This is happening a couple of time per day. When I try to answer a call, everything freezes. The display will be stuck at the incoming call screen.
It will not soft reboot. I have to pull the battery. Today, it answered the call and switched to speaker(my bluetooth was connected), I could hear the caller but he could not hear me.The screen still showed an incoming call.No response from any buttons.
I can post logcat and bugreport if needed.
I'm running the latest radio and CM build.
Any ideas?
Most of the issues I have ever had with android usually stem from a poorly written program. Try uninstalling some recent programs you have installed.
my phone(tmo g2,rooted running extrahotsauce rom) is flashing the green and orange lights as well now that its charging...the battery was fine and i was doing a backup using clockword mod recovery and once that occured i rebooted, then rebooted again into recovery and from then on the phone hasn't turned back on. i put it on charge at first and no light, left it on for a bit and now there's green and orange led lights blinking continuosly, any one know the cause? and more important, the solution? any help would be much appreciated, thanks

I have not experienced this problem until last week. The MDA2 just hangs in between tasks, when idle, or when in suspend mode, but I can still see the green signal led blinking. I can actually call the phone but don't hear it ringing nor can answer it. What I have discovered is that it last a bit longer if I keep the phone application on the foreground. But still it will hang eventually. :x
I tried to hard reset it and use factory defaults but same thing happens, I even tried some other SIM cards, same results, I even tried using it without any SD memory... same thing....
Any ideas?
Somebody recommend me to install a newer firmware, but how come it was working fine and all of a sudden it developed this problem? I don't belive the problem is that it's a Microsoft OS, since even a hard reset does not clear the problem... :?:
Thanks!
Rayan
It all started when I upgraded to a new rom. So the first thing I did was ditch the rom and install a new rom. I was running Black 3.0.1 and now updated to Black Satin.
The time it takes to lock up seems to very. I have had times where I could leave it for 4hrs and then hit the power button and it comes to life, other times I can have it sit for 30mins and hit the power button only to find it won't wake up. When it is in its locked up state, it won't even receive calls. It just sits there with the top right led blinking green. Its really getting frustrating.
In order to get it to come back I have to push the reset button on the bottom of the phone with my stylus.
I have been reading as many "lock up" threads as I can on the forum and so far it seems that most are to do with Push Mail. Which I don't use.
Any suggestions will be much appreciated.
I dont know if its a ROM issue as my does this sometimes (dont know about incoming calls as i dont get that many anyway) I am on the stock T-Mobile rom
I dont use push mail either
doesn't happen much to me (now i said i bet it does it all the time )
I think it seems to do it when i havnt soft restarted it for a while, so it could be that the lock up is due to memory or something and it just needs a soft reset to clear it down
I also have this problem, only a soft reset makes the phone respond. This happens sometimes when the phone has only been reset an hour previously.
It also happened once during the night and caused my alarm to not go off, so I only made it to the office for 10:30!!
Did you guys find a solution or did the problem just go away?
bump
got the same problem.
For me the problem went away only after I installed a new radio and new rom. I honestly don't know what was causing the problem. But it went away and I am happy. There might have been an issue with an installed app, but I never did find any app that directly caused the issue.
Hi People. Firstly I want to say a big "Thank You" to this board. Because of this place I have Android running very stably on my HD2.
Now to my question...
When I stick a new build on my SD card, the notification LED seems to work fine when I have just installed the build, but after a reboot the LED kinda goes wierd. It's like it wants to work, but isn't quite. i.e. If I lock the screen I see the LED blink once, then it stops. Then if I power up the scree again I get another blink.
But I know it does work fine straight after a build gets initially installed.
Anyone got any ideas what might be able to fix that?
(Using VBNDroid WM ROM, JDMS Stock PPP Android ROM, MDJ S4 Kernel)
I had the same problem, but have found a reliable (but not practical) way around it. I found that if on each reboot I have my phone connected to a charger or computer USB, the LED's will work fine. If not, then sometimes they will and sometimes not. I have tested this over the past four days with consistent results. If anyone can try it and comment it will be appreciated.
Thanks
Ah.... Interesting.
I kinda noticed the same thing, but wasn't sure if I was just imagining it or not!
So when you power on your phone, you just have it connected to power? Then once you disconnect your notification LED still works yeah?

