Hey xda,
Just wanted to share my experience on a warranty repair with unlocked bootloader. Incase any of you are about to go through this.
I've had to recently send in my phone on a warranty repair for a dead pixel and also getting static interference on my phone speaker when the ringtone is sounding on a incoming call.
Upon calling them they offered a exchange but after I told them I had an unlocked bootloader they said they can only do a repair job on it.
So I ship my phone and 2 days later I get a repair quote for $196.00. I call them to find out specifics and they said I need a new motherboard. My phones been in it's sleeve since I first got it a few weeks ago and absolutely has never been dropped. Which means a failing motherboard came with my phone from the beginning. Now they are telling me that an unlocked bootloader voids my warranty. I have pointed out to them that I know of plenty of people with unlocked bootloaders & clear hardware malfunctions who were able to get a warranty repair or even a warranty exchange!
Now my ticket is being escalated and I will hear back from the higher ups in 48-72 business hours.
Any helpful advice guys?
Thanks,
-L
All you can do is wait... I'd bet that the escalation people will approve the repair under warranty. If not, then everyone needs to be on notice and my prediction has come true.
Code:
I told them I had an unlocked bootloader
Wonder if they would have just sent you a new one if you didnt say that.
By "static interference on my phone speaker", do you mean you hear static when the speaker is ringing? Does the speaker-phone play music without static noise?

I think they would've sent a new one but I had to put a $529 on a credit card to do so (which I would've done). But I was afraid that they would've kept the $529 if they found out that my original phone bootloader was unlocked. So I figured I'd tell them for the sake of good karma...I'm really not trying to hustle HTC here.
Yes every couple of calls when my phone rings, the ringtone would be accompanied by a lot of static. I've tried playing back music and trying to recreate the problem but I couldn't get any static out of it on my own. Just randomly happens on it's own during incoming calls. Didn't matter what ringtone I was using or what radio I was on.

The $529 deposit is so you have an incentive to send back your old phone and not keep both. Once they receive it, the charge is undone.

Yea I know its just a temporary hold but I thought they inspect your old phone upon arrival. Guy on phone told me they can't do anything with unlocked bootloader phones on exchanges which is why it was out of the question. I was just afraid that my old phone would get there and they realized it was unlocked...would've been a more complicated situation then since they are holding my $529.
Where you from? need put $529 for deposit? Being charge $196.00 a bit high, so poor you.
Then service center in Singapore is better, no need any deposit, mine one also root and dead completely and they fix for me FOC.
I'm in Miami, Florida. Had to send it in to HTC in Texas I think.
I will wait and see when they get back to me from the ticket escalation. Hopefully there's a kind soul there!
May god bless you, wish you all the best
Get it replace FOC
Mother board replacement to fix dead pixel
HTC charged me £128.00 to repair signal fault on my N1. They told me that it needs a new mother board as i've unlock the bootloader.
I think they riping peoples of who ever unlocked there bootloader and send for warranty.
I don't understand you, a new motherboard for the issue with the faulty signal?, or the motherboard is to lock the bootloader?
Not to be mean... but you did unlock the bootloader and void the warranty. It's clearly stated everywhere that this is the case.
I don't see what the problem is.
Seems HTC will 'change' the motherboard for anything.
When I thought I would be stuck on ERE36B for ever, I anonymously asked them if there was a way to get it regressed to official firmware. As you may have guessed, they told me they would have to replace the motherboard at a cost of £105
When I sent them my phone for a cosmetic issue, it came back with ERE27 and the same IMEI, so my original motherboard.
Sounds like they're just trying to scam people to be honest.
I've read elsewhere that HTC doesn't repair motherboards. Their fix for everything seems to be just to replace the motherboard.

