Year closed. No major problems with X1 - XPERIA X1 General

Happy to inform the X1 community my wife's X1 celebrates its first year.
The case is 99% intact after three 1m falls to concrete floor. Electronics, touch screen, radio module etc. are all working as in the first day.
The battery is holding charge as new.
Recently we upgraded to 3G network, also no problems encountered.
Still the latest WM 6.1 stock ROM with some XDA forum addons.
My fem is happy with SEX1 and I'm happy with my fem. I could not afford another WM machine so just bought Nokia 5800. Ir's crap I may say vs X1.

No way. It didn't crack and have a broken keyboard or kill your cat?!?!?!
I'm sorry I couldn't help myself. After reading all of those people saying how their phones broke I had to try to "crack" a joke.

Great news, its always good to hear something positive

I have my x1 for nearly a year too.. No cracks on the case nor at the battery on the back of the phone.. Also the H/W keyboard works flawlessly although I have to say that since I read that after moderate use it starts to break down, I started using the touch-screen for typing more

I bought for her a cheap case from eBay. In few weeks she again dropped X1 to ceramic floor in bathroom. The case had been lost in action for good, no harm to X1.
So I just ordered three more cases "just in case". One is still intact, others in reserve.
The screen protector is also almost a full year in service. Time to change soon...

My year with the X1 was up last month. A small crack did appear after 9 months and there are a few scratches on my unit, but all in all I've been happy with my device. I haven't used a screen protector for the last 4 months and the screen still looks great. Everything still works well and it still looks sexy by today's standards (imo). Since my warranty is over, I've entered into the realm of flashing and got the latest Energy Rom. Feels like a new phone all over again. I love how we can customize our phones at will! Best phone I've ever had, hopefully it lasts another few years.

We deserve a better hardware, don't we?

I dropped my Universal yesterday. My fault. True.
And now it thinks there is always the headset in, so it's stuck and I can't answer the calls using the phone microphone, just bluetooth. And I can't hear the sms alert.
Again, my fault.
BUT it was already faulty, I had to put something in-out the heasdset hole because the sensor didn't work very well (it's a well known problem).
I should change the mother board, now, and I don't want to spend so much money.
Also because it happened to me to put the Universal in my pocket and... surprise, the screen was broken (substitution: round 150 Euro). Then I bought also a leather case to avoid this problem in the future.
I used to have a Sony UX50 (unfortunately NOT the Vaio UX50, same name, but it was Palm, not Windows XP) and I kept it with no prob in my pockets, and it fell down several times, surviving!
I'm not saying it should be unbreakable, of course, but my opinion is that a mobile device should be more robust. :?
Mate its all a matter of luck really. Im sure theres users on here like me who keep it in there pocket, who have knocked it around, and who have had some spills with it and theres still works fine. Well mine does. You people though who put them in your pocket and break the scrrens, id love to know what you are doing to have such an impact come down on your leg you break the screen.
Either that or your extraordinarily uncoordinated and walking into poles all day....in any case yours should be more durable, but you got unlucky unfortuntely.
This reminded of two anecdotes.
1) You're right, the sensor doens't work well. On my way to work the headphone jack slipped a quarter of a millimetre while I was listening to hardcore gangsta rap. You should have seen my face rushing for my pocket, desperatly trying to figure out what was happening. Even more shocked where the train passenger, having to listen to the Universal full blast :-D
2) I wouldn't call the the Universal flimsy, but it definitely doens't seem like the kind of device that could handle shocks well. I had 6 nokias and 3 motorolas before, and all 3 motos died (I'm rough with my devices ). The nokias where dropped off buildings and slammed against walls (don't ask) yet kept on soldiering. I would dare to subject the universal to the same treatment.
I decided to send my babe to Germany, where it came from, trying to resolve the problem.
In the meanwhile, I ordered the Nokia E61, by far an interesting smartphone (and, as you mentioned, Nokia phones are robust!).
My first Nokia, really amazing: wifi, bluetooth, 3g, latest symbian operating system.
If the Universal returns home, maybe I'll keep the Nokia as really "mobile" solution (that is in my pocket) and the Universal for business (taking notes, extensively browsing the web...)
Nokias, robust?
You obviously never had an 8210 lol
My wife and I really liked these phones when they came out so we had one each. We got through on average one a month. As I may have mentioned elsewhere in this forum, my wife doesn't do technology very well, walking into poles, dropping phones in toilets, coffee, beer, and other assorted disasters. I'm very careful with mine yet these 8210s seemed to be made of rice paper.
I'm now on my second HTC unit and the construction seems adequate, but not great. The hinge will be the first thing to go on my Uni, but that won't be because I'm rough with it, it just seems to be a weak point.
JasJar Universal screen broke for no apparent reason.
My JasJar was on a hotel bed. On moment I was playing with it. Put it down. Picked it up in a few minutes and the screen was broken and leaking liquid internally.
In this same hotel My little girl previously pissed on a imate PDA2.
Bad luck places aside. I had nokias 9X00 series the calm shell pda type. Those are much stronger than most HTC stuff.
I mean I paid lots and I mean lots of money for the JasJar, really as far as I know it is THE MOST EXPENSIVE MOBILE WITHOUT REAL DIAMONDS IN IT. And we get a flimsy case. The cover of the LCD is very weak. Very.
Take care of your HTCs.
Really HTC the next JasJar should be stronger and have more ram. Hello, we are buying the most geeky phone, a little more ram will really help. Wimps may be able to live on less ram but someone who buys jasjar would not.

