Hi People. Firstly I want to say a big "Thank You" to this board. Because of this place I have Android running very stably on my HD2.
Now to my question...
When I stick a new build on my SD card, the notification LED seems to work fine when I have just installed the build, but after a reboot the LED kinda goes wierd. It's like it wants to work, but isn't quite. i.e. If I lock the screen I see the LED blink once, then it stops. Then if I power up the scree again I get another blink.
But I know it does work fine straight after a build gets initially installed.
Anyone got any ideas what might be able to fix that?
(Using VBNDroid WM ROM, JDMS Stock PPP Android ROM, MDJ S4 Kernel)
I had the same problem, but have found a reliable (but not practical) way around it. I found that if on each reboot I have my phone connected to a charger or computer USB, the LED's will work fine. If not, then sometimes they will and sometimes not. I have tested this over the past four days with consistent results. If anyone can try it and comment it will be appreciated.
Thanks
Ah.... Interesting.
I kinda noticed the same thing, but wasn't sure if I was just imagining it or not!
So when you power on your phone, you just have it connected to power? Then once you disconnect your notification LED still works yeah?

Exactly!
I've just tried this, and it seems to work.
Powered down my phone with Notification LED not working correctly. Plugged in the power, booted up, unplugged power = notification LED now seems to be working.
I'll do some more testing too, but so far so good.
well...i did the same thing..works but..i have one problem!the led blinks ok for each notification missed call or receiving message..but it blinks only once and then dissapears..is there any point so i can make it work like in windows mobile where there it blinks every 4 seconds????thanks..
Or, the notification light gets 'stuck' on, and isn't consistent? I.e. works OK for a moment, text message gives a flashing red... then green gets stuck on? Then I get another text and red gets stuck on?
Notification misbehaviour!

alright now after i just posted that it isnt blinking anymore, only when i have a incoming call it will blink orange and while charging. is there any known problems with haveing this program on the phone such as battery issues or freeze ups. any input would help thanks.
This is happening a couple of time per day. When I try to answer a call, everything freezes. The display will be stuck at the incoming call screen.
It will not soft reboot. I have to pull the battery. Today, it answered the call and switched to speaker(my bluetooth was connected), I could hear the caller but he could not hear me.The screen still showed an incoming call.No response from any buttons.
I can post logcat and bugreport if needed.
I'm running the latest radio and CM build.
Any ideas?
Most of the issues I have ever had with android usually stem from a poorly written program. Try uninstalling some recent programs you have installed.
my phone(tmo g2,rooted running extrahotsauce rom) is flashing the green and orange lights as well now that its charging...the battery was fine and i was doing a backup using clockword mod recovery and once that occured i rebooted, then rebooted again into recovery and from then on the phone hasn't turned back on. i put it on charge at first and no light, left it on for a bit and now there's green and orange led lights blinking continuosly, any one know the cause? and more important, the solution? any help would be much appreciated, thanks
wrong thread,sorry
When I hit the power button to shut the screen off, it flashes brightly before it goes off.
Wondering if this is a Nook Color thing in general, or just a CM7 thing. Is this related to the fact that the screen animation doesn't work on CM7 when using the current kernel? I heard that Dalingrin had the screen animation working in the early test kernel and wondered if this got rid of the screen flash as well.
FWIW, mine flashes also. I haven't researched the cause, though.
CM7.0.2 from SD, when I tap the power button, it fades over about half a second. No flash, although occasionally there's a flicker in the middle of the fade. Power on happens much quicker, but there is a bit of fade-in.
I did enable on and off animations, even though I didn't think they were supposed to work yet.
this is a CM7 thing. its a power off and on animation. if you dont like it you can turn it off in settings. personally i like it. it reminds me of the old CRT screens.

