I didnt even know you could JTAG a phone i know you can JTAG a xbox 360 !
Sure, but I've not seen the info required for a Hero. Also, getting access to some of the points you need to solder to is not for the unskilled or faint hearted. Threads discussing looking for them involve disassembly steps such as unsoldering the chipsets
What advatages or features do you get from JTAGing a phone ?
If a device is bricked, it's the only recovery method left.

There is jtag pinout for other model.
If You need an jtag pinout for an model that You can't find anywhere You have to desolder it's cpu(msm7xxx) and trace it.
Here is pinout from cpu for those who need:
AC5 - nTRST
AD6 - TCK
AD4 - TMS
AB5 - TDI
AE6 - TDO
AE5 - RTCK
AB18 - PS_HOLD
Regards!
who may lift that secret.........?
Hi,
i'm sure there's at least one guy who knows about the JTAG testpoints on Hero.
See this thread at the ORT support forum.
Maybe we should contact Mr. qq9472981 or who ever took that picture
Anyway, after some intense investigation on my Hero mainboard, i'm pretty sure about the area of the testpoints.
Now we need the correct assignment
Best regards,
scholbert
I believe he doesn't have the jtag tp.
I tried to contact it but he didn't answered to me!

Hi everyone
Just wanted to post my report of this hack, since my powerbutton got ruined for some
reason, i might have dropped the device too much, anyway, the powerbutton was bent/pushed
off the circuitboard, so, as usual, i decided to fix it somehow since the warranty already
had expired.
this is how the device looked before the surgery:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
after disassembling the device, this is how the powerswitch looked on the circuitboard:
after soldering the switch back on the circuitboard, and testing the device, the button worked as it should, then i decided to
glue it to the circuitboard so it would stay there and not break again, great idea i thought,
but, after gluing it to the circuitboard, managing to put glue IN the switch, i had to remove the switch again and started trying
to "clean" the switch of all glue, but trying to clean a switch measuring 3 by 4 mm and reassembling it isn't that easy...
a disassembled switch:
so i decided to solder a couple of wires to the circuitboard instead, and the smallest switch i had around:
the final result, after adding some tape to keep it in place:
well, this is ofcourse a temporary solution until i can find an equal SMD-switch, shouldnt be that hard...
now i finally can upgrade the device from my buggy wm2003se to something else, like magneto...
and sorry for the large images, but i happen to like large images
looooooooool :lol: it looks sexy man 8)
Why not you replace the micro-switch ?
You can find it at any electronics shop... :wink:
I bet you dare to answer incoming calls in front of poeple, hehehehe
WOW!!!!! :shock:
I bet you will have problems in the airport security checkpoint!!! :lol:
That looks like a bomb!!!
hello my friend. I have exactly the same problem. Can you please post a picture and tell e exactly where i should solder the wires? thanks a lot
That's looklike XDA I rather than XDA II.
But you have an excellent idea to figure out the problem.
Hee hee, Hope you find that switch.
What the hell.. i cant look! its a turture man.. lolx just kidding.. find a replacement button asap dude..

this is probably the ugliest mod i've ever seen done to a phone! lol! :lol:
you gotta get that microswitch.. get that microswitch!

Great stuff!

looks pretty sexy,
nice job, and a great mod indeeed

i sure look like a bomb ... pls get a replacement casing.

I think he out did Macguyver, that was over the top! Hey at least he got a working unit. Just don't whip that out on a crowded bus or in a bank, someone might think it's a detonator :shock: . I'm just kidding, you did good in fixing it when you needed it. Maybe you can search the nearby thread on the guy with washed out xda2 in some water, he has a aligment problem and might can use some tips. Cheers.
ROFL!! u're the man! it's ugly but u sure got the job done. :lol: post the new image after u've manage to find the micro switch.
a lil story that out of topic :
my device once got soaked in the rain. the mic was broken so i sent it to the O2 centre to get it fix. they asked me to pay RM 1750 (that's about USD 460) bcoz they have to change to a new motherboard as they say that the mic is attached to the motherboard. that's just crazy. so i said to them just return the device to me. then i just use the Xda II with a bluetooth headset. i guess if i sent my device to u. maybe u could mod it with the big mic attached to my XDA. :lol:
just kidding man. good work anyway 8)

nice, how did you get your hands on one of those bad boys? anyword on expect release date instead of just "end of 2008?" And is it the black model that we see in the original ad or are they really going to change the color to that metallic color that looks so cheap that's seen in some recent photos?

I work in the cellphones market and since I work in the technical department I recived a sample to test our gadgets, like battery, hearphones, chargers......
The one I have is metallic. I agree Black is better but it doesn't look bad, I'll try to upload some images.
sounds good. i wonder if they decided to switch from black to metallic when they found out that the diamond or pro was coming out all black and wanted to diffrenciate earlier in the design process.
Like I said this is just a sample, maybe they will change it again.

Well I can see where you're going with this. But DDoSing a mobile phone isn't the smartest thing I think. Im not sure how ISP's assign ip's, but I don't think every mobile device gets it's own unique IP. I tried DDoSing my phone through WiFi yesterday, that worked

Thanks, for your smart answer. It's a school assignement (master degrees). And i have not the choice about the topic. So the goal of the topic it's to study the vulnerabilities of the phone OS. And the main goal is to hack or DoS a phone but use the vulnerabilities of the OS and not use Social engineering (phishing...).

since this is happening when you are wiping the emmc in recovery, and after it leaves your phone completely worthless, i think its safe to say the emmc is failed.

You can't not solder it with a regular soldering iron, you need a tiny tiny iron bit!

Hi, I have the same broken micro usb issue on A68.
Followed your link, the product on the link is listed as
'Remote Stock' (A68 SUB_BD equal to 90AT0020-R10010).
There is a similar looking one (A68 SUB_BD equal to 90AT0021-R10000)
which is in stock. URLS to both below.
Can I order any one of these? Please help.
asusparts.eu/en/Asus-90AT0020-R10010
asusparts.eu/en/Asus-90AT0021-R10000
Thanks for your help.

i guess they are the same, atleaset thats what the 'online chat helpdesk' guy on their website said.
I dint order it, instead got it fixed from asus service centre. It cost me 160$.
The item from the website + shipping charge will cost you nearly 120$ or more,
its better you get it fixed by asus.
I have the same problem.
Found replacement board on aliexpress.com/item/Free-shipping-charging-port-connector-USB-dock-flex-cable-For-Asus-Padfone-2-II-A68-BLue/2038766165.html
Still too expensive(

Hi! I'm from Portugal and I have the same problem as all of you here....
But if you think that the service from Asus was expensive... tell me what you think about the 859$ that Asus Portugal asked me to repair the micro-usb!!!
At the website that was posted here earlier, I can by the pice by 69$... I only don't have the knowledge to replace it....
If any one knows about some tutorial or some guidelines that makes me understand how to do it without damaging the entire device, I really be gratefull!!
Hoping to get some answers...
Kisses,
Lili
Search on AliExpress for "charger flex For ASUS PadFone 2 A68 charging port connector USB dock flex cable free shipping" and resolve your problem.
I bought mine and changed, it took a week to receive.
