Face Down Mute and Light Sensor

I am having problems with the face down mute and light sensor thing. I would love to be able to get these working.
I have tried Schaps Advanced Config, Diamond Tweak and Registry Edits.
I would like the device to go into mute (do not ring calls) when it is put face down
Also, I would like to disable the automatic screen going off on call and let the light sensor detect when it is close to my ear and turn the screen off...
Appreciate your help
I think there is no light or proximity sensor on the HD.
I do nothing and my HD goes silent if I turn it face down.

Couldnt one then infer that it is obviously a feature of some software you have installed?
Isn't there any setting on:
setting - system - motion sensor or some kind?
Could we have a list of install software on your HD?
Don't sweat it guys!
It just works out of the box!
And fyi the HD has a Light Sensor, G Sensor and Stylus Sensor.
Yes - the light sensor is in the earpiece area (if you have ambient light sensor option checked [default], have it open in a bright room on a mainly white windows screen then cover the earpice area you see the screen dim)
I don't know about it working straight out of the box but you can certainly do it with Gyrator 2.

There certainly is...
Actually, I wanted to start this thread myself..
Face-down-mute does NOT work on my HD. Neither with Gyrator ON, nor whent it is OFF.
I have checked the registry (HKLM/Software/HTC/Phone/MuteFaceDown or smth like this..), the key setting is "1" so technically it should work....... But it Doesn't!!
Face down mute works if you have it face up and somebody calls you. Just turn it face down and ring is muted.
This is only thing I found on this topic.
Turning the phone down mutes incoming calls for me too. no problems there..

This is very useful and it absolutely works. Cool! I thought when we place the phone face down, it would jsut be muted period. I was also assuming that there was a way to do this with Gyrator, but didnt know which event to select on orientation face down. I can turn off the screen, but there is no option in gyrator to mute the phone.
Thanks for the help though.

This is what I also assumed, when I am in the meeting and get a call I put it face down and it mutes, but then when someone else calls I need to face it up then down again which ideally doesn't work for me.
Isn't there a key like FaceDownMuteAll = 1?
Unfortunately i have the same problem. Flipping the phone is not muting the ring. Maybe its something to do with what we install. Also another strange issue no matter what i do i have the active sync always running in the background.
I have changeScreen installed and if I disable it it works. I think gsenor apps are the cause

It works straight out of the box, I installed all sort of Gsense apps and it removed and face down mute still works fine.
Even in the case it is faced down and someone ring, I just have to face up, see whos is calling and face down again, it muted.

Proximity sensor in Touch HD

I recently read on gsmarena that the touch hd has a proximity sensor for auto turn off.
is this true?
if yes, could we use this sensor to automatically answer a call for example
maybe we can add to the sensory sdk of koushi a class for the proximity sensor.
just a thought

I'm guessing that the "proximity" sensor that has been discussed is actually the light sensor beside the earpiece. This can be used to turn the backlight off when applied to your ear during a call. using this as a means to asnwer a call would not be reliable, and what would happen if the phone is in your pocket etc etc.

i think is just like the iphone when u place it next to ear the it goes off to save battery ?
It doesn't work like the iPhone.
The HD, like all the devices using a Qualcomm chip, is just switching off the screen when a call starts, the phone next to the ear or not. It just doesn't use the light sensor at all during a call.
I asked for a soft that permit the use of the light and G sensor during a call to switch off/on the screen. You'll find more info here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=451456

Proximty and resume
The proximty sensor will turn off the screen when places the phone next to your ear. I guess this help to prevent accidental touch on buttons. However, I have a problem with my new Touch Pro2:
When the phone is placed away from your ear, the screen will go back to home instead of previous phone dial pad. When I listen to my voice mail or join a conference, a lot of navigation is needed in order to dial the command buttons.(press a 7 for next, or # for ....)
Any chance to make the screen resume at previous location? My first improvement suggestion to HTC.
Concerning this sensor, funny I thought it was some myth as mine never seemed to work or only half assed. Then after flashing many diff roms and settling on the "energy" Rom I see that much to my pleasent surprise it works perfect, just as intended. This is a fantastic feature and my first device it has actually functioned properly on.

hi
yeh there is a setting somewhere that lets you go straight to home when you turn the device on instead of loading the screen it was already on.
its set to default but you can change it.
i forgot what the app was called though, i think it was possibly an option in hd tweak or something
THERE IS NO proximity sensor in touch hd
However I've been told that "Touch Incall Screen Tweak" does beautifully on the HD and probably it's what you´re asking.

