Branimir,
1.will 2.2 ever come to x10?
- like I’ve said earlier: not ruled in nor out at this point, i.e. it might but I can’t promise, sorry.
2.multitouch?
- no such plans commited.
3.flash?
- no such plans commited.
4.16 m colors?
- no such plans commited.
5.camera flash?
- doesn’t seem included in this coming update as far as I can see but I have forwarded feedback on that earlier – will look into it!
http://blogs.sonyericsson.com/products/2010/09/23/update-on-updates/comment-page-19/#comment-64035
Regarding 16 mil. colours:
Why doesn’t X10 have 16 mil. colours with 2.1? Performance problems? Hardware again?
RS says: Sorry but I don’t know the reason at this time. I guess it could be hardware dependant or due to priorities in resources for development. I’ll see if I can find out.
Thanks for the post. It's a bunch of non-answers really but atleast I don't have to browse through the Sony Ericsson blogs to find them.
When they do have a plan - we see delays ... When they do not have plans I suppose it is a clear "no".
So for sure no 16 mil colours and no flash. For multitouch it was clear earlier.

Just go through the comments in the blog...............Rikard was patient enough to answer many questions.....
Thanks for the post OP
would be great if you would update the first post to include what ever he says
Much appreciated
In all honesty, all those answers are like the answers we get from politicians. In other words, they are not answers at all, they are simply evasions.
Update on arabic support from Rikard
I asked him about Arabic support in the coming update, His answer was, i quote,
"I don’t know. I’ve checked my sample here and it doesn’t seem to include Arabic letters at least. But perhaps there could be language additions in the second update, I will try to look into it!"
I have also contacted SE Middle East on their facebook page, they answered that the support for Arabic will be added in November(on old update schedule, i guess). So that may not happens(if it ever happens) until early 2011.
Perhaps we could revive this thread? It would really help a lot of people if you post what Rikard says over here - note, no discussion, just what he posted. Then we don't need to wade through all the 500 comments cursing SE and the spam comments etc
I don't see any helpful answer.

+1. Keep posting and keep this thread towards the front.
ATM, I feel I'm missing two things only... (anything over these would be a bonus)
1. Camera Flash.
2. In-call-volume.
If SE can do something about this, would be really great.

Let's not turn this into another bashing and whining thread about SE. If people understood the facts versus jumping on the misinformation bandwagon they might actually enjoy the X10 experience.

Lol. Yes, since that is working out so well. So far there isn't one post about what Rikard says since September.
That's coz Rikard isn't saying anything. I guess he won't say much about the x10 now that the new phones will be announced next week

He has since September. He's not going to post it here for us too.
Here's an interesting one... what do we think about this logic?
Q: Why do you lock the boot loader of your devices? Isn’t Android supposed to be open source?
A: Yes, Android is an open source platform. Anyone can download it, modify it to their liking and install it on hardware they have designed. A mobile device is much more than the operating system. In our phones there are functionality that have to be secure such as SIM-lock and DRM. We currently don’t have a solution in place to secure that while opening the bootloader and therefore it would break legal agreements with many of our partners if we do.”
I just wanted to make this thread in hopes that it would possibly get a sticky or some sort of recognition. I see a lot of people making tons of new threads and comments that I think are pointless and should not be repeated over and over again. More specifically like: The Xoom is "dead", the development scene for the Xoom is going nowhere, why aren't they porting more OS's to the Xoom, and why is the Xoom behind in development... those kinds of things I see people say a lot around here.
The answer: The Honeycomb source code is not, and will not be released by Google... period. They have it locked up tight, and are not letting it out until they feel it is ready to be released to the public. The developers cannot do much more than they already have done without the Honeycomb source code. End of story.
The Xoom development scene does assume that everything will be all set and released with the Ice Cream Sandwich release here in the near future, which indeed makes perfect sense. And, because the Xoom was the first Honeycomb tablet, it's Google's baby: The one and only true and complete vanilla stock Google experience tablet. Thus: It is being protected by Google, if you will.
Maybe we will stop getting loads of threads complaining about the same exact thing. The answer to these questions have already been answered a billions times about 5 months ago when Google said that they will be holding onto the Honeycomb source until further notice. Please read this, everyone. Not trying to be mean or anything, but... I'm surprised that the Mods haven't spoken up about this. I thought one was supposed to read and make sure that the topic they are about to post about hasn't been mentioned yet before making a new thread?
I'm a very nice guy, and I am not one to complain about anything. I love helping people: it's what I do best! But... we do need to get this thing under control. Almost every day I see a new thread or a comment saying something like "the Xoom development scene is dead". This just shouldn't be happening. It's almost like bashing the Xoom in its own home. That's not a healthy thing to do now is it? Or trying to make it look bad and outdated by saying that the scene is dead, when in reality it really is the complete opposite. Overall: It's wasting thread space, causing a lot of annoyances, and a lot of the frequent Xoom posters such as myself are having to repeat themselves a billion times over with every new thread and comment about this topic. Hopefully something can be done about this.
Thanks for listening! All I ask is for people to read before posting these kinds of threads or comments on your friendly neighborhood XDA forums.
Yes, good points diablo2224, and to add to that, all of the improvements and increased functionality that the Team Tiamat and others have brought to the Xoom are really vital to it's continued relevence. Solarnz just gave us a peek at some new goodies in an upgoming rom and they look great! Xoom development is far from dead, source code or no source code.
I've seen the threads and it hasn't deterred me, the fact is Google is a monster company now and them buying Motorola mobility is one of the factors I bought my Xoom the other day... I personally see more to come and can wait

