Adobe Fails Once Again - Nexus One General

Idiots.
I almost hope HTML5 takes off due to how they keep stringing people along. First it was end of 2009, then Q1 2010, then Q2 2010, now second half. FFS come on.

Yeah I also can't forgive Adobe how it bought Macromedia. Such a bright collection of developers that was.
Now, this clumsy giant Adobe is controlling Flash, Dreamweaver.. and everything's going down the drain.

html5.0 is already working... some guys tested it.. i saw it in this forum... search to find more....
Try this on the web browser http://mugtug.com/sketchpad/

Count me in as someone that is starting to hate Adobe.
They have been straight up lying.
I'm also beginning to think the only platform they care about is the iPhone and that they are using us as a proxy in their battle with Apple.
I mean, does anyone believe they are going to get Flash working on Blackberry?
They are just full of lies, imo.
I don't even know if those demos we've seen on the Nexus are even real now.

I just tried it on Cyanogen 5.0.5.3 and sketchpad loaded, but wouldn't let me do anything and Projekktor told me that the video type wasn't supported by this device.

I don't mean HTML5 working on Android. I mean the internet en masse switching over / adopting HTML5 over Flash. Right now HTML5 is powering 2% of the internet's websites.

Pathetic...along with it goes any chance Android has of stealing iPhone thunder mid year.
I gave them the benefit of the doubt ,count me in as a hater.
Much as I realize Flash aint going anywhere soon I hate Adobe.

Worked on Dolphin. although i wasn't able to draw (I guess a cursor is needed, it just kept moving the screen), I saw the whole layout and was able to select the different tools/colors.

Seriously? I bet Google is fuming mad right now! Adobe talked them into holding the joint press confrence at MWC, and now Google looks like a bunch of shmucks along with them! That was my one reason for believing it would actually come on time, since they were able to get Google to do the joint press confrence with them and what not.
Adobe is officially on my list.

Fcku Abode!!!!!

To use the cliche: "epic fail."
Not too surprised seeing how the RC was just released for the desktop version, and as such I wouldn't expect the mobile version to come until after the desktop version hits the market.
Stupid move by Adobe UNLESS they are using the time to actually streamline the platform. It's possible that they're doing that, and hopefully they are.
I don't think XHTML/HTML 5 will be the way of the future in regards to all web content just yet. Perhaps for video, but there is plenty of content out there that is Flash-based that isn't video.

Count me in. They said in 2009 that its gonna be out in early 2010. Yeah right...
I gave up on the idea of having flash player on my nexus.
FU Adobe!

Im good with the crippled Flash 10.1 (do the Lite versions even get official names?) Lite on my Desire ROM, its good enough for now. I have a laptop anyways, and I don't exactly plan on viewing much flash content regardless. If anything it would only be when I'm bored..

Even if you don't need it, its still nice to have it. There are sites like engadget, for example, that post videos on vimeo. You cant see those on the nexus. And that one thing annoys me. I want flash player just for that.

Great news about Flash Mobile from Adobe!!!

Adobe is rolling out Flash 10 for Windows Mobile Devices soon!!!
So they say...
http://msn-cnet.com.com/8301-1001_3-10098883-92.html?tag=rtcol;txt
Sigh...
By the end of 2009!??? On2 is already working on On2VP8 and VP7 is already out, by the time Flash 10 is released for our devices it's probably gonna be as useless as FlashLite 3.1 is now, at least for watching online video and such.
It can't be that bad. Think about it... they will have to beta test, and something will probably leak out and will eventually fall into our hands, we will play with it, make it better, people will get flamed/banned for asking the same question 35000 times... Long story short, we will have Flash Player 10 before the people at Adobe can say "Happy 2009!"
Yay, I can get black screens and disappearing videos mobile too!

But as egzthunder1 said, XDA will make it work BETTER..
I'm not exactly overjoyed by this! Adobe is one of my least favorite companies and the way they've mangled flash since buying Macromedia is shocking!
Many sysadmins will echo my sentiments when I say STOP! No more Flash updates! There was a time when it felt like each was simply a bugfix, and the updates were coming out almost weekly!
So when Adobe announces this great thing, I think I'll sit back and wait, because actually I can live without Flash on my device and I GUARANTEE that Adobe will botch it 1st time round.
They always do!

Well flash is OK we have no descent borwser that can work with it well, PIE6 is piece of crap at this time, but opera 9 does not work well with flash either... we will see what will happen in near future. The end of 2009 is so far many things can change in a year.
true indeed

this is true indeed, skyfire is the only thing that comes close to using flash without too many hiccups. but yeah end of '09 is still pretty far away we'll see.

BUT, the fact still remains that Flash Sites are EVERYWHERE... So the need for a good Flash renderer is Very Important.
Besides, I think you forget the point of XDA. These guys hack this stuff mostly just to see if they can! Then if it works well, that's a Huge Bonus. Without their trial and error, we would be left without some GREAT Programs.
ie: TomTom, M2D, WM6, WM6.1, and soon WM7, etc, etc...
I understand your frustration with Adobe and Flash. I too think it's strange that they produce a product that can be inserted into millions of web pages, but cannot create browser plug-ins that actually show their product back reliably!

