HTC touch 2 Power LED Notification - Touch2 General

I have problem with led notification when i charge my Touch2. The software never indicates the 100% charge and at 50-60% it start to discharge and then to charge again. The led is always orange, not change to green.
After 3-4 hours of charging i remove the power source, i restart the divice and it show 100% the battery level.
Somone know how to fix this bug?
I think is the same problem with HTC Diamond2 Power LED Notification fixed by HTC.

Nobody with this problem?

No did not notice.....what you can do to solve is a soft and alternatively a hard reset......

This problem apear after an hard reset and i think is something from the registry. But i can't find what.

I have the same problem, can't solve it ((

yeah.. i have the same problem too..
there is something wrong with my mega after i made hard reset.
something wrong with the battery indicator. i had to reset my phone every time i charged.
so, please.. anybody know?? or even better, give us the solution..??

The same problem

There is an update on the HTC website concerning unlocking and resume after sleep http://www.htc.com/www/supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=291&act=sd&cat=all which is not an answer propably to your problem but would do anyway.
And for sure would take it to HTC service.....

Try this:
Try to plug the power cord to phone AFTER you unlock the screen. Verify the battery icon has changed to "charging" and leave the phone. The green led should light in max. 2 hours.
It works for me but i noticed this problem 2 times in 6 months.
I think it's a windows bug.

For my case, after hard reset it back to normal(turn green after full charge)

Assume that hard reset is performed in correct manner..!!

Hello
I am a htc touch 3g user.... ( JADE )
I have this problem since 1.5 years ago...
Nothing solved it... Flashing Lots of ROMs ... Changing radio...
I am ok with it

Hi,
Sorry for my English
I think that problem by charging the battery is on the charging method, ie on the charge current.
If battery is charged by PC (USB), then charge current is 300-350 mA (Medium Charging), battery is then fully charged (100%) without any errors.
When using HTC charger, charging current is 800-900mA (FastCharging) and then come the problems.
My presumption is that interruption of charging is due to rapidly increasing voltage and temperature of battery, and it leads to protection shutdown, Windows will detect the error as it leads to charging interruption.

Hello guys,
Please try the following,
1. Drain the battery completely i.e. use the phone it it switches off by itself.
2. Once done, start charging the phone & keep the phone powered-off.
3. Charge it completely till the LED status is Green.
The above method will refresh the battery & probably should clear the issue.

Battery Charging

Dear all,
Does anyone have the problem where HTC Touch 3G does not fully charged the battery even after 8hours of continous charge. When I do a soft reset the battery will show 100 percent and if I plug in back to the charger, the LED light on the device will turn solid green after a while. Also if I switch off the device via holding the power button and selecting 'YES' from the dialog box then it would also charged to 100%. Does anyone know if this is software or hardware related? Thanks.
Regards,
Kueh.
Me to: It will not completely charge!
Same behaviour here! It will not completely charge the battery. When I do a soft reset the battery will show 100 percent and if I plug in back to the charger, the LED light on the device will turn solid green after a while.
I guess it is software related..?
same on mine!
This is what I understand how it works...
The moment you unplug the charger, the fully charged battery is immediately used and becomes 99.999* %, even if the phone is off. Some power will be used e.g. the internal clock. But the default and customised some battery indicator will still show 100% (depending on what settings you use). If you use the customised 1% increment/decrement level, it will immediately show 99% and down and down. So when you plug on again, the battery is already 99.9999% and it will charge until 100%.
Battery issue..
The same behavior here too.
It appears as 100 % only after Soft reset.
And the LED - when the battery is full the LED flashing Green, but still flashing. The LED use some energy,so its normal for me.

When battery is about 10% gives a message about the low battery level. I charge it, and the battery level becomes up, until 70%, then stops growing up and the led continues in orange. It can pass hours and the level maintain the 70% and the led doesnt turn to green.
Any could say what could happen?
I think it wolud be problem of:
1- the battery
2 - the charger
3 - the hardware in the htc that manages the charging.
4 - The software in the htc that manages the charging.
5 - ...any idea?

