Hello
When calling another person from my phone and if there are on the phone you will get call waiting as this way you now the person it on the phone.
I have tired it from another phone and it works but when i try it on htc hd2 it doesn't come up saying call waiting. Where as the person it on a call.
It was a very useful thing to have on phone. Is there a reg key i can change or cab file??
I think that if you are dialing, you do not have call waiting. This is also true for fixed lines. This is the only time your caller can get a busy tone.
But home phone nowadays operate like cell phones, and do not really send out the DTMF until you press the talk button. As a result, the dialing process beomes so quick that it does not matter much.

For example
If I am dialling your number and while you are already on another call with someone else than it will come up on my phone call waiting.
This way I now you are on the phone.
It use to work from my nokia phone but I am not sure if that option is available in winmo

I have been trying to make conference calls on my Hero. They don't work. I can make a call, and then hit Menu and select "Add Call". The phone will put the primary call on hold, I hear what sounds like a dial tone for about a half of a second, and then silence. The primary call is still on hold, and I can return to it when I "merge" the calls, but no conference. In fact the second number dialed is never rung.
I thought this was just a problem on my phone so I took it in to a Sprint Repair Center. While it was being looked at I tried making a conference call on the display Hero. No go. It didn't work either. So, I called a friend with a Sprint Hero as well and his wouldn't make conference calls either.
Is this a Sprint Hero issue? Is this a Sense UI issue?
I would love some more users feedback of what works on their Sprint or Non-Sprint Heros.
I get same results as you do, not an issue for me though as I dont use that feature.

Are you using a Sprint Hero or the GSM?
Here is what you do... I had the same problem.
When you are on a call press the GREEN Call Button ( its like flash on a landline ) you will hear a dial tone.
Dial another number once connected press menu and merge calls.
Works all the time.
I am on Sprint Hero.

Thank You. Wonderful. That works.
I would assume the problem is a bug in the Firmware, but that is an ignorant's guess.

This has been the proper method to make conference calls for a LONG time on Sprint. For some reason I ALWAYS try to use the add call myself, thinking that they've finally "fixed" it, but I suppose this is just the way it is.

Sprint... Thanks to the people above now I know how to do this!!
when i am on the phone with someone and another person is calling me i can anwer this call - unfortunately on htc I only hear nothing.
does manila/winmo/htc supports call waiting/conf calls and features like that?
I'm not sure what your issue is, but here are some details:
You can activate call waiting, if your operator supports it. here is how it works: you are on the phone with person A, person B is calling. While person B is calling, you'll hear short beeps (always in a row of two beeps) thus letting you know there is some 'activity' going on.
You can answer the second call and put the first on hold. In the meantime, person A will hear a sound similar to the 'beeeep-beeeeep-beeeeep' calling sound.
When you decide you want to make a conference, you simply click Menu -> Conference, and now you have both calls connected.
In case you have several calls on hold, you can select which calls you want to make the conference with.
I get a lot of calls, often getting calls when already on a call.
I had a TYTN II before, and it had a function that allowed me to hang up current call and answer new call.
I don't think the HD2 allows that? Only gives me option to answer new call, which leaves other call running. I end up having to ignore new call, hang up current call and call the other person back (at my cost).
I spend about 24hrs a month on the phone, so the more i can answer calls when the come in, the cheaper it is for me.
Any one know a solution.
Also side issue. I used to get appointment reminders. And if i had the persons phone number in the appointment, i could dial it from the reminder. Was great if i was running late. it seems to have disapeared, probably with an update. anyone know how to reactivate it?
anyone got any ideas?
ok still waiting for help on this.
HI all, my hd2 has a strange problem
Whenever I am in a phone conversation, and a third party dial in, there is no notification other than a beep (which is barely heard when you are in a phone call). Is this normal for your HD2?
Can you make the phone vibrate when there is a third party incoming call??
and another question related to call waiting. if i am calling smbd and that somebody is engaged in a conversation with a third person, i don;t hear in my phone any sound that would inform me that i am on hold and the person might think: WTF, is he stupid or what. any ideas?
with the forst i don't know... with the second i think it is network dependent...
and i have another one... what about when you have a number directed to yours to have a sign or somthg when the incoming call is from that number...
what i was talking about of course it's network depending, but u see, with the same SIM in a samsung or a nokia i can see the notification that i am calling when the line is occupied, with my HD2, and generally, with any other WinMo device, u cannot see it. it was discussed a lot, but i thought may be smbd have a solution already.
There is a couple of things i used to be able to do.
1- when on a call and get another call, it used to pop up an option to drop existing call and accept new call - it won't let me do that now. i have to dismiss the call then call back, or accept call and other is on hold. This is a reall problem if i call someone, they don't answer, but call back while i am leaving message. If i accept new call, the voicemail call is on hold in background.
Also when i first got my phone, the appointment reminder would display the phone number of the appointment, which made it easy to call and say i was running late. it's disapeared - maybe when i updated stock rom with updated stock rom (hong kong I believe)
Anyone know how to restore hese functions? call waiting one very important.
