HELP - Syncing qtek 9100 to Outlook 2003 SP2 - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

I've searched and haven't found any help at all with this. I'm trying to sync my 9100 with outlook 2003 sp2 as indicated in the title. I can establish an activesync connection and sync notes and files as well as explore the device and install software, however whenever I try to add tasks, contacts or calendar to the sync options I begin to get an error.
Basically what happens is that it will save the settings and then I get an incomplete sync with an error code of: Support Code 85010014. I've searched the microsoft site and can't find this code anywhere. I've followed the activesync 4.0 troubleshooting guide, but since I am establishing a connection that doesn't seem to be the problem. I've been a PocketPC user since day one so I'm not new to any of this, but I'm really at my wits end with this issue. I've hard reset and reinstalled activesync more times than I care to count. I can also still sync with my old jam just fine. Any help would be appreciated. Are there any unique configuration issues for 5.0 devices relative to Outlook 2003? Does it not like running in cached mode? Thanks in advance for any help.

If you are trying to connect to your home machine try:
Delete Any Partnerships From Activesync & the Device
Uninstall Activesync
Uninstall (Not Repair) Outlook - you'll probably need your Office CD for this.
Reboot
Reinstall Outlook
Reinstall Activesync
Cross your fingers
This has seemed to work for some people but not everyone.
There is a known issue with folder redirection on corporate networks. The Activesync team is aware of this and an upcoming version of Activesync will address it. For the moment the the only workaround is to turn off folder redirection. Unless you are a sysadmin, this is not likely an option for you. If you are in this situation, then unfortuantely you'll have to sit tight - like me.
Hope this helps.

I also had to uninstall both the latest outlook junk update as well as the junk update from office sp2 to get as4 working properly.

Success. What worked was to delete my current Outlook profile and account and then set it up again. The first time I did it I didn't delete the outlook.ost file and the new account settings just referred back to that file and I had the same problem. The second time around I deleted that file, configured my outlook settings and got that working and then syncing started to work as well. It took a little time, but has been working well since then. Thanks for the help. It's really strange that my jam and ipaq continued to sync thru AS4.0 just fine, but the qtek wouldn't. Appears to be some weird combination of WM5.0 and AS4.0 that causes the problem.

async 4 error syncing with outlook

It gives the error-
Activesync encountered a problem On the desktop
Support code - 85010014
it fails only while syncing contacts and calendar info
Any ideas?
Mine stopped syncing with Outlook three days ago, and I can't see why. I've changed nothing. I get two error messages. "Desktop cannot access the necesary information", and "Not able to log onto the network". Both tell me to restart the desktop, or to contact the network administrator (me).
Are you using Windows XP? I'm wondering if one of their recent software updates is responsible.
Do you have multiple e-mail clients installed?
i.e. eudora, or thunderbird? ...
All of them seem to modify/replace the mapi32.dll (do a google on it)
Even if you don't it's possible the outlook install got corrupted from another application.
Easy way to fix this problem is in outlook, go under HELP do a "detect and repair" (be sure to close any other email applications PRIOR to doing this)
I'm running WM2005 /w AS 4.0.
After you do that, reboot and see how activesync works for you.
I solved my ActiveSync problem with Error 85010014.
I also run Eudora and Incredimail Plugin for Outlook on both PCs, Work and Home. Both are on XP Pro SP2 and when I installed ActiveSync 4.1 on my work PC without issue, I decided to attack my Home PC Outlook installation to see if I could resolve the issue.
So, At home:
Putting Outlook in Offline mode did not solve the problem.
I uninstalled ActiveSync 4.0 and installed ActiveSync 4.1 - No difference.
I backed up Outlook via 3rd party program to grab account settings as well as my 2GB pst file then ran Help->Detect and Repair... - reboot, no difference.
I then ran Control Panel -> Add or remove Programs -> Office 2003 and chose to modify my installation by adding or removing components. I unchecked Outlook and updated it to remove Outlook from my Office 2003 suite. Then returned to this option and re-checked Outlook to add it back to my Office 2003 Suite, CD-Rom in hand but updating, it did not ask for the Office 2003 Install CD-Rom... - Rebooted and connected - Bingo NO 85010014 error!

Sorry to post on a site that I have no business being on.... but I just wanted to thank Foxnolds for his fix of error 85010014. It worked like a charm.
Thanks!