Indeed. Team Tiamat is really doing an excellent job. Without the source they are doing spectacular! It amazes me at the stuff they have pulled off so far. The new universal rooting method for all Xoom's is quite an impressive feat.

Personally, the comments and threads don't particularly bother me very much either. I just want the people to know what the situation is, and why the scene has been "slower" than the other Honeycomb tablets. And to stop making negative comments towards the Xoom in that factor. If we all were a little more knowledgeable about reasoning rather than rationality... I think the comments and threads about this would come to a halt as we would all be on the same page.
" The Honeycomb source code is not, and will not be released by Google... period."
This isn't entirely true... just because its not out doesn't mean its not coming out.
They were waiting for ICS to be released first since Ice cream sandwich shares a lot of the code base of Honeycomb.... I imagine its going to be out sometime during the holidays.
http://www.engadget.com/2011/03/24/google-keeping-honeycomb-source-code-on-ice-says-its-not-ready/
That Engadget post is over 6 months old...
The official word as of today is they will never release the Honeycomb source code, and the ICS source code will be released a few weeks after the launch of the Galaxy Nexus.
why no HC sources? Well, the reason behind the decision to not release it still stands: it was an interim release meant at the tablet market, and they didn't want everyone to jump on it and release phones and what-not based on that code. ICS is the solution to that problem.
Just tell us we'll have unimaginable coolness on our Xooms.
I would like to start a petition for Sony to release the latest sources for Xperia PLAY to the community. I am disappointed by the news but I completely understand and agree. The gamepad is the major reason for this phone and by developers not updating their games to ICS caused all sorts of stability issues.
So I figure for now lets see if we can get the sources and let the XDA devs have a grand old time picking it apart and seeing what awesome goodness they can do with it!
ICS is nice eye candy and I for one found better results on GB then ICS, probably becuase I am on CDMA. But still I would love for everyone to have the option of using some custom ROMs sourced from the latest sources. Everyone who is game (pun) please sign below if you agree. And PLEASE DO NOT COMPLAIN ON THIS THREAD. This thread is about looking positive, moving on and hoping for the best. This phone is still awesome an I still absolutely love my device.
Also there is a poll, choose whether or not you want the sources.
So again.................
*****PLEASE DO NOT COMPLAIN ON THIS THREAD*****
***Just noticed right before i finished this post there was another post for a petition, did not mean to make a double post, but this post also has a POLL. Everyone please use the POLL in addition to signing below. Thank you****
As SuperNoodles2011 has made a poll on the Official Sony Forum. (Thank you SuperNoodles2011)

Sony, thank you for your efforts with ICS for our phone. I would like to respectfully request though that the latest ICS sources be released to the Android community to let those who choose to conitnue with, that they may do so.
And if possible, allow us to help you find a solution to improve overall user experience, and push for a later ICS release.

sony please release the sources for the community here
if sources would be released i am sure that developers could release a better Rom then sony themself since sony puts so much BS on their Stock rom that not nessacry
IMO If we won't get the official update, I think Sony must give us a chance between stay in the latest official Gingerbread rom or install an official custom ICS rom under our own risk.
I want them to release the sources too! I understand their decision but at least they should give us their latest sources
I understand Sony's decision and thank them for giving us a Beta to test ICS on our devices. But I would love to see what xda-developers could do with our phone having the latest source code.
SONY: If you want to give up then it's fine, Just give us the latest sources as I hope there was some progress made after the beta was released. We have some great Devs that can do a lot with whatever has been done so far. As you may know this is a major disappointment to the Xperia play owners so at least give us a shot. It's really not too much to ask.

in theory they MUST have some newer ROM for possible bug fixes they have tryed so lets hope we get it
the only reason sony gave us the beta was to confirm what they already thought: ICS on the PLAY is too much effort.
Give us the source code (especially for the touchpads). Open source means open source

