Whenever I press the start button, and work with pulldown menus, there is loud annoying click which I am unable to switch off or lower its volume, because if I lower the volume, I will also lower the volume for the ringtone. I found the file which does the "click" but am unable to delete it. Any suggestions?
Goto Settings -> Sounds and Notifications -> Disable sounds for Events

This is obvious but not good. If I do this, there won't be any notifications for all of the events, like missed phone call, new text message etc.

Hello people,
I have a bit of a problem with my sms sound on my HD. I dont get any sound notifications when a new SMS comes. I have enable sound, under settings, sound and notifications i have checked Play Sound and selected a builtin one. Vibration is off. Any ideas of what maybe the problem?

Any ideas?

Hey guys,
as it turned out the Ring sound level is only for the ringing tone. I had ring level on maximun while system level was off. I raised the system volume and the sms sound was back on. I dont know if this applies to the rest of you but give it a shot. Thanks for your replies.
If i set an alarm, and pick a sounds for it like "alarm-snooze" (one of the louder ones) when it comes time for the alarm, it pops up on the device with a single little high pitched "alert" beep, but does not play the alarm sound i selected.
This is a huge problem for me as i use my phone for my waking up alarm, and that tiny beep doesnt wake me up -
why isnt it using the alarm sound i have selected?
Does anyone else see this?
any way to fix?
Thanks
I have noticed the same issue two times now. Last night and this morning when I had to wake up to work. Didn't sound the alarm I separately choosed. It didn't actually play any sound at all although it wasn't in silent mode whatsoever.
go to settings>sounds and notifications and check the first option too, then go to the tab notifications (the right tab), choose event: Reminders and uncheck playing the sound. You can leave the show messega on the screen if you like to.
you're describing donig it thru the "all settings" area, to do it through the HTC settings apps...
go to
Settings > Sound & Display
then select "Notification Sounds"
then set "Reminders" to OFF
It will then play the Alarm sound we selected
Thanks for the tip! its rubbish that the tiny reminders "bip" takes precedence over the Alarm sounds we select!

You are both correct...
Chris, although they are 'generic', the function can be performed either from hyellow method or yours.

Hi , Is there a way to disable the today-screen notifications? In other words, when I have an SMS , I would like the phone to vibrate/ring only. I do not want the left softkey to change to "Notification". thanks
Settings->Menu->More->Sounds and notifications->Notifications.
Choose the new SMS setting and disable "show notification on screen" or whatever it says there...
there isnt setting "show notification on screen" ... only "play sound" , "display message on screen" , "flash light for" and "vibrate"

What is the item you've selected in the drop-down box? And what settings appear?
settings - sound and notifications -notification -event : drop down menu "Message: New message" . And there are settings :
Play soud
Repeat
Display message on screen
Flash light for
Vibrate

So what happens if you untick "Display message on screen"?

Common... "Display message on screen" is quite obvious, and it's not that hard to test if that is the correct setting...
Problem isnt "Display mesage on screen" problem is, I dont want the left softkey to change to "Notification" I dont need this notification.

Disabling that should stop the "Notification" left softkey from appearing...
Anyway, I've found that in my HD2 it never changes to Notification... What ROM are you using? Is Sense disabled?
Hey I am new to these forums and the CM7 ROM for the shift. I put it on last night and I am having some trouble with the notification settings. On the stock sense ROM I was able to set my notifications to vibrate when I got one, mainly a text message. On the CM7 ROM for notifications I can only put it to "no noise" at all or a ringtone, like a beep. I would like to have a vibrate option but I cannot seem to find one. I appreciate all the help. Let me know if you need any more information, thanks.
try this: go into settings then sound setting, then under general tap on vibrate and set it to always..
or u can open up ur messages then hit menu and then settings the scroll down to notifications make sure notifications are checked then go to notification settings and tap vibrate and set it to always

That worked! Thank you, I didnt even think about going about it that way.
I had this problem too...
Go to Settings>CyanogenMod Settings>Interface>Notification Power Widget
Now check "Notification Power Widget" and then go into widget buttons.
Pick whatever tickles your fancy, but make sure toggle sound is on. You can also change the types of sound in the bottom "Sound Modes" Category and you caan change the order if you hit "Back" then "Widget Button Order".
Now reboot your device and when it turns back on, slide down the notification bar and at the top there should be a toggle which looks like Vibrate/Sound/Silent and that's how you change the sound!
I am also having this issue. i have no vibrate on any text messaging or even gmail .
I have the newest cm7, have tried turning vibrate on where ever i could. Wiped and re flashed but have the same problem .
phone will only vibrate on call and when i change from silent to vibrate.
