about SE Support - XPERIA X2 General

well since i screwed up my x2 while i was updating it , i have this idea: if a have the SE international warranty in my hands right now, but i dont have any clue about the guy who sold me the phone, may i send my phone back to usa with the warranty ? what if they ask me about the seller? could they just give a new one just getting my old x2 and the warranty?
i actually have a friend living in usa right now , she could do all this but i dont wanna send her my phone until i got sure this idea 'll work

The only ones who can answer this question with high accuracy is SE themselves, why not give the SE service in your country a call and ask them what to do. It's not like you're burning any bridges if you do that, on the contrary. I think they give you an address to a local service centre where you can drop it.
I suppose you don't have the original receipt so ask about that when you call SE. I read in the English pdf manual SE has 2 years warranty on the phone and every phone sold lays in that time frame. I know warranty time can vary but my guess is its 2 years worldwide since that pdf file is accessible for everyone at their web page.

So, you can't get the phone into the "update-mode" by pressing the powerbutton and volume-button simultaneously?

Why the hell would you send your phone to Kuehne + Nagel? They are a major international freight forwarder. You shouldn't be sending packages like your phone through them, it makes no sense.
Edit: We use K&N at my work to ship/deliver 20ft and 40ft containers from Thailand to the USA all the time. I can only speak for their turn around time in this area...compared to our other forwarders K&N is about 10 days longer and slightly more expensive to all of our destinations. We stop using them this month

NO NO NO !
K&N IS RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIRING SONY ERICSSON IN THE UK...
A Sony Ericsson approved service point is:
Kuehne + Nagel Logistics Ltd
Unit 2a
Appletree Road
Chipping Warden
OX17 1LL
Tel: 01295662101
I'm afraid I don't know what their service is like as I have never used them.
However, please don't shout (use capitals), it lessens the chances further that you'll get a reasonable response.
I need by phone so badly cant believe they are telling me the parts are now out of stock god knows when i could get my fone back
What's gone wrong with it? I'd be gutted having to spend any time without it, I'm still considering sending mine back because of the so called "light leakage" on the screen.

mine always crashes at the boot screen (the greenwindows mobile welcome screen) so i want to get it fixed....
i'd seriously recommend you not to send yours to repair better get it exchanged......
i will call back on monday and check if it's been fixed or not...
This still seems weird, K&N is a logistics, freight company. They don't repair phones in house for Sony. If anything they may have some deal with Sony to send phones back to the factory to be repaired.
it has been a week since i posted my phone and they havnt even touched it yet!
i genuinely NOT recommend anyone sending in their xperia to k&n...

Not really UTL have been repairing the phones for Vodafone for years and they work in car spares.
As with most of these companies they do a bit on the side and before you know it, it turns into one of their bigger activities.

US X1i owners...

I have an X1i and live in the US. Will SE in the US take my phone for service if it's still under warranty? Or I'm **** out of luck?

yup. they will ask where you bought it and ask to see an invoice, if it was off ebay you're screwed.
but just kindly remind them the phone hasn't even been released for a year yet, and they should set up the RMA no problem.

I had two cracks, one on the front one on the back.
they fixed it in a day and shipped it out the next.
edit.
I haven't gotten mine back yet, expecting it wednesday. now I'm worried they might have just swapped units.. did they call to ask to swap for an x1a? or did they just send you one? because I'm going to be livid if that's the case. haha.
I called and asked this question of two different people at SE before I made my purchase. They both said the warranty on the X1 is good world-wide. Evidently something special for the xperia.
buy a personal article policy from your insurance company for your phone set and done...if you live in CA i can help you out
i had my x1i serviced no problem and i live in texas...
got mine off of ebay even at that
if they ask for your receipt just say you got it for christmas and have no idea where it is, thats what i did

not released in Canada!!!

So my X2 died completely about 2 months ago. I went to the store where I got it to find out that they have no refund/return policy. The guy promised to send it back to Hong Kong,,, but I doubt that he ever even sent it (no paperwork..nothing). And then he says it's LCD issue and I have to pay $150 ... sounds fishy, doesn't it? Anyway, I went to Flextronics in Newmarket and they can't do anything because it's not a Canadian model and it's never been released here!!! kill me now!!!
So what the heck do I do now? Any help/suggestions? Can I send it anywhere?
Or just forget it, curse SE and recycle this piece of ****?
well basically SE X2 is a luxury phone and it should have internationall warranty
if you baought this phone with papers from that shop you should really sue that guy
if not maybe if you better describe the fault we can help you
have you tried calling SE Support line to get some knoledge about where u could reapair it near you?

