mytouch sms question - myTouch 3G, Magic General

Hi everyone. Long-time lurker, first time poster. I'll be quick. My current phone (HTC Juno) is dying, and I need to replace it in the next 7 days (or preferably by friday this week). I'm picking between the new mytouch 3g (not the fender, but does have a 3.5mm port *YAY!*) and the nexus one, although price-wise the n1 is maybe more than I can handle. I use SMS a lot and I love that the Juno, and winmo let me keep every freaking text I send and receive until I say to delete (after backing up, of course). Does the Magic have a magic number when it starts deleting sms/mms? can you turn it off? or is it like winmo... just keeps them all until you say to delete? Thanks for your time and I appreciate prompt responses as I have to make a choice asap.

anyone at all? I'm desperate over here! Not even HTC could answer the question... (I called their tech support)

It shouldn't auto-delete. I've had message threads that consisted of 1000+ messages from between a friend and I and I could have pushed it further. You shouldn't have to worry unless you start getting really high message counts, then it starts to lag a bit.

I've had my Mytouch 1.2 for about a week with about 1,500 messages, I have yet to delete one. I don't believe it deletes messages automatically.

many thanks, cody and hal. With that, I can stop worrying about android and try to figure out whether to get the mytouch or n1 x_x I appreciate your help!

If you're tight on money and don't mind some lag here and there, I would suggest the MyTouch, but if you want an all around fast phone with flashy features and a 3G problem, if it still exists, then you go with the N1.

Typing delay + more!

alright when i first got my phone i never had a problem with a typing delay. but now my phone is 6 mopnths old and i am now having lots of problems. fristly a few weeks ago i had to do a complete factory reset becuse my phone totally went rretarted. i was sitting in a restuarant and i was txting someone and her name is tiffany. i texted her and then the next message she sent me showed her number in stead of her name(like from tiffany now says from 72789846) but i didnt think anything of it like maybe she had her friends phone or something. so i didnt do anything about it. and then i got home that night and fell asleep and when i awoke i had 2 missed called so i clicked missed calls on the htc home plug in and the phone totally locked up. i reset it and upod reset i found that i cannot make calls. cant recieve calls. it said i didnt have service. couldnt go online . lost all my contacts. and the only thing i could do is text. i was furious of course. this would be the second time this year i lost all my contacts! So i called sprint and they could do nothing for me. So i did a factory reset and sucked it up!. this itself is a huge prblem becuase i no longer trust my phone at all. but i reset it and then found the new sprint rom so i loaded that on there (2nd format basicly) and its all good i suppose. its a little bit slower than it used to be. but now my cpu is as 90-95% with nothing running. slowing down my ppc to almost a standstill. it takes a very long time to open anything. but thats not why im bothered. now whenever i type the typeing delay is sooooooooo badd.. i will type a full text message and it wont type anything then i will put my phone down and 5 seconds or so later the message will be typing itself!. i want this to be fixed. also i want to speed up my phone because its very agrivating. a cheap 20 dollar phone is faster than this 350 dollar POS. but i am forced to live with my phone. and its a dam shame because i love the phone. i love everything you can do. but i want to be able to do those things well..i mean i paid 350$ for a good phone not frustration. if anyone can be of assistance please post thank you

I am sorry, that is one of the hardest things to read I have ever seen on this board. Good luck to you and to whoever can read that and find an answer for you.
OP: I have to agree with RevSand.
I Tried - really, I did. But, the simple fact is, my eyes crossed trying to read that ?paragraph?
You'll have much better luck getting a response if you
A) shorten that whole thing to include relevant details
B) don't type it like you're typing a text message
C) Line breaks. Paragraph Breaks.
People on message boards (myself included) generally browse through pretty quickly. VERY long winded and difficult to read posts often get read 5% of the way through, and not finished. I'm sure you can see why this would be detrimental to your getting a response/solution.
Have a great day,
Ben

I suggest finding a reliable ROM from either DCD kitchens or no2chem. Then uploading it into your phone ( sprint rom ofcourse ) maybe the tweaks they have made can help you out.
But if you want to stay at a stock rom ( with out GPS or Rev.A ) im sure DCD has a very stable rom for that too, or you can exchange your phone for a new one if everything else fails.