Exactly!
I've just tried this, and it seems to work.
Powered down my phone with Notification LED not working correctly. Plugged in the power, booted up, unplugged power = notification LED now seems to be working.
I'll do some more testing too, but so far so good.
well...i did the same thing..works but..i have one problem!the led blinks ok for each notification missed call or receiving message..but it blinks only once and then dissapears..is there any point so i can make it work like in windows mobile where there it blinks every 4 seconds????thanks..
Or, the notification light gets 'stuck' on, and isn't consistent? I.e. works OK for a moment, text message gives a flashing red... then green gets stuck on? Then I get another text and red gets stuck on?
Notification misbehaviour!
I have hadthis problem since I upgradedfrom at&t 1.6.. this problem manifests regardless of what rom iam running..
Basically, it happens after I use (either receive or make a call) the phone... if you bring the phone close to your face to activate the proximity sensor and turn off the screen, the screen never comes back on. No matter what I do, can't use the device after that... I know the device itself is NOT frozen because if the other part hangs up... I can still hear the notifications for email or other events and even hear the ringtone if someone calls... I just can't do anything about it because the screen stays dark and in responsive..
I went from at&t 1.6 with 31 baseband and firmware to 305 using QDL from sreakdroid..I immediately noticed the issue so thought I would upgrade to the official 318 but still had the same issue... I then went to Steve's 1.5.1 but still the same behavior... I have done data wipes and repeated the 305-318-1.5.1 upgrades with the issue present in all roms. . At this point Iam frustrated as the device cannot be used past the first phonecall..
Any ideas or help will be appreciated.
Try to recalibrate your screen bro.
Just did thescreen calibration... didn't solve the problemm... the fact that the problem happens only after/during a phone call leads me to blueberry somethingelse is causing it... there are no other issues with the screen prior to a phone call... plus I would think that I should be able to wake up the screen with the power button and even that doesn't work???
Is there a way to go back to US ATT 31 rom?
Not Android Development
Moving to General
Hi this is my first post on the forum.I"ve searched for similar issues, but I didn"t find anything.I bought a HD2 last month and installed various android ROM"s,everything fine since last week. Now my HD2 have this issue:
-I make a phone call and after 2 seconds the screen goes black and freeze. If I want to activate the loud speaker I can"t because screen is black and not responding.I can have the conversation,I can close the conversation from power button, but screen remains black and non responsive. When I close a conversation the phone remains nonresponsive for 5-10 minutes, and after that everything goes to normal.
-I have this issue since last week, until then every android rom that I"ve installed worked just fine.
Now I have on phone HD2_Core_Droid_Desire_HD_V1.5_Release_Version
and I"m having this problem with every Rom that I"ve installed since last week
I start thinking that it"s a harware problem,I don"t know...
Is anybody else who experience this problem?
Thank you very much, and excuse my poor english.I"m a Romanian living in Spain
Nobody have this problem or a fix?I"ve tryed everything with different radios and ROMs...
strange. i don't have that problem.
I"ve just installed official vodafone WM 6.5 ROM for spain and I have "almost" the same issue:
-during call screen goes black and no way to open it.
-the difference is that when I hang up screen goes on instantly and no freeze.
What is that,hardware malfunction?
sounds like a hardware issue
I hope not...
I"ve noticed that if I enable the loud speaker in the first 2 seconds(before screen goes black),the phone is not freezing, and no black screen, everything just work fine as it should.
I"m out of ideas...
Edit:I am now on [CWR-CLEAN] BOYPPC-SHIFTPDA GINGER HoneyComB V11 (30.Mar).
I see some people on this forum that have the same problem too.Nobody have a solution still?
Try an app from the Android market called 'Call Light'. It's supposed to keep your screen lit up at all times during calls, but what it has done for me is that when in a call, the screen still goes black when the phone is to my ear, but as soon as I take the phone away from my head, the screen lights up again instantly.
I had almost the same probkem as you do before using this app, except that as soon as the call was over, everything was back to normal (didn't stay black for the 5-10 mins after calls) now all is ok for me.
It might not work for you, but it's definitely worth a shot.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
I have same problem, too.
But i never cannot unlock my phone, so i cannot install that app, too

Yeah,I"ve already do that but not works for me.Sometimes (few times),phone app run just fine but many times I got that annoyng black screen. To get back to normal I have to do a reboot or to make a call from another phone to my hd2,then screen comes back.I don"t have this issue with incoming calls, only with outgoing calls(when I call somebody). When I make a call I have to activate loud speaker in the first 2 seconds to evitate black screen issue,in that way screen stays on during call and after I hang up I have no freeze problem.
I have "call light" installed, unchecked proximyty sensor in menu and checkedd the option that makes the screen stay on longer during conversation.
I am on BOYPPC-SHIFTPDA DESIRE HD GLass A2SD V12 (23.Apr)

Note that if you plug your cable to pc the phone will unfreez and will be laggy for secounds, did you try to change your SD card?
Solution
Everything difficult-is easier)
Just clean dust on the sreen, where sensor is situated.
ANd choose a ROM with Tytungs kernel 12.4v3 (with solved libsound issue) or a SENSE based ROM