There is nothing to describe really. I did hard reset bc you know X2 is a living hell and in the middle of it, it just turned off. The light doesn't flash when charging, doesn't turn on...it's just dead
I contacted the SE Canada. They said I have to send it to US bc X2 is a Grey Market phone and cannot be fixed in Canada. And the service costs $185 + I have to give them US address to ship it back
So much for the luxury phone with international warranty. FML! Never ever buying SE again!!!!!!

Dude this happened to me as well, and se replaced it for me for free. Yes they gave me a new phone, which was another x2.
You should contact se themselves and explain for them the problem. They will ask you for the invoice and IDME number, after that you just need to wait for a while, maybe 2- 3 weeks and they should ship you your new phone.
The very cool thing about xperia phones is that they have an international warranty so you should take the advantage of such thing.

I called SE Canada and they said I have to ship to US service centre but if they can't fix it they won't give me new phone, I asked.
Where did you call?

Looking for an XDAer in Hong Kong

that would be willing to help me out with a phone repair.
I have spoken to the Samsung repair Center at Repulse Bay, they said the would fix it but do not deal with mail orders.
I would be happy to compensate you for your time, and of course pay for any repair costs (should there be any cost) via any method we can work out.
Please let me know as I could use the help...
Or even any info on a repair shop that would work via phone/post... Any info would be appreciated, I am almost out of ideas...
Have you tried your local Samsung repair shop? (I assume you bought your phone in Hong Kong but you are using it in another country??)
I am on a small island south of Japan... no local repair shop... spoke with Samsung Japan...
and since the device is HK... they will not service it...(nor do they do mail order)
Thats stupid of samsung No international fix. Don't want to hijack thread but I brought a Siemens A6688 10 years ago in HK and it broke somehow and when I called Siemens up they not only fixed my phone but exchanged it for a new SL45 (Euro model of the A6688) Maybe it was just good service at Siemens Australia. Samsung Japan should take note and not care about all this gray market warrenty bs
Yea its stupid seeing they are an international corporation. I bought my iTouch from UK and they gave me free repair in HK 3 years ago!
Damn ... that worries me ... as I'm working in Taiwan on contract for 6 months and have a Canadian Galaxy S. I just hope it doesn't break! For such an international company you would think they could handle a phone outside of it's respective country. Even if it meant waiting longer for different parts (which I would totally be cool with as long as they honored their warranty worldwide).
Ouch. I had this exact same problem two months ago.
HK Samsung are completely useless and absolutely refuse to service via courier or mail.
I had some luck with Samsung Australia, they didn't seem to care that it was a HK phone and they serviced it for $50 AUD (Just a reflash, no 3br pre-JIG hack days).
If it is just a software problem, maybe give the homemade JIG a try?
....LOL.... I didn't even think to call a third country Samsung Service Center...
but it is a real, real brick... not even a flash of the screen... no adb response... not even the charging battery screen....
I say give samsung Au a call just in case and say samsung hk are being pricks or you could actually tell them truth that HK don't do mail ins and don't speak english (ok this is a fib)
Ah, Not sure if Samsung Australia will do anything via mail or not. I sent it to my family in Australia and they did the leg work.
E-mailing Samsung Australia was kind of pointless. Long reply times and generally unhelpful.
Contacting the service centre directly was fine though.

It was like communicating with a brick wall.

Customer Service of HTC (Y)!

Just wanted to tell the customer service of HTC is more than OK!
My HD2 didn't received any signal.. so no textmessaging, no calls, no internet what so ever..
After a bit of research I've figured out that my simcard slot was broken. So first thing I did was searching for a good repair shop who'd repair the phone against low costs.. (And in the meanwhile I used my old HTC Blackstone <- You have to be patient to use this phone when you used to HD2! ) You can search what you want but the searching and spending man-hours on the phone will cost more than the replacement part itself.. So then I think maybe there's something like warranty on the phone in some kind of way (I bought my phone secondhand without the receipt).. So I contact HTC helpdesk (live chat) and they could confirm the simcardslot was broken. After giving my IMEI number the contact of HTC told me without any further questions to fill in a repair-form on the HTC site and the next day my phone was picked up by a store that would send my phone to HTC for reparation... You can track your phone on the HTC site with your ticket number.. and within 5 day's my phone was repaired! And it didn't cost me anything.. not even shipping costs...
So my conclusion: The customer service of HTC is very fast and very customer friendly!...
Just wanted to share this story with you guys!

It's not that hard to do so.. installing rom (including magldr etc..) takes about 15 min totally of your time..
nice to hear your hd2 is fixed!
Good to hear. They are not too customer friendly here in Norway tho. The call center they run here in Norway is filled with incompetence. Couldn't answer a simple question last time i called. Found the answer on XDA. Also, when there was somehting wrong, the wouldnt have anything to do with it. "Call the shop where you bought it" was their answer. Luckily, my HD2 is insured against ANYTHING. That insurance has saved me lots of time and money.
