Stock style ROM with 576 RAM ??? - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 ROM Development

Hi im just looking for a rom which essentially is the same as the latest stock vodafone uk ROM but with the 576 RAM or something as close to possible as stock ROM but with the extra RAM. Does this exist? I have been hunting around but they all seem to be majorly different. Or can anyone make a rom based on the Vodafone ROM but with the the 576RAM unlocked?
Thanks

2.10 base: 576MB RAM, US version
1.66/1.72 base: normal RAM, European version
So you have to decide between more RAM or your UK ROM base.

Ok so what would be the main differences if I have the US based 2.01?
I am currently on 1.66. I plan on using SSPL by bepe to do the ROM upgrade which i beleive means i dont need to worry about radios?
I wouldnt mind the US based 2.01 if it performed and looked like a stock HTC ROM. I guess if I used the US ROM I wouldnt have the operator settings for MMS etc?
Thanks

Flash CleanEX ROM...it has 576mb of RAM Enabled, and it super fast! flash CleanEX HQ4.01 if you love WM6.5, and HyperROM or DsE ROM if you prefer WM6.5.x

thats not what it means.
Flashing with sspl means you cant change the radio, because sspl isnt able to flash radios. So, if you choose to flash a rom that opens the 576, you wont get it anyway because you will still have your stock radio.

Why would the stock radio prevent the unlocking of the 576 RAM sorry Im abit of a novice at all this? So is what Im after impossible?
My concern with changing the radio is I wont choose the right one. I was hoping for a simple way of increasing the RAM because as it stands the phone gets bogged down quite easily and it doesnt matter wat tweaks and programs utilities I use the phone runs at 50+% RAM and I have many soft resets during a day. My Touch Pro didnt run anywhere near this high and I use very similar programs now as I did when I had that phone.
cheers

first of all id like to point out the extra ram makes close to no difference
you need a certain rom/radio combination in order for it to be enabled you don't need to know the details.
just download hspl2
go to the rom development thread and pick one you like with the 576mb ram patch enabled
read which radio is compatible with the rom and voila
UPDATE
by the way vodafone have actually released the latest vodafone uk rom 1.72 so you may want to take a look at that before you go through this process

As i said i am new to this but keen to learn, with the reference of it makes no difference using 180mb of 448 = 40% being used compared with 180mb of 576 = 31%, pretty big difference? ----Is the RAM shared with the program memory as I only seem to have 336mb RAM available?
Thanks for the advice on the latest voda update literally only put up the other day I will give it a try I need to hard reset whatever as something is causing a service.exe error when I boot.
I still wouldnt mind having the extra RAM just havent found a ROM out there by anyone else that hasnt been completely changed from the standard HTC style.
Again thanks for help

you only show 336 because the graphics chipset takes 128.(and so when you do unlock the 576 your useful ram will show 448.
you must change the radio because the unlock only works with rom and radio from the tmous range of roms (or cooked roms based on the tmous roms)
if you don't have a tmous phone then you have no worriesabout flashing radios.they will all work on your phone.(only ones with .50. in the version will unlock ram) it won't affect your phones ability to connect to your provider at all.
oh and the extra ram is nice but not at all needed.it's difficult to utilize what there is already.

hmmm well seems like i have the duff radio:
Os version: 5.2.21869 (21869.5.0.82)
Manilla: 2.5.19211619.0
ROM: 1.66.405.2 (76641) WWE
Radio:2.06.51.07
Protocol:15.30.50.07U
If its hard to utilize whats available why does mine run at 50% RAM all the time and open a couple of programs to run in the back ground (e.g. facebook, opera, calculator) it goes to like 70% and then get really slow. My touch pro was never like that
Im not having ago im just frustrated, i thought the HD2 was going to be a massive step up in performance.

adding more ram only speeds things up if you are currently running at 100%
say you have 1gb ram and it runs at 50% used. you add another gig, nothing will change except now it will run at 25% used. it won't run faster.
more ram means doing more, not doing the same thing faster.
why do you say your radio is duff? what doesn't it do that you think it should?
no problem.you SHOULD query everything. its all very well being given the answer, but if you understand it too then so much the better!

