It gives the error-
Activesync encountered a problem On the desktop
Support code - 85010014
it fails only while syncing contacts and calendar info
Any ideas?
Mine stopped syncing with Outlook three days ago, and I can't see why. I've changed nothing. I get two error messages. "Desktop cannot access the necesary information", and "Not able to log onto the network". Both tell me to restart the desktop, or to contact the network administrator (me).
Are you using Windows XP? I'm wondering if one of their recent software updates is responsible.
Do you have multiple e-mail clients installed?
i.e. eudora, or thunderbird? ...
All of them seem to modify/replace the mapi32.dll (do a google on it)
Even if you don't it's possible the outlook install got corrupted from another application.
Easy way to fix this problem is in outlook, go under HELP do a "detect and repair" (be sure to close any other email applications PRIOR to doing this)
I'm running WM2005 /w AS 4.0.
After you do that, reboot and see how activesync works for you.
I solved my ActiveSync problem with Error 85010014.
I also run Eudora and Incredimail Plugin for Outlook on both PCs, Work and Home. Both are on XP Pro SP2 and when I installed ActiveSync 4.1 on my work PC without issue, I decided to attack my Home PC Outlook installation to see if I could resolve the issue.
So, At home:
Putting Outlook in Offline mode did not solve the problem.
I uninstalled ActiveSync 4.0 and installed ActiveSync 4.1 - No difference.
I backed up Outlook via 3rd party program to grab account settings as well as my 2GB pst file then ran Help->Detect and Repair... - reboot, no difference.
I then ran Control Panel -> Add or remove Programs -> Office 2003 and chose to modify my installation by adding or removing components. I unchecked Outlook and updated it to remove Outlook from my Office 2003 suite. Then returned to this option and re-checked Outlook to add it back to my Office 2003 Suite, CD-Rom in hand but updating, it did not ask for the Office 2003 Install CD-Rom... - Rebooted and connected - Bingo NO 85010014 error!

Sorry to post on a site that I have no business being on.... but I just wanted to thank Foxnolds for his fix of error 85010014. It worked like a charm.
Thanks!
Outlook ActiveSync Error 85010014
Just wanted to thank Foxnolds, his solution has also worked for me. Maybe this should be broadcast across the net, as there are many others like me almost about to give up on syncing their Windows Mobile 5 device!
Thanks again....javascript:emoticon('')

I've searched and haven't found any help at all with this. I'm trying to sync my 9100 with outlook 2003 sp2 as indicated in the title. I can establish an activesync connection and sync notes and files as well as explore the device and install software, however whenever I try to add tasks, contacts or calendar to the sync options I begin to get an error.
Basically what happens is that it will save the settings and then I get an incomplete sync with an error code of: Support Code 85010014. I've searched the microsoft site and can't find this code anywhere. I've followed the activesync 4.0 troubleshooting guide, but since I am establishing a connection that doesn't seem to be the problem. I've been a PocketPC user since day one so I'm not new to any of this, but I'm really at my wits end with this issue. I've hard reset and reinstalled activesync more times than I care to count. I can also still sync with my old jam just fine. Any help would be appreciated. Are there any unique configuration issues for 5.0 devices relative to Outlook 2003? Does it not like running in cached mode? Thanks in advance for any help.
If you are trying to connect to your home machine try:
Delete Any Partnerships From Activesync & the Device
Uninstall Activesync
Uninstall (Not Repair) Outlook - you'll probably need your Office CD for this.
Reboot
Reinstall Outlook
Reinstall Activesync
Cross your fingers
This has seemed to work for some people but not everyone.
There is a known issue with folder redirection on corporate networks. The Activesync team is aware of this and an upcoming version of Activesync will address it. For the moment the the only workaround is to turn off folder redirection. Unless you are a sysadmin, this is not likely an option for you. If you are in this situation, then unfortuantely you'll have to sit tight - like me.
Hope this helps.

I also had to uninstall both the latest outlook junk update as well as the junk update from office sp2 to get as4 working properly.
Success. What worked was to delete my current Outlook profile and account and then set it up again. The first time I did it I didn't delete the outlook.ost file and the new account settings just referred back to that file and I had the same problem. The second time around I deleted that file, configured my outlook settings and got that working and then syncing started to work as well. It took a little time, but has been working well since then. Thanks for the help. It's really strange that my jam and ipaq continued to sync thru AS4.0 just fine, but the qtek wouldn't. Appears to be some weird combination of WM5.0 and AS4.0 that causes the problem.
