SMS lock

hi, is there an application that I can use so that a password is needed to access my sms folders?

Try 'smart inbox'. Search on the net for link

But it replaces the default/original SMS Inbox and uses its own Inbox.. i just want to stick with the default MS inbox.

You could try this from www.zedsoft.net its called smsorganizer. It has similar features to smart inbox and uses the default inbox. The downside is it doesnt lock the inbox but it does hide any confidential sms you may get :wink:
On a side note does anyone know of any software like this that works with wm5?

does any1 know how this guy makes his program send u a msg telling to the d/l the latest version when you try using the program?
ie i went to start smsorganizer today, and it doesnt start, but comes up with a pop up asking to check the website for the latest version...
how does anevemkovacs get the program to do that ?
does he have access to control the program even though i haven't been online for months...

can i use 4 xdaII

jsut backup(via spb backup) and remove all the msgs of 30, 31 and 1st date and reinstall the application.

Can't find tethered SMS program

A friend of mine installed the program but doesn't remember where he found it and I've looked through the Hermes forum as well.
Please, anybody....I need tethered messaging. It makes conversations so much easier. If a link can be left and any instructions for installation (if needed) it would be very appreciated.

Try searching for "threaded SMS".

Are you thinking something like Jeyo Mobile Extender for Outlook? Or did you mean threaded SMS?

It's tethered SMS. It's set up like an instant message conversation seperated by the contact you're having a conversation with showing both party's text messages.

As I said above, it is called "Threaded SMS". If you insist on calling it "Tethered SMS", you will never find it.

if you're sitting at a computer, why not just fire up an IRC client and talk that way? much cheaper (if you actually pay for text msg's..i dont) and more straightforward..
i just cant see a conversation through sms, especially since there is a character limit on a message. any real convo going on would be interrupted by you having to open the next sms every 160 characters heh..

Threaded SMS doesn't quite work that way, instead of just a character count you get "0 characters 1 message" along the bottom. I've never gone over 320 characters but I assume its possible. the program breaks the message apart into multiple messages. Probably a pain in the ass on the receiving side, but haven't had any complaints, it is rather rare that I compose a text message of said length... for that there's always email.

i just tried that, didn't like it, and now i can't remove it... i uninstalled it but it is still there, and now it fails to install a second time so i can try to uninstall a 2nd time. not to mention that after install i found it erased all my messages... so yeah i guess it is time for second hard reset in 3 days.

i am trying to send a picture message but it always goes to outlook. this is great but what if the person doesnt have a pda phone? with my regular clam phone the send to automatically sent via text. i have looked but cannot seem to find a fix. is there a program that will integrate pics and txts?

go to ppcgeeks.com and do a search for arcsoft; there's instructions for setting this up for use on verizon.

will this work on sprint too? i heard they would be blocking MMS so you must use picture mail.

Are there any apps for the HD2 where you can text over wifi?

I think your best option would be to download AIM for Windows Mobile (it's in the marketplace and it's free) or a IM client that supports AIM. Then go to aim.com to create an account, launch the AIM or IM client program, sign in, add your friend's/family's number (including area code), and talk away! Be sure to tell them who you are since the text message that they will be receive will show your screen name (unless you use your name as your screen name). Hope this helps

I think hes after something that will let you send a SMS over wifi for free, but it will be revieved by the other person as a normal SMS.
However, i might be wrong

AIM let's you send SMS over wifi for free. When the other person receives the text, it will just say "Sent from AIM (Screen name)". Although one problem that comes to mind would be teh fact that the other person won't be able to send him a SMS unless he is logged in? Or it might show up later when he signs in. But it would definitely not notify him automatically that he has an incoming message unless he is logged in.

But I guess AIM is only available for US only and therefore this person must be looking for free services for other countries.

It does work, but I am in fact, looking for a possibly native app like text free plus for the iPhone

No, I aim works for me out of country, but I am in the US.... Sooooooooooo.

Some email accounts support this too. I know I've received SMS from att.net and yahoo.com users and was able to reply via SMS to them. Google also supports SMS via google talk worldwide.

Yeah, I was just googling my question, and I came up with a website that told me to set a mail2web account and use microsoft's direct push to send SMS through wifi.

I feel your pain, I assume you want SMS via Wi-Fi due to no coverage where you are.
unfortunately its not possible in the traditional sense as SMS are transmitted via the network, not the internet. So for an SMS to be delivered (and sent) you need to be connected to your carriers network.
If the HD2 were UMA compliant we wouldn't have any issues, since its not the chances this will ever work are slim/none. Sorry

Use palringo for mobile, it's great!
(supports AIM, MSN, Google Talk, etc. etc. and looks good)

With my provider (T-Mobile USA), I can send SMS from the web. I have to log into My.T-Mobile.com (faq here) which I can do with my phone from any wifi access point. So it's basically accessing the internet on the phone via wifi to send a SMS. On the phone I can make a link to this page which means one click to send a SMS from the web. I can also access this same feature from any computer.
Check with your cell provider and see if they offer something similar.

[Q] How to transfer SMS/MMS to another phone

Hi all,
I have aquestion and couldn't find any reply on this forum: Does anyone know how to configure a transfer of all my incoming SMS/MMS to another number?
FYI: I got a new phone from my job and don't need to carry my Defy+ around with me all the time anymore. I set up a call transfer to receive incoming calls on the new phone but it doesn't work for messages.
What I'm looking to do is basically the same thing as setting up a rule on your e-mail to transfer everything to a second address. If I'm not clear please let me know and I'll explain.

Try any sms forwarding app in play store. for eg. SMS FORWARDER (sorry, n00bs can't post links)

but every fwd msg will cost you...
you could also provide your contacts with the new number
