Can we use Paul's method?

I'm a linux dev but not a android dev so please forgive the ignorance.
Can we take the work Paul has done and use it against the incredible? What do we need for that to work? a recover image? It sounds like he's gotten it to work with the hboot 0.80(not documented yet). I know the incredible is at hboot 0.77.
I dont know if the hboot 0.80 tricks would work for us since we're on a lower version.

We really need pauls help. He doesn't want to help because he's in the UK. And doesn't have access to one. So..someone needs to talk him into it. Lol. We really need his help. Unless you can find out more about his method and help make a custom Rom/recovery for us.

I might be willing to give up mine and ship it to him(wanting it back of course). If he breaks it, he breaks it..its under insurance.
I'm new to the scene so I don't have any relationship with him to ask as a favor that he try it. If someone could work that side of it..maybe we can get him to work on it.

Wow thatd be pretty sweet. Um talk to someone in the root thread. Someone's bound to know someone or head over too www.modaco.com and pm him yourself. I'm very sure if he wasn't responsible he would love to have access to the incredible. Doubt he will say no. Plus sense gives you the option to authenticate your gmail over WiFi.

Used to read the Eris forum religiously and I had an idea... If he agrees why not start a collection to get an incredible? Five hundred bucks is a lot of money, but not I'd there are fifty people contributing which I'm sure we can swing...that's ten bucks each!

Why don't you think his method would work? I know that there are some differences between the two, but its a start isn't it?

which irc is he in?

Because he is using a test img that was signed by HTC, that is why you need a gold card, witch as of right now I believe gold cards are disabled for us. But the way it works is with the gold card you can flash any Rom that is made for your device, ie bypassing carrier restrictions. Because the test Rom he is using has been signed with test keys it will allow you to than flash the update that was again signed with test keys. As of right now there is no way for us to use this method. But I am still going to see if I can get more info, from him. And lastly, we have a cdma device and there roms are gsm, that's a great way to brick your phone real fast, if you could find a way to flash it.

I wonder if the right 'donation' would motivate some developers to get to work on the root

I'm not going down that road again with donating. It just caused too many problems.

I agree donating can just cause a big mess. I am down for however I can help tho as I miss my rooted moto droid. lol

You could donate after the root was made.
I'm sure it's in the works...most like to sit back from the forums and do it in the privacy of a few to avoid being flooded with a million questions that have already been answered or questions about when it will be done.
Patience is a virtue.
Plus I won't be getting the phone for like a month. haha.

JTAG near Vancouver?

Hey guys, long story short, but I have to send back my brick to rogers, and in return they are replacing my (was) rooted G1 with a perfected SPL g1
I was wondering if there was anyone in the Vancouver Area that can help me out with a JTAG for my new retarded perfected SPL phone? Or perhaps am I SOL because they are all in Ontario?

Hey, curious to hear how you made out finding someone to JTAG your phone closer to BC. I'd love to hear if anyone can recommend someone, if not I'd look at shipping to ON. Thanks! :good:

i love this website....i love this CDMA group especially....All the Devs...members..
i remember when the official release(2.1) came out... each and every member here were warning users not to use it...as it will lead to losing root....
Some yelled, some warned..all for one cause to protect the member's phone from not being able to root and not being able to enjoy the custom ROM's(kudos to all the devs)....
days went...and now when people started complaining that they want root,
the senior members/devs came forward and are willing to help.
very very dedicated community...
few members that i know off who are trying so hard to root the official 2.1 update...

Wanted...Alive! Android 2.2 w/Sense

I'm probably nuts but I've been called worse on the Hero Forum...LOL...but here is it. I am not a Sense lover, I am a Hero fan so I would really like to see Android 2.2 running Sense on my phone. So...I am hereby offering a reward/bounty/incentive to the first person that can post a fully functioning ROM to the forum that is Android 2.2 with Sense. I am offering $100. I know it's not a ton for what you will be doing but I'm sure that its more than most of you make on here. This is a very serious offer, take me up on it and find out. If anyone else comes along and wants to add to the pot, we will just all make a pact to fulfill the bounty when the product is delivered. Maybe together we can make this worth someone's while...
The rules:
It has to be fully functioning. That means everything, phone, camera, camcorder, mms, sms, gps, etc...and Sense (I think there is a new Sense that goes with Android 2.2) has to work too, all of it. I won't be the judge of this, I'll get someone who is more qualified than me, hopefully I can persuade someone like impaler747 to be the judge.
Needs to be done by mid Jan. as I get a new phone in Feb.
I'm not rich but I think this is worth it and with the dropoff of Hero devs lately I think someone needs to step up and put out some incentive. Any takers?
PS-If this is offensive to anyone, sorry, just trying to help and I am not smart enough to learn 'devving' and too old to start anyways. LOL

you've got to be kidding. you expect people to believe you're gonna put up 100 bucks for a slower rom than cm6 literally half a month before you upgrade and spend money on that? right on dude. if you really want to help donate 100 to nfinitefx45 who is currently working hard on this exact thing, and hope they get it done. and by the way, see my sig, maybe you and this dude can have a sense party together.

I'm no dev, I really appreciate all the FREE hard work they have done to make my phone amazing, and I try to help other members when i can, but check how many legitimate threads i've started with dumbass questions, oh that's right, i haven't made a legitimate thread, and i've been here since early '09.
added to sig. maybe I should add this thread too, hmmmm at least there was a fake bounty offered, lol.

well, i guess i don't really know, but logic is not on your side. for instance, you claim to want to donate to a dev, yet you have no donation stars next to your name on xda? also, why give up a hundred a few weeks before an upgrade? also, why not donate to the existing devs for the existing rom which works in almost every way... i am sure all the devs who have been working on sense 2.2 for MONTHS are going to go really really fast now just for you good luck. i will no longer respond.

Youre right, I havent donated to anyone here before, I did donate to cyanogen for cm6. Im glad you wont respond anymore, youve proven your point so clearly up to this point on something that had absolutely nothing to do with you and clearly didnt interest you anyways so peddle your crap elsewhere thanks. Developers Continuum Phone

Forgive my reposting this in general, but my forum noobness wont allow a user with< 10 posts to post on dev pages.
I have seen a range of 250-400 for the Continuum on Ebay. I am willing to donate up to $50 towards a dev phone if I can be assured that the dev will consistantly continue work on this phone. I know it has potential and I myself have started studying Android programming, been messing in SDK and have a running Eclair phone emulator on my PC, but I don't have the history with linux and android to make anything of it yet.
If I get a dev's word that they will keep up on this phone, count me in for 50 bones towards one. (plus further donations if anything usefull comes along afterwords)

I just "converted" to the Continuum after buying it from a mass auction on eBay. $220 with free shipping; phone seems mint. Look up "*MINT* VERIZON SAMSUNG i400."
However it's procured, I'm willing to pitch in a few bucks for it. It's a neat piece of machinery, and with some tinkering it could be awesome. Shame I'm too dumb to be a developer.

Ok everyone, im going to purchase another continuum to send to adrynalyne and perhaps send my otherone to imnuts .... if i do this i hope everyone will pitch into my paypal to help me offset the cost. I just sent the email to the seller and hopefully i will have it tomorrow. I'll email adrynalyne and let him know that im planning on doing this.