I second [email protected]$'s sentiments. I'm using DCD's 3.0.1 ROM and it is great!
The 15 minute solution is to first reflash your phone with the latest Official Sprint Mogul ROM 3.35:
http://www.htc.com/us/FAQ_Detail.aspx?p_id=75&act=sd
This will not only hard reset your device (erases all data), it will upgrade both the operating system and the radio. The upgraded radio enables GPS and also enables even faster data speeds.
Copy the .exe file of dotFred's PIM backup v2.8 (for WM5 & WM6)
http://www.dotfred.net/default.htm
into a directory (doesn't matter) on your Mogul and schedule it to regularly, AUTOMATICALLY backup all of your Contacts (and whatever else you want) onto your MicroSD every night.
There is LOTS of detailed information in this great forum about this. For further info on the Stock Sprint upgrade you can also check out:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=20641
Depending upon your job or environment, it is possible that you subjected your Mogul to an electric shock or EMP of some sort that might happen again (which could erase or corrupt your personal data), so you probably want to make a habit of backing up/synchronizing your unit with your desktop PC.
If you want to use a customized ROM, I would recommend one of DCD's latest. At the top of the "Titan Upgrading" section of XDA-Developers, you'll see DCD's latest ROM "dcd's titan ROMs & kitchen 3.0.4" or you can do a search for "DCD titan Rom 3.0.1" and select the .exe "Sprint ROM" made by |||bored||| posted by DCD in the first post. These can speed up your device even more and offer some nice features.
However there are some careful (but easy) steps that you'll want to follow when upgrading to a customized ROM, so I strongly recommend reading the forums carefully. I found this one helpful:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=17667
Also, because most of the customized ROMs are streamlined to operate faster and more efficiently, some features that you MIGHT want have been disabled or removed. Browsing the forums can help identify how to re-enable/re-install any of these that are important to you. That being said, they've added LOTs of nice features not available on the stock ROM.

Can't we start a petition for this sms problem??

Hi all,
I was wondering if I can't start a partition for the sms problem for leo. This is still a phone people and the two major functions of a phone are to be able to call and send text messages. Meanwhile all HTC seems to do is fix some little calendar and sd-card bugs but where is the WORKING fix for the sms messaging problem? I think if we start a petition and show HTC how much people are struggling with this problem, they will need to hurry up and fix this problem once and for all. Only problem is that I don't know how to start this off and I could use a little help. Thnx in advance.
Grtz
P.S. Still loving my snappy Leo, but it's very frustrating when you can't send messages when you're used to do this a lot..
totally agree. they should stop all other fixing not fixing anythng nd work on this issue.
I don't believe in petitions; needs someone to organise, etc.
Better idea, if you feel so strongly about it, is to write to HTC's technical department and copy their publicity and marketing people in.

i dont know which problem you talk about.
but there is already a hotfix for sms-problem from htc.

He knows that, but that hotfix dosent work. This is why he put WORKING hotfix in his message. HTC need to sort this out. coz i'm seriously thinking of selling this phone and getting another iPhone now.

doesnt work
Gotta agree hot fix did nothing for me. Seriously annoying trying to send messages. Its rather embarrassing when i show off the phone!
The only thing that gets me by is the little work around someone suggested. When loading a contact Open and Close the menu(bottom right) then you can type. Its annoying but much faster than waiting for nearly a minute to start typing.
they should remove and return me back the old classic outlook sms!!!!

Exactly, when people use the phone to try it out and it gets stuck on one of the most basic functions, they just think "why would someone use a phone that doesn't text?". It won't do much for the "i want one" mentality that HTC want people to have when they see their friends using their phones.

