Failed to reserve virtual address space ??? - HD2 General

Hello,
any idea on how to fix this problem ? This happens when I try to start IGo with Opera 10 already started. This is plain stupid considering the fact that my HD2 has 448MB of Ram. Its probably because of the archaic OS, but still if there is some fix please let me know.

Hi, I have the same problem, is there any solution?

this is because sense cache's a lot of the free memory, making it not available. Try turning sense off and see if you can run both programs.

I dont use sense but sbp mobile shell and have the same problem.. any practical solution??

free up program memory

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone can help me find a way to free up some program memory. I've searched a could old threads, and still haven't found a good way to do it. I have opentouch installed on my phone, and I use the htc home plug in.After a soft reset I can get about 29.63 mb free after reset. I really only need 3 mb more, so I can play my pocketgba emulator. This is the last thing I need to get my herald/wing the way I want it, please help!
and I forgot to mention my pagepool was set to 2mb
How much you need to play that emulator?
32mb total. i'm 4 away from that

I'm sure you thought of this already, but you could flash to a rom (ie. just2clean) or something like that. Then you could install everything you want to make sure you have enough memory.
actually I didn't know there was such a rom. i'm new to all this stuff, i just started messing around with my phone like 3 weeks ago. does just2clean have a rom with wm 6.1?
try justme, newer version. I can barely get 32 by turning off the radio and taking out the sd card, with pagepool set to 4. You can try the same with 2 mb pagepool. Don't know about Just2clean, but justme has 6.1
32 is a HUGE stretch in RAM availability. Are you sure your emu needs 32mb of program memory to run? That seems more than a bit excessive.
where did u get thte gba emulator?
i got the emulator from http://www.sunbug.net/products/view/141
is there a better gba emulator out?

help me chose wm 6.1 or wm 6.5

Hello. I need a wm 6.1 or 6.5 to put on my trinity. (p3600) I want to install igo8 and mio v3.3 on it. Can you tell me witch wm i can use? I need space and at least 30mb free ram for installing igo8, mio and any other software. I tried all kins of rom but igo 8.3.2 is not installnig anymore. please help.
WM 6.1, I dont belive that the Trinity has enough RAM to run WM6.5
I use this ROM on my trinity without any issues
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=494727
i'm currently using wm6.5 (i believe TRIN_WM6.5__3_00_707_51__B21232) and it seems pretty stable so far. The only real issue i've had is with the status icon in the top right of screen that shows programs running and mem usage, it's disappeared and the only way i got it back was doing a hard reset, but then it went again. Apart from that all good so far.
I'm using the rom as supplied and have installed no extras apart from TomTom7, which works fine.
I do get a bit of slow down occasionally but it doesn't seem any worse than 6.1 and killing off apps using task manager generally sorts it out.
Hope this helps
Smiffy
I used wm6.5 kitchen in my P3600 , It's work well , finger friendly and beauty menu , but soma time it's hang and some program such garmin not run it and need long time for started. I turn to wm5 orginal , but want to test wm6.1 !
Can U help me to chose light version of Rom wm6.5 or wm6.1 ?
Check my siganture for a decent Ultralite 6.1 ROM. From a fresh install you have the following:
WWE_21014_UltraLite
Storage 74.43Mb
RAM 51.07Mb
Free Storage 71.88Mb
Free RAM 30.95Mb

Hi deedee,
Thank you, that was good advice, I had to fix a friend's Trinthy P3600, I took your advice and 21014.1.6.0 ROMs first I tried the full version but then switched to the Medium and it was awesome. From a fresh boot it gave me more then 29MB of RAM, Then I loaded a ton off apps like iGO8, SPB mobile Shell with SPB weather and SPB TV, Mobi Pocket Reader, AE Buttons, StopTime, scientific Calculator and RDP (and I thin I am missing a couple of them) but it is working great.
Very Good Stable and Fast ROM, since it was this post of yours that guided me to that ROM so I owe you tons of Gratitude. And I also owe chanv93 lots of thansk for making such wonderful ROM and putting it out there for dumb noobs like me who are not smart enough to cook their own ROMs.
Good Work chanvi93 and many many Thanks

Multiboot Windows CE possible?