I agree but I really thought the build quality on a $500 dollar phone was going to outlast 3 weeks before I had to send it in. You have to see both sides of the story here. Sure it protects HTC but what if on the other hand there's a lot of faulty hardware out there and it actually starts working in their favor. As we're all noticing here now their "repair" process seems to just be an automatic new motherboard. Sounds like a rip off.
So after the escalation they still don't want to cover it with warranty. The rep on the phone says that replacing the motherboard could reinstate the factory warranty. Basically it looks like they are trying to do all these MB replacements on rooted phones so that you have a locked bootloader again & warranty...at the cost of $196.
I asked if i can get a quote for just a repair on the dead pixel and was put on hold for 10 minutes. Finally the agent gets back on the phone to tell me he needs to escalate the ticket in order to get a price quote for just the screen. So now I won't hear back from them until Monday (the earliest) in order to find out how much it is to fix a dead pixel issue.
This is the second time my ticket has been escalated and going onto a week without my phone. It seems like the escalating thing is a nicer way of them saying "don't call us back for a few days."
Getting very frustrated at this point.
I have to say, that it doesn't seem right to charge for hardware repairs because of a rooted phone. I'm going to go read their warranty policies and also look to see if I can find an official message on the web from Google saying that only the software warranty is void. If they make no distinction, then its not even a plan B option for me.
Currently I want the Desire. If it doesn't become available with in the next month or so, I was going to get a Nexus One for the Verizon network.
I feel for you on this one. Activating a change in software really should not affect their hardware obligations to you. I can see them charging you if you sent your phone in and software caused an issue with your device some how but thats not likely the case here.

Thanks, I was trying to look over it myself as well. I don't see much clarification between hardware and software warranty.
I tried calling HTC to file a complaint (mostly over the repair process) but they have no complaint system set up.
I would love to be able to write someone higher up at HTC or even Google explaining my situation. I can't find any contact email on the internet. I know sometimes these things can be resolved just by getting in touch with corporate offices or headquarters directly.
Anyone have any useful (public) emails for either HTC or Google?

Keep me updated. I called t-mobile today and set up Insurance which covers lost/stolen/cracked screen/ blown up for 4.79 a month. Its a 130 deductible too. Worst case is I get my phone back, send them the swap and then play some nexus firsbee. If your in the Chicagoland area, please join me.

Ah crap. I've missed the 14 day insurance period by a couple of a days. I had no idea they offered it.
i know it's not related to the above issues but...
got dinged for 55 bucks for dust under the screen since i had an unlocked bootloader.
also pissed because the guy on the phone told me the bootloader would also be relocked as per my request. going to give them a call about that monday...

hi guys. i have a cingular 8525 that ive had for probably about a year now. i think im slightly over the warranty but i may be just under it. not sure.
my 8525 has been giving me TONS of problems recently (probably right after the warranty was over, if it is lol) which is just my luck.
i got the red light several times. often times it refuses to charge anymore. and now since yesterday the speaker on the phone stops working randomly.
not just the loudspeaker but the speaker in the handset itself as well, so basically all sound stops, and no its not muted.
anyways i went into a radioshack store and noticed one of the guys working there had the new tilt. he said he got it by returning his 8525 under warranty and they gave him a new one, the tilt.
now, obviously getting a free tilt would be awesome, but at this point id be just as happy if they still replace my current phone. i would like the tilt though lol. anyways, here is the problem.
a few months ago, a friend of mine dropped my phone. the loudspeaker stopped working, and hence no sound was working on my phone. so i opened up the phone and found out that the plug had simply come undone. i found that out from this site. so obviously now my phone is out of warranty it no longer has the void sticker.
does anyone have any help or tips to help? im seriously considering trying to find some sort of void sticker to replace it. but i doubt that would work. would htc take the phone anyway? i dont know. id be afraid to get charged for another phone cuz i have no money right now because of college books etc.
any help as soon as possible would be MUCH appreciated, because i think my warranty is up any day if it isnt already.
thanks guys.
im guessing no one has a reply on this?
It sounds like you're out of luck man. I say it's one thing to upgrade or modify software on a phone, etc, because you can easily restore it before returning it, but it sounds like you're looking for methods to deceive the phone company. That's not cool. So that you don't put yourself in a situation of getting charged like $500 for returning a crapped out phone, look for a used one or something? Some of the things that they look for upon processing a returned phone is the VOID sticker, battery connectors, and any apparent physical damage caused by drops, etc. Don't do it! I'm sure you have several phones sitting around that you can pop your SIM card into to get you by?
well hey im not trying to deceive them in a bad way. so dont get me wrong here. its just that all i did when i opened the phone was plugged the speaker part back in, nothing else. that was several months ago. everything was fine until the past month when the phone started going downhill.
either way, i contacted att they put me through the warranty department, etc. i told them the void sticker came off. theyre sending a replacement phone, and i should get it by the end of the week. how to i restore the os's software? i am aware of downgrading back to att's wm5 version but is that all i need to do? would i need to change any radios, spl versions, etc?
thanks for the help.
oh yea and theyre sending me just another 8525. no tilt.... oh well haha.

