Hi,
I have a gmail account which I used to purchase apps, plus I have my domain calendar/mail hosted with gmail with a seperate login. I wanted to use my domain login to sync email and calendar but use my gmail address account to access the market paid apps. Is this possible? I thought of signing in as my domain account so everything syncs, then add a seperate gmail login in the hopes that this is the account the paid apps would use.
thanks

Use your domain login as your main account. When you try to purchase an app on the Market, it will advise that you need to a non-Apps for Domains account to actually go through Google Checkout and prompt you accordingly.

Dave
Thanks Dave, your awesome
Actually just realized this works for purchasing apps, but when an upgrade is released you can't see it. In fact, you can't see anything that you purchased
Are you looking the correct place? Your purchased apps are in "Downloads" in the Market, and it shows there if updates are available.
Regards,
Dave
Maybe I need to complete the purchase before the email address I entered registered. I willl try that
thanks

Hi all
Sorry if this is not an appropriate place to ask, but please let me know of somewhere more suitable if not.
I've got two google accounts bound to my N1. One is a google apps premier account (which I use for email sync) and a normal googlemail account (which I use for calendar and contacts sync).
I use Gtalk on my desktop PC's for the first account (premier apps) and not on the second one, however when I fire up Gtalk on my N1 it is using the second account and not the one I want! I have not found an option to change this behaviour.
Does anyone know how to change which account Gtalk uses on the N1?
Thanks
Android will use the account you entered first. I entered my google apps account first then the gmail account and if I now try to remove the gmail account it says I can't. This is because android has bound the gmail account to the services not supported on google apps accounts.

Hm. I added my gmail account first and then the gapps one. I too found that if I try and remove an account it wants me to factory reset my phone and lose all data/config! This is pretty crappy.
I'm hoping someone can come up with a hack or something to change this behaviour regarding gtalk as I certainly don't want to reset my phone simply to get gtalk working.
I think a reset is the only way for now :-/
This is really poor. Google have slipped up somewhat with annoyances like this
hmm... i've the same problem .. then all we can do is wait
My current workaround is to use the eBuddy application, which is working just fine.
Probably off topic, but has anyone had complaints from their regular buddies about the phone causing frequent disconnects/reconnects to their chat client? One of mine got so annoyed by the alerts that he has cut me off... (using pidgin with my primary gmail account)
(I'm guessing that it happens when I'm connected via wi-fi and voice calls come in... ? ) Does anyone have any settings suggestions for either 1) staying connected or 2) having it just wake up when needed?
I think you can go into Manage Applications in Settings, hit menu and then filter, then select All. Clear the data for Gapps and Gmail, and then reboot. If you do it right, it should ask you to login again like it did when you first turned your phone on. Login with whichever account you want to use Gtalk with.
Hey folks, I'm sure I'm not the only one who ran into this problem, but googling didn't yield anything fruitful.
I have a google account which is my e-mail address from google apps for your domain. I have a google account for legacy reasons as some google services (wave, voice, analytics) do not recognize google apps for your domain accounts and I wanted to keep everything under same e-mail.
So the problem is that my Mac address book synchronizes to the google account and the Android pulls data from the google apps for your domain account.
Any ideas how to force Mac to sync to a google apps for your domain account or how to force Android to sync with the simple google account?
Thanks!

Don't use the same password for both accounts. Then you can choose which account by which password.

Thanks! I feel dumb having not figured that on my own. Have you tried that and did it work for you? I'm afraid I'd be getting authorization errors instead.

Go into the preferences in Address Book on your Mac.
Preferences: Accounts: Account Information: Synchronize with Google: Configure.
Where it says Google Account, put in your Google Apps account. Include the domain name of your google apps account. This works for me on Snow Leopard with no problems.

So the problem is not that I had no idea how to set up syncing, the problem is that there's no way to indicate which account I want to sync if the account name and password are the same for google apps account and regular google account.
I think lakerat's suggestion would work tho -- didn't want to test it as I'm afraid to mess things up -- my mac started syncing to google apps account instead of the regular google account couple of hours after I posted original message.
I've done a lot of searching here and other places on the net, and haven't found a solid answer.
I've attempted to sync my hotmail/live contacts via exchange. I notice though, that the only fields available for my hotmail contacts, are things like first and last name. no phone number, email or any other information besides names. even when I try to add a contact, the only way to add things like number, email address, physical address is by syncing it with my Google account.
I don't use Google for much of anything. all my contacts and email are served through hotmail/live services.
How do I go about adding and syncing contacts with my hotmail/live exchange accounts?
thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me.