Just shows how different people can have different experiences. I still have an 8210 and it's by far the toughest phone I've ever had. (admittedly I've got it in a G-shock type cover I found online, but that's been soaked, thrown about, crashed on a motorcycle etc etc and still works fine. (Admittedly it's the 2nd one I had - the screen became faulty on the first).
the good ol 8210s I had mine for so long, actually I had mine for about 1.5 years but then my mum had it for over 3 years. So 4.5yrs out of the one phone and during that time it had been pounded and dropped a hundred dozen times.
Such tiny phones, simple phones. The old days hey.
memories....
Most solid ever would have been my nokia 3310. That thing was shaped like a brick but was also solid as a brick. I dropped it hundreds of time, one time it even went completly under a car! I also threw it away as hard as I could against a wall (I get mad sometimes  ). Well, short of a few cracks in the cover, that phone still works today.
It doesn't resist water though, a friend of mine swam with his ( ) and the poor thing worked for like a few hours then stopped.

Paint problem really that bad or not?

Hello, im buying Touch HD and I saw people whining about paint getting damaged and dropping off. I have had 2 Diamonds, people said the same thing about these but I have never had paint problem myself.
So could you tell do you have this problem or not with paint. other threads are spoiled full with "it sucks" comments from same people 10 times which makes it hard to read is it major or just some people scratching phones with keys.
Maybe even tell when and where you bought your device from. This effects do I buy HD now or when invisible shield comes for HD.
Thanks!
If you dont have touch HD please press "View poll results"
Thanks
I can only vote once so I will add this: 2 of my friends have the HD and 4 colleagues have the dianond or the pro. NONE of them have paint chipping, only one has a single chip as a result of dropping it on a brick floor.
At this point, the only thing that really puts me off about this phone is the endless complainin and whining... it must be a certain type of person this phone attracts because e.g. the iphone 3g had similar and even worse problems: freezes, very poor call recepion, memory leaks, ****ty battery performance, super weak cracking and scratching plastic back cover and still it gets a religious following of people who believe and support it till the bitter end... ignorance? i doubt it, the iphone is an amazing phone, just like the HD.
I've been using HD for about three weeks now, and don't have any signs of paint coming off anywhere. I carry it in my pocket without any shield or case (although I don't carry keys or anything like that in the pocket).