What makes you think so? There are loads of people who've installed the fix and experienced the bug since. And more are cropping up every day. Just because some people haven't had the bug come back after installing the fix doesn't mean it wont. Some users had the phone for weeks before the bug cropped up initially. Moreover, HTC themselves are not advertising the hotfix as relating in anyway to the stuck outbox problem. The accompanying description on their site is a load of marketing speak nonsense.
My 2p worth.
Firstly I have a love hate relationship with HTC Messaging. I've always used PocketCM anyway instead of the standard MS c#@* and it has worked lovely until the recent ROMS came along. Now it simply won't run alongside. Just crashes out. I don't know why and the developer can't assist as he does not have a machine to test it with and can't recreate the issue etc, etc...
Last week T-Mobile made me an offer that could not be refused and so I upgraded to the HD2. It has been with some trepidation that I have used it the past week or so as I send and receive a lot of texts on a daily basis but I have to say I have not had the problems you guys are having. They go straight away and there is none of the lag that has been reported. I'm beginning to think I must be very lucky! On the other hand I would agree that to me the two basics of these phones that must work faultlessly are the calls themselves and SMS. The fact that there is issues is pretty dreadful...
My next hope is the arrival of hacking SPL so I can flash a decent ROM onto the device and hopefully one without this program built in!!
The SMS outbox build-up (and therefore non-sending) bug is intermittent. I had it after around 4 days on my original handset. I installed the hotfix immediately upon unboxing the replacement and encountered the problem within 24 hours. There is also another, more nasty and even more intermittent SMS bug - mentioned by only a couple of people on this forum - and that is texts going to someone other than the intended recipient. I have had it happen twice to me and that is enough to give me ZERO confidence in sending texts on this device. I don't discuss anything that I would be embarrassed about if it were to get into the wrong hands. This is a bit of a disaster for a seasoned texter like myself, I used to text more than I made calls.
HTC need to address this, they obviously can't locate the 'bug' or don't fully understand the problem. Intermittent faults are notoriously difficult to fix as they never occur when the 'tester' is checking for them. Therefore if a fault cannot be replicated, how can it ever be fixed? My 2 cents is that the whole messaging app should be rewritten from scratch and the plans for the old system should not be looked at - it should all be fresh. If they can't find the bug, write some new code.

+1 to that idea but I wouldn't hold your breathe!!
One again, I repeat: I haven't seen anyone in America have this issue. I use ATT and have no issues with texts. None. I've had my HD2 for almost a whole month, as well.

That's the problem. Although I've read and followed these threads about this problem as they came across the forum, I had'nt had any problems myself and considered myself lucky too! But after regaining confidence in messaging with my leo, and I started to send texts again it turned out this problem occurs quite random. Sometimes I send a text and it gets delivered right away, but another time I'll send a text and a few others to other recipients, and they all get delivered 2 days later!! That's where it gets tricky for HTC I think. Then again, if they are able to create these beautiful devices, they're certainly able to rewrite a flawless messaging-app from scratch.. Only hope that this will be fixed soon Or HardSPL will be released soon.

If you're saying that, YOU know nothing.
I too suffer this problem.
Today I got really pi**ed with it and uninstalled the Hotfix, leaving just the ROM Update, so far so good - probably just today though!
This is a really buggy phone throughout though, probably the worst I've had, but somehow this appeals to me deep down
I've had the phone since November, seen the sms problem only twice. Kinda got the impression that it only occurs if the phone has been on a good while, i.e a number of charges with no soft-resets. That could easily be coincidence.
Both times also after spotting the messages in the outbox and doing a soft reset the queued messages sent.
Still not working for me too

