RegEdit remot - HD2 General

I can use RegEdit in Windows 7 to connect to my T-Mobile Leo connected via USB cable. However it wants a username and password.
I never created one on the phone. Is there one built in by default or something?

how 2 use non default port with Terminal Service Client?

In WM5 there is a built in Terminal Service Client. I need to connect to a PC that is behind a firewall and is using a non default port number.
I am easily able to connect via Windows RDP, but the WM Terminal Service Client does not seem to even try and connect if i use a non standard port number.
Example: \\10.0.0.1:4540
Any ideas how to get this to work?
I'm holding a baby in one hand, so briefly, is possible, need to edit registry appropriately. VJFullscreenTSC thread may discuss setting but it's googalable. I think it's the only setting that can be changed.

Bluetooth & Vista

Has anybody been able to create a bluetooth connection/sync with Vista??
If so how??
vista intends to use "bluetooth" word in registry value instead of your "COM" port value where mine is COM12 port via bluesoliel so many times i have to use regedit to find and change name from "bluetooth" to "COM12" for it to recoganise and you have to download newer type of active sync for vista from microsoft(MS) site after you have got its genuine key checked from MS site ,else you might have to buy vista supported bluetooth or upgrade your drivers which are still in process of developing them the way vista wants them to be.
Go to \HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services, modify the value name "SerialPort" from "Bluetooth or Infrared" to "COM12", where COM12 is the virtual com port associated to your bluetooth incoming com port(12 in my case). The number varies from pc to pc, so choose the right com port for your specific use.

ActiveSync issues

My 8525 has a Schaps ROM on it, and it will not sync with ActiveSync.
The phone will charge from USB, but when plugged in I get no error, no event or anything that the PC has noticed a device has been connected.
I have tried multiple USB cables, mulitple USB ports, multiple PCs, uninstalled and reinstalled ActiveSync 4.5.
I also have the settings for Advanced Network Features in the USB to PC settings unchecked.
Any ideas?
Did you check you connection settings in AS 4.5 as per attached, specifically ALLOW USB CONNECTIONS? Also, Windows Firewall or your AV may block the TCP ports used by AS4.5 (if using the advanced network stuff - RNDIS).
On the phone side, if your partnership with the PC was already created, Did you try sync via Bluetooth? Does it work? You can also try WM5Storage or Cardexport just to test the USB port is working.
I havent tried those programs you were referring to, are the free?
From Windows Firewall I manually set all of the UDP and TCP ports to be allowed as well as all of the executables needed for ActiveSync.
I have also tried using all of the COM settings from the connection settings within ActiveSync and it is still a no go.
Aside from this I am thinking it may be a hardware issue...
Are you using XP or Vista? There are extra things you need to do to sync properly with vista. do a search on the forum.
Cheers...

Also with vista after syncing you will not notice contacts or address book being copied from your device. It only syncs any files. Please correct me if i am wrong.
When i was using xp, after a sync all my contacts will be copied inside the contacts in my outlook in the pc but now in vista, even after it informs a successful sync I dont see any contacts getting copied into the outlook. Then in some forums and google I have seen people mention that the new mobile device center for vista doesnt support the contacts and calendar sync...tell me i am correct pls
Sorry sany, Can't tell what I don't know. I use XP (microsoft would have to pay me to use Vista). I just read about all the problems syncing with vista. I believe theres a fix floating around the forum but don't know anymore than that.
Cheers...
Hi Vasichko,
I'm assuming you are working with XP or lower (not Vista). Try this:
goto:"File>Connection Settings" in Activsync and make sure "Allow USB Connection is set. Then reconnect your device. If that doesn't work:
goto "Settings>Connection>USB to PC>Extended Network Functions Activated" on you Hermes and uncheck the box. Perform a soft reset and try to sync. if that doesn't work try:
http://toril.ru/pda/akrndisadd.exe This program makes sure your device knows what to do when the USB is connected.
If that doesn't work I'm out of guesses.
Cheers

Im running Windows XP.
With this program, do I run this from my laptop or on the phone?

Did you also try the ActiveSync troubleshoot Utility? Is in the same folder as ActiveSync, called astu.exe.

