Phone application screen freeze with android ROM"s - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hi this is my first post on the forum.I"ve searched for similar issues, but I didn"t find anything.I bought a HD2 last month and installed various android ROM"s,everything fine since last week. Now my HD2 have this issue:
-I make a phone call and after 2 seconds the screen goes black and freeze. If I want to activate the loud speaker I can"t because screen is black and not responding.I can have the conversation,I can close the conversation from power button, but screen remains black and non responsive. When I close a conversation the phone remains nonresponsive for 5-10 minutes, and after that everything goes to normal.
-I have this issue since last week, until then every android rom that I"ve installed worked just fine.
Now I have on phone HD2_Core_Droid_Desire_HD_V1.5_Release_Version
and I"m having this problem with every Rom that I"ve installed since last week
I start thinking that it"s a harware problem,I don"t know...
Is anybody else who experience this problem?
Thank you very much, and excuse my poor english.I"m a Romanian living in Spain

Nobody have this problem or a fix?I"ve tryed everything with different radios and ROMs...

strange. i don't have that problem.

I"ve just installed official vodafone WM 6.5 ROM for spain and I have "almost" the same issue:
-during call screen goes black and no way to open it.
-the difference is that when I hang up screen goes on instantly and no freeze.
What is that,hardware malfunction?

sounds like a hardware issue

I hope not...
I"ve noticed that if I enable the loud speaker in the first 2 seconds(before screen goes black),the phone is not freezing, and no black screen, everything just work fine as it should.
I"m out of ideas...
Edit:I am now on [CWR-CLEAN] BOYPPC-SHIFTPDA GINGER HoneyComB V11 (30.Mar).

I see some people on this forum that have the same problem too.Nobody have a solution still?

Try an app from the Android market called 'Call Light'. It's supposed to keep your screen lit up at all times during calls, but what it has done for me is that when in a call, the screen still goes black when the phone is to my ear, but as soon as I take the phone away from my head, the screen lights up again instantly.
I had almost the same probkem as you do before using this app, except that as soon as the call was over, everything was back to normal (didn't stay black for the 5-10 mins after calls) now all is ok for me.
It might not work for you, but it's definitely worth a shot.

I have same problem, too.
But i never cannot unlock my phone, so i cannot install that app, too

Yeah,I"ve already do that but not works for me.Sometimes (few times),phone app run just fine but many times I got that annoyng black screen. To get back to normal I have to do a reboot or to make a call from another phone to my hd2,then screen comes back.I don"t have this issue with incoming calls, only with outgoing calls(when I call somebody). When I make a call I have to activate loud speaker in the first 2 seconds to evitate black screen issue,in that way screen stays on during call and after I hang up I have no freeze problem.
I have "call light" installed, unchecked proximyty sensor in menu and checkedd the option that makes the screen stay on longer during conversation.
I am on BOYPPC-SHIFTPDA DESIRE HD GLass A2SD V12 (23.Apr)
kernel GL_V11
Radio 2.15.50.14
I am flashing the ROMs with CWR zip method always with ROM proper recovery.

HELP...... Stilll cannot use my HD2

BUMP........

Is this problem got solved yet?
Note that if you plug your cable to pc the phone will unfreez and will be laggy for secounds, did you try to change your SD card?

Solution
Everything difficult-is easier)
Just clean dust on the sreen, where sensor is situated.

ANd choose a ROM with Tytungs kernel 12.4v3 (with solved libsound issue) or a SENSE based ROM

Sense Keeps Crashing

im wondering if its just me..
most times, when the phone comes out of sleep, after i slide to unlock, it just hangs. i dont even get to see the clock, sometimes, it just shows a black screen, and sometimes, all i see is the lock screen..stuck.
i can push the start button, and it would work as normal, but i cant go home.. and everything else related to sense...music, settings, message, ..just crashes.
i always have to reboot phone to get it back to normal.
could there be something making it crash? ..and does it happen to anyone else?
yes it happens to me from time to time. sometime HD2 just lies on my desk and 'fall asleep'... cannot turn on the screen though all the buttons light up.
when this happens i have to call from my HD to turn HD2 on and when it's on, it's unstable, and i have to reboot it.
same problem
I have exactly the same problem. it just crashes for no reason. sometimes when WiFi is on. sometimes after I synchronize. sometimes if only plugged out of the charger.
it was in version 1.48 and kept happening even after I upgraded to 1.66
I hope this has a fix or something or atleast a way to restart sense because the Windows button works, phone works, except the volume, the turn off and the settings in the start menu..
help!
thank you in advance.
Same problem here. Freezes at the lock screen and the lights appear from the buttons. Occurring with worrying frequency now. Twice in the last three days. Any ideas?
folks, do report your issues here .. i have a feeling that this is a known hardware issue by HTC and they are just keeping veru quiet about this.

It is related to the g-sensor being on ,aka auto rotate screen, this may make your phone unable to go on from sleep, just try to press the unlock button a few times and it should wake-up . Sometimes the build have some issues, like HyperDroid, If you left it on Idle for long time it will get warm and you have to remove batt to boot again.
Edit ::
Yes it is a common issue, avoid it by using DesireZ/HD builds ( no camera)
I only had these problems with DarkStone builds. All others seem to work fine. His build quality has been in the crapper, lately.