These are my issues: I need to decide today when I return of keep the HD2 :(

Hello XDA Team,
Firstly, I want to say a huge thanks to the contributors of this forum as I've silently benefitted from your work over the past year on my previous phone, i900 Omina. Unsurprisingly I'm one of the many people who was tempted by the HD2 as it's effectively everything I always wished the Omnia would be - in principle.
So, I received my HD2 last Tuesday (direct from T-Mobile) and my number was ported from Vodafone on Thursday. After using the phone for a weekend I arranged an exchange as I believed my handset was faulty due to the crackling and resonating sounds from the earpeice. When I searched online I didn't find anyone with a similar complaint so I assumed mine was faulty. The replacement arrived on Tuesday and it's exactly the same, only this time the bottom row of buttons isn't a good a fit as on the first. Small issue that one and not really a deal breaker. A bit more searching and this time round I found the lists of post from people with the same sound quality complaints.
The issues I have with this phone are:
1) The crackling speaker - resonating to people's voices.
2) The SMS functionality, slow loading of messages and formatting bugs with the date stamp for one message overlapping the previous message in a thread, changing text size doesn't apply to every text in a thread.
3) The Contacts app freezes everytime I make a change to a contact, rendering the phone useless for about 30 seconds after each change. This includes when I add someone to the favourites list in Sense.
4)Random slow downs of Sense when hardly anything is running in the background (just Comm Manager)
5) The camera, even with the hotfix still has reddish/pinkish colouring to the middle of the picture
6) videos I recorded with the HD2 won't play on the HD2!!! Eh? What's going on there?????
Now I can accept software issues as I know these will be fixed eventually. My Omnia was a much better phone after a year of owning it than when it was first delivered almost solely down to ROM updates. However I am genuinely concerned that the speaker crackling is a hardware fault and not software, hence never going to improve.
Which brings me to my dilemma. I bought this phone from T-Mobile, which means I have a 7 working day period to return the phone and cancel my contract with no penalty. Today is the last day of that period, so I need to decide today whether to return the phone or to percevere.
I'll add a bit of balance to the dilemma by listing the things I love about the phone, which ultimately are the reasons which I would want to keep it if the issues could be fixed:
1) The screen the screen the screen!!!!!
2) Facebook integration with contacts
3) Great web browsing
4) Good music player & 3.5mm headphone jack
5) 3G, HSDPA and WiFi
6) WinMo so easy to sync with work Outlook and keep my Omnia contacts and SMS history.
7) Slim design, easy to pocket.
There you go, I have until the end of today to make my decision. I honestly don't know what I would replace the HD2 with IF I do decide to return it for good but 18 months if a long time to be using a phone which is supposed to be state of the art but stuggles with some of the fundamental jobs of a mobile phone.
Thanks for your time
DC.
Send it back.
I've had one now for over a month and it's great.
I don't have any of the problems you have.
I did have a slight pink tinge when I focussed at close range on a white sheet. But with the recent hotfix that is much improved. Anyway, I don't often photo white sheets !
I also don't video at all so tried your problem and I can confirm it's super simple to video and then playback (it's offered as an option after the recording is stopped).
I would send it back and ask for a new one and insist on an updated ROM.

I agree with sending it back as faulty. Say you want another two weeks (or however long it is) with the new one as this one has been so faulty you need to re-evaulate when you get the new one whether you want it or not.
As for insisting on an updated ROM, don't even think about saying that to your phone provider. None of them have updated ROMs yet, and probably won't for a long time. They're likely to wait until the majority of bugs are ironed out before going through the lengthy process of "updating" a ROM for their customers. Seriously - just ignore that advice. Hi
Instead of writing here your complaints you should have read some of the threads explaining your problems. I advice you to backup your data then hard reset your device and reinstall your programs one by one and eliminate the program which is eating your HD2's memory. At least half of your problem will be gone after hard reset.
i am using HD2 for a month now and resolved 90% problems came with it.

Probably if you spoke to the local phone rep and said "ROM" they would be most confused !

I'm sure they'd advise you on a massive 32MB ROM SD card that you could put in and store all your music and video on.