Finally I have a proper error with Active sync, and it's been going on for a couple of days now. No matter what I do it's screwed!
Problem is that when trying to sync with my home or work PC's, my JasJar freezes once the contacts have gone across - only a soft reset does anything, so obviously the rest of my syncing can't be done...
If I untick "Contacts" then the other information - Calendar, Files, Tasks, Notes, Favourites - sync perfectly.
Ok, I've tried all of the following to fix this:
a) Soft Resets
b) Removing all Partnerships from both PC's and JasJar
c) Hard Resets
d) Re-flashing the ROM
e) Completely uninstalling Activesync and reinstalling 4.1 on both PC's (including removing all registry settings, profiles, rapi.dll, etc)
f) Removing pim.vol to force a new one to be created
g) Rebuilding my Outlook .pst and mapi.dll files, and importing my contacts from a .csv file to ensure there's no rubbish in there.
Having done all that I have now moved all of my Outlook "Contacts" into another Outlook folder (called - rather unimaginatively - "Contacts 2"). I have connected via a clean Activesync install which has successfully synced all Outlook information (including my empty contacts folder).
I have then started copying each contact back into my original "Contacts" folder one by one...After copying a single contact, Activesync kicks in and synchronises with my JasJar. All good so far, second contact syncs correctly, third, fourth, etc. Then after copying in the 24th contact I get the following error message:
"Synchronisation could not be completed. Try again later.
Support code:80070008"
My question is...What the hell does that mean!? Neither Google, nor microsoft.com have come up with anything helpful on this subject, so does anyone here have any bright ideas, or maybe suggestions on a different approach I could take to sort this problem out, short of formatting my hard drives!?!
get the latest activesync 4.1 maybe??
sorry didn,t read the post good 8)
Hey Sub69,
This is definately a funny error and one which I think might only be solved with a ROM update, not the same ROM you have but a new one of a different version.
It appears you are the only one with such a problem as there are no others mentioning anything so strange. The fact you can sync some items shows it's not a connection issue. But to be sure check that you have followed this http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/help/activesync/default.mspx and have all PORTS open?
Also you hint at 'e' that you have 2 PC's? Is this corrent and if so what are the OS's on them? And when you get to the 24th contact does it fail no matter who the 24th contact is?
Gavin.

From your description, it sounds like corruption in the contacts records.
1) By "rebuilding", are you saying that you created a totally new .PST file, before importing data from the .csv file?
2) Did you also check (and repair) the .PST with ScanPST.exe. Typically you'll find it in the path:
"C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033\"
last part will change depending upon the language.
3) As GavinN said, would be interested in knowing if your 24th contact is always the same one, and what happens if you manually create the 24th contact rather than copying it.
4) what happens if you export just the contacts and then import those into a new profile (new .PST file). Can somebody else correctly import and sync with those contacts?
Well, I tried the whole process again, and it allowed me to gt past the 24th contact, so it's not specifically a problem with that contact. In fact, if I reset my device, delete all partnerships, and connect again, it will sync those contacts straight away with no problems. I can then start copying the next lot, one by one, from "Contacts 2" to Contacts, and it'll sync them to my Jasjar, before giving the same error down near the 50th contact. I can then do the same thing again, etc, etc. So I now actually have all of my contacts on my phone. Not the most elegant of solutions, and there's clearly something quite wrong, but it'll do for the weekend, until I can be bothered to figure out something more permanent.
I have a second problem now, in that my Calendar items keep disappearing from my JasJar for no apparent reason. They sync fine, as I mentioned earlier, but if I leave Activesync connected, it kicks in about five minutes after the initial sync, and removes all calendar items, whether they have been entered on the PC or the device. This is clearly getting ridiculous! I'm going to have to put a bit of time and thought into this, but it'll probably have to wait until Monday, otherwise I'll be in trouble with the wife for wasting a weekend!