That's correct. If it says true, then it worked. If that hasn't solved the problem and you've done the rest above then I would try re-installing the OS via SD. Check the wiki for instructions.

Ok so I have reinstalled with a new ROM from the SD card and it still will not notice that I have plugged the 8525 into my PCs.
I can use the OEM headseat without issues and it charges fine.
Anyone know what's going on?
Hello Vasichko:
1. Did you try running the Astu.exe program in the ActiveSync folder? What was the result?
2. Did you manage to transfer files to/from the PC with Cardexport or WM5Storage? If so, then your hardware is OK.
3. Could you find and attach the following file from your PC:
C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USER NAME OR PROFILE NAME\Local Settings\Temp\WCESCOMM.LOG Let's look at that and go from there.
4. It could be an IP address issue...but you did uncheck the Advanced Network Functionality in the settings menu...right?
PS,
Are you using the original USB Cable? Can you try another cable?
With ASTU.exe it tells me that I must connect the device to troubleshoot and it doesnt find any other issues.
In the WCESCOMM.LOG it has the following:
06/30/2008 12:26:06.504 - Windows CE Services (4.5.0) Communication Logging.

Slightly off-topic but I think it can sync and exchange with Outlook but I think it needs to be Outlook 2007 or later. As to getting Sync with Vista I had no trouble at all on Vista HP x64.
To the OP it sounds like something simple as others have already suggested and is most likely just a matter of correcting USB settings.
I have turned off the advanced functionality in USB to PC settings.
I have tried 4 different USB cables and uninstalled and reinstalled ActiveSync on 2 different laptops that it used to sync with.
Look in the Device Manager with phone connected and see if it has the HTC USB Hub at the end, like mine. If it's not there... then:
1. Disconnect any other USB device in the computer and reboot the PC.
2. Check your CMOS setup (when rebooting) to see if they are enabled. Some CMOS chips have an option for disabling COM / USB ports.
3. Make sure Activesync is running on the phone.
4. Look into \Program Files\Microsoft Activesync\Drivers. It should like like my folder - pic attached.
You haven't said if WM5Storage or Cardexport work (i.e. Windows detects a mass storage device).
What is WM5Storage or Cardexport? Do these run on the 8525?
I dont see a HTC USB Hub when connecting the HTC.

help needed to set up Remote Desktop

can anybody tell me how to setup remote desktop from HTC to my PC (I am using Windows 7)
Step by step please guys
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCs4GQma7IQ
With that guide I made it work, good luck.
I did exactly everything in this guide and even set a corresponding exception in the Windows firewall (also tried with Windows firewall off) - but the mobile remote desktop program always tells me there was an internal error... But what the heck could that be?
Dont bother the remote dt program is ****e, im currently using vnc which is a bit better, but rather lacking also.
Is it me or did that video not mention setting up your windows machine to allow connections.
Make sure remote desktop is enabled on your PC and make sure it is allowing connections from computers running any version of Remote desktop(2nd option) third option works between windows 7 machines but wouldn't allow my phone to connect.
Your error sounds like it is being caused by something on the phone end though so i dont know if that will help.
Those with remote desktop working can you get it to go landscape? Mine works fine except i can't get landscape mode. Also anyone know of a app that can send wake up requests to a machine? I have this on my laptop so i can wake my pc over the internet and then log in. Anything similar out there for win mobile?
allowing a connection through windows firewall alone is not helping, if you have other system securtiy programs that also has a firewall. or maybe your router has a firewall too. you should try and forward the right port (3389) in the software of your router.
I opened port 3389 on the router, I activated the correct remote desktop option on the PC (Vista), the IP is right (wrong IP adress throws a different error, so the program gets that far)...
I guess you have Windows 7 Home version
Have you tried using 16 bit high colour option? Mine said it couldn't connect when i turned it down to 256 colours.
Edit: Windows 7 x64 btw
OK on my windows7 x64 ive turned on remote desktop and set it to allow connections (2nd option) and i still cant connect, what do i type in user/pass on the hd2
-ive setup the portforwarding on my bethere box
-tryed both color modes on hd2
does it have to be over wifi or can it be over 3g?
Your user name and password for windows.
You MUST have a password set up on your windows account to be able to use remote desktop. If you don't have a password set up remote desktop and other network related access will not work. I.e using the phone to access shared windows folders.