Just wanted to thank Foxnolds, his solution has also worked for me. Maybe this should be broadcast across the net, as there are many others like me almost about to give up on syncing their Windows Mobile 5 device!
Thanks again....javascript:emoticon('')

Problems syncing with two PCs using Activesync 4.1

Hi all
I have a UK T-Mobile Vario with no modified ROMs or anything like that. I am having problems syncing with two computers using Activesync 4.1.
I'm not experiencing any of the usual AS problems, I can connect to both computers by USB or IR without problems. I don't have any firewalls other than the built-in XP firewall, and they have been disabled for the Vario connection on both computers.
From "out of the box", I set up a partnership with my home computer without problems. I then did the same with my work computer. However, when I returned home, Activesync did not recognise the device as one with which it had a partnership and started the setup wizard again. I had to go through the whole process again... then the same thing happened when I returned to work!
It's very frustrating because it takes so long to set up new partnerships, and I can't be confident that it is properly merging what has changed on the Vario with what is on the PCs.
If no-one has any better ideas I guess I will have to do a hard reset and reinstall AS on both PCs, but I'd rather it didn't come to that!
Thanks in advance
Did you resolve this problem? I have been fighting with my new 8125 to try and get it to sync with my computer at home and my computer at work. It just won't share the same partnership and you can only setup contacts and calendar with one of the partnerships. I have tried deleting the mobile devices from active sync on both computers and removing them from the sync configuration on the mobile device and starting again with no luck.
It tells me this "Your Pocket PC is already set up to synchronize with another computer (Windows PC). Please enter a name that will help you easily distinguish this computer from your other computer (Windows PC). " But if I name it something else I can only sync contacts and calendar with one of the partnerships. Very annoying.
I'm wondering if anyone has gotten the contacts and calendar to sync with 2 different computers (without configuration changes each time you sync). I had a PocketPC before (not a phone) and had no problems doing this.
This may not be what you want to hear, but I resolved the problem by uninstalling Activesync from both computers and doing a hard reset on the Vario at the same time. When everything was reinstalled it started working as it should. When doing the hard reset I also installed an updated ROM from T-Mobile for my device, so I cannot say with total certainty whether it was the reset or the new ROM that actually corrected the problem.
Does this mean you can successfully sync your contacts and calendar with 2 computers? Does it show just one item in the sync application on your mobile device?
I'm not sure if this will help you, but I have both my machines, the Universal and Wizard syncing with my work laptop and my home PC without any problems.
The Wizard is syncing Calendar, Tasks and Contacts with both machines...

Ditto for me. I did a hard reset on my 8125, and reinstalled ActiveSync on comps. Original ROM, updated radio ROM only. Works like a champ syncing with 2 PCs.
That is good to hear that other people got it working.
Did you do any tricks to get this to work? Or did ActiveSync prompt you to create a multiple computer partnership?
What version of ROM do you have? I have 1.8.11.1 WWE and radio 01.09.11. I'm wondering what else is out there and I have heard about a 2.8.7.102 version, but it is prerelease.
Do you have ActiveSync 4.1 and Windows Mobile 5.0?

I didn't do any tricks - Activesync on your mobile is happy to have two partnerships at once. I'm also using AS 4.1 and WM 2005.
no luck yet
Well I did a hard reset on my device and reinstalled active sync on both of my computers and still no luck. Very frustrating. It still tells me that my pocket pc is already set up to synchronize with another computer and I need to name it something to distinguish it from the other computer. I do this and call it "Home" and then I can't click on Contacts or Calendar b/c it says that it is already synchronizing with my other computer. It says I can turn it on after, but only after I clear the check box for the other computer and try again.
Maybe now I'll look into updating the ROM, but I didn't really want to do this b/c I'm not sure if I want to keep the device if I can't get this to work. Maybe I'll try calling Microsoft although I've already tried and gotten three different phone numbers of people to talk to and when I had called they weren't in the office at the time. So I tried searching some more and trying some different things and came across this great forum!
I wonder if my problem is because my 2 computers are synchronizing with different exchange servers. I did read this:
"If you want to sync your Pocket PC or Smartphone with 2 PCs with Outlook and the 2 PCs are both synchronizing with different Exchange servers, you need to use a registry editor on the mobile device and set the following key:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ActiveSync\EnableNonLocalCrossPollination] = (DWORD) 1
Source: http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/activesync/tshoot-as4x.htm
I wanted to try this but haven't found a free registry editor that works yet. I'll do this before the ROM.
FIXED
Changing EnableNonLocalCrossPollination fixed the problem.
I should have just tried that from the start. I paid the $20 for the Vidya Pocket Registry Editor 1.0.5 and changed the registry and now I can pick contacts for both home and work connections. Now to fix the problem of sync freeze