Oh I've been reading the threads here non stop and have hard reset the phone three times since receiving it. The only programs I've installed are BSB tweaks and the YouTube app which T-Mobile has removed. Otherwise it's untouched.
My main issue is the crackling speaker, which if you read my post you'd see that I'm happy to wait to sort all the software issues out over time, but hardware issues are different.
My problem is that T-mobile will not do another exchange. They will only give me one chance to exchange then it's either cancel or keep. As I'm on my 2nd handset already, it means I have to make that decision today.
I know some of you hate to see posts from people who are considering ditching their HD2, but that's the reality. We exist. I'm an existing WinMo user too, not even one of the iphone brigade.
I can imagine the issues you're having are annoying and I must admit I've also experienced some of them.
1) Crackling: not a problem for me. I use a bluetooth headset (plus I'm a a bit deaf anyway) so I don't notice any crackling. Have you tried a headset? Any headset? Does it still occur or is the problem only from the external speaker and earpiece? I know others have complained about the volume but thought it was fixed in a newer ROM
2) Messages loading: yes, a real pain. Have you tried the workaround which is to click "Send" as soon as the messages start loading, then click "No" when prompted to send an empty message?
3) Contacts: I haven't had this problem, but then I haven't added users to any groups as they were already set up on my X1.
4) Random Slowdowns: yes, I must admit, this happens to me from time to time. Although you might think that nothing is running there are some processes that aren't visible by default that may be consuming the CPU's time.
I've been using Leo ROMs for quite a while now and if you think it's bad on the HD2 you should've tried it on the X1 to really appreciate the speed and stability of the Leo. OK, perhaps not an acceptable answer for you but some things you just have to put up with and blame not on the phone but the underlying OS (yes, Windows!!)
5) Camera: I've noticed the pink tint too even after installing the hotfix. Annoying, to say the least!
6) Camcorder playback: Works for me!!
The camcorder issue must be 1.43 T-Mob rom related. This new handset has the same problem as the 1st one. It will record video, but won't playback.
I also have annoying freezing when I try to do the simplest of tasks, like emptying the deleted messages folder in the SMS app, to the point where the back cover comes off and the reset button has to be pressed.
BUT, when it works properly I love this phone. I guess if I keep it I'll be flashing new ROMs like there's no tomorrow. Obviously I haven't done that yet as I can't risk breaking the warranty on a phone which I may return.
Get it on O2 and apply the hotfixes... seems to be the better rom
Sod it, I'm keeping the phone. There's nothing else on the market that interests me, and no reason to think that the hardware on the upcoming Nexus will be any better if it's also an HTC handset.
I've got an SD card primed with Goldcard and 1.61.....I'm not gonna take the plunge just yet, but I've read some of the positive feedback on the newer ROMs. Once I've given up on T-Mobile releasing a newer ROM, then I'll get flashing.

It wouldn't surprise me if HTC haven't already got their sights on another ROM which has all hotfixes plus the one they are working on for the SMS fix that doesn't work, a hotfix to fix a hotfix lol.
Eventually they could even release android for it, why not? the hardware is what is keeping me glued to my phone, its ace. they owe it to us!
If it's O2 then you do get leeway (or used to) with regards to what you report as bugs and what they'll do or at least they used to.
When HTC Universal came out that was riddled with bugs and even the phone app didn't work properly (nearly put me off winmo phones for life, HD2 has been my first since) so anyway I called up after the 7 days said look I love the phone but these bugs are killing me. So they sent me another one which I tried and found the same bugs with, so they let me get a different model instead, and this was WAAAAY outside the usual 7 days because the phone was faulty. The 7 day rule is really there for if you get it and you just don't like it, not because it has issues, if it has issues then different more lenient policies apply.
My suggestion would be do the same tell them about the crackling etc and other bugs and get them to send you another, if it's still got the same issues then you've still got the option to swap.
Also without going into too much detail take your time sending yours back, you might find they'll let you keep hold of it for longer then you'd think

HTC HD2 - Possibly the worst mobile phone i have ever had

Just as the title says......
I got this phone in December after hearing nothing but good reviews about it and HTC Sense looks really good. I have had Nokia phones ever since the Nokia 3210 but after some problems with my last 2 Nokia's, i thought i would leave them and move to HTC.
To start with i use my phone a lot for listening to music but the music player is riduculous. It keeps stopping during songs, and sometimes the phone restarts itself when this happens. Sometimes it takes a couple of minutes for the song to play after selecting it.
Secondly, the text messaging application is a complete joke. I can send a text message to say my wife and she will not receive the message for a good coupls of hours or even sometimes, the next day. I have spoken to my service provider and they tell me that the message is taking 5 SECONDS to get from my phone to the recipent. That's when the phone actually decides to send the message.
Thirdly, typing on the keyboard is riduculous. Random letters are activated without me even pressing those keys. I can press, say, 'k' and some random letter in the middle of the keyboard is activated. This make typing a text message so so frustrating and annoying.
Lastly, i keep loosing the signal, therefore i cannot make a phone call, send a text or even browse the web. The signal indicator at the top of the screen has little dots where it indicates that it is looking for a signal and my operator text dissappears.
Other than these problems the phone is ok but i have sent the device to HTC twice now and it has come back exactly the same. The first time they said that they re-connected some connector inside the phone and the second time, they said that they reflashed the device due to some error messages.
I can honestly say that i regret making the move to the HTC HD2 and i am dissappointed because it had such good reviews. What can i do...go back to Nokia??

