SMS Notification on Today screen - how to disable - HD2 General

Hi , Is there a way to disable the today-screen notifications? In other words, when I have an SMS , I would like the phone to vibrate/ring only. I do not want the left softkey to change to "Notification". thanks

Settings->Menu->More->Sounds and notifications->Notifications.
Choose the new SMS setting and disable "show notification on screen" or whatever it says there...

there isnt setting "show notification on screen" ... only "play sound" , "display message on screen" , "flash light for" and "vibrate"

What is the item you've selected in the drop-down box? And what settings appear?

settings - sound and notifications -notification -event : drop down menu "Message: New message" . And there are settings :
Play soud
Repeat
Display message on screen
Flash light for
Vibrate

So what happens if you untick "Display message on screen"?

Common... "Display message on screen" is quite obvious, and it's not that hard to test if that is the correct setting...

Problem isnt "Display mesage on screen" problem is, I dont want the left softkey to change to "Notification" I dont need this notification.

But have you tried it?

Disabling that should stop the "Notification" left softkey from appearing...
Anyway, I've found that in my HD2 it never changes to Notification... What ROM are you using? Is Sense disabled?

Me too.
My pet peeve with the HD (and Diamond)
I believe there is a popup, but it leaves under the tf3d. Exactly same problem with the alarm clock.
Hi Guys,
I had the same problem until I found the answer burried in one of the forums. There is actually no problem with TF3D, or the Touch HD. It is just configuration option which is turned off in Touch HD.
Do this:
1) Go to Settings
2) under 'Personal' tab choose 'Sounds & Notifications'
3) go to 'Notifications' tab
4) in the 'Event' choose the 'Reminders'
5) tick the 'Display message on screen' option
That's it. Now you'll get the pop-up automatically.
you're the man!!!! THANKS

Yes there is? Go to the Notifications tab under Sound & Notifications, then use the pulldown menu at the top and go to Phone: Missed call and Messaging: New text message, and click the "flash light for..." box.
Hope that helps,
Petrov.

[Q] Notification Issue

Hey I am new to these forums and the CM7 ROM for the shift. I put it on last night and I am having some trouble with the notification settings. On the stock sense ROM I was able to set my notifications to vibrate when I got one, mainly a text message. On the CM7 ROM for notifications I can only put it to "no noise" at all or a ringtone, like a beep. I would like to have a vibrate option but I cannot seem to find one. I appreciate all the help. Let me know if you need any more information, thanks.
try this: go into settings then sound setting, then under general tap on vibrate and set it to always..
or u can open up ur messages then hit menu and then settings the scroll down to notifications make sure notifications are checked then go to notification settings and tap vibrate and set it to always

That worked! Thank you, I didnt even think about going about it that way.
I had this problem too...
Go to Settings>CyanogenMod Settings>Interface>Notification Power Widget
Now check "Notification Power Widget" and then go into widget buttons.
Pick whatever tickles your fancy, but make sure toggle sound is on. You can also change the types of sound in the bottom "Sound Modes" Category and you caan change the order if you hit "Back" then "Widget Button Order".
Now reboot your device and when it turns back on, slide down the notification bar and at the top there should be a toggle which looks like Vibrate/Sound/Silent and that's how you change the sound!
I am also having this issue. i have no vibrate on any text messaging or even gmail .
I have the newest cm7, have tried turning vibrate on where ever i could. Wiped and re flashed but have the same problem .
phone will only vibrate on call and when i change from silent to vibrate.

Notification sound on EVERYTHING after Oreo update

Well hi, I just got my Mi A1 model, it is a awesome phone, but after the Oreo update the notification sound (the one when you receive mail or something) is on EVERY goddamn notification. It ring even when I hace downloaded something, and the notification is "your download is complete"
It is a small bugger, but it can get pretty annoying, anyone have this issue or know how to fix that?
Yeah, I get it every time I lose reception and then once again as soon as I connect. You can see how this could be very annoying while travelling.
Disable it via advanced notification control - hold your finger on notification, click on "all categories" or "more settings" and change it to your liking.
Thanks!
