- when connected via USB, I can sync emails and use internet.
- when connected via GPRS, I can sync emails and use internet.
- when connected via WIFI, I can NOT sync emails but i CAN use internet.
When browse to "settings/Connection/Connections/Advanced Tab/Select Networks Button"
Programs that automatically connect to the Internet should connect using:
My Work Network
Programs that automatically connect to private network should connect using:
My Work Network
When I am want to download emails I must change the second dropdown menu option to T-Mobile Interet. It starts my GPRS and then download emails to Pocket Outlook.
I have set the download emails shedule to download automaticaly after few minutes - it is useful for me when connectd via USB. But what settings I must do, to be able to Send/Receive emails via WIFI?
Thank you.
But how to set it up, so I can download

On AT&T I have both set to MediaNet but can still pull e-mails through WiFi.
Check your proxy settings and make sure there's no server listed.
I have no proxy set for T-mobile nor for My Work Network

Try this, go to your inbox\Menu\Tools\Options
Select your account and go through the settings, on the last screen where you choose what to sync, select menu\advanced, and in the connection box, be sure it is set to internet. That is the only other thing I can think of that may affect your WiFi connection.

should i settup a connection through a proxy server... how would i do this..
thanks again for any help
Tony
Hi Tony,
I definitely didn't set up a proxy server on my XDAII, so I'm pretty sure its not that.
Have you got a connection set up to use the GPRS connection on your XDA - under start - settings - connections tab - connections . I have a connection called 'My ISP' , which when I click on 'manage existing connections' has the modem set to use a GPRS connection. Again I don't remember setting this up, so it may be something O2 install from the rom. Try a reset and see if it picks anything up.
One thing I would suggest you do get when you are using GPRS is some sort of traffic monitor. I use Spb GPRS monitor (via Handango) and its well worth a tenner.
Hope this helps
Hi i just got my XDA2 today and I too can not get onto Internet through Activesync and pc just tries to call up on gprs
I have tried the above suggestion still no luck
Can any one help
I can connect to the Internet from my XDA II via the ActiveSync connection on my desktop PC. The connection was configured automatically by the XDA II when I first synchronized it with the desktop PC. The XDA II even automatically configured the proxy server setting to the one I use at the office.
Go to Start->Settings, select the Connections tab and click on Connections. On the Connections window, there should be two connections listed on the Tasks tab. Select the Advanced tab and click on the Select Networks button. On the Network Management window, the first drop-down list should have your GPRS connection selected and the second drop-down list should have your ActiveSync connection (My Work Network) selected.
Thanks Jargon got mine working now

Just follow the same directions I have already given. But instead of selecting the missing "My Work Network" connection, create a new one by pressing the "New..." button below the second drop-down list. Name it "My Work Network". Then select the "Proxy Settings" tab and check the "This network connects to the Internet" checkbox. Click on "OK" to close the window.

Everytime I try to download e-mail through ActiveSync, I get this message:
"Messages cannot be downloaded to your mobile device. Make sure you are connected and that your e-mail account settings are correct. Then, try to download messages again.
I have checked all details and all seems fine, but still cannot connect to e-mail server.
I can browse internet pages with Internet Explorer.
Thanks for your help.
Could this be the problem?
In the network cards setting which option should I choose: My network card connects to work or to the internet.
Everytime I choose internet it goes back to work...
Is there a way for the setting to remain?
I just got a $600 bill for cell data charges and I can't seem to stop it! Hopefully someone can help...
Here's what I did in my testing tonight:
1. I went to:
Start | Settings | Connections | Advanced | Select Networks
and set both pull-downs to "My Work Network". Shouldn't this force all data connections to WiFi only? Neither is set to use the cell network.
2. I went to comm manager and ensured MS Direct Push and Data Connection are disabled.
I then take my phone into the basement where there is no cell signal and I then go to activesync and click SYNC. A warning popup window appears saying "There is a problem connecting to the GPRS service in your registered home network."
So...activesync is STILL trying to use the GPRS network. What is going on? How can I stop use of GPRS???
Thanks
HI
well this is what you need I think, I use it and is great!! it call's nodata and is free

Personally I use HD Tweak to disable my GPRS settings so that I can control when my device can and cannot connect.
You can find HD Tweak at http://montecristoff.webs.com/
You'll find that there are some other useful features in HD Tweak besides enabling/disabling data connections too.
your problem is that Activesync is set, by default, to sync on a regulsr basis.
you need to set up a dummy exchange account and then you can get into the AS scheduler nd set it to 'manual'

...or, alternatively, go to ActiveSync -> Menu -> Scheduling -> Set both options to 'Manually'. It won't try to connect GPRS/EDGE any more until you explictly want to do it.
Or you can set in your gprs connection profile that you need a password, then it will show a connection box every time, so you can tell it, if you want to connect or not.
I actually have an exchange account this the HD must sync to, but using WiFi only.
I don't understand why it is trying GPRS!? Should it only use available connections?
Something still doesn't make sense. The MoDaCo app does the same thing as HTC's Comm Manager I think so that may not be the answer. I don't want to mask the problem, just figure out why it is syncing this way.
Solved! To help others trying to disable GPRS as well, here is the solution:
Go to HKLM\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\{7C4B7A38-5FF7-4bc1-80F6-5DA7870BB1AA}\Connections
Export this “connections” key to undo your changes later.
Go inside every data connection and you’ll find a key “Enabled”.
This key has a value 0×1 (1), change this for every connection to 0×0 (0) for every connection you want to disable.
I could only get activesync to sync wireless with bluetooth? or by usb.can you fo it in your home network?
I'm syncing with an Exchange server - that works differently than syncing with a PC...
I did a hard reset before but now when I try to conect to Live messenger it fails and the email won't sync. Internet works fine and weather updates ect.
Any ideas?
Thanks
i have a similer problem. cant send a recieve on 3g. it just says can not connect. turn on the wifi and bingo emails come down. back to 3g and nothing again. the connection i fine. i can go on line download app ect.
ive actually been going to the hotmail website to view my emails. this works fine but its not ideal. would like to get the main mail working prpoerly.
ARe you using T MObile roms? Try un ticking the 'use proxy' setting if it is set, and you should be good to go.
settings tab - menu - all settings - connections - connections - manage existing connections - proxy settings tab.
No access to email via 3G
Have set up access to email account which works fine when on a wireless network. When wireless is unavailable I am unable to connect via 3G (Telstra NextG). All I manage is a Cannot Connect message and a suggestion that I change my settings. There is no entry for a Proxy Server as I would expect and internet access via 3G is operative.
Hello, guys
My e-mail used to be updating correctly the first few days. (set 2 hours interval). But now it isn't. Is it because I already opened the new e-mails in my PC? I use Yahoo, FYI. One more thing, how to refresh the e-mail? Like update now option in weather and twitter. Thanks.
try send/receive and see if you get all the emails you've already read come through.....
Sometimes emails will update on wifi only as you'll need to go into email setup manually and choose your connection...
That could be your problem...
Had the same problem but solved it as follows:
Goto Settings, Wireless controls, Menu, Connections, Set up my proxy server.
If the box 'This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet' is checked, uncheck it! This works for me every time.
