This is the first time in yonks I've not had a PC suite! LOL.
I've set up My Phone and the Device Centre. I wondered if as in some PC suites like the ones I've used (MPE and LG), there's a way to send SMS via the software when your phone is connected?
I don't mean the desktop sms where charges are incurred via some organisation.
I hope I'm making myself understood
Many thanks.
I use Efficasoft Mobile Express on my Windows Mobile phones. Imagine it works on HD2.
i use the small and easy application mymobiler. verry easy. you can completely control your telephone over wifi or an active sync connection.

Thanks Pete.
That's a beautiful, easy to use piece of software. Just one thing though and I don't know if it's me doing something wrong... when I type a text then press SEND, it just sits in the Outbox. The only way I've found for it to get it to go anywhere it to disconnect then reconnect the phone so it goes over to the handset. I didn't realise it had done this then sat in the Outbox or its equivalent on the handset. Next time I typed a text on the handset and sent it, it send those too, albeit a bit late, lol.
Have you had any problems like this?

I've just Googled for that and found the website. I'll check it out. Thanks Jamie.
That mymobiler is EXACTLY what I wanted, thanks so much!

Is there any useful app which will able me to connect to my ICQ through my QTEK 9100 (except IM+ and Agile Messenger, which doesn't work so well) ?
Mirabilis's ICQ PPC Beta 1 version perhaps?
I've tried it, and it doesn't work.
It gives me an Error msg about the memory.
Something else?

Try Verichat and enable the feature to keep you online even when the device is off once you start it for the 1st time. If you have SMS text messaging, your IM's will come through SMS when your device is off. If you have Verichat running, it will come through TCPCIP internet connection. This has worked great for me so far although I am still evaluating it. Problem with the other apps is that if your phone is off or you lose GPRS/internet connectivity, your IM connection is lost and this happens often. Also, when you receive a voice call, you lose your GPRS connection resulting in your IM session getting dropped. I am only really using the AOL part now so can't say how the ICQ part works.
Suggestion: Download and try it for free as I am doing. Test using another ICQ# on a desktop computer.

Yes of course. WiFi or GPRS connections will enable you to use any instant messaging program that doesn't use text as a way to "IM."

I don't know of any good IRC client as I do not use any but this one has very good reviews on every site I see it on (And magazine reviews) http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=5713
but will i get double charged as this concerned customer wrote:

If you use Agile Messener, or the new Windows Live Mobile, you WILL NOT be charged using text messages. the AOL program (and the protocol, in my opinion) is retarded in it's method of message delivery. The two programs I have mentioned above, send IMs using your data tariff ONLY, unless you are connected to a WiFi access point, in which case, IMs will be sent over that network, rather than the mobile one.
Hope this has re-assured you...
Hello All.
I am currently in the process of developing an application to text mobiles via an activesync connected device.
So no subscriptions, no pay per text etc etc.. Simply uses your phone\tarrif to send messages..
I was considering releasing it on here, and wondered what (if any) would the interest be? Would anyone use it?
It's in the early dev stages at the moment... But I am willing to consider BETA testers.
Would you be willing?
Cheers
MikeSel^
yes i would love to help beta your application. let me know when its ready! cheers!
Sounds good, I had a program to do this with my ancient Nokia.
If you can make it provider independent I would love to test it
I would also love to help beta your application. let me know when its ready! Thanks
Would you be able to make it read text's also, so you could use it like an email client - would be easier for me to send texts whilst at work like this.
I would be willing to test.
I would use this daily as i send alot of text messages!
this would be great, my phone is hooked up to activesync the whole time at work and im constantly sending txts.
I can send texts from MS Outlook 2k7, no activesync or phone hookup needed- but I think you have to have Sprint as a carrier and a hotmail account.
Thanks for your replies..
I will add them all to my development plans, and post up once the beta is ready to test.
This will be completely independant from any carriers as it will simply use your phones carrier to send\receive messages!
If you have any feature requests feel free to reply with them now.
Thanks

Ability to browse inbox/sent items if you can please - so no interaction with the phone is needed.
Also, mark messgaes read/unread and delete.
They are all i would probably use. Cheers for the effort man!
Read/Unread... Good idea!!

KEEP UM COMING!
I use my mobile from desktop by using http://www.jeyo.com/index.asp its not free but works well for me.
I'm very interested in this...
Will you run a client application on the device, or are you directly accessing the data? (RAPI maybe?)
Well the idea stems from Jeyo, I've used it for ages.. But I feel there are parts missing from it. An I like to be able to customize the software to how I want to use it.
I am currently using RAPI with a 'server\client' type thing going on. However I am not sure this will be how it ends up. Depends on how much I can squeese from RAPI.
Looking forward to this mate, should be a good little project for you.
I know what u mean with customizing software that ur using.

