What was the cmd line you typed in?
should have been:
fastboot flash radio radio.img
I have seen/heard of folk doing:
fastboot flash "data" radio.img
or something else instead of the radio for the 3rd part and bricking, or flashing something instead of radio for the 4th part... which can be very very bad.

Well, if your phone won't turn on or charge, there is nothing you can do... just trying to help you figure out what went wrong and bricked your phone so when you get a new one, you don't do it again.
I think you should call or write your local Htc hotline.
If it is bricked Htc (UK) is the one to unbrick it,I read somewhere.
You must cover the repair yourself (root= no warranty)
If it won't power on at all they may not be able to tell (with out specifically checking for it) the boot loader was unlocked. Let us know what happens.
*Edit*
I just noticed your other post here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=645100
Are you sure you didn't type Fastboot flash radio recovery.img
Looooong shot, but does it power on if you remove the battery (leave it out) and plug usb cable into phone and computer?

The phone won't power on with the battery out. Even if you are plugged into AC.

I hadn't actually had a chance to try when i posted that but have since. I believe (i could be mistaken) the g1 did turn on that way and thats why i said loooong shot haha.
Yea, it just blinks the led light at the top green and orange.
checking MD5sums is just so important. I did not on any Radio flash, but got lucky.
All should 100% check this stuff on Radio's at least.
Guess this is the 2nd bricked nexus one reported thus far.

This is at least the 10th ish I have seen on here. A couple from people trying to flash a Hero ROM, couple from people doing battery pulls during the OTA, and a couple more from people installing the radio.

i rooted my mytouch and was trying to revert to the 32b board and preformed all of these commands, all of which were successful,
fastboot flash radio radio.img
fastboot erase system -w
fastboot erase boot
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot flash recovery recovery-RAv1.2.0G.img
but now my phone is stuck at the red vodaphone screen, please if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.
how long has it been stuck at that screen for? did u keep it on for a few minutes? try taking out the battery for a few minutes, then re inserting it.
run fastboot into recovery on computer and it will wait for device. plug phone in without battery then put battery in phone and it should throw phone into recovery .
alrite i was able to get into fastboot an i reflashed sappimg, hopefully all will be good i think i'll just stick with 32a until i figure out what i did wrong, thanx all
Hang on, Firstly you said reverting back to 32B. Then you said you'll stick to 32A? Which do you have? You run a risk of bricking the phone putting the wrong firmware on it.
I have a t-mobile mytouch, when i rooted it the board ends up being 32a (im pretty sure everybodys is like that) so i started to follow the "daredevil steps" to change the board to 32b but that created the stuck vodafone screen

Yeah I think it was stuck because you need to install a ROM first.

ya bro. he didnt flash a 32b rom. thats all that was left. when you dont have a rom and revert back it sits at the splash because the phone is looking at you or whoever saying "ummmm ya i dont know what to do now?? rom???" lol. its an easy fix. have fun all!!!! yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One problem is that you can not see the red text "Recovery Mode" on the red background. Someone had the same problem on another forum.

Can you provide a bit more info on this? This might lead to somewhere. I read some folks have red background with blur logo (maybe mean the recover text is hidden there)? I will be happy if it is in deed in recovery mode with red background. However, my bricked phone has red background with clear logo.
I have this from a german site
http://www.android-hilfe.de/vodafone-htc-magic-forum/3419-nach-flash-handy-startet-nicht-mehr-2.html
roughly translated: he thought that he stuck on the start screen but actually was in fastboot mode. he just couldn't see it trough the red Vodaphone screen. He pressed home+power and could load the backup from th PC into the phone.
Alright so my friend decided to try to root his phone and put hero on it, got stuck on hero splash and just reloop. I figured if i install the recovery image and set him back to the mytouch rom it would work but now it wont even turn on!! If i take off the battery and put it back in I can push the trackball and power for the blue led. But thats it the screen wont come on!! Or make any noises or vibrate. Now when i take off the battery and put it back in and connect it to a charger (AC or USB) the orange charging light will come on but as soon as i push the powet button it turns off and wont come back on until I take off the battery and put it back in. So what do yall think is the Problem?? The phone wont turn on at all.. Any Help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!
Ok I think I know what happened now!!! When I applied the update for the recovery I accidently put on an update to the SPL so I think that is what is keeping it from starting!! IF ANYONE CAN HELP ME PLEASE SAVE THE DAY!!
I am in the exact same situation as you...

nor adb nor fastboot recognize it...

remove the battery and SD card. Insert the battery and power the phone on WITHOUT the sd card in. Once its on insert SD card. freaked out but i figured it out myself.
i flashed the spl from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=592856 and it updated good, then tried to flash the radio which wasnt signed. so i mounted the sdcard and signed the radio, copied radio to sd and had to reboot because it was still reading the first radio.. so it rebooted and it never turned back on. any solution?