I think the reason people winge on here is because we are geeks. fact. we want it to be the very best technically and also to look at. The Iphone is aimed at a different market. maybe the more fashion concious? i.m happy with my HD and I've been using wm since the first spv. go and get yourself one. they are great, I wish the rom chefs would get on it though. hope dutty starts cooking soon!
Have been using it for the last 2 weeks and I have purchased from orange. I had no problem with the body /paint. I am quite a heavy user and don't use any case.
In addition, every day at least for 2 hours, I use it for listening to music over A2dp, using opera and rss hub as well as checking, replying email/sms, freezing issue people mention did not happen once.
what the heck - I'll vote on this one
phone is now 2 weeks old, direct from Orange.
I tend to be reasonably careful with it - buit no more so than I've been with any other phone really.
This means it usually (but not always) get's carried around in it's sock.
It doesn't get put in the same pocket as my keys.
I not at all careful though when putting the stylus in / out.
No paint issues at all, nothing, nada, zip. Looks exactly the same as it did when I got it out of the box
That said, from looking at the (few) posted pics on the other poll, I would say that there is definately a (small!) batch of phones out there where the paint hasn't been put on properly.
In my opinion (form what that's worth LOL), those owners should be sending them back for a replacement unit.
A chip of paint coming off - could be anything.
A chip of paint where it has left a spot of paint in the middle of the chip - that doesn't sound right to me.
ok I'll bite....
had device for just over two weeks. Overall very impressed, just found opera a little slow, but not unuseable.
Then the paint started coming off. I haven't dropped it, it's been well looked after. At the stylus slot, there is maybe a 2 mm strip where the paint has flaked off. I found the more i used the stylus, the more the paint came off.
Then I found it coming off near the home button. So it would only get worse.
IMHO this is not acceptable for a £500 handset. That is a LOT of money. I'd rather the handset finish was better than the trendy packaging.
So I mailed HTC and they told me to return it.
I will wait until this has been resolved before getting another.
I dont own one so I didnt vote, but yes I would say there is an actual issue with the paint.
Just look at these polls
xda-developers - 37,9% having problems
A swiss forum - 9,4% having problems
A german forum - 17,5% having problems
My paint go off. Less than one week of normal use (never fallen, never clashed or shocked). Scandalous, 600 euro paid.
My serial start with "HT843..."
Thank you for your replies. maybe there was some batch with problems, but it doesnt seem too big problem to make me not buy touch hd :>
less than 20% with problems - some user faults (not blaming anyone) - and some inaccuracy from poll, cant tell everyone who voted has HD.
Id say it isnt so big problem and since stores and HTC said to replace the device its fine for me. Sooon touch HD <3
I was fortunate enough to read about this before I started using mine, so I've been EXTRA CAREFUL, and haven't had any problems so far... >fingers crossed<
I've had no problems, but then I'm being quite cautious after seeing the paint chipping others have experienced before I got my HD.
ordered my HD yesterday, I hope it was just one faulty batch or something, getting invisible shield asap it comes to zagg.
for what its worth, i had my HD ordered on the 19th of Nov. and after using it for 3 days i noticed two extremely small paint peals on the top left corner. device has been cared for like a baby!
Time to buy invisible shield :> ordered mine 4 days ago, should be coming sooon to save my HD from scratches and stuff.
I got mine since 4 weeks now. Carry it without any cover in my jacket or my pants. Sometimes together with my keys "shame on me". It even made one hard contact with the floor from 5feet. Not one scratch. Got lucky.
But since I read here, maybe invisible shild isn't a bad idea at all.
are here already some closeups of HD with IS installed?
If i knew this i would happen, i would have never have bought mines.. completely amateurish
Yes my paint comes off too.
Have a spot on top, 1 on the left and one on the right side.
All three are non-scratches, but 'round-ish' spots were the paint fell off.
On the bottom side the paint around the USB connector flakes off very baddly.
Going over it softly with my nail, you can feel the paint chip off like mad.
I was one of the first to own an HD in the Netherlands.(reference to the possible batch problems)
I'll post photos and serial later.
Paint scratched but only by keys
I scratched my phone badly with a set of keys placed carelessly in a rucksack. In a few weeks of ordinary use no other parts of the phone (except the parts scratched by the keys) show any sign of damage - even around the USB port where I always try inserting the cable the wrong way around appears undamaged.

[Q] How is your Optimus 7 holding up?