Difference between HD2 Manilla 1.4X and 1.6X

Hi Guys,
I'm novice at this so ignore my ignorance.
I have 1.48 WWE installed on my HD2 and I was considering it flashing with the new release ... I think 1.66.
But I really dont want to go through the hassle of installing all the programs back onto my device unless it's worth it.
Is there anybody who can tell me what's new in the 1.66 version and is it worth upgrading .... I'm not a heavy application bur rather a simple user and I hate troubleshooting
So if you think its not worthwhile upgrading can you please let me know.
Any feedback will be welcome.
Cheers
Wolfy
Might help if you let people know what region you are...
Region - UK and the version used is the WWE one.
Cheers
If you´re fine with what you have, no need to flash.
The 1.66 ROM series bring all the hotfixes and updates which you might have installed already - in case you have to perform a hard reset, you would not have to install all those. There are other differences such as an updated Radio ROM version, but most of them are "under the hood" and not visible.
Many people here flash custom ROMs to get some more free memory space, or maybe another Manila/Sense functionality, but you will not find this kind of "big" difference between the official 1.43/48 and 1.66 ROMs anyway.
But, again, if you are fine with the stock ROM, there is no need to flash.
I have 2 HD2 phones now.
One is 1.48 ROM and other is 1.66 ROM
THe only difference I see is 1.66 show more memory. It says 448 Mb while 1.48 show less.
Not sure why...
Oh, I after hard reset memory is same on both phones. Now, I don't know the difference anymore

How do I enable 576mb ram ?

someone convinced me
i flashed tons of roms and radios but none seem to "activate" this hidden ram.
right now im on duttys HG ultimate with its preinstalled 2.08 radio (it said it would activate ram)
before i was running miri build 23549 with 2.06 radio and still nothing.
but than again, is it possible for a tmous leo to get this activated?

It's not "fake" as it is actually hardware, and physically present in the hardware of the phone.
The 2.06 Radio itself doesn't enable it, nor does any other radio for that matter. It is a combination of the ROM with the settings modified and the Radio which allows the phone to access the memory that is physically installed in the European HD2, but blocked in these ROMs "officially."
To my knowledge, only a two Radios (from the TMOUS ROM) actually allow the access of the blocked memory by the ROM. 2.07 and 2.08 versions with 50 and not 51 in their string codes.
IF you were running Miri's with a 2.06 radio, you did not see it activated.
It is also important to remember that the 576MB of memory is not going to be free or available in its entirety, because the system takes a part for itself to run the graphics system, etc.
This has been discussed in much greater detail here in the forum. Search for the threads and see for yourself.
so which combination would activate it with a tmous rom?

Mods?
that T-Mob 576mb is crap and chefs should stop cooking them couse if you like T-Mob rom's go and buy that idiotic phone,i would never put that crap on mine at all,i just love the originals rom's cooked before T-Mob come out,all i can see is 576mb rom
The 576 mb ram is for real. Believe or not it's your choice, but it has been proven several times over. However we have enough ram already and some cooks may choose not to use it. If you are going to cook ROM's for a TMOUS device then it is good to use the 576 RAM.

