Which IM do you use? Let people know why you think its great

Hello everyone,
I made this post to hopefully help people with Instant Messenger and finding a great one for their use.
I have used Agile, IM+ and I am now using Verichat which used to be a palm aplication but has now been converted for pocket pc use.
It his by far superior to IM+ and Agile in fontionality I think
Imov I really dont like the interface.
So yes I think Verichat is the best for Pocket PC use.
The only problem is that it's not free!
Which one is your favorite and why ?

I am using IM+ and am very happy with it; it supports MSN, Yahoo!, AIM, ICQ, Google and Jabber. I haven't used all the background modes, but for chatting, it works great; easy to manage the various windows; and can view contacts by group (integrated across services). I haven't tried Agile, though I used Verichat on the Palm before -- My understanding is that Verichat connects to a Verichat service rather than directly to the IM services. I quickly removed the T-Mobile OZ client from my device ;-)
Would like to hear the pros and cons of Agile vs. IM+ for comparison, if someone has used both.

Do you find these forums usefull? I am not going to go software nazi on you (its how I earn a living), but discussing cracks etc on here could well get the forums shut down. Not really worth it, keep it to yourself.

How is wishing publicly for someone to develop a crack (in a sense advertising for one) not discussing cracks? If you want to disregard the facts and post contradictory messages, keep it to yourself.

Whatever gives you a laugh I guess, a good ole' personal attack is always the best route to go whenever you are faced with ugly facts. Good message boards can be ruined by crack requests. Developers no longer wish to lend their talents to the boards, board admins can get in trouble (Depending on where the server is located), Web Hosts / Co-Lo's can butt in, etc... Anyway, this thread has gotten off topic way too much, so this will be my last post in this one. Flame me if you want, but I'm not listening

It wasn't a personal attack. I was just stating popular opinion.

Umm, back to the topic. I like agile, but it has issues with my Wizard. It doesn't work well in landscape mode and it locks up my phone frequently. I like the fact that all my buddies on the different services show up on 1 buddy list.
I tried Verichat trial the other day, but it didn't display my side of the IM. That is unacceptable.
I also used OZ messenger for T-Mobile. It has a neat interface, but it uses SMS to send and receive.
I haven't tested IM+ yet.

I don't understand this ??? I see my side of the IM after I hit <enter>. It's displayed in red. There is a short delay before it appears tho...

Yeah, I think that is an issue with your verichat install. Mine works fine. I had IM+, but liked verichat a bit more for some reason. Seemed a bit more polished to me.
Plus, I like having access to the Verichat Bots to get info if Edge/GPRS isn't working.

oh and btw....IM+ sucks! it's no better than AgileMessenger......and the reason why it sucks is because it costs $40!! I mean c'mon 40$ to IM...that's just wrong! Max I'm willing to pay for a PPC app for IM'ng is 9.99 and it better be worth it damn it! (and the 9.99 better be a one-time fee....sure if they upgrade from version 2 to version 6 I don't mind paying an upgrade fee of 4.99....but yeah....that's where i stop)

Well--- I gotta say something:
I hate freenode. Example: You're in violation of the 'channel naming policy' as it's not 'GROUP REGISTERED', you need to have it double hash.
Get what I mean now? Also, their staff can be, sometimes hostile. Not saying names, they know who they are, so I guess I'll make it on my net.
My net is very close to freenode imho. Services and stuff just like them.

Got a lot of people too on my net. If you noticed, I always put in a irc channel for my rom's and stuff, I just think it's faster. . But I always want to use my servers, as I can make sure that it works, rather than rely on others to keep it up.

I run my own irc network, coffeenet, with some friends. we used to be a part of quakenet and have a varied userbase. lots of old school doom players hang out here among other techies.
Anyway, it's not run by assholes, so that's a good start.
If anyone decides this is a good option then join in --

Hosting Offer for Devs-Roms

I know some of you use free upload services that are sometimes slow and make end users wait to download. I have my own domains and use a hosting package for my little website that has 150 GB of space and unlimited traffic allowed. I can set up a subdomain and ftp account for devs to use in exchange for a donate button if anyone wants to put in towards my hosting fees. Nothing required just an offer for the community.

I'm not a DEV, just a stupid user. (and i do mean stupid), but I wanted to thank you for such a generous offer. That is really cool of you, dude.

Not a problem. Just went to download and was annoyed by one of those pay or wait to download sites and thought wait a second...lol

Ahh yes. That makes us brothers. I'm no dev but rather a very dangerous ppc pda owner. Completely moronic and stupid as they get. I usually have to read instruction 10 times on how to install apk files. So stupid I am. Worse than noobs. I once thought ppc stood for "pay per contract". But thxs for the offer.