Hi everyone!
I was just wondering how everyone's Optimus 7 is holding up! Searching in Google I did not find that many problems... but I've been through hell with it!
First there were some fixed color vertical lines in the display... this was around 9 months after purchase. I did get bothered, but since they require 1 month (!!!) to send the repaired phone back to you here in Italy, I didn't send it.
Then it started rebooting a lot... gave some memory errors... and then finally would lock at the LG logo after rebooting a few times. Obviously at this point I sent it to repair... Ah, and the touchscreen was also not responsive at times.
I got it back, and the service center said that they made "electronic repairs". Fair enough, but... the touchscreen was still not responsive at times (the other problems were fixed)!
Then I send it again... got it back, now they said the exchanged the full motherboard. Should be fixed now, right? WRONG!!! Still the same problem!
Today I just sent it ONE MORE TIME to the repair center... I've been now almost two months without my phone, and I bought it only 13 months ago.
I've really lost faith in LG by now... So, what's YOUR experience with the phone? Am I unlucky or are these problems really common?
I've had no issues, and I can't really return mine as I live in the US and am using an unsupported phone.
The gorilla glass was a big seller for me because I hate screen protectors and even when they are on I still manage to scrath the glass. Aside from a minor scrath on the one side, the phone has taken my abuse with flying colors.
Was able to update and unlock my phone and runs quite well on AT&T's network.
Though there have been other reports of the issues you have had, I guess I'm just lucky.
not lucky too, my phone is now in service after a month use, i had problems with touchscreen
u talked about "not responsive at times", mine was working for itself - running application, scrolling on it's own, etc., once i look at the screen and had about 200 appointments
and as i red somewhere here, it was worse when i connected the phone to a charger, the difference was that i used original charger
My family use two E900 and two E906. No problems so far with the phones after a couple of months
Hardware wise it's fine and i am still pleased with it, it does not get recognized anymore by Zune though so probably i will be left behind when the new update comes up lol.
I have 2 of them and both of them randomly restart... I cannot use them anymore! LG Service in my country is unreliable and I'm saving money to buy 2 other models... LG devices are crap and I wouldn't say that if they were trying to support their customers with firmware updates or even some official announcements...they have left us eating their s%^& instead...
I bought one last October and it works fine till now (i receive all the updates)
It is vodafone branded and never flash it .
Well, mine (vodafone de) got a problem with the battery (poor) and video recording. It just freezes the camera app after I click cam button to end the recording.
Since I'm in russia and the service is in deutschland... it's dumb to send it back and then here again) It's easier to buy $300 lumia 710 here / $150 focus on ebay. Since I don't really use recording, i don't mind, I'll wait for wp8 devices.
As for the updates - flawless! I got them almost instantly, loving vodafone and LG support for the platform.
After 8 months mine started randomly reboot on its own, and as LG Support is not working across Europe I am now fighting seller (Amazon) to repair it. If not, I try to sell or repair and sell it.
And as I was never happy with WinPhone I hope I will get my money back and go for Android or iPhone afterall. Use to have WinMobile-system phones since 2004 but new Windows Phone is just a great mistake of Microsoft - greed is not always good advisor.
Hi All,
My Optimus is holding up quite well. I did have issues with the intermittent shutdown / reboot. This has disappeared since 8107 (maybe simply some luck?). I flashed my phone with a firmware from the forum here (thanks Nasirahmed), since then I have a dutch ROM and tethering. Then I updated with the force method to 8107 (I have little patience ).
Hardwarewise my Optimus has been topnotch. I dropped it from considerable heigth a few times and after reassembly of the battery and batterydoor it still works very well and there is no visible damage. Quite different from my former HTC diamond 2 and Xperia. The Xperia disintegrated spontaneous, got repaired and continued disintegrating. The Diamond 2 fell three times (from less heigth) every time there was visible damage and eventually the screen got broken (and repaired I must say). So I think the Optimus is a quite sturdy device.
Windows phone 7 is nice and fast, has considerable limitations (compared to for example Android and WM6.5) and I doubt it if I would buy a WP7 again.
My two cents.
Ronald
My phone came up today from the third visit to the repair center... let's see if it is finally OK!
About the Gorilla glass, something weird happened to me: after I dropped a few water drops on the screen back in December, some "air bubbles" appeared on the screen... When I first took the phone to assistance, the guy just said that it was the screen protector (???) and just removed it (in front of me), so indeed there is a screen protector... I neved noticed it before the bubbles appeared.
Anyway, if the glass of the screen is Gorilla Glass, why does it comes from the factory with a screen protector? Do I need to buy a new one (he said this wasn't covered in the warranty...)?
I removed my screenprotector also. It annoyed me, and the device has Gorilla glass, so what can happen??
No issues here. In fact, its been an incredibly stable & sturdy phone for me.
Ive dropped it more times than I care to admit to & it has very little to show for it.
The screen has only one tiny scratch, no idea how it happened considering I have been at it with a chisel, screwdriver, keys, drill & craft knife since to see if they do any damage. That screen is near indestructible.
I love how well built it feels. I pulled off the charger cover a few months after buying it (which was as soon as it was available in the uk)
Software wise, Ive not had many problems either. Used to have the odd random restart here & there, but that was fixed when mango appeared.
So yeah, still a happy chappy
Sincerely? Like s**t.
It's the worst phone I have ever had. WP7 is great, no complains here. But considering how tight the OEM specs for WP7 is, LG screwed in everything they could.
The screen is just average at best;
The camera is probably the worst in 1st gen Windows Phone;
The physical buttons are a good idea, but they are too big and the plastic is too cheap. Specially the Windows button;
The battery-life is short, really short. Before and after Mango;
And the random resets, at least once a day, sometimes in the middle of a conversation.
My next phone will be another Windows Phone, but I will never buy anything from LG again, not only phones...