Firmware updates on O2-UK

I got my HTC HD2 yesterday and i now know what love feels like.
My question is what is the latest radio's and roms for o2?
My handset is currently running rom 1.43.206.4 and radio version 2.04.50.22_2
Any advise will be greatly appriciated.
there are no updates for o2 yet.
I can highly recommend hspl2 your phone and install the wwe 1.66 rom.
(read the stickies in the rom development section)
there was supposed to be a new rom coming at the end march but nothing happened. i was told by a customer services guy that there were problems with the rom and it had been delayed.
unfortunately the version you currently have is the latest, for o2 UK any way.
why dont you flash another ROM theyr miles better, plus the o2 stock rom is floating about in the rom dev area so you can reflash if incase you return your phone!
Thanks for the tips guys. I will hspl2 it soon, ive got enough experiance from doing my xperia every other day lol. Which radio version is the best to use?
I've not really noticed much difference across the radios, im on 2.07.50 at the mo, in west yorks, and ive used the 2.08 one too. The only one i noticed a difference with was 2.09 but i use a 576 rom which it doesnt work with, so i only used it for a day.
Thanks. Last question, what is the diffrence between 576 roms etc? This is what has left me scatching my head.
I'd recommend radio 2.09 which I'm on, it's the best so far I've found and I've used all of them on my O2 HD2. I'm based in the Buckinghamshire area and it does me well round here.

the leo we all have (not tmous) have 576 meg of ram, but for whatever reason htc decided to hide 128 meg.
the leaked tmous roms a few months ago unlocked that ram, so now, if you flash a rom based on the 2.10 roms and a matching radio you will get 576 meg ram.
to be honest the ram rarely gets fully utilized anyway, don't base your choice of rom on it. (and you can't get it on official roms like the 1.66)

ROM, Radio, HSPL ??? what does it all mean ?

Sorry really to be a pain here, but if someone does not mind, can they explain to me ROM, Radio and HSPL? I think i know that ROM is the software running on your phone. but it that version number increased everytime someone make a custom ROM out from an official one?
Radio as far as i know is for wifi, radio, etc. is this correct ? And final we have HSPL, now what do need that for, and for what use it is?
I am ofcourse asking these questions because i started to look at all the nice ROM's out there and not sure if i should stick to what im doing and keep going for the higher numbers. Would be very happy if someone could quickly explain them all properly and then maybe guide me to other links where i can read more...
Thank you in advance...
SPL - Secondary Program Loader - Think of it as the BIOS of your phone. It starts the operating system loading, and when you flash it verifies cid and region locks.
HSPL - Hard Secondary Program Loader - This is the creation of Bepe and Cotulla and Co. and is a hacked version of the official SPL that bypasses the checks when you flash a rom. It requires SPL 1.42.0000 on your phone to use.
This is the only version that works for telstra phones.
HSPL2 - is an upgrade to HSPL that allows witching between most of the available SPL's, and also their HSPL equivalents. (So if you want to install cooked roms, you might choose 2.08.HSPL, whilst if you want to go back to official, you would choose 1.42.0000 in the HSPL2 dropdown)
HSPL1024 - Is HSPL specific to the tmous hd2.
hardware ROM - The Read Only Memory of the phone. Think of it as the hard disk in your device. This is your storage memory.
'the' rom - When we talk about flashing roms, we mean the file that installs the whole operating system on your phone. This file is 'flashed' to the rom storage space, where it installs itself. After it finishes configuring itself, whatever is left is your available storage memory. (usually around 180 meg on a standard hd2)
Official ROMS have version numbers such as 1.66 , 1.72. 2.10.
Version numbers of cooked roms are meaningless. They only apply to that chefs roms. He/She applies versions as they see fit, however you can get a fair bit of info from the ro mthread title.
Example, they will usually tell you the base of the rom, i.e what stock rom was used as a base, 1.66, or 2.10 for example, and also the windows build version, (the 5 digit 21xxx number, i dont know whats what with those, but the higher ones are winmo 6.5.x) and more as you get used to reading them.
radio hardware - The different models have different actual hardware that connects to the mobile network. That is why you cant get 3g on at&t with a T Mo USA hd2. No matter what software radio you flash, the hardware is wrong.
radio rom - The radio software sits between windows mobile and the hardware. It controls the hardware based on what you want to do. There are all kinds of reports of better/worse battery life, connection strength, sound quality results when flashing digfferent radios.
flashing a radio does NOT require a hard reset, so wont affect your install.
Some roms (example the 576 meg enabled roms) require specific radios, read the rom posts for info.
The big danger with radio flashing is only applicable to tmous users, , if they flash a radio with ..51.. in the version number, their phone dies.
A useful read. I hope you got a thank you...
heh, well i got one now, cheers,
Dear Samsamuel !
Tx a lot ! Although I study this forum now since I am a HD2 owner (who never flashed a cooked ROM) I start to understand these cryptic topic now by Your explanations, making me more brave to try it once. Tx
The only thing I still can´t figure out is: WTF are the REAL differences of the stock-ROMS eg. what EXACTLY is changed between ROM 1.43 WWE, 1.48 WWE, 1.66 WWE, 1.72 (no WWE methinks).
I got so far to understand that some ROM-upgrades are just earlier ROMs with all the following patches included, but some are a major switch from WM 6.5 to 6.5.x and Sense 2.5.19xxxx to 2xxxx, giving new features like rotation in all Sense-Screens.
Plz, get me right, I spend all bad-weather-weekends hours and hours reading in the ROM-cooker-section, read XDA on my HD at airports and train stations but the shere mass of info provided - a little bit here, an info there - prevents me to get the WHOLE picture. There is a thread about which ROMs are officially out till now but with NO Info about the differences between them and which is a major UPGRADE (WM 6.5 to 6.5.x, Sense 1xxx to 2xxxx) and which is simply a better working "older" ROM.
I got my HD 2 now by the help of the geniousses here (You, Cookie, netripper, Moonah, netdrg, BsB, TX, metaldetector-lady and, and, and -and SKTools ) to work perfectly, smooth and without any fault but still would like some features like full rotational capab of Sense, which is provided by later ROMS. BUT WHICH ROM IS THIS ?
Maybe someone could add some infos ´bout that as a sticky thread ?? to decide wether to flash or not to flash when a new official ROM is issued by HTC, cause every ROM upgrade causes a hell of a work to make the HD2 work as smooth and flawless as before (I have now about 50 apps installed and configured to my needs).
Tx for Your understanding