OK, how about supporting command line so that i can send txt msgs using my '.net programs'.
Even better would be to expose a sort of API through a dll file.
I would love that.
Ok, Well my proof of concept exe may help you there.. The exe simply reads from a text file. First line phone number, next line message..
So I have an app that creates the text message copies it to the device and then starts the exe. Which sends the exe,,
So if you want to use this, make the text file in the root of the device and run the exe.
I will build in a similar function to the final version.
Thanks
Mike
cool im looking forward to this. it would be really usefull.
im up for this too....will it work with Vista?
mDesktop is wicked for txtin from tour desktop, if you have ur diamond connected the txts pop up on you monitor 2
I need a program so send SMS through my Rhodium with my laptop. I've googled the **** out of it, but I can't find anything that works with WinMo. its all Symbian :/
Anybody know of anything?
Thankss!!!!
my mobiler allows you to view and control the phone on your laptop screen with the keyboard and mouse....???
anything simpler, and maybe free?
you can send text messages through www.t-mobile.com but youll only be able to recieve through your phone. other option is google voice. you can see all your sent and received plus you can spam certain numbers + a whole lot more only thing is that you have to get a new phone number but that can be linked to your cell phone.
other option is totally seperate from your phone. gmail allows you to send and receive text messages through their chat box. you just have to turn on the options through the setting.
last option that i know of is aim.... just add the phone number as a buddy and you can send and receive text messages.

hey everyone
As Canadians may have heard, a carrier finally did something nice for us, Rogers released their One Number service, sort of a poor man's Google Voice, which is great for Canadians as we can't yet access Google Voice.
You get txting/calling from your browser, you can ring multiple phones, etc.
Any experiences of using it so far?
https://www.rogersonenumber.ca
So far it seems OK, however the equivalent Android app doesn't seem to work on the N1. Anybody have luck with this?
I'm running CM7, and when I open the site to get the Android app the Rogers site says
Your phone currently does not suppor tthe Rogers One Number mobile apps. You can continue to use the service from your computer at www.rogersonenumber.ca

Bump? Any Canadians Rogers customers out there?
have you tried changing your user agent?
i have been running this on my samsung captivate.
the app is annoying as it gives constant birthday notifications for all contacts from email, social networks and phone. even after clearing the notification it comes back. a bug im sure will be fixed someday.
the pc app is not bad.. allows you to send receive calls on pc, though it operates through a web portal using web browser. though not needing web page open to receive calls because of try app doenst make it horrible.
even though the app runs on my phone, i am unable to transfer calls from pc to phone as is supposed to do. but does ring my main phone number on both my phone #s (and pc) at same time! *as long as pc client is running, as it uses client to ring all other numbers.
this is super handy when i forget my phone at home but have my 3g enabled netbook in my truck. i am still able to get calls, texts, and contact info wirelessly!
DISCLAIMER!! - using rogers one number on a mobile PC/laptop will give INCORRECT 911 location info unless you are at home or the address you register for one number service!
APK files
Could someone please post the apk files? Thx
I get the same msg from Rogers, but I think it's wrong.
However, it won't let me access the files for it.
So plz post them...thank you
I run CM7 on my N1 and everything seemed to work fine for me. I installed the app so that I could sync my contacts, but then uninstalled it as I didn't see the point of having it on my phone.
I can now use a computer to text and call... but I never really do.

Similar here, uninstalled the onenumber app on phone after sync.
Only tried to transfer call from phone to PC and it works seamlessly (essentially PC client is taking over the call)
Never tried to send a call from PC to phone, or ring multiple numbers of sorts.
Free call from PC using my number is the best use for me (and I think the whole purpose of this service for Rogers is customer retention & offload traffic to the internet) but I am still exploring.
On the side note... I dream the day IP calling will become mainstream and appropriately priced, for better use of the spectrum, etc. (See the article on the Verge "Phoning it in: the dirty secret of IP calling, and how it will change the phone industry")
i was having the same error as op when the One number first came out
APK would be nice if someone has time to post it.
The OSX app is good, I use it to find out about incoming texts. However, if I send out a text via the Rogers One OSX app then my phone does not show it in the "Sent" area.
For those with the Android app running, does sending from your computer get synced up with your phone?
Nope, doesn't sync back to my phone for me.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