Have you tried charging your unit with the screen turned off ? or maybe shutdown the phone and charge it, I do it in my Jade and it charge very quick. in less than two hours the LED turns green. Hope that helps
Hi,
I have to a Hard Reset for the battery recharging status to work. Also when third party battery Icon program is used the problem comes back again. So now I have remove them all and it have worked for a few weeks now. Removing the third party program without a Hard Reset does not do the trick. Hope this helps.

My opinion, you may have problem with the hardware, charger or even battery itself. You should send the set to the service centre.

I use a customised battery icon (the 1% incremental) and there's no problem. Full charging from about 10% is reached in < 2 hrs, even charging using PC or laptop.

Yes, I have used ArielBattery for quite a while, and I did not give me any problem. Now I am using this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3330601&postcount=69) and there's no problem either. And I do check and compare between the two

[SOLVED]HD charging problem

My 2 months old Touch HD doesn't charge the battery anymore.
If i plug the power cord, the notification led turns red for 5-7 sec., then it turns off, and the battery meter shows no charging.
I can sync it with PC but runs again on battery, even the check box (under the power meter) is unchecked.
The only way to charge the battery, is to let the battery drains out (the phone turns itself off) and remove the battery from phone for few minutes.
I have the original ROM 1.57.831.1 (47324) WWE from 04/08/09 and i tried one hard reset ("clear storage" from settings).
Does anyone know how to fix this ?
I'm verry disappointed. Now it does'nt charge even i remove the battery.
I think i'll try the warranty service.
No other suggestions ?
Are you sure it is the problem of the HTC HD? I got hte same problem. But because I charged my second battery which was newly bought from the official website HTC UK. My original battery works well. So I returned my second battery.
Try another battery.

yep, same here...
my girlfriend and me, we own a HD, pretty much the same issue...
My device frist stated "unkown main battery status" and has been only willing to charge the battery while switched off and connected to PC (charger doesn't work).
My grilfriend's one now refuses to start at all.
One thing for sure - its not battery related since my fully recharged battery doesn't make her device starting.
I sometimes pulled out the battery without swichting the device off, or left it running for days before reseting it...i guess that might have triggered the problem...
gotta send it in, hopefully they don't mind my custom rom!

I had this problem to.... Change of USB cable did the trick! So.....it's possible that your USB mini cable is dead. Try another USB if you haven't tried it yet.
Thank you all.

I don't think it's the cable because i let the phone charging on my desk and suddenly, after few minutes (sometimes 1 min, sometimes 60 min) it stops charging (without touching/moving the cable),

Well, in your case, for sure its not battery related.
After i left the battery out of the phone for 6 hours, it start charging again for 45 min then, the notification led start blinking red and green. After 2 minutes, the led turns off and i started the phone with 40% battery life.
It's driving me crazy and i don't know what to think!
I start to believe it's a battery problem but i'll ask for service opinion too, since i payed a lot of money for this.
Solved
My handset was repaired in service.
The problem was hardware related, generated by malfunction of switching power alimentation mechanism to motherboard.

[Q]Battery Problem/HD2 shuts down, 100% charged...

My phone has a charge problem, after 5 minutes on the charger, he stops charging (orange light becomes green...). When I try using it without charger, the batter seems to be charged 100%, but after a few minute, he shuts down, sometimes with a warning (of low battery), but mostly the battery still gives 99% and shuts down without warning...
When connected to the charger, no problems occur...
I already tried a soft reset and a hard reset (via buttons and via the settings)
Somebody thinks he knows a solution?
Sounds like a hardware fault either battery or phone its self
I agree, most likely a faulty battery.
thx for the very quick reply... I'm going to send it back. Found a forum where users of the HTC HD (1) had the same problem.

Is it possible to force battery charging?