[Q] HTC ROM on TMOUS

Hello Everyone!
I have hardspl on my TMOUS, and flashed the newest (3.14) international HD2 rom on my device with customRUU.
It is much smoother and feels better than the tmo rom (and don't have to watch tmo logo). The only problem is: in hardware information it showes 576 ram size and 1024 flash size, but storage size is only ca. 200MB (instead of 600), and usable memory is limited to 448MB (ca 200MB available for user). So these are only software limitations.
Is it possible to remove these limits with overwriting files or tweaking the registry?
Thanks for the answers,
th448
The new European Rom is incompatible with the T-Mobile US HTC HD2. No registry setting can fix that.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
not incompatible
Hell, not incompatible...
Everything works correctly, i'he tried. The only problem is the less available memory because of the soft limitations...
Riiiiight, which is what he said. The international HD2 has less RAM and ROM, so its programed to show that much. Flash a regular ROM, perhaps the new 3.14 Tmo stock ROM and you should be back to normal.
That's the funny fact: in hw information it showes the correct amount of memory, just can't use all of it...
And intern rom looks smoother as is said.
That's why on HTCs download page it says in blue so that it pops out at you
Note: This update is not intended for use on T-Mobile(US) HTC HD2, and doing so may have undesired side effects.
Click to collapse
But the point is, even though the ROM may be able to SEE it, it is not programmed to be able to access and USE it. You will have to either flash a T-Mobile US official ROM, or a custom ROM that works the the US HD2 in order to access all of the RAM and ROM available on your device.
I made a custom rom based on the international rom.
No flash limitations (600+MB free), and had to overwrite nk.exe from tmo rom, but 576MB RAM works. So it is 99.9% the new int rom.
