Hi, I have a rooted Sprint Hero and can't seem to get very many custom roms to run (I have only tried 2.1's), pretty much just the Fresh Rom and the Cm21v1u1 rom. Any ideas if I'm doing something wrong. By the way I'm using RA-heroc-v1.6.2 recovery image. Thanks for any ideas!
You guys have your own subforum now,....

I've rooted my Rogers HTC Dream and tried multiple Roms ... none seem to work.
They all hang at the Rogers logo. At this point all i can do is flash the boot and system images back to the stock ROM.
Why is that isn't the hardware all the same? What makes the rogers dream different?
This has been discussed countless of times, please use the search function in the future .
We don't know exactly why other roms do not boot on the device but we suspect it might have something to do with the kernel. We are currently trying to have more info from HTC/Rogers about this issue.
First of all, none of the roms out there right now will work. The boot offsets for Rogers are just different. Roms would need to be specifically edited for the Rogers Dream at the very least.
Cyanogen has attempted to build a rom for it. But it didn't work out.

There is something funky with the kernel shipped on those devices. We will figure it out

Thanks for the reply ... much appreciated.
Maybe a quick sticky would help all us Rogers Dream noobs that come here looking for a Roms after rooting our phones.
thanks again for the quick reply ...
Some roms will work, if a rom uses the original Rogers Kernel and you change the boot.img to Haykuro's one it will work. But there are very very few roms that would work like this.
I am currently running Rogers Ramjet but I think I'd rather have the stock one, some things don't work too well on it.
Oh, that's interesting. I haven't considered the idea. I'll try it out later.
soon...
I noticed on Haykuro's twitter page that we'll soon be able to flash roms...

Hi!
Thanks for this forum folks.
Ive rooted yesterday, when i got my phone. Now im thinking about trying a new rom.
Is it hard to install? Does pictures and apps disappear from my sd card?
Please give me some hints for this. Where i need to read, and how i do this.
I also read about ROM manager.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=639153
Does that mean you dont have to fix in the recovery mode etc....
Thanks
I'm also interested in this subject. I haven't rooted my phone yet and I'm wondering which rom (custom and official) is the best ??
I'm in the same boat, just got my legend a few days ago and will be rooting it soon. I have very little space on my device so I want something with sense but not all the extra garbage that comes bundled with it.
I'm loving the phone but since its my first android I need a little guidance
P. S. I got swift key beta and its effing amazing!

Same here. Rooter 2 days ago. I read a lot about custom roms and procedure to load but am a bit confused. Small summary would be hight apreciated.
Hey Everyone,
Please forgive me if this is a repost, I've been searching for awhile and cannot find any answers.
I'm an at&t user using an unlocked G1 to see if I liked android enough to commit.
Anyway after trying for 3 days (lol) to root and upgrade to 2.2 with CM6. I kind of did it. The only thing is I think I skipped the part about backing up. And now cannot install GAPPS. I'm a total noob as you can tell, so is there anything I can do get GAPPS installed ?.
If not, how would you suggest I go back to stock 1.6
Thanks in advance,
Lee.
Okay, got it working now.
Was using wrongfile for gapps.
PS: forums are awesome, Thanks for all your hard work.

Well i've been waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting.... for telus to release the official 2.1 but it seems that that's never going to happen so now I want to root my hero. Since i'm new to rooting my question is which ROM would you guys recommend, I want the one that's the same as the Sense UI 2.1 that would be on the hero if telus wasn't retarded. There are so many ROMs I can't figure out which one is which so if you guys could help it would be appreciated
You can upgrade the Telus Hero to 2.1 without rooting. I did mine the other day.
It will be the unbranded WWE 2.1 ROM

I have not seen this anywhere, do you have a link and just to clarify I have the TELUS hero does it work on this phone.
Once you've installed a recovery rom you can try all the rom's you want. You can switch between then in about 5 minutes or so, so its really easy to try out lots. My guide will allow you to gain root access and install a custom recovery. See my sig for a link.
Kk, Ive been looking more and I think that VillainRom 12 is the best for me anyway

It is probably the best place to start IMHO.

Hey HD2 guys. Need some help from a local pro. My girlfriend has an HD2 that is running just terribly. Force closes all the time etc. Upon inspection I see that she's running a version of CM7 from February 2011 (thanks to her brother). Can someone give me a quick runthrough of flashing stock. I am absolutely not a noob and know my way around kernels, ROMs, fastboot and recoveries. I would've just searched and started reading but its not my phone and I'm in a bit of a time crunch. Thanks HD2 community! Oh and the phone is T-Mobile if that's important

Just download a stock RUU from the HTC website for your particular phone (i.e. EU/TMOUS, probably best to download v 3.14 for either), enter the bootloader through volume down + power and flash it via USB. Then, download HSPL4 and flash to a stock SPL such as 3.03 or 2.08.
If you want to flash a better Android version instead, just follow the guide in my sig.