I can only speak for myself but I frequent the General section a lot. I haven't given much input there but I do frequent it as there are really some decent topics being discussed. I have read other threads here were the OP says "well if I had posted in General then no one would see it". I disagree! Anyways I mean its easy to get things seen or heard, I mean cmon you just have to use your head a little tiny bit. For example if this was my thread. I would have posted it in the General section. Then I would have PMed the less than ten devs and themers we have in the Epic forums and told them to check out my thread. Then I would put the info in my sig. Maybe bold letters or colors. Its really not that difficult. Putting it here in the wrong section just promotes more incorrectly posted threads thus congesting the DEV section. The OPs intentions are good and I compliment him but he still needs to know where it belongs.

I'd prefer having threads posted in the wrong section to having to read more smoothone drivel. Every single friggin thread this guy is in there. Painful.

You do realize that most of these ROMs are 150mb or so in size? That means that only 1000 downloads and you're bandwidth for the month would be gone...and trust me, that will happen pretty quickly.
I'm also going to guess that since you've just got a small virtual hosting account and not a dedicated server, that you will have a pay additional charges per gig of transfer used over your 150 gig.
There's a reason why these files get posted to the free file hosting services

I believe they have 150 gigs of space and unlimited transfer. If anything I'd be concerned that the host would start throttling bandwidth... making for very slow download speeds. Not like the free file hosting services are fast tho...

Definitely correctly posted in the development forum. He wasn't offering free web hosting for anyone, just devs who have a rom they need a spot for.
And nice offer. If I had a rom to host I would be most appreciative.
By the way, there is a report post button that I have seen repeatedly mentioned by mods. That is the proper way to deal with a post you feel is in the incorrect place. You know how I know this? Because it exists...

My storage is 150GB. My transfer is unlimited It's a 1&1 linux hosting package.

To add my own experience to this...
I am hosting the Bonsai rom on my server, and while I expected it would use quite a bit of my bandwidth, I never expected that it would use around 100GB in 2 days.
I had to request that some mirrors be included to offset the bandwidth a bit (I only have 200GB a month BW). My Webalizer is showing 1574 hits for Bonsai v2.0.0.
It's a good thing you have unlimited BW, but I'm guessing that the download speeds will be throttled.
I mean, for $7 a month, I wouldn't expect they will let you rape their servers (bandwidth is expensive you know).

seriously i think its a great idea and if i ever get proficient enough to make my own ROM id be all about this idea, and as a end user of your guys awesome work it would be nice to not have to jump through the dumb wait 500 bajillion sec before you can start stuff.....

Asus Transformer NVFlash Stock 3.1 Recovery Roms

Thanks zerofeel, it worked perfectly. I did it with widows 7 x64 and it took about 3mins for the nvflash and about 2mins for first boot. I was back to 3.1/US total stock in just under 5mins

Plus side of forcing registration is the ability to sell advertising on you site if it has a high number of registered users.
Negative side is the liability incurred should the database be hacked and stolen.
Tough choice.

Would love to see a download mirror for the us and ww stock roms.

I'm running a paid version of vbulletin just like xda.

Thanks for that I have made backups of my original 8.2.3.5.9 partitions I wondered what partitions your 3.1 image restores to get back to stock?

I registered and got the links. Either I am too naive or others are too paranoid
The question is now: do I just flash the ROMs with CWM recovery or is there any other preferred method? I guess once I did this I can root using the method shown here?

Most of these downloads are linked to a site where you get certain advantages when you pay for an account such as faster download speeds, no limits per day, no waiting before download etc. But I did not pay and still got the file in ~10 min. Why is everyone here so hostile all the sudden???

Good question I run a great community that has done a lot of good **** for people. This is the first and last time I will ever post my **** on xda. Nothing against the site, but some of you are real assholes. I run my community on a server in my garage and have paid for the server, software, and bandwidth and you make stupid comments. The software this site runs on is identical to the software I use and its not cheap. I have google ads to fund contests, get devices for people, pay for my overhead, etc. What do you all do but run you mouth?
Last comment I will make on this site about my release.

Not a scam, not a con
No ads, just a fast 1and1 PHP server with unlimited space and unlimited bandwidth. I'm a DHD user and want to do my bit to thank the developer community.
The server is barely used so I would consider it a donation if any devs out there would like to use it. Please contact me by PM or reply here.
Please note I have considered the location of this thread being in the Development forum however I feel the thread is development related and this location is certainly the best place to have it noticed by a dev.

If you search the site there are a lot of people offering this for developers. Most developers have their own hosting but you could add something to your sig about it.