Error 80004005 in Activesync when synching calendar/contacts

Hi,
I've just bought a new Qtek 9000 - and have immediately run into ActiveSynch problems :-(
With both ActiveSync 4.0 and 4.1 I can sync non-Outlook data (e.g. files or favorites), but cannot synch Calendar or Contacts.
I can explore the device as well, so I assume the USB connection is good
When synching I get the error:
"Attention Required" and when I select this, I get a dialog indicating
"Support Code 80004005" (same error is shown on the Qtek Activesynch status as well)
However, my old Toshiba E755 is still synching perfectly with both 4.0 and
4.1 on the same PC (I have tried removing it's connection, to make sure that isn't affecting JasJar connection).
I thought the 80004005 error indicated a problem accessing Outlook data on the PC, but (I assume) the fact that the Toshiba still syncs indicates that Outlook access is ok? (I'm using Outlook 2003)
I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling both versions of ActiveSynch, deleting
the devices in ActiveSynch and hard/soft resetting the PocketPC.
Apologies if the answer to this is already on the forums somewhere - I've spent an hour or two looking in in vain... (and a lot more trying to fix the thing!).
Thanks in advance for any help/advice
Steve
I have a similiar problem... with my Outlook 2000 SR-1.
By the way, the first sync "worked" but some phone numbers missing.
Anybody any advice? Thanks.

I seem to have found the problem, at least on my machine.
It was somehow associated with my PST file, I suspect because it was an 'old' one (created in a version of Outlook pre 2002, probably Outlook 97 Originally).
Hard-reset the phone, and set up the identity (if you don't want the default). Changing the identity after the first sync works seems to break it again, so do it first, after a hard reset!
In Activesync (I used 4.0 to get it working, but haven't tried 4.1), make sure all partnerships are deleted. Then add a new PST file, make this the default for mail delivery and remove the original. Then use File->Import in Outlook to import all your old data. Then attach the phone, form a partnership and do the Sync. Warning - the first Sync is very, very slow.
One problem though. Now the Toshiba no longer synchs (!) though I can explore it.

Activesync and Outlook in Qtek S200-PROBLEM!!!

Hi everybody!
I have a problem with synchronizing my contacts, calendar, tasks etc. When I start Active sync, it synchronizes all the files (music, photos, etc) and programs but could not synchronize outlook!! I reinstalted several times Microsoft Outlook 2002 (which was on the getting started CD) but it doesn't help. When the synchronization is over, the following message appears, when I click on the Exchange message: "The server could not be reached. This can be caused by temporarly network conditions. Support code: 80072ee2"
On my PC, I use Outlook Express 6.0, maybe it's not compatibile with the MO 2002??
Also, I don't see any ikon of the MO 2002, I could not open it on my PC ( could not find it), but in the folder of Add/Delete programs is present (192 MB)!
The message on my device is: Exchange Server Synchronized: None.
I really don't have any idea what should I do to synchronize properly all the information.
Maybe someone of you had a similar problem and could share the experience.
I would be very grateful!!
Hi marbron!
First thing you need to do is sort out the Outlook installation on your PC. If you can not open it, it is not properly installed. Since you can't sync with express, you have to let Outlook 2002 replace it as your default mail program.
Second, when you created a partnership in ActiveSync, you must have chosen to sync with Exchange server directly (first V you get).
When device is not connected, go to File->Delete mobile device, then connect you device and create a new partnership. Make sure you uncheck 'Synchronize with Exchange server directly' on the first page.
Hope this helps.
I don't know why I still have problem with the Outlook. I delated the program and reinstaled it again, I delated the device on Active Sync and connected the device. The message was, that I could synchronize only files, music etc and not contacts, calendar, task because I don't have Outllook instaled...
During the set up wizard of Outllok there is a funny message, that the program will instal the following aplications: Microsoft Outlook 2002 and there is a red cross with (not available), but when I click:instal it does it properly only in one moment the system message appears: you don't have a disc inside, please insert disc (the disc is of course there!!). I have to click several times on continue and then the message disappears... Of course, again I can't find the program on my PC, only it appears on add/delate programs.
I really don't understand it. Maybe the version of Office that I have (Microsoft Office 2000 premium 9.0.2812) somehow creating a problem.... Or maybe the program on my official CD has problem (I don't think so, because Active Sync from the same CD is working ok)...
I really don't know what I should do.
Any ideas????
So, any idea?? Could somebody suggest me what should I do???
Please!!!
Same problem
I am having the exact same problem. I tried various fixes but nothing worked. I can't sync my PDA at all now. It used to work ok but starting 10 days ago it simply stopped. The only think I did was using the Internet Connection Sharing applet. After using this applet - no sync at all. And the Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC) in Windows XP displays a stupid message; see atachment.
marbron: It sounds to me like your CD may be damaged or dirty so some parts of it (namely the ones with Outlook) are not readable.
Try cleaning it and the drive.
In any case you should also delete the partnership from PPC side before establishing a new one.
Innovative: Internet sharing disables ActiveSync but should restore it when deactivated.
Did you try to reset your device? If you are using an unofficial ROM this may be a bug and you may have to hard reset.
Also how are you using WMDC under XP? It was my understanding that thing is for Vista only.
Any way, try AS 4.5 and see if that works better for you.