Meanwhile if everyone could use the link in the first post to make your views on it and help show sony we need the ROMS brought here id appreciate it ALOT
I also would like Sony to release the sources for their ICS implementation, assuming they'll refuse to release an official ROM. But I'm not holding my breath. I spoke to tech support last night and they did not have any information regarding this model of the Galaxy Note 10.1. Since they didn't seem very knowledgeable I sent Samsung support an email where I stated that while I do enjoy my tablet I'm rather taken aback by the lack of updates. I requested that they at least state that they're not releasing updates for this instead of having us keep hoping.
I got this reply earlier this afternoon:
=============================
Dear Steve ****,
Thank you for contacting Samsung. I understand that you are not happy with the Samsung Note as there are no updates on it.
I know how you feel as a customer. If I had been in your situation, I would feel the same.
If you are referring to the GT-N8013 Note, I am afraid to inform that, latest version available is 4.1.2. I do understand that must make you feel upset. We do not have any information on release of updates on your tablet model. I do not want to provide any false information. Hope you understand.
=============================
This obviously doesn't mean other tablets won't get updates and it's clear that the 2014 Galaxy Note 10.1 will, but it is a little refreshing to at least know not to expect anything. Disappointing, but refreshing. Hopefully this'll clarify any doubts.
Maybe I'll start working on a ROM for it. Haven't made one in a while.
Where did they say that no updates are coming? They said none are available and they don't have any information to provide on when they would be coming. Samsung has already officially announced that the tablet will be being updated to 4.4

False title as the body of the OP conflicts with it. Do we really need threads like this? Do we not have better things to do?
*Thread Reported
When do you realize that the Samsung support is just a joke - nothing more or less... They have no info, they don't know anything and if something happens, they know it last... Sorry, but that I feel about them.
This thread is useless. There's official information out there sent out by Samsung's Press Dpt. Why did you even bother asking a tech guy/tech support when one says one thing and another says something else? Like:
- "Your tablet will get the Android OS update" (LOL, no mention of version nor anything else)
- "The Galaxy Note will get 4.2 Android update" (Yeah.....)
- "No updates"
- "No info"
Basically that resumes how useless this information was to our forums (it does not contribute to anything, really). So please request to delete this. Or you could've at least posted in the appropriate thread.

I've given up waiting. At this point I can't imagine their month-old build is less buggy than the up to date CM12 nightlies anyways. So I'm just sticking with the nightlies getting pretty shameful battery live compared to 05Q. All I want is for them to release the new camera on the Play Store so we don't have to wait :'(
I didn't put much hope for oxygen os, waiting for 12S
Everyone knew this already, i'm not sure why its such a big surprise.
Oh well. CM12 nightlies is good enough for me that I don't mind putting up with some of the silly bugs.
They need to clean up their act and speed things up. I'm sticking with nightlies but would appreciate an official stable release.
It's very bad when company not doing there promise about 3 month i bought this phone because of good support and in time promise but for sorry they couldn't. I understand about small company etc but they should say 6 month or something else to be sure that they could. It's very bad. Almost everyone got lollipop except us i think i will sell my opo and will go back to Samsung
Well its better then nothing. Good to see mid-late March dead line. 1 month is not alot if final release is nice and stable
How has OxygenOS been delayed? There has never even been an announcement about a release date.
Honestly surprised people still care about OxygenOS. Why buy a phone that has the unlimited capibilities of being rooted and unlocking the bootloader if you won't do anything with it? Just install Slim and move on, it's not like Oxygen looks all that groundbreaking and spectacular.

What are the differences between Opensource Cyanogen and Closed? Just the features/apps? Are the blobs/kernel taken from closed source?
I'm not surprised by the delay. Plenty of serious CM12 issues that I would imagine are currently present in internal CM12S builds too.
The sad part of all this is that OnePlus / CM actually has a great track record of releases from 4.4.2 to 4.4.3 to 4.4.4 all happened super fast. Clearly 5.0 is a much bigger release but I'd rather them spend the time to squash bugs than release a crappy ROM. If they did that I'm certain there would be a complaint thread about that as well...

Clearly you have never tried other phone companies and you have no clue how things work. They delay cause they want the Os to be as stable as possible with all the features working. So they could release a beta or an alpha now but it would be buggy and not working correctly, then people start complaining again about it etc etc. Just wait or flash any other custom rom that is already lollipoped. There are a ton of options all stable enough for daily use and so many great developers that make great kernels roms for the Opo. Just saying you can freely go back to Samsung or any other company you used to and pay the overpriced same spec phones with even less official support.
