I have a Trinity and my phone provider is vodafone Germany. I tried everything to get a Video call to work but it just doesn't work. I have the 3g symbol on the display all the time and I live in Cologne which has UMTS everywhere. But if I call a number (my wifes number same provider and standing next to me so she has UMTS too) it seems as it should be ringing at the other end but it doesn't even ring there ...
Did anyone manage to make a video call with the trinity?

I couldnt send mms too. so i completely resetted (hard reset) and followed the vodafone mms instructions. Now it works. But still no video call.
Still no video calls on german vodafone?
so no one has managed to make a video call with the trinity on vodafone germany?
Today I made my first video call with T-Mobile Netherlands, so it does work.
still no video calls
I tried with my trinity with several vodafone germany cards and it does not work. It seems my device is defective.
Tried it last week with a video-call to my brother (he using a SE K800i on Orange), and it seems to work great Had to change the dial-pad back to the default HTC one though, cause the M$ one doesn't show the buttons to initiate a video-call
i have made a videocall with t-mobile nl, but the other person did not see me.. i could see him on my screen., and myself in the lower corner. And no, we were not filming eachother. ;-)
what about that ? we both were on umts network, standing next to eachother.
is it something on my phone i forgot to turn on ?
i have a orange spv m700, (yes officially unlocked, thnx to the nice man in the orange shop!)
he has a nokia N73
It seems the Vodafone network in germany does not "see" that my trinity is on UMTS. If I try to use Vodafone TV it says that I am currently not on UMTS which I am.... very strange... any help is much appreciated
I am having the same problem with Telsra in Australia. I have the 3G symbol, the service says it is on UMTS Telstra, can browse the net with HSDPA, everything else seems fine.
Maybe a lame question, but you have the video call service enabled by your operator/contract? Maybe you require some settings on the phone to be recognized as video call enabled/ to operate on the network?
MMS
I can not send MMS too. It drives me really crazy!!!
I have a dutch KPN provider

Since no one has answered this question yet: Yes, it works, albeit not to my satisfaction.
I'm using a Vodafone compact GPS (which should be identical to the HTC 3600=Trinity) on Vodafone Germany on the other (dark) side of the Rhine with good UMTS coverage (at least two bars). When phoning to, say, a Samsung UMTS mobile phone, I receive good picture quality and reasonable sound quality. However, the other side fails to receive decent sound; what is arriving there is regularly sort of "chopped" and hardly understandable. I'm not sure about the reason for this, but I suspect that it is my "Trinity" that is misbehaving (too slow? inadequate configuration settings?), as the Samsung's video arrives nicely and has good quality. It could also be the other way, of course, or it could be a Vodafone network problem.
Does anyone have any experience (good or bad) with the video call quality on the Trinity?
PS: Hello to everybody, I'm new to this forum, and I apologise for any misbehaviour in advance as it is not intended , and yes, I have used the "search" option .

A hard reset involves deleting all data, right? I'm not looking forward to configuring the ppc again, really. But I guess it's worth a try, as the AEG-principle hardly ever fails...

Hi Elfriede. Welcome to the forum. Case you are german (der Name klingt danach) try this forum too: http://www.ppc-welt.info/community/forumdisplay.php?f=174
I sold my P3600 which I had bought from amazon just for the not working video calls. I then bought a Vodafone compact GPS... guess what... the video calls didn't work too. The guys at vodafone (which I had phoned 10 times for this problem and which had told me it must be my p3600's fault) just forgot to switch UMTS on!!! Now it works (I lost a few 100 € just because of vodafone-no-competence-service...)
Hi. I am using the P3600 since February 07 and have noticed that sometimes callers are being forwarded to my voicemail directly without the phone ringing. I checked the service settings (diverts), and what I do have enabled is a divert to voicemail *if the phone is busy, unavailable or out of reach*.
I am using Pushmail / Activesync via UMTS and ask myself if the phone is dropping in a "busy" state while downloading new e-mail. If somebody would call exactly then, this could cause the divert to my voicemail.
Did anybody have a similar experience?
Thank you and best regards
Stefan

Hi
On German Vodafone this happens if
a) HSDPA is enabled
b) you ar online with a data connection
c) you get a phone call then
I disabled HSDPA and the problem is gone.
which network do you use?
do you have HSDPA enabled?
I've had the same issue. I have Cingular/AT&T. They tried troubleshooting the phone, and ended up sending me a new one. Weeks later I find that I'm still having this problem. If you find out an answer let me know...
HSDPA in use
Hi - thank you for your reply. I am in Switzerland, and I use Swisscom as a provider. HSDPA is one of the option the phone goes for if no other is available. Is there a way to disallow the usage of HSDPA? Thanks and best regards, Stefan