Good evening!
I am currently using a iGO8 navigation system on my HTC Diamond and often get crashes because of the lack of enough memory. So I thought of the following solution:
Wouldn't it be possible to create a multiboot menu which shows up when booting the Diamond, just before the Explorer.exe loads, which lets me choose between booting the normal Windows Mobile GUI or the iGO application (or whatever application I want to)?
I think iGO won't need Windows Mobile to run as it runs on PNA's which are basically just Windows CE systems, and those don't run any Explorer application unless you force them to do so.
I think this can be made possible by changing the INIT entry for Explorer.exe to any other application (the menu) in the registry.
Would that be possible?

the PNA/ gps menu its an application for Windows CE. it loads after windows ce has been loaded. It goes in full screen, without an exit button. so basicaly when the gps menu is loaded all other necesary wince files are loaded (except maybe explorer.exe, witch can load in 1sec with taskman command.). Also wince loading takes about 5 seconds and win6.1 about 1min. As i know win6.1 does not have explorer.exe. insteed i think is nk.exe witch is the os. so without os igo wont work.
Isn't there any way we can skip the Windows Mobile GUI and directly start iGO?
Also, I don't think all neccessary files are loaded AFTER iGO was started. I think they are loaded before as the last INIT entry is the navigation software.
I don't know if Windows CE has some kind of regsvr32.exe or something similar.

I don't think it's possible. But I do know a solution - you should find a ROM with maximum RAM available to user.
I have one (Gen.Y) but I just install to much stuff onto my diamond and therefore the free memory is smashed

I think that you are confusing ROM (storage memory) & RAM (program memory). Program memory is what you need for flawless iGo performance. Try, for example, latest official HTC ROM, it should be better for RAM than most of the cooked ROMs.
I know the difference
It's just that I am running too much applications in the background (WisBar Advance, TouchResponse, Palringo and what not all) so that the free RAM is just smashed
Well, I guess I have to clean up a bit.
Thanks anyway

In that case, I have a definitive solution - you should by Raphael, like me. I'm able to run at the same time Garmin, iGo, Opera Mini, Opera Mobile, DotFred TaskMgr and much much more, and have absolutely no problems.

disable memory managment

Hello!
Who can tell me how to disable the automatic integrated windows mobile memory managment! I wanna set the programm memory by myself!!!
thank you
welcome to the forum.
this memory management is part of wm2003 and not present in any OS beyond that, because they don't use the ram as storage space anymore. maybe you want to have a look into the blueangel wm6 section and into the newer builds released there, maybe you'd want to kiss wm2003 goodbye after all, that would solve that problem and many more you maybe didn't even know you had
like for instance that hardly any 3rd party software supports wm2003 and many new features are possible with windows mobile 6.5.
another thing is, look at my post, i just adviced you on how to bypass your issue, not solve it. you will face that all the time with wm2003, it is just not supported anymore, because we all have the possibility to run the new OS, so why bother with the old one. it is like windows 7 coming out and every one is thinking about that and you ask about windows 3.11
maybe this didn't help you much, but you should have a look, whether windows mobile 6.5 is an option for you and then re-post and i can guide you on how to get there. it might seem complicated in the first place, but it is definetely worth the effort

No multitasking?

I realize, this maybe a newbie question, but I'll ask any way: Is there no real multitasking on the HTC Universal? No matter which ROM I tried so far, I e.g. couldn't run AIM and Opera simultaneously. The program not frontmost would just close. Same for IE and AIM or IE and Opera.
Or is that some custom registry tweak to save memory?
Are you trying 6.5 roms with around 8MBs of free ram? Try 6.1 ones with at least 25 MBs.

Actually I'm running a 6.1-rom. Just ~ 24 MB Program memory free, but I suppose that should still be too much to explain the automatical close of programs, when not frontmost.
I even tried a WM 5.0-rom. Same result. Weird.
perhaps its the xbutton settings? or do you even have it installed. I can mutlitask just fine in my WM5 rom. but then again wm5s better so =(
Got it working with an official German wm5-ROM by Qtek (UNI_QTEK_13096_185_10900_GER_Ship.exe).
Strange it didn't work with other ROMs.