Since when was deception EVER done in a good fashion??
Probably fall on deaf ears anyway since youve got a replacment 8525, lesson to learn here is the VOID sticker really is there for a reason.
um ok whatever. i dont see why i am getting bashed over this when you can find things such as this and more on this site. so we are too guilty to decieve htc over something simple as a speaker plug coming undone, but guilt free when tricking att into using there mediamax plan for basic phones as opposed to there pda plan, because it costs more?
funny that. and the best part is thats not even the sneakiest of things ive come across on these forums. but ok whatever. heh.
all im saying is its one thing because the speaker came unplugged. now if i had tried to completely replace a part, or tweaked with something in the phone itself, rather than just push the plug back in so i originally would not have to bother with a warranty exchange and go through all the trouble. i havent even had the phone for a year yet and its as of recent been going to ****.
but yea.....im a deceptive, lying cheating theiving bastard.
oh yea. and one more thing......given even if i was some sort of a con artist from this.....does htc video drivers come to mind? where as htc makes phones more expensive than an iphone (kaiser) but with the functionality of something of less than half the power? and im the theif? ok.
heh
Chill out man. This is an awesome board with tons of good information, and not some forum to go back and forth. I think all we were trying to say is next time as much as it sucks to do it, just get the warranty replacement. Enjoy your new phone.
im not sure if you received your replacement yet. But when you send your old phone into the warranty department they will check to see if the phone has been opened. The first thing they can check is the screws themselves they will show tampering. But also just when you think you have pulled one over on them you. you get a letter in the mail saying they are billing your account $450 due to your physical damage and tampering with the phone. They wont send your old phone back and you will get your next att bill and it will be $450 dollars higher than you expected. im not saying this will happen but i would watch out for this.
and if you really want to cheat warranty exchange. Do a warranty replacement wait a couple of days after the phone gets there and then call them up and say were is my phone. There policy is to ship out another right away. They will ask some questions but nothing serious and yes will ship out another phone right away. I know this not because i have done it but because i worked for att for 2 years in both csr and tech support.
well thanks for the info. i did not know there was a difference between warranty exchange and warranty replacement they both sound the same to me. anyways i believe the replacement is the one i did, as they sent me a refurbished phone, not a new one, and if thats what some were thinking i really did not care whether it was new or not, just a replacement phone. as for the screws i couldnt see any tampering evidence, the paint all remains intact. im usually pretty careful when it comes to screwing and unscrewing things. lol lets just hope i dont "Screw" myself haha.
oh and i was chill. i was just finding it funny that i was being directed as a theif by the comments. like i said its one thing for a simple plug but its not like i replaced the speaker or tweaked with something.
is the speaker plug easy to find, i had teh same problem dropped it and i can hear it when i shake it, its loose...but im worried its deeper than i can get to
It seems quite a few people have had questions about getting a replacement phone due to a dust issue on an original rooted phone. Here is my experience:
I called HTC and began the replacement process, but did not mention my phone was rooted. Three days later I received another Nexus One with no battery and no battery cover. My observations on the differences between the old phone and the new phone can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=655966
I removed the battery cover and battery from my original phone and shipped it to HTC in Texas with the packaging and shipping label they supplied.
Approximately 5 days later (today), I received an email from HTC saying "We have completed our diagnostic tests. To review the results and confirm this quotation please visit our service site." I went to the site and there was an option to pay a $196 service fee or to pay $28 for the return shipment of my original phone (without any servicing).
I called up HTC to find out more information. The service representative pulled up my file and immediately asked me if my phone had been rooted. I had little choice at this point so I said my phone had indeed been rooted. The representative told me my options are to:
a) Pay the $196 to replace the motherboard in the phone (does this mean Goolge/HTC also do not know how to relock the bootloader?), keep the replacement phone they sent, and not receive back my original phone. This is the worst case scenario where I pay $196 to get a brand new replacement N1 with no dust issue.
b) Pay the $28 shipping charge to return my old phone, and return the replacement phone. This would bring me back to square one, with having my original rooted phone with the same dust issue.
c) Pay the $28 shipping charge to return my old phone with the same dust issue. Now I would own two full priced N1s, one that is brand new, and a second that still has a dust issue.
Most importantly, and my only hope really for coming out on top, the representative mentioned that I should call back tomorrow before 5PM EST and speak to a supervisor that has the ability to declare that rooting the phone has no impact on the dust manufacturing issue, and I could keep the replacement phone at no charge. The representative said that there is a 50/50 chance the supervisor would do this.
If the supervisor will not honor the warranty and let me keep the replacement phone for no charge, I will just return the replacement phone, get my old phone back, disassemble the phone, clean the dust out and reseal the phone with RTV or something similar.
I will call them up again tomorrow and report back what happens.
It has been difficult to resist rooting the replacement phone.
UPDATE: Through the help of a google employee, I was pointed towards this form: http://google.com/support/android/bin/request.py?contact_type=refund
If you start a ticket with this form, the Google sales team will work to help resolve voided warranty issues from an unlocked bootloader when exchanging or servicing the N1 due to a manufacturing defect.
I called HTC today and they said I was no longer going to be charged $196 because of my unlocked bootloader, and my warranty would be honored. The representative on the phone seemed to have no idea why the ticket status had changed.
I am very pleased with the outcome, and give many thanks to the Google employees that go out of their way to support their loyal customers. It is nice to know that the passion we have for Android is acknowledged and supported by the Google team.
Time to root the new N1.
I wonder if they make a distinction between rooting and an unlocked bootloader?
Because it is possible to un-root. So for other people returning phones, they could un-root, and if they ask if it's rooted, they could say no.