I've bought an aftrrmarket battery and I have problems cahrging it.
It often shows itself as "fully charged", the led blinks from orange to green and it does not charge.
Whe in windows mobile, it shows 100% (not true) , but if i tap the battery icon i see the real percentage.
It does not recharge also when the phone is off.
BUT
I have noticed that when i am into android mode (one of the ported builds) the battery charges ...
SO
I think there is something preventing WM to charge the battery when it is 100%, and this control is missing in android.
now the question:
is it possible to "force" the charging in WM so that it bypasses the "100%" problem (like in android?).
Thank you in advance
I think an orange and green light means theres a problem and it cant charge,
I have an unofficial battery that does that too......
no, as i told you, there is something more.
when i am in wm or the phone is off, cahrging is almost impossible (orange and green led, wm icon showing 100% charge even if the battery is 1%).
BUT
if i switch to boot mode (vol down on startup, hspl screen) or if i am in android, THE BATTERY CHARGES.

So you are trusting android, in beta on these phones, over the default battery charging software?
I hope you don't blow up your battery.
Do you still have the original battery? Does it charge properly in WinMo?
I don't know if this is any help but... I also bought a very *ahem* low priced battery and experienced the same problem you mention. This was before android was stable so I have yet to try that, but I was able to fully charge the battery in winmo by putting the phone next to the air-conditioner. My thought when I read your post is perhaps that winmo is running the phone hotter and inhibiting battery charging. Somehow, I feel as though I'm grasping at straws...
'Force' and 'lithium-ion battery' should probably never be in the same sentence.
The flashing LED is an indication of overheating, thus the system stops charging until the temperature drops.
Try charging it someplace cooler.
If that doesn't work, the a method I read about is to run the phone until it totally flattens the battery, then put it on a full charge for at least 4 hours.

Darn, I knew I forgot something
I have one original battery which the phone came with, and THREE oem chinese batteries which look exactly the same, except for the lower barcode which is tinier than the one on the original battery.
I only charge them outside of the phone, with an ac mains charger, and they go to full 100% since it's what the phone say when I switch them.
Whenever I charge them in the phone (only time it happens is when I'm in my car and use the lighter charger) it's just math, they end up in the green-orange led loop, and they stop charging.
It's well known and it's related to overheating, but at least they do not drop as well, which means I can go on and use them for gps navigation or any other task and the battery will stay at the percentage at which I left it.
I also have the same behaviour of OP, that is, taskbar icon says the battery is 100% and NOT charging, info panel after tapping taskbar reports real percentage, S2U2 reports real percentage in green, which means S2U2 sees it as charging. Anyway, as soon as I go home, I wait for the battery to drain to at least 10%, switch it out and slap it into the mains charger.
My oem batteries last up to 3 days.
I have the official HTC extended battery and with the latest chucky rom i have been using it wont charge in the phone anymore. It always used to with no problems. There is something missing software wise that prevents it from charging.

Is the middle pin of the battery contacts bent or different to the others?
The green/amber flashing means "charging problem" which can be due to overheating, but also can be due to an incompatible battery.
When I got my HD2 with the original O2 ROM, the HTC large capacity battery wasn't compatible, this required a ROM update.
If you're running stock, make sure you've got the latest ROM.

Nope it seems fine. It charges the standard battery ok.
As I said im running Chucky ROM. I had something like 21st July chucky ROM on and it charged. Update to the 11th August ROM and it wont charge. Tried the 5th August the same. Havent had chance to go back to the 21st July one to check.
Incidentally I dont have green amber flashing lights. I have alternate Green and Red flashing.
The battery charges perfectly well in my desk charger and runs the phone fine it just wont charge in the phone.

Not sure I understand the phone crash part? The battery could be dead though, it is possible
Just trying to get an accurate idea of what happens:
When using your phone, it turns off at about 5%/6%, so you charge, however, the charge only lasts 2-3minutes and does not provide a full charge? At which point the operating system states it is still charging, however, the phone no longer lights up orange.
Do you get a longer charge when charging via usb or mains?
When it stops showing orange, does it go green/red or anything?
absolutely is the battery. buy a new battery!
Hi again, after i had opened a topic here, i took it to service. They tried another battery, result was still same. After 3-4min it stops to charge. They told me that the board should change
