Hi all,
the speed of the WiFi is about 200-400kB/s it is same as my 7 year old FSC LOOX 720 with WiFi "B" with 520MHz CPU!
Can anybody help me?

I have tried to switch my WiFi router to 802.11g mode only and my i8000 worked in same speed but about 2-5 minutes, after that it appeared error message on the phone.
Please help me too as even i am in search for the same requiremnet

According to the big Wizard thread on HoFo, the lack of BT as an option in Modem Link is MS design intent, but instructions for adding BT to Modem Link are in the i-mate document ‘Guidelines for using i-mate K-JAM as a Bluetooth Modem.PDF.
Does anyone have this doc, or does anyone know how to turn the K-Jam into a BT modem?

but I haven't been able to get it working with my K-JAM and laptop using the MS Bluetooth stack. I keep getting the "error 692: There was a hardware failure in the modem". I've followed all the setups successfully but cannot connect. I can even query the modem from the laptop ?! Help anyone ?
Doh! Thanks firas... I was expecting some reg hack to enable it in modem-link, but all the doc says is 'use the DUN profile in the MS BT stack... I should have guessed... :$
I tried it, paired the wizard with my iPAQ 4700, set it as the BT modem and bingo logged into Skype (as a test) from the 4700 with no problem. 4700 has no GPRS (and wifi turned off), old nokia has no SIM in, so it had to be through the wizard, but the 'G' icon didn't chage to the connected one even though the connection worked. I've yet to instal SPB GPRS monitor, but will do and see if it logs the traffic.
Can your laptop connect to a regular (Nokia/SE) BT phone's DUN profile?

Hey Dox, I've finally managed to establish an EDGE connection over bluetooth with my laptop. Just wanted to let you know regarding SPB GPRS Monitor to be careful with it. After I installed it my KJAM's backlight would always be off even after a restart. Only way I could fix it was to hard reset and reinstall everything except for that one. You might wanna check around to see how others have faired with it before installing it yourself.

Glad you have it working buddy. I gave up on the BT dongle on my laptop (even with widcom drivers instead of the 3com supplied ones) long before I got the Wizards...
Thanks for the heads-up re gprs monitor too. As it happens, I had already installed it on my own Wizard as my Voda 'data' bundle covers gprs,MMS and SMS from the same pool, and I wanted to see how many 'SMS' worth of data I was using. I haven't had the backlight problem you mentioned, but will be wary.
When I installed it from the O2 companion CD, it installed okay, but (I guess because of the Active rubbish) there's no Today plugin with that version. I turn the titlebar icon off, as its implementation is clumsy, and used the today plugin to monitor, and as access to the reports. Might try an SPB update over the top...
Anyway, reconnected from my 4700 surfed for a bit fine, and still no sign of the Today 'G' icon showing connected and no traffic in GPRS Monitor. Guess it's back to my old registered version on the iPaq end of the link...

Glad to be of any help Dox. I've also had the same problem with the G icon not changing colors to show that it's connected when using the GPRS (EDGE) connection on the KJAM from my laptop (although I can surf the Internet just fine). So I guess we can just add that to the ever growing list of bugs in the KJAM (or WM5) :x
Hi Firas, I want to ask you. Is your service provider MTC or Wataniya? and what about the downloading speed using dun profile is it slow or fast?
Hi ysq2002. I'm currently using Wataniya and I'm getting download speeds between 128 - 170 Kbps ( 16 - 21 KBps) using DUN on my KJAM which is great for Kuwait. I've tested it in Kuwait City, Surra (not south Surra), Sulaibikhat (Maternity Hospital) and even Kabd (Chabd) and have gotten the above mentioned speeds. I used to have MTC for several years and I tested my MTC phone line beside my Wataniya phone line recently in Chabd and was only getting 20 - 32 Kbps ( 2.5 KBps - 4 KBps ) on my MTC phone !!
Yes firas.Yesterday, I bought kjam. The internet speed was very good using Edge. Much, much better than PDA2k which has no support for edge

Hi Firas,could you please tell me how did you make the KJAM bluetooth to work as a modem and the laptop can connect to it?when i tried to dial from my lapotp,i got error 692 hardware error,can you help?thanks a million.