BTW, I did scan the .pst, when that didn't work I created a new one. Extracting the contacts to .csv and importing them alone into a new .pst before syncing gives the same error. I am now using the latest version of ActiveSync 4.1, although I was previously using AS 4.0 when this problem started. And I'm 99.9% certain that I completely removed absolutely everything AS related in between the two versions.
I think my next plan is going to have to be to completely erase all data, and input it all manually into a fresh .pst. Can't see why this would be any different from importing it from a .csv, but I'm rapidly running out of ideas. The most annoying thing is that this randomly happened in the only week since owning my JasJar where I haven't installed or uninstalled ANY software, changed a setting, or anything! Just as it was all pretty much perfect, look what goes and happens!
Ok, I now feel like a complete idiot, but at least I know what the problem was.
Smartfilter 1.3 is a fantastic piece of software, but it appears that if you keep it running in the background while trying to sync, then your sync won't work (obviously something to do with the way that it loads the contacts)
I could have sworn this was one of the first things I'd tried when I started having this problem, but obviously not...
In case anyone else comes across this problem, here's your answer...At least now you won't have to reset and reflash your device a hundred million times, and destroy / rebuild Outlook and ActiveSync like I did
I'm using smartfilter 1.3 & didn't face that problem while syncing, but mine is Dopod 900. Maybe because of different ROM... just guessing...
I take it back.....I spoke too soon. It synced once, now it's doing the same thing again.
Aaaaaaaaaaargh! I've even flashed the latest O2 ROM to my JasJar out of desperation, and it's still doing the same thing! This would be funny if it wasn't so frustrating. It was all working perfectly until last week...Why me!?
I've had the same problem once i think. I dont remember what I did that time to get the same error code you posted though. But I restarted my pc and I was able to sync again. I hope i wont face that same problem again... Goodluck...hope you can sync soon...
Well, I can now sync...I'm still having the same problem when there are a few changes (~25+) to sync accross in one go, but if I kill all running processes with "pocket task manager" and remove all plugins from my today screen, it works flawlessly.
So, it's still not back to normal, but it'll do for now...
Just to wrap this up:
I exported my e-mail to a new pst file, and everything else to .csv,
Opened the csv's in Excel to get rid of any extraneous data,
Started again with a blank pst file on my Win2K machine and imported everything to it,
Synced everything to my JasJar,
Started again with a blank pst file on my WinXP machine,
Synced everything from my JasJar to my XP machine,
All ok now.
Edit: Wow, this is an old post! People are still having very similar problems in the Kaiser forum though, and the solution is still the same. So just wanted to say, if you searched and found this as an answer, don't discount it just because of the age!
i know this is old but i had the same problem, i fixed the problem by doing the following steps
START -> SETTINGS -> SYSTEM -> MEMORY -> RUNNING PROGRAMS -> STOP ALL
did active sync again and it worked fine.
my device is an IMATE Kjam, running the MR CLEAN ROM, 2.3 i think,
hope this helps someone.
Cheers
Connecting to Activesync but not able to Sync
Hi,
I am having a strange problem with Active Sync.
When I plug in my mobile with USB and use active sync. it does not synchornise.
I have tried all the options liek chaning schedule, changing the settings and diabling advanced network functionality still I am not able to make the diamond synchronise.
Finally, I download the active sync. 4.5 even then my problem remains the same.
It always shows the message "connected" and fails to synchronise.
Second, i tried copying music files to my diamond and it did not ask for any conversion to mobile format which was not the case before
thanks for any help..
Edit/Delete Message
Hello,
I'm having a problem syncing my contacts and such. I get an error message stating that I have to install Outlook and retry. I have searched both pcs and they both have outlook on them. Any I deas? I'm using Tomal 8.2 ROM and a work box with XP PRO.
Thanks in Advance.
I appreciate the replies and I will try them out when I get back to shore and will report them here.
Hi everybody!
I have a problem with synchronizing my contacts, calendar, tasks etc. When I start Active sync, it synchronizes all the files (music, photos, etc) and programs but could not synchronize outlook!! I reinstalted several times Microsoft Outlook 2002 (which was on the getting started CD) but it doesn't help. When the synchronization is over, the following message appears, when I click on the Exchange message: "The server could not be reached. This can be caused by temporarly network conditions. Support code: 80072ee2"
On my PC, I use Outlook Express 6.0, maybe it's not compatibile with the MO 2002??
