How to stop ActiveSync from loading all the time??

Hi Forum,
it seems that ActiveSync starts every now and then in the background of my Qtek 9100 even though I didn't connect it to a PC. When checking with GSPocketMagic, ActiveSync is loaded quite often and I need to shut it down manually. Does anybody know why this happens and how I can "force" it to start ONLY when it's needed?? It seems that it's slowing down the device quite a lot...
Thanks in advance,
Andreas
I faced the same problem, till someone explained what was happening... For some reason, Active Sync is set standard to attempting to connect to an Exchange Server to sync OTA every 30 minutes. To get rid of this, do the following: Start Active Sync on your Wizard, then
Select menu -> select configure Server -> Enter just any name for server - select next - select advance - do not change drop down boxes and select next. Then unselect all check boxes - select finish. Then select menu again - select schedule - For both drop down boxes select Manually. Then push OK button. Now ActiveSync will not restart itself.
Thanks Koksie!

again, and some more things...
Hi, sorry that I have to come up with this again, but since I upgraded the ROM to version 2.18.7.7 (german ROM), this workaround doesn't do the job anymore- I don't know why, but the "select schedule" menu isn't highlighted anymore so that I can't click on it for making the last changes. Does anyone experience the same?? Oh, and another thing (maybe wrong topic)- with the new ROM came a new layouted connection manager, it seems that I can't end it with e.g. "magic button" anymore... any suggestions?? Also: this new connection manager doesn't allow to just click on the "active sync"-symbol to enter the active sync menue, any ideas?
greatings,
Andreas
Koksie, do you know how to connect the MDA device to the pc more than just once on a pc....if i re-connect my mda to the pc it stays on connecting and fails...i always have to reboot pc to get it connted??
Hi SBouri, had the same problem (which has been discussed here at least a zillion times- look for "Active sync-problem" etc.), after upgrading to the latest ROM this is solved for me. I used the Qtek-ROM, btw... All in all the thing runs much better, except the issues I stated above. Any suggestions about this???
alrite Trets, i have the same problem, active sync launches all the time on my phone....
i cant be bothered with upgrading rom etc cos i dont wanna take any chances of turning the phone into a brick...
well, I'd say if you'll stick to the right ROM version (in your case O2, isn't it?), there won't be much you could do wrong- and in case, you can still flash back to the old ROM. Search the forum, there are many good advices around there. But anyway, if you're using an older ROM version, try the suggestion posted above by Koksie, this worked for me until I updated the ROM. Good luck!
Oh, almost forgot - anybody out there who could help me with MY problem?!? (Nonono, don't say "let's sit down and talk about this"...)
Greetings,
Andreas
For the ActiveSync problem, try this: Do the same procedure as Koksie had described, but this time, connect your device to ActiveSync, then do the steps in ActiveSync on your PC. The Select Schedule option is still available on the PC side. I tried this after upgrading my ROM, and the problem went away as before.
I also have the problem with Comm Manager not ending after a close. Another situation related to Comm Manager I have encountered after the ROM upgrade, is that I am no longer able to stop WiFi once it has been enabled. Even after turning on Flight Mode, or connecting to ActiveSync, the Comm Manager still shows WiFi active! Only a soft restart will break the death-grip on WiFi.
Hopefully, someone will have some insight on these other issues.

Activesynch will not synch using schedule

Have owned my Exec for about 6 months now and have had this problem for some time.
Activesynch used to work fine but then I have soft reset the device and Activesynch doesn't want to play any more. It was working before the reset and now it has stopped (no errors in the log or anything - it doesn't even try and follow the schedule).
It also won't 'send outgoing items immediately' even though this box is checked too.
The only thing I have found that fixes it is a soft reset - but maybe only 1 in 10 times resetting will that spark the synch to automatically connect and follow the schedule. And of course I have to wait for a while leaving the device in standby before I find out whether that reset has been the lucky one! Of course that all gets lost if I need to soft reset again.
Is there any bit of magic I can work to actually get the device to follow the schedule?????????
It is an o2 branded device but with CORPORATE user profile - none of that o2 GUI installed.
Is there anything else I can do
try deleting the paired computer from Menu -> options on async (ppc). Repair it, and try again...this fixed it for me!