That spl and radio are for a 32A Board. That will definitely brick the phone. Also, you are supposed to update the radio first, then flash over the spl.

Hi all,
I managed to brick my device during radio upgrade (check my last post on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=632869&page=2) so now my magic is showing some picture after powering on which i do not understand what it means - after few seconds this picture blacks out and that's it (display is lit but it is black).
Fastboot, recovery and goldcard process are not available.
Help is appreciated, and also suggestions to revive it as well.
P.S. I tried to give it to the service, they said "Tampered boot" and returned the unit back to me as is so I am on my own here :-(
over 100 reads and no answers? C'mon people, I am sure that there has got to be someone who knows what this picture means
The picture is a system screen. It's in the background while updating roms and what not. What version of android are you running and can you get into any boot screens ie. powering on using back and home at the same time?
To be quite honest I do not know which version of android was on before - i just know that it happened during uploading radio 6.35.08.29.
Back + Home + Power on shows same picture.
If I put same radio as update.zip on the SD card would it have any sense??

Well it's been a while for me, but it seems like that pic is from the original recovery, you require amon's recovery.
Have you gone through the steps from Cursordroid, upgrading/downgrading SPL and Radio? Follow his procedure, grab all the correct files and use Fastboot.

I also noticed this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=632102 - exactly happened to me, semms like this radio version 6.35.08.29 when uploading from SD card is bricking a phone sometimes - BEWARE !!!
Please explain how to do recovery from cursordroid - have in mind that I only have SD card, I cannot reach fastboot, recovery or anything... If it can be done by putting some files to sdcard please describe it and if successfull i am buying beer... Hell, if it works i might introduce you to my younger sister ;-)

A few days ago my 32a did the same thing. I tried to use fastboot and didm't work. I had 6.35 radio and I had updated it like it said in the instructions.. I took the batery off several times, and it booted properly.. Try to do that.. Sorry for my english..
Sorry for my bad english ,
It's happen to me too. Yesterday I had my friend’s htc magic . He gave me that because he said that it was briked. When I press back+power or voldown+power or home+power , the result is same like picture in first post.
no adb and fastboot worked . How about you ? Is your phone normal again ?
thanks before .

I think your phone is 99% bricked. Press hang + back, if you can entry hboot mode. Then try the attachment files.
Please be sure your phone is rooted and not perfect SPL.

hm.....that pic was displayed after I upgraded Radio, too. but then it was back to recovery mode, and I reboot & my phone work normaly w radio updated... So I think it's not danger pic :-?
once youre in that recovery mode, if you hit the home + back again anything happen?
i know if i get that screen on the Dream, I hit home +back again it changes my screen with options.. On your phone it may be vol dn + home try it out, mine gives me the option to flash update.zip from my SD card again.
Unfortunatelly I cannot get to hboot (home + red button), nor fastboot (back + red button) nor even volume DN + redbutton...
Looks like it is bricked 100%.
So guys, be carefull when upgrading radio 6.35.08.29 :-(

Read carefully and follow the instruction here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=605239
then i don't think there is to much to worry about!
For me it sounds like you updated the radio and restarted the mobile before updating the SPL. OR you forgot to check the m5dsum of the radio and flashed a broken radio file to your mobile.
It's IMPORTANT that you guys remember to check md5sum of the files before flashing em cause a broken radio/spl file can brick the phone!
same pictrue on my magic
My magic have same picture. I try to study Android for help it.
I see more and more threads like this and no movement in direction which could unbrick the phone without changing the motherboard...
Seems like I'm in the same situation as the OP. Got the same picture and can't do anything about it.
here's the rom i tried to load: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=776971
i was already using custom winmo roms. the build above included a "task 29" step. after applying this my phone would get stuck on the white htc screen when booting. it also hangs in recovery mode. see attached screenshot for where it's hanging in recovery.
hspl 2.08
radio 2.12.50.02_2
am i bricked? is there a way to resolve this?
thanks!

how am i supposed to do that when a usb connection can't be made? remember, the phone gets stuck on the white htc screen when booting.
you task 29d without knowing what it is. task 29 formats your phone so there is no rom to boot, so it hangs.
enter bootloader and flash your rom, and never do something without knowing what its for again!

the chef included that with his rom. other chefs hadn't done that and i wasn't aware of what it was. seemed a departure from what others were doing, but maybe i shouldn't be so trusting of these chefs in the future. thanks for taking the time to tell me what was going on. i really do appreciate it.
you had luck though
others dont watch out with the radio (tmous devices)
task 29 cant damage your phone..
but remember that in the future

when u plug the USB in, the word 'serial' will change to 'usb' so u can flash as normal, reason it sticks on white screen is after a task 29 the phone is blank.

Then your not bricked you just probably haven't done a full wipe. As for not knowing what the spl is I suggest you stop whatever your doing and go find out. This is basic rooting knowledge and the fact that you clearly haven't a clue means you need to go do some reading and learning fella before doing anything else.