I don't agree with all your complaints, even though I will also not go to LG again due to my own problems. Anyway, before all the hardware faults I had, my main complaints were:
1) VERY, VERY bad auto white balance in the camera. When the flash was on, 70% of the times I got completely blueish images.
2) I like the idea of actual physical buttons... but not this noisy! When in bed these buttons can actually wake my girlfriend (yes, she is a light sleeper).
I have no problems at all; only the battery is draining too fast even with all battery saving options turned on and also in airplane mode But the hardware buttons are great! It´s great that you never can hit them accidentally And I love the aluminium backcover, it looks so good! The display is also good, but in daylight its sometime hard to read... Now I´m only missing a custom rom and some apps or games like Tap Tap Revenge
Apparently battery life is a common problem among optimus 7 users. I haven't had any problem with mine (I've had mine for 6 months) except for a terrible battery life while HDSPA connection is on.
mine is rebooting like crazy now. I'll bring it today to my dealer, for repair. but I think LG will screw me, because mine is vodafone-rebranded, and originally it was OPN. Although the issue has nothing to do with the flash, and they certainly know that, because it seems that sooner or later, al Optimus 7 will start rebooting and fail the SD
My Optimus 7 started rebooting randomly, and also the battery wasn't lasting as long.
Buying a new (real LG) replacement battery seems to have cured both problems
Time to say something positive about the E900
It is the best mobile in terms of reception that I ever had. 2G, 2.5G, 3G (HSDPA) are stable and fast (T-Mobile in Germany). Compared to my former devices (HTC Legend and Samsung Galaxy S) this is excellent.
The Wifi reception is even better than my laptop's Wifi (Dell Latitude E5410) and definetly best among my three mobile phones.
Wifi tethering works absolutely flawless, no need for cables anymore.
I received updates always with one of the first waves (besides tethering which arrived first on Vodafone branded devices). For the old HTC Legend as well as the Samsung Galaxy S there are no more firmware updates expected. But LG and Microsoft still deliver updates for the first generation LG E900. That's what I call a good service.
Sure, there are some points the E900 is not rocking. The display is very bright at night (you can light up a whole cinema ) and doesn't have the colors of the AMOLED displays but we knew that before buying it. But the TFT doesn't have the gaps between the pixels like AMOLED displays.
And the camera is no DSLR. With good light conditions it is ok for snapshots. But for real photos I would never use the optics of a mobile phone. And I don't want LG to integrate a fullsize DSLR chip and lenses. That won't fit in my pocket
Ah, yeah, the random reboots. Had that issue on my device as well. But it occurs less often than my Samsung Galaxy S is hanging completely.
Summarizing I am happy with the E900 and I will continue to use it as long as LG and Microsoft provide support for it. It was a great deal to buy it a year ago for just 190 EUR.

U will NEVER SETTLE with this piece of crap

after disappointing from Panasonic non branded phone my self thought to buy something branded and well customer service handset
but I had taken one chance once again with this peace of crap OPO and now feel really bad want to remove one plus logo from my signature
main reason to buy this that it has great support of Xda developers and its really feels me really proud to be part of this community where I got lots of software improvement over my OPO which makes this phone extremely good in case of software improvement
but one time by my self done a big mistake that I corrupted my efs partition that time I went to service Center 300 km away from my home which cost me 1500 as travelling and residential charges
but this time they serviced well without any cost and served in 1 day
that time I feel blessed thought after this there will no more frustration
but yesterday i was working all day and my OPO was in pocket
when I came to home surfed my OPO for 2 hr and some calling after that when I put my OPO beside in bed and I am busy in my work as per my habit I took my OPO and tried to unlock but screen not worked(thought it was started ghost touches as many users reported)
I rebooted it back and dine the same thing but no luck
then I look closer to it's screen there is small crack on screens uppermost part
but how this happened previously my self used galaxy s advance ,Nokia c6 which has gorilla glass and never happened like this
not even this my micromax android one was thrown by my baby many times but it has scratches on back but not a single problem with screen
my **** Panasonic eluga u has many software problems but not a single screen problem as I dropped many times
so I am aware of many users problem regarding screen crack
do I am precisely handling it like baby but what the price of crap this is
I called customer service they told me now it has physical damaged then it does not have any warranty
u have to pay 7000 rs for screen replacement ( here I got some blessing that on net I searched and most of peoples paid 12000 for this)
This phone cost me 22000 7000 1500(travelling to service)=30500
in this price some one will get high end phone of branded company
but what the output of 1 1
>extremely low quality of hardware ( so they managed to drop its price)