Valid point, but I think the issue is voiding the warranty by unlocking the bootloader.
How do you expect HTC to honor a warranty which you clearly and willingly voided?

Welcome to XDA.
I don't necessarily expect HTC to honor my voided warranty, but I am optimistic that HTC will fix my $580 defective phone from a manufacturing defect that is in no way related to rooting.
Like the representative I spoke with said, there's about a 50/50 chance it will work out. No harm in trying.
Interesting.
I think it's kind of crappy that unlocking the bootloader voids your hardware warranty too. I mean, if your phone has an obvious physical defect like this, completely unrelated to the firmware, then they should honor the warranty.
Comon, HTC, be reasonable! There is dust under the screen and nothing else is bad! That is obviously not related to rooting in any way. $196 to replace the motherboard? Yeah right! More like press a button on the computer and relock it.
i don't know if he is still around here anymore, but swetland works for google, and when the n1 came out, he was going to be an advocate for us, and if you were having obvious manufacturing defects (such as dust under the screen), he could pull strings to get it fixed for you.
i say pm him, and see if you get a response.

They should but in the real world they don't have to and more than likely wont. Most people don't, but if you read the literature that comes with electronic devices you'll see why they do what they do as far as warranties go.
And this is why I keep saying repeatedly, stop sending your device back people. A few specs of dust isn't worth the hassle. Just sent it back at 364 days. THEN it's worth it.

The only way it'd be worth it to send it back is when you have so much dust you can't even COUNT the specs.

No, dust is really annoying and is frustrating to have considering the price we paid for this thing. The more HTC has to refurbish, the more they learn their lesson and make sure that no dust gets in.

Here in the US, a warranty termination because of a any fine print violation will not stand up in court unless the warranty violation had a direct impact on a defect in question. Automakers have tried that kind of bologna with aftermarket parts, and they've failed. They can't refuse to honor a warranty just because a car was serviced by others, and they can't refuse to warranty an alternator because someone put on an aftermarket exhaust system, unless they can prove that those actions had a direct impact on the defect.
This does not mean HTC is obligated to bail someone out who has bricked their phone, but hardware issues like dust under the digitizer or faulty microphones or the like clearly can't be tied to unlocking the bootloader. I expect HTC or any other company to honor the laws wherever their products are marketed, and it seems that's exactly what they are doing.
I hope this ends your confusion, and really wish more slack was allowed by some for people who unlock the boot loader and then end up with hardware issues requiring service.

I'm really suspicious about the rooting voiding your warranty. I mean you paid damn near 577 for the device..well i know I Did... Why can't you root your own ****..its known as a google dev phone if I'm wrong correct me..But isn't android open source? why can't we try and help it be a better Operating system? They want us to sit on 2.1 until google puts something out? Why not dev with our phones and help google help itself? I mean damn... I could see if you were under a contract with tmobile..but I bought my phone brand new unlocked for the full price give me some damn use of my phone..
Sorry mods, I didnt know where else to put this. Feel free to move it if this isn't a good place.
Ok, So I sent my phone in for repair (a backlight problem) and they sent it back after 2 weeks, and its still exactly the same.
So Ive sent it back again.
But in all honesty, Im not happy paying my monthly bill for a phone Ive not been using.
So do I have the right to demand a refund/not paying next month?
Also, Can I demand a brand new phone if it comes back broken again this time?
thanks guys

Your signature says that you're running a custom ROM. If that's true then I wouldn't expect that you have any rights because you will have voided the warranty. What did they tell you when the phone was returned last time?