To be honest with you I don't know what I did differently that finally got it working. I followed the instructions in the above mentioned PDF at least 10 times and it finally worked ?! Try going to device manager on your computer, uninstall any Bluetooth Modems. Go to the Bluetooth settings and remove any pairing between your laptop and your phone and start all over again. Take it step by step according to Club Imate's document.

I've read some threads about EDGE in the forums; but i swear i can't get an exact and easy-to-understand meaning of EDGE !!! all what i got is that it's 3 or 4 times faster than GPRS connection !! what is EDGE, plz don't give me high-tech definition ?? and tell me, if you connect to the internet on your wizard using EDGE, how do you know the exact speed (considering that the laptop doesn't exist) ?? thanx in advance buddy ..
EDGE is also known as EGPRS (Enhanced GPRS) and can theoritically reach speeds of 384 kbit/s. It is an upgrade to current GPRS networks and is much faster than regular GPRS which operates at 30–70 kbit/s. So if your mobile telephone company provides EDGE (EGPRS) and your phone supports EDGE it will run at EDGE speeds (usually up to 230 Kbps). If your phone only supports GPRS it will still work with an EGPRS network but will run at a slower speed (usually around 40 - 50 kbps). EDGE is available in some parts of the US, Europe, and Middle East (not sure about Asia). Do not confuse it with UMTS which is a very different technology and is built on different networks and offers even faster speeds.

Hi all,
I have a big problem with my Prophet and its WIFI, I didn't manage to connect to anything.
First, I had the Orange French rom.
When i tried to connect to my hotspot with WPA protection, although the prophet could see the hotspot, try to connect to it, connection seemed to stay blocked... status was "connected to network" but no IP given (DHCP is activated on my hotpot).
Then I read that WPA wasn't well supported by WM5 so i put a WEP encryption on my hotspot. This time the prophet connect and an IP address appeared in wifi sttings, but connection reseted all the time... connected, not connected, connected again, not connected...
impossible to stabilise the connection.
I tried on another hotspot without encryption, and same thing, connection reseting again and again...
Now I've just tried with the last dopod rom which I've found right here, but no change, the wifi connection is impossible.
I'm kinda lost, dunno what's going wrong with something that should work without any problems...
Does someone ever seen something like this?
Could it be a material failure?

I Just got my XDA Neo (o2Germany) 2 days ago and because i´ve read about the Dopod Rom beeing faster, i upgraded immediatly.
The Problem now is the bad Wireless performance, i never get a good connection - Still if i am right next to the Router/Accesspoint...
Did i understand you right that this is a Hardware failure ?
Can I correct this with a different Rom ?
The Problem is that i cannot give it back to o2 now, because of the Dopod Rom - Maybe i have to try the Downgrade Method presented yesterday...
Can you give some more information about Wlan performance ??

First of all, did you try the wireless connection with your first original rom?
And what do you mean by "never get a good connection", could you explain that point? does the prophet connect and disconnect?
You must know that wifi performance are kinda poor on this device from what I heard and what I saw... you'll never get something like your laptop for example.
But I'll do some test at home and see how it's going now that I can really connect (I never could before, so I never really tried :wink
Anyway, in my case it was clearly hardware as I have the problem on my Orange rom, then I had the same problem with the Dopod one.
Now I just received a new prophet, and it worked fine on the first try with the Orange rom...
I'd like to try with the Dopod again but until they find a way to downgrade, i won't take the irsk... or maybe yes, i dunno

Yes i can connect, and i can also Use Opera, Internet Explorer and so on...
But i think it is really slow, i never got the connection far away from "poor" ...
Even the original o2 Xda neo rom was not better...
I will have to try some different Roms when downgrading will be made possible i think.

it is slow for me too (right now i'm on my prophet over wifi)... but i don't think the rom would make a big difference, i mean, the dopod us supposed to be the fastest...
I think the device itself have a poor wifi...
could you confirm that your o2 rom was as poor as the dopod or did i get it wrong?
maybe you could also test your connection speed too.