HMMM, not sure what to tell you but mine sync up just fine...
Try going to accounts and sync and erasing the data and then the email address, reboot the phone, and then add the address again...
just a suggestion though.... not a problem with android though because it works just fine for me....
you could also try going through the "email" client and setting up your email there instead of through "accounts and sync"
lemme clarify a bit.
I am able to sync my contacts, but if I want to edit or even add a new contact to my hotmail-exchange account, I can only add (in this order:
Name prefix
First Name
Middle Name
Last Name
Name suffiX
Phonetic given name
Phonetic middle name
Phonetic family name
there are no options available for e-mail, phone, address or any other fields that are normally available for a contact.
When I open the contact to view it though it will show me the information stored in hotmail/live information, but I CANNOT edit it. If I try to, I get the screen described above.....
So in order for me to have an updated address book, I have to add/edit contacts from the google account I have (which I don't use for anything, except to download from Market or whatever)
Are you able to add a new contact and save it to your contact book in hotmail/live?
I have tried things like removing my hotmail and live accounts and then readding them.
I think the difference between your account and mine is that you are syncing yours through your google account where as I am not... to be clear, I am not syncing my emails nor contacts nor calendar through my gmail account. I only have my hotmail account set up on the phone to sync. Except for on the phone, the two accounts don't know the other exists. IF you are syncing your hotmail contacts through your gmail account, then you are tied to the fields provided by your google account.
TO answer your question, yes, I can make any modification the phone allows to my hotmail contact and it is reflected in my hotmail account.
I just wanted to say thanks for the insight....
I had to unlink everything that was syncing, and then resynced accounts, starting with my Hotmail/live accounts....all fixed now.
thanks again.

Lemme get this straight. The issue is present only if two contact syncing services are enabled?
I tried. Setting Hotmail as the very first contact sync service and adding Google account without contacts sync does't work around the issue.
Had my Iconia for 2 weeks now, and finding new uses for it all the time.
It is a wifi only version, and I have a job that has me outdoors, and away from wifi for most of the day.
I want to cache all of my gmail messages (including attachments) so that I can view and use them offline.
Is there a setting for this, or is there an app?
Running Honeycomb.
Thanks.
I look for this also.
- another solution is
tether your phone with your tablet, and you will access online via phone... backup plan but still usefull sometimes.
You just need to setup gmail in the regular email app. Go to settings, accounts and sync, add account. Use the exchange (corporate) account type. User name is your full gmail email address. Server is m.google.com
It works.

Wow. Thanks for the tip. This is my first time hearing about this.
Should I setup my main account as Google, Exchange, or both?

^Not sure. GMAIL gets setup in the native app due to setting up your google account (for market, etc.). Not sure if you can remove it from the GMAIL app. Only drawback is double notifications for emails coming in to your gmail address. I suppose you could turn off notifications for the gmail app if it bothers you.

Do you need _all_ of them? Or just a subset? If you apply an "offline" label in gmail, then you can go into the gmail app and under label options, tell it to sync all of the "offline" label, rather than the default (4 days).
If you do actually need all of them, then I guess you could just apply the "offline" label to everything...
Thanks for all the help.
Still having some problems. When I set up the new account to sync in the regulat email app, it wants to set it up as imap, not as an exchange account type. Maybe I am doing this incorrectly?
I only need to sync one folder, and I figured out how to get the GMail program to sync all those messages, but each one has an attachment which is what I really need, and the attachments do not sync.
Getting close, but not quite what I need yet.
That's odd. The attachments sync fine for me for synced messages in the gmail app?

That's correct, you should add a "Corporate" account via Settings.
It seems now that the GMail app set to sync all mail (not just 4 days) is syncing the attachments for offline use. I am happy!! Thanks for the help everyone.
Hi,
I'm still trying to work out how to set up an additional gmail account that does not get linked to my phone.
When I use the app and set it up both the Play email address and my main email come up together in one place.
Or if this is not possible what app do I need to use to download attachments if I use the default email app?
Thanks.