FIXED: ActiveSync Trouble - won't connect

Today my ActiveSync connection stopped working.
It tries to connect for a while then it comes up with "ActiveSync cannot connect to the Windows Mobile powered device. ..."
WM5torage works, so does pinging the Wizard.
Things I tried:
-Using the repair option from Active Sync setup
-Reverting the Wizard to a 3 day old backup made with SPB
Nothing worked :-(
What else (other than a hard reset) could I try?
See below for solution. And don't touch the notification queue if you don't know what you're doing
check if you firewall is blocking the activesync connection
if this is not the case ... good luck
try reinstalling activesync..
or get the latest one..
Install this cab application and select serial instead of RNDIS, just tap at YES button, and activesync will work perfect
Activesync gone mad
I am having the same problem with activesync not actually syncing my contacts and calender despite making all the noises I usually associate with a successful sync. My contacts are not updated and my calender has none of the appointments from outlook uploaded to it.
I have done a soft reset. a hard reset, gone back to activesync 4.2 and nothing works. I have also tried the usb switch that is mentioned elsewhere and no joy. I have other ppc's running PPC2003 and these are fine and update almost immediately, its only my xda mini s that is being a sod. I never had a problem before activesync 4 and several other machines before the mini s. I should also mention that my outlook files are fine and work on all other machines.
It is bad business that the world is becoming dependant on such bad software as this. It is not progress to make things worse and Mr Gates should be held to task for the problems caused from forcing us onto unreliable software in the name of progress. I was happy enough on activesync 3.8 and WM2003 and never had problems.
Please, Please someone give me an answer before hammer and xda meet in heated discussion.
I have the same problem with my MDA and both my PC and Laptop. I have been trying to resolve this problem for months. It is unbelievable that it is so hard to resolve this issue. I have been posting on this forum and on others and still am looking for a resolution. Maybe someday, someone will resolve this issue. Thanks for your postings and help in trying to resolve this issue. Frustrated beyond belief.
Sorry, this did not work either: Install this cab application and select serial instead of RNDIS, just tap at YES button, and activesync will work perfect
Update to previous
Just an update. I have tried this on another machine using the pst file from my machine and it syncs fine. Clearly, there is some problem on my machine with my software.
I have also removed outlook and reinstalled it. Also removed all profiles on main machine. At present, my calendar will sync but my contacts will not. Outlook tests say there is nothing wrong. Short of a complete software install I can not see another way to cure this other than the big hammer.
Go figure.
p.s.
If I had a hammer and Mr Gates was in front of me I would not be held responsible for my actions.
I found a corporate firewall that was preventing sync, I have to shut down the service and then it worked. Strangly, it would sync over bluetooth without stopping the service. A bit OT, but I can't seem to browse while synced. It asks for proxy info which I type in but it says bad user name/password. I KNOW I'm putting in the right proxy info (it defaulted it from my PC which browses fine) and correct user name/pw/domain. Any ideas?
FIXED
No firewall, no ActiveSync, no connection problems at all.
Fixed it by reverting my database to a backup.
When i had the well known alarm clock troubles i accidentially (= out of ignorance) deleted the whole notification queue.
Word of advice: Don't do that, it'll screw everything up

2.What does it have to do with ActiveSync connectivity?
3.How is Notification queue set to make AS work?

Still looking for some help on this.
check this solution:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=271174&highlight=activesync
Is this related to the inability to pass-through browse while on activesync? I am able to sync fine, but when I try to browse I get an error saying bad proxy info (which I've check 1000 times). Or sometimes when I'm messing around with the settings I get a "lost connection" message rather than the invalid login/password. So frustrating! Will switching to the serial type of connection help me?
ActiveSync must be one of the most frustrating applications out there. I have tried all recommended fixes and still cannot get ActiveSync to recognize my MDA. The last time I did a sync was 9/06. Too much BS using this application. I have searched all over the web and cannot find any application that will allow me to update my PIM file without ActiveSync. So, I guess I will finally give up on this. Thanks to all of you who have tried to help me. Thank You!!