Yes, there is. Try SK Tools. There is also a HTC Tool for this and http://www.fit4cat.de/portal.php has another tool. If you have problems finding one of these tools then send me a private message with your email adress.
Thank you - I will check tools out
Thank you very much - I will check those tools out!
Hi, guys!
I'm from Ukraine, and my operator doesn't have 3G yet, only GSM/EGPRS.
And I don't use voicemail but there is lighter service here. If somebody called me when I was unavailable, out of zone I would receive SMS from operator with callee's number and call time.
And after switching to P3600 I began to receive such SMSes 5-7 time per day even if I'm sitting in my office all the time and is available.
I've written e-mail to HTC support but haven't received answer yet
does not happen only with P3600
I switched my SIM-card to a Sony Ericsson P990i - and was stumbling into the same problem. Calls sometimes get forwarded directly to my Voicemail if data connection is active. It seems to me rather a provider than a device problem ... ! I will discuss this with Swisscom. Thanks for the hint.
i wanted to know how do you guys use athena as a second device?
ideally id like to get a second device dedicated to voice calls only...
but i still want to browse and recieve my emails / sms via the athena..
is there anyway to call from your second device paired with athena using bluetooth ?
I use the Athena as a second device, but I have a "dual sim" subscription (I have two sim cards on the same subscription, both phones rings during incomming calls).

hmm this is interesting how did you do that ?
is it identical sim cards or different ones ?
and whats your provider?
My provider is the norwegian Telenor, and you can add the "Twin-SIM" to any subscription. You then have two SIM-cards with different phone numbers, but both will receive incomming phone calls on your "main phone number". However, if you send SMS from your second SIM card the "sender number" not be the "main phone number".
I like it alot. I have the second SIM card in the Athena, and the main card in TyTN or S620 (depending on my mood ).

what about when you call from your second phone ? does the different number show then too ?
Yes. Sorry I forgot to mention that. But I have turned on "hide Call ID" on the Athena, and I mainly use S620/TyTN for calling...
i c so its basicly two numbers?
hmm i talked to my service provider and they dont have this facility...
i want ideally athena for sms and data and my htc touch for voice...
basicly it would be ideal if the touch could act as a bluetooth headset
Does anyone know if T-Mo UK support this? I'd really like to use my Athena for data and my Tytn for voice on the same account.

Have you tried the LG Style-I Bluetooth HandSet with the Athena? I picked one up at Verizon Wireless for 24.95 and it works great with the Athena. I use my plantronics Bluetooth when driving, but stick the small Style-i handset in my front pocket, when walking around or just working in the office. The handset can be used to dial, answer or pick up calls just like another phone, without reaching for the athena. Has called ID, Missed call, etc. Works for me.
i had similar query last year....wanted to use my exec as a headset for the comp...to cut the story short...it could not be done with the MS BT Stack....however it might be possible with another BT Stack on the touch (sorry forgot the name of the stack)

yesterday i was trying to set up a conference call on my HD. Im currently with o2 in UK on contract. I called person 1 then put them on hold on called up person 2. I was able to speak each person seperatly while the other was on hold, but when i tryed to make it a conference call it wouldnt allow me to. Am i correct in assuming this is an issue with o2 and not the HD....?

Im also on O2 UK and i've tried the same with my Touch HD a few weeks ago and it wouldn't work. Like you i can have one person on hold and talk to another but can't conference. I think it's an O2 issue not a Touch HD issue.

Hi all,
I noticed a problem in my Nexus 4 - cannot make international calls (I dial the number, and then I immediately receive a "call ended" message without even a dial sound). No problem with local calls. I checked with my mobile provider and international calls provider and I'm open in their systems to dial internationally - so it must be something in the Nexus 4 settings - can anyone help? What should I change in my settings?
Thanks!

Do you have the country code before the number? For example if you want to call to Norway from another country you need do write "+47" or "0047" before the telephone number.
Sure - 00-country code-number
Nobody encountered this problem? Nothing to change in settings?

No, have never encountered that before and can't really think of any reason for your problem either, sorry.
Do you have it activated by your carrier? Most require you to enable international calling. Doesn't cost anything. It's there as a safeguard.
I had a similar issue last week. I travel a few times a year internationally. I'm on AT&T and I purchase a passport plan prior to travelling to Europe.
I traveled to Germany in April. Phone worked fine I could SMS (using stock messaging app in android 5.0.1) and Called my wife's cell by just like I do here in the states.
Last week I was in Denmark. I could SMS my wife (who was in-country with me), but when I tried to call her phone it went to some voicemail and never rang her phone. I tried calling a colleague back in the states with a different area code and that call wouldn't even go through. I SMS messaged people back in the states, travelling in Austria, and travelling in Ireland as I would normally do when sitting at home with success.
There's definitely some goofiness going on. Not sure if it was the local carrier had some issue. But it's strange I could SMS with zero issues but couldn't make a call to the same contacts. Unfortunately, I never tried direct dialing using international codes, so I'm not sure if that would have worked.
As an additional piece of information my wife number is in the following format in my phone's contacts XXXXXXXXXX and the other colleague I tried to call was in (XXX) XXX-XXXX. I've called both in the past from Germany (and likely France) with no issues.
Yes - it's already activated. Thanks. Still don't know what's the problem.

I talked to an AT&T rep yesterday. According to her some towers/networks don't play nice with international phones and require you to manually dial the international code and such to make a call.
So, if you can't make a call like you normally do by going to a contact or something, she said try dialing the number manually with the country code and everything.