I did not "really" test the o2-rom, i started the XDA and after Windows was ready, i saw it is quite slow in the menue - wireless was detected and i connected but signal quality was exactly the same bad thing i have now.
Edit: TXRATE is "Auto", after 2 Minutes or so it drops to 2Mbps
408 Kb/s is what I get when I run a basic speed test.
that ain't bad... and I t ink pocket IE is quite slow too...
We are not on a PC after all, the proc speed also affect the connection speed.
I think that it's already nice to have wifi on a little device like this

Mhm, after a new Hardreset a interruped the *.cab file installs with the first reboot - The System is much faster now. The Wireless Quality is not better but i can Download and Phone via Skype without any Problems and interruptions.I Think my System had an overload, now it is fast and it works.
I will test the wireless range tomorrow...

to my query, my WI-FI on my Atom works no problem but i noticed the signal may be weak on it?
I have a Nokia N80 and with the Atom Wi-Fi in the same spot the Nokia seems to pick up Wi-Fi signal and the Atom no. IM thinking maybe the Nokia seems to have a better/stronger/ or improved Wi-Fi receiver?
Does anyone know how to improve signal strength on the Wi-Fi on the Atom?

i'm experiencing the same problem too with my Atom exec..but before i can still use my wifi, now i can't..it hardly detect any signals..it always got disconnection because of the weak signals...i don't know why this happens, i can use my WIFI before, but today, i can't.. compared to my friends N92, he can detect the signal while i canot..i need help why did it happened..i can use the WLAN before and i don't have a problem with the power strength..but now, it's WIFI is almost useless.. i cant even have a decent connection.. i tried hard reset, but still, didn't help..what else can i do? does OS upgrade can help me??? by the way, im using the latest WM5 from O2..tnx guys..need help..

Since a year I am having an HTC Diamond, on which I immediately uploaded Dutty ROM. Everything has been working fine for at least 9 months!! 2 or 3 months ago, I wanted to update the GPS satellite information over my wi-fi and... suddenly I could not connect anymore. I am having WPA-PSK with TKIP encryption.
I have tried EVERYTHING. I was AT the router where signal strength is full, it does not connect. I have also tried to change the encryption type on the router, then deleted the profile on the phone and a connection still can not be established! My settings ARE best performance and in Advanced Configuration Tool. I have been using wi-fi connection with this phone for a long time and quite often without any problem till now...
I have WPA authentication DISABLED, so please DO NOT redirect me to these threads.
In KFC with an unencrypted hot spot, I could connect without any problem!!
I have tried looking for different options in both Windows Mobile configuration menus and in Advanced Configuration Tool, still no success.

I've installed many custom ROMs, reflashed with mi flash tool, but the problem still persists. So, the problem is, when I'm 10 metres away from the router, I get 0-2mbps. I can barely watch a YouTube video at 1080p. However, when I'm next to the router I get 42mbps. I have confirmed that the problem is only on my phone. Can someone help me?
Things I've tried :
- Installed custom roms
- Factory reset
- Reflashed with mi flash tool
- Remove lines in wlan_mac.bin
- Reset network settings
P.s. sometimes I get 0 bars which doesn't happen on any phones, and sometimes I get 'x' in the wifi icon indicating I have no internet.
P.p.s. When I put my phone on battery saver mode, I have no internet connection. Nothing will load.

Try disabling\reenabling GPS and \or Bluetooth.
They slow down 2.4 GHZ WiFi.
When you're next to your router probably WiFi switch to 5Ghz.