More specifically it's a 2.3 thing - but I think the problem is that it doesn't work the same as on other standard resolution screens so it just ends up 'flashing' rather than doing a fancy animation. Your solution is correct though.
Interesting. The on/off animations are off by default in the Encore build. I enabled them in the settings and still had the flash (as one would expect). However, once I disabled them again everything was fine. I wonder if this is another persistence bug, similar to airplane mode?
My screen flashes whether the screen animations are on or off, though to be fair it doesn't flash every time, definitely more often than not though.
Mine is more of a quick blink rather than an obvious flash. And it isn't consistent.
My screen flashes as well. It just started doing this yesterday and I've been running cm7 off my sd card for about a week with no other problems. Worse, sometimes the screen turns green and stays that way until I hit the N button. Any idea what this means and possibly how to fix it? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Which version of CM7 are you running? I haven't seen the flash or the green screen since I switched from 7.0.2 to nightly 86. Maybe it's coincidence, but it looks like the flash issue has been fixed.
(The power button does sometimes turn off the screen briefly then turn it right back on again -- hitting the power button a second time always turns it off.)

It's the CM7.0.3 stable version. Maybe I should do an update. I wasn't sure if that was the problem since it had just started doing this. Are you saying you've seen the green screen? Just curious because I can't find anything about it anywhere. Thank you for your response. I'm going to try out the nightly and see if that fixes the problem.
Mine does more of a quick flicker,i think its the screen off/on animation issue on the nook because the animation works fine on my droid incredible cm7

Actually, that's what mine does too. Sometimes there's a flash, but most of the time it's a quick flicker. If it's just the animation then I probably don't need to worry about it. It's just the green screen that worried me...though that only occurred when I kept messing with it. I haven't messed with it the past couple of days so I haven't seen the green screen. Maybe I was causing some kind of error.

Yup, I've seen the green screen. I don't remember what build I was on at the time because I looked at a bunch over a couple of days. It could have been 7.0.3.
Or maybe I messed up something on my nook, and flashing another build corrected it? Either way, I haven't seen it in a few weeks.

That's good that you haven't seen it in a while. And not that I want anyone else to suffer, but I'm glad I wasn't the only one. LOL. Hopefully that means I'll have an easy fix. I haven't seen it in a few days myself, so I'm just going to wait and see what happens. Most likely I'll update to a nightly. Thanks for the responses. Now I'm not worried about it anymore.
Hi,
I need some advice. I bought a Derfy a couple of weeks ago, everything is fine, except the notification led. It lights up blue right when I insert the battaery, and remains active, no matter what I do. If I get a notification, it flashes purple-blue.
I checked the indicator, it seems that no water reached the phone. I cannot find a hardware issue.
Does anyone have an idea, what this thing should be? Not a big problem, but it's irritating.
do You have stock rom or not?
I use stock software now, but tried with many custom builds, the blue led stayed.
I recently got faulty Xperia XA2 in my hands. Everything is brand new and works perfectly, except device shuts down after short period of inactivity.
On stock ROM it shuts down if the screen is turned off for ~10 seconds, or if I do not do anything with it for ~30 seconds, but it stays on if I run video in browser or use a music player.
I managed to flash TWRP and some custom ROMs. While in recovery, device always stays on, no matter if screen is locked or anything else happens, as it should be.
Now it has Lineage 17.1 installed and it shuts down just like on stock ROM.
Another thing to mention is that it doesn't exactly shuts down in those cases: after blackout, device restarts on short press on power button (it should only wake on long press if it is turned off conventionally) and blinks with green LED indicator.
And also, it doesn't turn off while charging
I would appreciate any help with figuring out what causes shutdowns and any ways to solve this. I have a few theories I cannot confirm, but I need more data.

Although I appreciate such straightforward solutions, sadly, it's not an option for me

From what you're describing probably this is the only solution if this happens with stock rom ...
Well, I sent it to service, actually. I tried to check logs via adb logcat, but there were no clues, they just stop going without any pattern. Then I gone lower and checked kernel logs, but they were clear, too, so I suggested it is related to power supply so I stopped and contacted repair service.

If you don't mind, could you tell how the service has treated you?

Well, they decided to change the mainboard (still in progress though, guys are working like morons). I think they would have it covered by warranty, if I had any.