some one will think I don't handled this phone properly
but real fact is that I am known of all issues regarding this phone and handling it very carefully but dropped previously from very low height ( where my third class micromax and panasonic phone dropped lots of time from high hight and working wrll till now) 1or 2 times but it survived with lots of scratches on plastic frame of gorilla glass.
conclusion:
there slogan is real NEVER SETTLE after purchasing this phone u will never settle forever and u will have to add more mony time to time means 1plus 1 and u gain 0
there strategy of marketing is like this
sell defective pices at low price
use low quality hardware material( scratch resistance gortila glass what a joke which cracks automatically) so more damage more money
this is Chinese company and its a real China toy with fake promises of never settle and satisfaction
so Indian users my request from heart not to buy this and go to branded products having good customerservice so though problem will raise u will not regreat
1. Efs backup you should have done (saw your previous thread on that issue)
2. Gorilla glass like any glass is not meant to stop cracks. I don't care what they say or advertised Its glass come on now.
Sorry for your luck but if your letting your baby throw devices around then this was bound to happen
So you unlocked your own bootloader and flashed stuff without taking backups before beginning. OnePlus kindly repaired this for you from the sound of it, which was nice considering it was your fault for not taking backups.
Then you dropped your phone and cracked the screen, rightly they won't repair it for you without you paying. Sounds sensible to me.
Any phone dropped can and will break, sometimes people are lucky with how they fall sometimes not. All phones break if dropped from a small height if they land just wrong. Doesn't matter what the glass is it breaks.
As for all the other "issues" that you have managed to find, if you search for any phone you will find a similar list of issues around and about for them, sometimes things go wrong.
If your phone had all of those issues that you have listed then they would have repaired it for you.
Can't say that I (and the majority of others) have ever had any of those issues.

Can't say that I (and the majority of others) have ever had any of those issues.

all I want to say that this phone has very bad quality of hardware that I don't understand how its glass got broken I even not fall it down( previously when I dropped that happened 1 month before this)
I just kept all day in my pocket
at night near about 8pm I used it that time it seems okno problem at all but suddenly when I took it in hand and it seems not working and screen got broken( its not thrown by my baby )

1. Efs backup you should have done (saw your previous thread on that issue)
2. Gorilla glass like any glass is not meant to stop cracks. I don't care what they say or advertised Its glass come on now.
Sorry for your luck but if your letting your baby throw devices around then this was bound to happen

its not thrown by my baby and I doesn't dropped by myself any more( 2 time I dropped it down was 1 month ago and there was no single problem)
every one feels irritation when their handsets got in problems when they does nothing wrong with it( previous efs problem was mine and I apolize for it but this was not mine)
I don't see how you cracked your screen without drop or when it was in your pocket you bump up against something hard or bending a certain way etc......
But either way sorry for your bad luck

Game Over Xperia SP

After almost 3 years, my good old Xperia SP fell hard and the glass screen protection broke.
I always had a silicon case, and it survived a lot of falls (even very hard ones, while biking etc.), but this time it fell screen first on a metal furniture corner. Incredibly, the phone still works fine (touchscreen works without problem, screen itself is not broken), but it is very hard to read due to the cracks.
I feel quite bad for having to replace my phone while it still works, but it's not really usable in this state, and the repair cost is too high for such an old phone.
So I will buy a new phone, and just wanted to say a big big THANK YOU to all the devs who dedicated so much of there time for our phone. I can't remember all there names, but @uberlaggydarwin gave our phone a great and much needed start, and more recently @Adrian DC gave our phone great CM versions (MM on Xperia SP is so great!), so this one goes out to you guys !
Thank you all, and keep coding !

Well, you can buy a new touchscreen for less than $10 free shipped from China (try ali****) and the installation process is relatively easy. At least that what I did when the digitizer of my XSP stopped working.
I'll use it as-is, but as a backup phone.
I used to to take my old dumbphone back out on some occasions, now I'll have my XSP for that.