Also, I don't see any ikon of the MO 2002, I could not open it on my PC ( could not find it), but in the folder of Add/Delete programs is present (192 MB)!
The message on my device is: Exchange Server Synchronized: None.
I really don't have any idea what should I do to synchronize properly all the information.
Maybe someone of you had a similar problem and could share the experience.
I would be very grateful!!
Hi marbron!
First thing you need to do is sort out the Outlook installation on your PC. If you can not open it, it is not properly installed. Since you can't sync with express, you have to let Outlook 2002 replace it as your default mail program.
Second, when you created a partnership in ActiveSync, you must have chosen to sync with Exchange server directly (first V you get).
When device is not connected, go to File->Delete mobile device, then connect you device and create a new partnership. Make sure you uncheck 'Synchronize with Exchange server directly' on the first page.
Hope this helps.
I don't know why I still have problem with the Outlook. I delated the program and reinstaled it again, I delated the device on Active Sync and connected the device. The message was, that I could synchronize only files, music etc and not contacts, calendar, task because I don't have Outllook instaled...
During the set up wizard of Outllok there is a funny message, that the program will instal the following aplications: Microsoft Outlook 2002 and there is a red cross with (not available), but when I click:instal it does it properly only in one moment the system message appears: you don't have a disc inside, please insert disc (the disc is of course there!!). I have to click several times on continue and then the message disappears... Of course, again I can't find the program on my PC, only it appears on add/delate programs.
I really don't understand it. Maybe the version of Office that I have (Microsoft Office 2000 premium 9.0.2812) somehow creating a problem.... Or maybe the program on my official CD has problem (I don't think so, because Active Sync from the same CD is working ok)...
I really don't know what I should do.
Any ideas????
So, any idea?? Could somebody suggest me what should I do???
Please!!!
Same problem
I am having the exact same problem. I tried various fixes but nothing worked. I can't sync my PDA at all now. It used to work ok but starting 10 days ago it simply stopped. The only think I did was using the Internet Connection Sharing applet. After using this applet - no sync at all. And the Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC) in Windows XP displays a stupid message; see atachment.
marbron: It sounds to me like your CD may be damaged or dirty so some parts of it (namely the ones with Outlook) are not readable.
Try cleaning it and the drive.
In any case you should also delete the partnership from PPC side before establishing a new one.
Innovative: Internet sharing disables ActiveSync but should restore it when deactivated.
Did you try to reset your device? If you are using an unofficial ROM this may be a bug and you may have to hard reset.
Also how are you using WMDC under XP? It was my understanding that thing is for Vista only.
Any way, try AS 4.5 and see if that works better for you.
For the longest time i had the frustrating experience with Microsoft Outlook where i was constantly having errors syncing my email accounts. I contacted Microsoft customer support, as well as doing extensive searching for a solution to my problem; however, while it seemed that many other people were having this problem, nobody knew exactly what was causing it. This may or may not help all of you, but i thought that i should post what i found so that maybe if there was anyone else out there like myself they might save themselves a lot of aggravation.
For what it is worth I was running both Outlook 2007 and 2003 w/ Microsoft Outlook connector on separate computers with the same problem. I was syncing my Microsoft Office Live Email accounts. The problem began back in October, and i'm not sure whether it was a software update on my phone, or and update to Microsoft Outlook Connector. At the time i was using my Cingular 3125 (Startrek) and the problem continued with my AT&T Tilt (Kaiser), until i realized that it was my phones which were causing the issue.
They symptoms were that my sent messages were not being synced. That is that i would write and send messages in Outlook but they were not being correctly synced to the web server. I would look at the error log and would notice that every time it would attempt to sync i would get a variety of error sync message. I forget exactly what they said now unfortunately, as i haven't had it for awhile, perhaps i will update this post later with that information.
The solution was so simple. It turns out that the "advanced networking functionality" on my phone was causing the trouble all along. So if you are having this trouble, perform the following steps.
1) Disconnect your phone from your computer and see if you continue to get the sync errors. If so, then it's probably not the same issue.
2) If this does fix the problem, then go into your phone and go to settings-->connections-->USB to PC and uncheck the box that says "Enable Advanced Network Functionality"
3) Reconnect your phone to your computer. The error should be gone.
Hopefully this helps a few other people out there.