Hi Guys,
I have upgraded my phone to Rom 1.66 from the HTC website when it was released
you can try using a cooked ROM from this great forum and you will find that the great chefs here make better roms and most little annoyances you mention are ironed out.
using a cooked rom also makes you relize what a brilliant device the HD2 is compared to a Nokia!!!!!!

right, why do you hspl your device anyways if you're using stock roms?
ive got the telstra version in australia and dont have any of those problems with messaging or music playback etc. as far as i am concerned, it is an excellent phone. i have not upgraded the roms or anything. it is exactly as it was from telstra. as far as the signal thing goes, that is probably due to your carrier. regarding the keyboard, turn on the xt9 predictive text thing on the keyboard. trust me when i say it works. i was having difficulty with the keyboard due to having a touch pro as my previous phone that had a physical keyboard. the xt9 takes care of this problem. it does take a little getting used to especially if you are like me and learnt to touch type, but i find it easy to use now. dont give up on it just yet, they are as good as they look.

dear friend
if i may suggest, you need to take a strong stand with the shop you bought this phone from or at least with HTC. Your handset is definitely defected in terms of hardware and any kind of ROM upgrade is not going to help you.
best of luck
o2-lover
Have to agree with O2 lover. Had my phone for about 5 weeks and was running stock ROM 1.43.206.4 for a few weeks before upgrading to a cooked ROM and I had none of those problems.
Take it back to the shop and insist on a replacement handset as there is something clearly wrong with yours.
I know 3 people all with HD2's running stock ROM's (earlier ones than the 1.66 version which you're running) and I've never heard of any of the problems you've encountered.
No amount of flashing cooked ROM's will solve your problems imo...
The HD2 indeed had all those problems which you mentioned. But most of them are fixed now.
If you want to try a Custom ROM I'd suggest Artemis. It seemed pretty stable to me.
Also install the Less Sensitivity patch for your Keyboard.
Yeah install HSPL and void your warranty as your phone wasn't working properly in the 1st place.
He clearly has a defective handset, great advice though guys lol
rom choice is just a personal preferance but i use dutty's from htc pedia. all the issues you mention are all found in this forum if you do a little digging around. and there are loads of info for you to find out.
the music part if i remember rightly is somthing with the memory card try format the sd card.
the messaging problem i had on stock rom also sent a text to my gf about 12 o'clock and she recieved it at 3 a few times but changing radio helped. that's with 3 networkin the uk.
as for the keyboard use XT9 as its so easy to use(just typed this whole message using my phone)
i really do not think its hardware related? i could be wrong.
moving from a nokia to a device like this is hard to figure out but in time it sill be easy.

using HSPL won't void your warranty as it can easily be removed!!!!
I've experienced the music pausing on the 1.66 ROM although your pausing seems worse than mine (my phone has never restarted during music playback). Have you tried using another music player like Pocket Player? The reception problems and text message delays are possibly related and most likely caused by poor reception in your area. In my experience, the antenna in the HD2 is pretty good and I can often get good reception in areas where other people get none.
All answered by previous posters.
In your specific case I would suggest you need to be 'connected to people', rather than being 'quietly brilliant'.
Certainly this forum had all the answers to all your concerns apart from losing signal.
Generally where a device receives a multitude of rave reviews, it justifies these various reviewer opinions. The HD2 is no exception!
Since listening to music is your main ambition, any reason why you haven't considered the iPhone.
I have the ipod touch which is gathering dust, but I do miss not having a volume slider and perhaps lyrics!
Before the HD2 my Boss bought me the nokia N97...the worst Phone ever made by nokia:
ridiculous hardware problems, touchscreen with no cinetic scroll ( we talk about 600 € for the phone, man!!!).
Try to google around with this key words: "n97 gps" or "n97 camera"...
So don't say us, nokia is better
Nokia loses the touchscreen smartphone war, that's all.
Cheers
I've had my HD2 since release, way before HSPL and custom ROMs were available. I've never had any of the issues you have experienced, so a hardware problem with your handset could be likely.
However, I would at least have a bash at upgrading to a custom ROM first before returning your handset. If it does not improve matters you can flash back to a stock rom, which removes HSPL, so warranty will not be voided. You can then try for a replacement handset knowing in your mind there is definately an issue with the handset itself.
As well as the 'Artemis' ROM that was suggested, I would also recommend 'Topix' or 'Energy' ROM variants. But rather than listening to other people, have a good read in the "HD2 ROM Development" forum section for yourself. Finding a ROM you are happy with is very much about personal preference. It would be worth trying a few any way. But beware, flashing gets very addictive!