ok ive added a password to my pc but still wont work, i think i tmay be something todo with this steps
2. Open a web browser, and type 192.168.1.1 to access your router. If you don't know the default username and password (usually admin/password), Google for it.
3. Enter port forwarding. Add a new entry using your local IP address, and the start/end port of 3389.

my router is a THOMSON TG585v7 and to log into it i need to type http://192.168.1.254 so i did and the only thing like port forwarding i can find is the Toolbox\Game & Application Sharing menu and in their i can type the ports but cant type the local IP address as their no where to add it, ive added a pic that might help you help me
If you are accessing the machine via your wifi(i.e your own network) you should be able to do it without any port forwarding.
So punch in your machines local IP and your username and password. That should work(make sure it is using your WiFi and not still connecting via 3G). If you wanted to be able to do it via 3G/wifi(external network) then you will need to get port forwarding working.
Edit: Port forwarding guide for you. I think this is roughly the same version of router you have just different branding.

so in the last part of the setup i need to manually define it as the local ip, still not working if that's what i should do
The last step is applying the forwarding to your PC. So you should be able to pick your PCs name in the drop down box.
Have you tried just doing it over your local wireless network(forget about port forwarding for a minute.) Enter the local IP(could also just try entering the name of the PC though im not sure if that works) of your PC as the computer then your user name and password.

Windows mobile 6.1 network filesharing not working with Windows 7

With my HTC Windows mobile 6.1 I can't access the Windows 7 fileshares. It is no problem to access with the same WM device the fileshares of a Vista or Windows XP server. With the Resco File Explorer or the Shafts network plugin I can "see" the computername of my Windows 7 PC. Also my username and password are asked. But when I fill in the username and password it says: can't connect to the shared path (Dutch translation).
Did someone manage to make a connection? If yes, how did you do that? It is eather a Windows mobile or Windows 7 related problem that is why I try this forum.

Having the same problem - big mystery.
Try entering your domain (computer name) in your username field:
ie: if computer is called "laptop" and user is "Doug" then username syntax is laptop\doug
This works for me with WinMo 6.1 and 6.5 and Windows 7.
Make sure your firewall is off on the PC, and filesharing is turned on in advanced network settings.
I have two laptops - both with Windows 7 and a WM6.5 device. Using Resco Explorer it discovers computers near me, but won't connect (Cannot connect shared path. The specified server cannot perform the requested operation.). Before upgrading to win 7 from XP and Vista I had no problem connecting to both laptops. The suggestion from the previous post didn't help.
Any ideas?
I guess no ideas then...
I have windows 7, I use Internet Explorer. I have "//server/share/" as my home page in IE in winmo 6.5. so when I'm at home and hit the IE icon it takes me to my share. Learned that somewhere in this very forum.

I can't believe that bloody microsoft! Upgrading to a newer OS should make things easier and not even more miserable!!!

This is how i set mine up, works like a charm. Are your network settings correct? You can probably skip the stuff about the static IP. I was having similar troubles. Good luck.

Thanks, but they are talking about the very basic thing like connecting to the Internet through your home network. I don't have any problems with that. The issue is most probably related to Windows 7, because right after upgrading the OS my HD lost access to the files on both laptops. I am still able to map the drive and see both machines in Resco explorer. It just won't go through the authentication process.
mine worked fine. i am using windows 7 ultimate and resco explorer 2010 on my device to view my files on the PC.
this is what i did: from menu button -> file -> network -> map drive
then instead of browsing my computer from the list in "Computers near me", i manually typed the address: \\computername\d$
then press SHARE
then it prompted another window
i selected: connect using a different user name
i typed my username and password (my login name in windows)
then that's it, i can now browse my files on the PC using my mobile device

Yeah, it works fine except one thing: I can only open folders, when I want to open file, i.e picture it says: Can't load file. But when I copy file to my storage card, it opens without fail.
Someone help?