I Need Help Asap

Okay, I have spent the past few days reading different forums trying to figure out what is wrong with my wifi connection. No one can seem to find the problem. If you are up to the challenge, I would LOVE for anyone else's help.
My problem is as follows,
I got my tmobile MSD just a few days ago. I (being dumb) started messing with the connections before I read how to set them up. Now, whenever I attempt to connect through my WIFI it begins to load, then says this page can not be found. What in the world is wrong with it? I do not have a medi/data plan, so I do not want to use anything that will charge me, hince why I am attempting to use wifi. If anyone can tell me how to get this darn thing to work, I will love it! Thanks so much! have a great day
You are not giving the details needed for people to help you.
If you answer the following you may get a solution:
1) What WiFi network / hotspot are you trying to connect to?
2) Are you sure that network connects to the internet? (Other computers / devices using it?)
3) Are you sure it is not secure?
4) How did you set up your WiFi connection? (Give exact setup parameters)
5) Does the WiFi icon show connected?
6) What URL are you trying to access?
7) Can you access any other site, like google.com?
At the moment there is no way of telling where the problem is.

I agree with levenum... but also you could try this....
go to settings...connections....wifi...menu...remove settings. do a soft reset then.
then whenur ppc is back on again, put the wifi scaner on, find a available accessible network. u must be able to browse again. it has worked 4 me.
worse case-- hard reset
I am trying to connect to my wireless at work (it is not secure) My work computer/laptop can connect.
I have not attempted to do ANYTHING to setup my wifi. I simply turned my wifi on and it picked up the wirless connection. Yes it says it is connected. I have attempted to go to many different URLs, each says the same error message.
If i were to attempt to do a soft/hard reset how do I do that.
If you could not already tell, I am new at this enitre thing.
wiki
please then you must find out by reading the wiki what category does ur ppc fall under. alternatively read th ppc manual or look up on the internet the ppc specifications to find the rest button. usually its a tiny hole where u can insert the tip of the stylus into. that should resEt ur ppc
when i reset it, it will not mess with my SIM card will it
sim card

you really are new to this aren't you, don't worry reset does not mess wth the sim card, please don't panic, I had the same prblem as u indeed, and read the WIKI
haha I am! How could you tell lol. THanks for the help!
Before you reset know this:
1) Hard reset will erase all your data and installed programs and restore the phone to factory settings i.e. OS and built in apps only!
Make sure you back it up!
(See manual for button combination, or try Settings->system->Clear storage icon if you have it to preform hard reset)
2) Soft reset (just press with stylus in reset hole) will simply reboot the device.
Neither will help if you didn't manage to connect to WiFi even before messing with your settings.
Also, see if you need to manually enter a gateway or proxy address to connect to to your work network. (This depends on the network settings)
One last thing: when your network is detected and you are asked if it connects to 'The internet' or 'Work' be sure to select 'The internet'.
Thats all I can think of at the moment...

Hi i have just recently hard reset my HD and something weird happened everytime i try to go onto the internet. Before when i set up my device it will automatically set up the internet setting for me and i can go online without a problem. and now after i hard reset it will connect to the internet but it will bring the connection setup page up saying new connection setup database found do you want to install it? If i press yes it will start downloading but it wont complete. if i press no then it will just bring me back to the browser which i can still connect to the internet. is there any way to stop this popup from happening? Thanks

Hi marktang - this looks like to me the connection database update from several weeks back. That makes sense if you do a hard reset - once you connect to the internet there is a HTC application or operator application in the background that does this connection database check.
It should be harmless to say download. I did it early in the morning and got a full download OK.
If you search here in the forums you will find a long thread about this subject. At first when everyone got the new database notification it was hard to get a full download.
thanks i got it.

[Q] data network

Hey All,
A noob here.....
I'm having a problem with connection to the internet on my defy.
The only way I can connect is using wifi (which is no good for when I am out and about)....
I have downloaded an application from Android Market called "Mobile data switch", when I click on it is says "data enabling" but then turns the data enable off.....
I then tried a reset via settings>privacy etc, but this has not helped...!!
I have tried to do a factory data reset, but according to the Motorola website it says "wait for the "triangle ! / android" screen and then release the volume down button and then tap on the lower right hand corner of touch screen" but nothing happens....
Is there anyway I can restore the data connection without having to do a factory reset?
if not, is there another way of doing a factory reset....
Btw, loving the "noob video" on the sign up page.....
Thanks in advance
The same problem yesterday. U must manualy tape anp data. So go to settings>wirrales and networks>mobile network settings>Acces point names>new apn and go to your mobile network provider site and find apn settings. In my xperia X10 it was done automaticly on motorola i just find to do it manualy.
Hey metiie,
I got the settings sent from my network provider, and now its working