They said they couldn't find a problem at all with the phone. They re-flashed the software for me So i guess its a hardwear problem with the acctual phone....

OK. I think the first step will be for you to get HTC to agree that there's a problem with the phone. Until that happens you don't really have a leg to stand on because the phone company will simply argue that you're not owed a refund because there's no problem with the phone (and I think they'd be right to say that).
Once you've proven that the phone is faulty you may be able to contact the phone company and ask for a refund. Unfortunately I don't know exactly what your rights are in this case but it seems reasonable that you shouldn't have to pay for the time when you were unable to use your contract phone. Maybe someone with a bit more expertise can jump in and help here.
The main point though is that you need to prove that you have a problem before you can ask for your money back and I don't think you've managed to do that just yet.
but your still using the SIM right?
Can you take it to their high street shop and demo them the fault? Does the backlight come on at all?

then i'd argue with them till im blue in the face! i dont think you should be paying for a service you cannot use. at the very least they should knock it off your next bill or credit you what you've paid already...
id politely argue the point that you cant use your sim without a working handset and since the one they provided is faulty they either have to provide a backup handset whilst yours is being repaired or credit your account.
not sure how it would all work out but its worth a go.
as for the other stuff... if they keep sending it back saying there isnt a problem then you need to be able to prove that there is.
My experience...
My HD2 is off for repair, and as I haven't got insurance which would have entitled me to a loan hand set, VF UK have credited me with a month’s worth of my line rental. Used that to buy a crappy PAYG Nokia and popped my contract SIM in to it. It has £10 of calls on the PAYG SIM I can keep 'in case of emergency, which means I am actually only £10 down.
in the uk if you return something 3 times for the same fault and on the third occassion it still has the same fault you have the law on your side which i believe states they have not made reasonable effort to resolve the problem and they have to replace the device with the same model or another of equal value.
i had a similar thing with vodafone and they ended up giving me a 3gs for my broken hd2 as they had no hd2's or desires in stock.
vodafone didn't charge me for the 2 months it took to send it in and out for repair as i was being inconvenienced through no fault of my own.
on your repair notes it should state the fault you sent it in for each time. phone trading standards or at least threaten to if they don't sort it out

That's what they've told me on '3 strikes and you're out', but also that have some HD2's in reserve for situations like this...
There must be a way for you to put your plan on hold so you don't pay the plan since you are not using it... all the matter of coordination and loosing time

i had a similar thing with vodafone and they ended up giving me a 3gs for my broken hd2 as they had no hd2's or desires in stock.
vodafone didn't charge me for the 2 months it took to send it in and out for repair as i was being inconvenienced through no fault of my own.
on your repair notes it should state the fault you sent it in for each time. phone trading standards or at least threaten to if they don't sort it out

My aunt sent my mom a Samsung Vibrant for her birthday, however the speaker crackles. I already have a Vibrant myself, if I were to call T-Mobile and say that the speaker on my phone is busted, and send back the phone that my aunt sent instead of mine, would I encounter any troubles? Does TMo cross reference the serial or IMEI?
I'm sure they will. It is one of the questions they ask you when doing a warranty replacement. They also ask for SW version and something else by typing something in the dialer.
You really shouldn't try to rip off t-mobile, but if you were to put your sim in the phone with the bad speaker than after a week or two that phones imei will be registered to your account . Then you won't have any issues sending it in. But again you really should not be trying to rip off T-Mobile.

Do this
They may charge you of theft unless if your aunt still has reciept and stuff
It doesn't matter how you got the phone as long as it was not stolen. The factory warranty goes to the product not the person, regardless of TMO or ATT might say, if it crackles, likely not a blown speaker but a poor connection or some bit of steel causing intermittent grounding,
Either way, if it is still under warranty (which it would be) then you can get the replacement.

this sounds about right. I called Samsung today to de-register my Vibrant since I plan to sell it and the rep asks me, "oh so you want to transfer the warranty?" I said no, I just want my info removed from the phone so when person I sell it to tries to register or activate you dont think its stolen. She then said, "whoever gets it can just call and have warranty transferred." I am guessing as long as phone is not reported stolen and sim of person asking for some kind of service or warranty has been active in the phone long enough that things are good.
Yea, I got a cracked screen vib to test with off ebay, just to see I registered it on sammy website, since its not a factory defect they will still repair it for me for about $70 shipped, parts labor and tax included in that number. I can easily see them warranty replacing that speaker

So if I call TMobile, explain the situation, they will do a warranty replacement on the phone even though my aunt is the original owner?