G-Sensor and call problems

Well first of all I love Android, but I have some problems. The first problem I have is the G-Sensor, it used to work, but suddenly it stopped working properly. Now when I want to rotate the screen I have to hold it the way I want it to turn for 20 seconds, is there a solution to this problem?
Now my second and most important problem is calling. I have multiple problems with it. One of them is when I'm being called while the phone is in lockscreen I try answering it but I have to wait ten seconds before it actually answers, mostly the caller is already connected to my voicemail. My second problem is the End Call button when is press it, it says ended but I also have to wait ten seconds before it actually ends the call. Does anyone have the solution to these problems?
For further information, I use Froyostone 3.2. And sorry for my poor English.
Could anyone please help me, sorry for the bump?
Also I notice that my hardware buttons light up randomly.
I also have the same problem. Well at least with the g sensor. Running android 2.2 the problem with my g senor is whenever I flip messages they will not flip back. (along with anything else that does flip) I've done the re-calibration on the phone and this is what happens.. x axis is fine y axis either stays all the way up or goes all the way down. When I start the calibration the y and x axis both go to the middle but after when calibration is done the y axis goes right back up or right back down.
Thanks in advance if any one can help.
The same thing happens to me when I'm trying to calibrate it. Also have you tried holding your device for 10-20 seconds the way you want to turn it? This solves the problem for me, but I would like it to happen a little faster.
I calibrated the G-sensor when I first put on Android, bad mistake, the Bubble just stayed at the top and nothing rotated properly. The Sensor worked fine in WinMo so I guessed I'd screwed it up.
Since read somewhere on here that you shouldn't Calibrate it in Android.
Had to reinstall Android fresh to get it to work again, but its been working fine since.
Was on froyostone 3.1, when I reinstated upgraded to 3.2, all is great

Okay that could be the solution. Do you also know if I need to put a new data image on it. I would like to keep my old one, but I thinks the problem lies there or doesn't it?
You might be able to calibrate your G-sensor in Android. Click the calibrate button and place your phone screen down on a flat surface. For some reason, calibrating only seems to be working when you face your phone screen down. It did the trick for me, fixed the offset and it's working just fine now.

I tried changing the data image from 3.1 to 3.2 but the g-sensor was the same, i just used Titanium Pro to backup the data i wanted to keep and reinstalled.
Try the Phone on its screen re-calibrate as suggested, ive read that may work as Roeltjuh suggested, but that was after i had reinstalled
That seem to do the trick, thank you!
Does anyone have the solution to my other problems? Also I've noticed a new problem, sometimes my WiFi won't turn on till I reboot. In the settings menu it says shutting down WiFi. But its already been shut down, and because of the loading it takes to shut down wifi, I can't turn it back on and my data connection says that it will be turned on when my WiFi is shut down. So I always have to reboot.
Sorry for all the questions, but I believe some of them can be fixed and they're too annoying to ignore. And again sorry for my poor English.

[Q] unresponsive screen after upgrade

I have hadthis problem since I upgradedfrom at&t 1.6.. this problem manifests regardless of what rom iam running..
Basically, it happens after I use (either receive or make a call) the phone... if you bring the phone close to your face to activate the proximity sensor and turn off the screen, the screen never comes back on. No matter what I do, can't use the device after that... I know the device itself is NOT frozen because if the other part hangs up... I can still hear the notifications for email or other events and even hear the ringtone if someone calls... I just can't do anything about it because the screen stays dark and in responsive..
I went from at&t 1.6 with 31 baseband and firmware to 305 using QDL from sreakdroid..I immediately noticed the issue so thought I would upgrade to the official 318 but still had the same issue... I then went to Steve's 1.5.1 but still the same behavior... I have done data wipes and repeated the 305-318-1.5.1 upgrades with the issue present in all roms. . At this point Iam frustrated as the device cannot be used past the first phonecall..
Any ideas or help will be appreciated.
Try to recalibrate your screen bro.
Just did thescreen calibration... didn't solve the problemm... the fact that the problem happens only after/during a phone call leads me to blueberry somethingelse is causing it... there are no other issues with the screen prior to a phone call... plus I would think that I should be able to wake up the screen with the power button and even that doesn't work???
Is there a way to go back to US ATT 31 rom?

Moving to General

My phone just went haywire

This is weird my phone totally went haywire for about 30 seconds. It started playing my ringtone so I thought someone was calling me. When I looked at the phone, it had the standard lock screen. I unlocked it and the phone showed a fuzzy black and white screen. Then a random yellow page, I also noticed the gps started locating me, around the same time, navigation appeared saying that I need a licence to use navigation. After all that, the phone went back to normal. What happened?
It's been happening all night. I had to put my phone on silent.

Did you ever find out the problem?
IDK about the Fuzzy black/yellow screen, but the ringing and GPS Location could be caused by someone having access to your HTCSense or other phone locating app (Such as lookout, bitdefender) account.
Interesting!, Have You found the problem or solution for it? Dont know about you but the last time my Phone did Something like that when i was playing 9mm game, listening to music and some1 calling me at the same time.
I had this a couple of times
ringtone kept playing and car mode kept launching, very weird, I didnt do anything, no one was calling. the phone was not docked or plugged in.
finally it was gone after I changed the ringtone.
Awfully strange I remember this happened to me when voice command came on whilst the phone was in my pocket.

This isn't normal operating behaviour...I think that if these sort of things happen the ROM is most likely corrupt and should be reflashed or replaced with another.
Clean your USB-port, I had the exact same thing (especially with the car mode), cleaned the USB-port with a dentists tool and it dissapeared (along with a suprisingly large ammount of pocket lint)
this is my proplem too , but only when i am charging my phone , it opens contacts and call them while i am sleepnig , and turn on bluetooth , now i make my pho offline while on charge , but i think it may be charger proplem as it isnt the original one , it is charger of blackberry , thats what i have
