vibrant it makes a huge deal thats why im asking)
Overclocking: is it essential to overclock these devices and if so is the program on these phones setcpu? Or antother one? And is it ok to set on boot?
LOL! One last Q for now: After everythings said and done and installed is it ok to hit reboot from the power menu or would the user have to shut down and then power back on?
**all these questions are reffering to NAND**
No the radio doesn't. Just use the 2.15.50.14 one and you'll be fine. All the suitable kernels are built in to the Rom so you don't really have to worry about that. SetCPU is choice but I don't think there's any need but if you want the extra speed you can. Set on boot works too AFAIK. oh and yeah reboot will work properly. It's recommended to shut down and start again though.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
none of the radios above 2.12.50 seem to have any conflicts as far as I can tell.
Overclocking is pointless IMO, if your ROM doesn't work smooth as hell on 998mhz then the ROM is fubar and you should get another one. No sense putting your hardware at risk.
All kernels are "custom" since there is no official Android on HD2 build, I would just stay with whichever kernel comes in the ROM, the chefs here generally know what they are doing as far as which kernel to use. Tytung's kernel seems to be the best at the moment IMO for NAND.
One more question guys... thanks for all the info and guidance. Im in the usa and useing the tmobile hd2 am wondering if all the roms or more specspecifically the rom you gave me the link too work for that phone? Thanks again.

everything works on all HD2s except you can flash a .51 radio on the euro version. This is obsolete since you won't be flashing anything below 2.12.50 anyways (or there's no reason for you to). Also some WM6.5 roms may be euro only.
So any Android ROM you see in the NAND or SD dev you can flash to any HD2 and be fine, and actually you have the advantage here. You see, the TMOUSA HD2 has 1gb ROM instead of the 512 in the Euro, so this means you can flash the Desire HD roms on NAND without having to squash everything and go thru a lot of ext parition drama, unless you still want to.
short answer is this: Flash whatever Android ROM you want, you're good to go.
edit: also note some ROMs have a tmo version and euro version, these are just optimized with APNs and set up to work with the network better, if you get a choice go with tmo, if not then that's fine too.

All you need to do is flash MAGLDR 1.13 via SD card. It you flash MAGLDR with a .nbh file, so you can flash it via SD card justlike a radio or ROM. Just extract the zip file for MAGLDR, then open the files it extracts. Copy the magldr.nbh file to your SD card and then rename the copied file to leoimg.nbh. Then put your HD2 into bootloader and when you see search bingo on the screen let go of theol volume down button. Then follow any on screen instructions.
Also do not flash that 1.66 ROM as the other post suggested as it will flash a x.xx.51.xx radio to your HD2. And as I can see you you are bound to have a T-Mobile HD2 from your country and carrier this would brick hour HD2. That was really bad advise I must say. The T-Mobile HD2 should never be flashed with any official ROMbesides a T-Mobile official ROM. Sorry jecustomsbut the TMOUS can not flash ROMs that are for the EU HD2 and can not flash all radio versions like the EU HD2.

No because as far as I know T-Mobile never had a 1.66 ROM. The lowest ROM version they have is 2.01 wich was a test ROM I think. So you see the 1.66 ROM is a EU ROM. Plus even the test ROMs had radio versions 2.04.50.xx or 2.05.50.xx in them and they were used in regular HD2s also so they will brick a TMOUS HD2 as well. Us TMOUS owners have to be a lot more carful then you EU owners.

Hi fellow members,
I recently bought a HD2 as it is a beast. However i wan to install the Hyper droid rom or any other android rom. But i don't know whether the following information makes a difference. In the listing it said
The device has a HTC unlocked bootloader (S-OFF) as it was a developer device provided by HTC.
Do i install the rom as normal using the newbie guide or do i have do some other stuff.
Thanks
Lucky you
AFAIK, the fact that your phone is S-off means that there is no need to flash HSPL to unlock the bootloader, it is unlocked. So you should be able to flash an android rom.
But I have not heard of a phone like yours on this site. It may be unique.
Before doing anything at all to your nand, i would suggest using an sd rom, or NativeSD for now for android, until someone else, with more knowledge than me, can find out whether your bootloader is useful for the HD2 community.
Meanwhile, can you provide more info- What OS is installed now? Is it EU or TMOUS (512 or 1024Mb nand)? What is your sdcard size/type (useful to know for NativeSD)? Radio version?
Thanks

I think before you du anything to this device you sould try to dump the SPL, because this SPL could be the Key to make our HD2 to a completly native Android Device and mayby it would be a big loss for the HD2 community if you lose this SPL by a mistake...

Actually, I PMed the OP of this thread, and several others who had the same spl on their phones and had posted on the forum, but to no avail. No-one replied
But fortunately, I think @symbuzzer has found the spl in an old WM6.5 rom, since he posted a picture of his phone with "security unlocked" in another place.
But he still couldn't flash unsinged radios or did I overlook something?
Btw I have 3 semi working HD2 boards if there is something risky I would test it because its not a big loss if i brick one oft this semi working boards

Thanks, that could be helpful, let's see what symbuzzer says.
But it would still hurt to brick obe of these, but i think thats would be it worth
If someobe told me hiw to decompile and recompile spls I would try things by myself...

EDIT: I want to try this WM ROM with S-OFF SPL. Can I simply flash this ROM from SD with HSPL 2.08, because I read about problem with flashing from SD with HSPL 2.08... I have the EU HD2
EDIT2: ok I donĀ“t think that i can flash it because the filename says TMOUS and the Baseband thats in this ROM would brick my EU Model: http://d-h.st/ox8
EDIT3: Seems like Cotulla hast a SPL-Emulator: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611433 maybe he can give it to use, that would be a better solution instead of bricking my boards