I dont know about that, but it sounds like samsung would still honor the warranty, I can see tmobile giving you a hard time, but cant hurt to try

Hi All,
I need to ask you all something and I used to go on this a while ago for my Galaxy phone but now I have a big problem with my new phone LG G3. Here goes:
Had my G3 for about 8 months, got it the day it came out for Verizon. Recently started noticing i was no longer able to long press icons, long press snapchats, and use the screen in various ways. Called LG since its under warranty they said send it in and theyll repair it.
Went and used their label and put into an box and sent it. One week later they received it and very quickly a package was sent out to me, even seemed like they didnt receive the package before the new one was sent. Well, by week 2 they sent back the WRONG PHONE. It was an optimus phone. Here's where it gets bad.
Calling their customer support and being on hold for very long periods of time, they said multiple times that I had in fact gotten the correct phone and me telling them no its not, they finally realized and said oh ok you received the wrong phone. They then told me even my other phone would be returned to me 'as is' because of 'Liquid Damage'. This is an all out lie, they sent me a blurry photo(attached) of the innards of a phone with 'corrosion' around the outside saying thats the water damage.
THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE. I took care of my phone like a baby, had a big case, not a scratch or blemish on it it has never been near or in the water ever. I tell them that they say well there's nothing we can do and they will be contacting me about instructions for sending back the wrong phone and how they're going to first find, then get my old broken phone back to me.
I could not believe the mess this has become. Going on 3 weeks now without a phone and even when I do get it back, which will be for weeks at this rate, itll still come back broken and with the lie that I had water damage.
Even funnier (more suspicious) the phone that they sent me also says 'Sent back unrepairable -- liquid damage'. So they did it to this guy, and me, and it all seems a bit too easy for them to just get phones and send them back saying its liquid damage and making it up so they dont repair them.
Going to be a month without a phone and even when I do get it back its still broken, what should I do? Guess just go to my insurance and get it replaced, which means I need to pay the deductable and who knows the hurdles going that route..great..
Anything you guys think I can do? This is a very disappointing and frustrating situation which Im sure Im not alone in.. Thanks

I would suggest you take this issue to social media. Tweet them and post your experience on reddit. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.
I tried for 2 weeks to send my G3 back due to ghosting i was seeing on the screen, after 7 different calls and chats to customer service about my shipping label that they INSISTED they had emailed me (which to this day i still have not received) i simply gave up. From the sounds of your story it sounds like it was maybe for the better i never sent it in!!! Love the product, but VERY unimpressed with customer service.

YES. I guess they lied to you and me my friend. I bit the bullet paid $99 through insurance and my new phone will be here today. Just end this nightmare! LOL
I posted this same story on a bunch of forums, I think I will take to social media also. They need to be called out on lies and terrible, awful, dirty tricks customer service!!
Great phone though thats why its so disappointing. Thanks for the replys guys!!
AFAIK you could let an authorized LG workshop analyse the problem and get it fixed and eventually sue LG for breaking the local and international guarantee laws. First things first: menace to do this. Then make the action (because you are sure you never put water or vapor on your phone, you're in right).
If I were you the first thing is to notify consumer association (here in Croatia we have consumer association which warns a various state institutions about consumer problems). Then I would go straight to the service workshop where you sent your device without notice of your arrival no matter how much far is that from your town and force them to open your device infront of you and to show damage which is caused by some liquid. Take the photo with you printed in color which you received from them as evidence and compare it with your device's mainboard. Of course try to be nice and patient but resolute in your intention and with no retreat without solution in your favor. If they decline your request to replace device for a new one then tell them that you'll report whole case to state institutions which have jurisdiction of such matters and do not forget to take your device with you except if they willing to give you a confirmation which is signed and stamped which confirms that you left them your LG G3. If you do that I believe that you will get a new device very soon with apology. Trust me and be firm in your intention! Good luck!