Do you want a official SMS Fix?

Hoi Pipeloi my fellow HD2 and other HTC owners
This is not just a poll its kind of a petition for the official SMS bug Fix
that HTC "wont" try to Fix...
The bug only shows up when you have 20+ smses of one or more contacts. Sense reloads these smses for no reason en slows down the device.
you can do a little trick for a faster load but that wil not help mutch : when you open contacts smses press send and there wil be a popup just press no and voila all smses are quickly reloaded...
Vote: Yes please HTC please...!
Vote: Pfff never mind... my next device will not be a HTC Phone...
Vote: I dont care...
If this Poll has over 1000 or more votes i wil send it to HTC
and lets see what thy gonna say then
Probably will do similar thread about HTC give everyone a free HD2 Device.
With the same result.

my sms works great, but i vote yes for those who have probs with it, cause i just cant imagine a life without sms >.<!
and i want an awsome windows mobile sms app, the standard winmo one gets boring and htc messaging suxx too :/
Just to clarify the only issue I have with SMS and writting in general is that damn ghosts typing where every button on the keypad randomly gets pressed. Even more annoying when you have swype!
Is this what you are referring to?
mine is ok, but I voted for those with issues

well i don't have that problem... you my try this for the gost typing
the fix we want is for when you gonna type a sms the prev smses are reloaded and therefor slowing down the reaction time of the keyboard..
Oh I see. I had that with my previous decide so I took it back and threatened to cancel the contract, the next one did the same thing so I gave them one last chance. Its now all ok.
I still join you in your pain though and voted.
Thanks for the link I'll check it out now
Yes indeed. I truly hope they are going to fix this SMS issue.
I voted yes and did call HTC about this problem and did mention to them that i am not the only one with this issue. They told me we don't care what message boards have to say lol
Well i hope they still do something about this
I'm in! This has got to be fixed FAST!

Ok thx -- its done
I'm not sure if this will help, but when I flashed the official O2 Rom 1.72.206.3 a few days ago, the sms delay problem seemed to have dissapeared. I tried two contacts that have threads of around 100 sms messages with no delay at all.
I'm using the new O2 ROM (1.72.206.3) aside from it being absolute CRAP the SMS issue still persists. Among other things, which are much more annoying, like the constantly skipping music (even with hot-fix), but nothing more annoying than my phone locking up and belching out its load ass ring-tone while vibrating it's self to pieces if I don't pick up fast enough, which obviously requires me to remove the battery, something I have to do at least once a day.
I'm still using a stock ROM because I'm debating my next move, which is likely to be that O2 are going to get this phone shoved up their ass.
I'm tired of this device, I'm also tired of watching my old iPhone 3G (which my wife now has) working flawlessly, like it did for me. I'm also still puzzled to why I made the decision to get a HTC HD2 when the iPhone 3GS would have solved all my gripes with the original iPhone 3G (being slightly slow).
Rant over!

Perhaps you've got a lemon Phil and you need to bring it back to O2. I'm using the same device with the same rom and the same hotfixes. I have zero lag on my sms messages no matter how long the thread and my music plays fine. I think your other problems may be down to settings and tweaks which is something WM users need to get used to (although most, like myself, enjoy the tweaking very much). My wife is happy with her iphone 3GS too, but I think the HD2 is far superior for my needs. I'm not trying to start an HD2/iphone debate, there are already too many on the forums, I'm just saying that given a propper device with the propper tweaks and mods, you've got one envyable phone there.
You guys who don't have this problem, what ROM and radio do you have?