Anyone interested in TAThome?

Here you can join the early access for almost any android phone and give feed back.

It looks amazing but I remember a similar demonstration for a 3D TAT interface on the N95 way back when, and nothing ever came of it. Is this getting a definite release?
Seems really interesting...

Lol, I hadn't even noticed that we were in that section. I assumed it was themes and apps! Probably should be
No, other than the weather widget (which actually does a good job looking natural and making good use of space) I think that it's pretty much a bust. Unnecessary gestures and poor layout/viewing angles, this feely like a "me too" attempt at (ab)use of opengl.

No Flash 10 on Hero?

Just came across this, saying that the Hero wont support Flash 10.What do you think about that?
WHAT?
Well, that sucks ass >.> What are we suppose to do? Maybe one of our awesome devs can work on it when the issue comes up. *waits for toast to read this* LOL
no biggie, by the time it comes out, I will be able to upgrade and hopefully will get the rumored supersonic!!
Just because they say the hero won't be supported doesn't mean we won't have it.. lol

I can honestly say that I couldnt care less. I dont play flash games. Youtube has its own app (though it currently doesnt work in the 1.5 OS), and HULU blocks mobile connections. So....what is left to use flash for....the thousands upon thousands of ads dancing across nearly every web page and bragging rights against Apples Iphone. No thanks Adobe, I can live without your crap software.

It says Flash 10 will be available in the app store soon.
The Pre has much more robust hardware than the Hero.
Flash 10 would be rather useful in some cases, i know personally i would like to listen HoNcast videos while im at work without loading down my network at work. Boss doesn't like that...by the time we get flash 10...flash 11 or 12 might be out and id still be boned...but i can always hope for the best ha ha
we should
port android to the damn pre so we could have basically a droid... except my hero gets a much better signal compared to the damn pre....
I think it sucks. A lot of false promises with this phone. I feel like a beta tester
If anything my thought is that Sprint should allow another upgrade for Hero users. This phone has never worked at 100% since I got it. It's issue after issue.
I have to agree that, while I love this phone, it was definetely produced in a very incomplete state. It's really BS that HTC made the Nexus One not three months later and it has twice the hardware, plus a flash for the camera. WTF?
The hero has to have flash, it was the first phone with flash lite! Also, I'm sure that a developer will get it *looks at toast* if it 'isn't supported' and show them .

No more adobe flash for mobile?

I thought this was interesting, and super lame. Dont know if its old news, buts its the first I heard of it.

Technology is moving forward. We have things like HTML5 replacing the need for flash.

I have always hated Flash but it's the best we have and everyone uses it unfortunately. Losing this ability on our phones is a bad thing no matter how you slice it. If we had something better that was more universal that's a different story but we don't.

It does not....No one I know bought an Android for the sole reason that it plays Flash, and if anyone did, they're an idiot. I bought one because I could customize it, root it, and a boatload of other things that I can't do with an iPhone. HTML5 is way better than Flash anyway. We'll all be better off because of this.

Ummm, actually, Flash is one of the main things I was excited about when I moved to android on June 4th 2010 (evo launch).
I came from WinMo. The skyfire browser on WinMo supported flash, and finally provided a desktop experience on my phone.
Reading the comments on the article I linked to seemed to support the argument that HTML5 could be great, if it was developed a lot further than its current state. Which means, as OstrichSak said, what until then?
And hopefully google DOES have something up their sleeve

While that does appear promising, bear in mind that ICS doesn't handle Flash content yet. I would not be surprised to see performance take a huge hit once Flash is enabled.

Yep, and likewise you can load flash for one specific element with a simple tap, so it's actually preferable to leaving it switched on, if you ask me. Quicker page download, and less annoying, flashing ads...

Looks pretty fast, although another video elsewhere suggests to me that home page swipe still isn't quite as smooth as the iPad 2. (Not surprising, as Apple customized their proc to include dedicated processes for specific functions, and I'd bet swiping is one of them.)
I'd like to see Photoshop Touch on the Prime -- that could really take advantage of the processor power!
I want flash, I like to play flash games on my transformer. I like that "tubes" for adults works great (only red have issues). I want it, even if browser with this plug-in is slower.

Holy **** shut up about Flash. Adobe isn't making it for mobile devices anymore. We will still have it, and many people still need it. I'm tired of like 30% of the threads in this forum contain people either *****ing about the lack of flash or being delusional enough to believe flash is useless on mobile.
ICS will get flash. So will Jellybean and other newer firmwares. No one, and I do mean absolutely no one, gives a **** about whether you want flash or whether you don't want flash.
With that said, the browser is insanely fast. That isn't just because flash is disabled, it's an actual increase in rendering time (along with a few tricks to convince you it's instant).

That's for mobile only, and even if Adobe kills it off on the desktop, it will take a period of several years at the least before it largely dies out online. Apple sheeple may be willing to accept partial web access during those years; Android users aren't. We want, expect, and almost certainly will get flash on Ice Cream Sandwich.