From what I've been reading spec wise I believe your correct, but I cannot explain then why when I make a call with the HD up to my ear the screen goes dark then when I pull it away to input a number from the kp it lights up. Is it the light sensor then? I'll check in the NRG energy ROM forum and search for some info as I'm running his ROM. I love this feature btw and have not noticed it in any other ROM I've tried.

Is there an issue with my HD?

every time i reboot my HD, the screen brightness dims? i always need to go through the battery icon to increase the brightness!! why is that?
Also, how can i set up sounds for when i switch my HD on and off? Custom sounds...

this might be due to the light sensor on the right side of the (top front side) speaker, try http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-lumos.html

This must be the light sensor. You can switch off the sensor:
1. tap on the battery symbol.
2. In the neu screen tap again on the battery symbol
3. go to the second tab and switch it off

Try Schap´s Advanced_Configuration_Tool_v3.3. There are some options for that (check the "HTC Animation" tab).
how about just going into settings\power and switching autoadjust backlight off?

Proximity sensor problems!

Hi guys,
I dont know if this has already been discussed or if anybody has had the same problem,
The proximity sensor that is supposed to turn off the display while in call only works when i make a call. If i am receiving a call then the display stays on and i end up ending the call accidently will my cheek.
I was wondering if there is a fix or app to sort this out. I am looking for something that purely sorts this problem out and dont really want any other features etc.
Many thanks,
Loz
I cannot replicate this problem. The sensor on my HD2 works perfectly on incoming calls.
no offences but i am sort of hoping others have this problem so im not the only one lol strength in numbers and all that...
can anyone relate to the problem i have, i have searched the settings time amd time again looking for proximity settings to see if it has been disable or something
please help!
hi guys,
i am still having problems with the proximity sensor when i receive a call, can anyone help????????
thanks
There has been a few posts like this in the past, but AFAIK no-one has posted a solution or reason for it happening. I've never had any problems with the proximity sensor on my handset so can't help any either, but I would guess it has something to do with using a screen-protector or possibly the screen being full of smudges right around the sensor.
thanks for the reply
i dont think it is the screen protector im using because it works whenever i make a call, its just when receiving a call it doesnt turn off the display!
does anyone no if there is a fix or reg edit i could do to get it working again?????

Hello,
I have the same bug and I post it yesterday, the screen off when I make a call and stay on when I am getting a call.
My Rom is 1.48.405 from UK, and I have screen protection from HTC with small hole on the sensors.
also when I making a call the screen off but need to turn on when you take the phone far from your head, sometimes it is heppens but sometimes not.
kochavy
When I bought the phone it was 1.43.405 and I upgraded it to 1.48.405.
maybe this is the problem!!

just a innocent fact.
I had noticed that when starting to make a phone call the prox. sensor turns off the display but when the connection is made (the fuzzy noise and the first beep) the displays turns on. To reactivate the prox. sens i have to move the phone from my ear and then approach it again (please forgive my bad english) and the display turn off as designed. This issue can lead to the idea that the sensor is broken or malfunction.
I hope it helped

I will wait for Rom 1.66
yeah me too hopefully that will resolve our problem
ill be checking htc website constantly until the uk rom is released
After two weeks testing I found out that the original screen protector with the two holes for the sensor makes the problems!!!
thake the screen protector out or cut it and the proximity sensor will work perfect.

Where is virtual protective shade?

Hi guys,
During the call I’m setting off bunch of application by accident. The manual says it suppose to be a virtual protective shade over the buttons and only “keypad” and “End Call” should be accessible. But in fact anything I touch is working. What to use to disable all buttons during the call?
Thanks
P.S. installed apps:
Duttys task manager 2.1.1
Montecristoff HD2Tweaks
TC
Cookies home tab 1.7
chainfire 3d driver patch

the proximity sensor will know when the phone is to your face during a call and turn the screen off. make a call and put ur finger over the sensor see if the screen turns off
sensors
One is light sensor to brighthen or dim screen, the other is proximity sensor to turn off screen during call, so you don't touch any with cheek,or ear.

There's a sensor thats suppose to turn your phone screen off when you put it close to your face. Do you have anything blocking the sensor next to the ear speaker? or maybe a cheap screen protector going over the sensor. I've also heard long hair can mess up the sensor if you don't push it behind your ear before putting the phone up to the ear.(Don't understand how that would effect it, though) Or did you change any settings that effect the proximity sensor?
I've never heard of a "virtual protection shade"... where did you read about that?
