I get a lot of calls, often getting calls when already on a call.
I had a TYTN II before, and it had a function that allowed me to hang up current call and answer new call.
I don't think the HD2 allows that? Only gives me option to answer new call, which leaves other call running. I end up having to ignore new call, hang up current call and call the other person back (at my cost).
I spend about 24hrs a month on the phone, so the more i can answer calls when the come in, the cheaper it is for me.
Any one know a solution.
Also side issue. I used to get appointment reminders. And if i had the persons phone number in the appointment, i could dial it from the reminder. Was great if i was running late. it seems to have disapeared, probably with an update. anyone know how to reactivate it?
anyone got any ideas?
ok still waiting for help on this.

Right chaps..... Orange UK user, WM6.
When I phone my uncle, if he's on a call (engaged) I used (with a nokia) to get a wee message saying "call waiting" (he's on orange too) But now it just rings and rings until I get his answer machine.
OFC he knows it's me, but if he's busy he aint going to drop the call he'son to swap to mine...... sooooooooooooooo
How do I get the "call waiting" message back?
please?
do a search yourself - it has been discussed a couple of times.
but as yet no one has sorted it / fixed it.
Was hoping one of the rom-cookers or reg hackers may know how it can happen, Orange "must" send a management message OTA to my phone to make it show "Call waiting", cos Nokias etc can all do it.
So has anyone got any idea about how to get it working?
Instead of letting it ring out to answer phone at the other end, would be nice to know the other person knows I am calling and that thye are on a call, gives me the oportunity to hang up rather than wait for the answer phone to cut in.
You are right about the operator must have sent such a "call waiting at other side" signal to the phone. But apparently, HTC decided that it is not important enough to warrant a notification on your cute little Trinity, and as a matter of fact, all HTC machines
I think either you swtich to Nokia/SE, or you go bug HTC for that, unless you know how to do low level stuff in the radio rom.
I'm pretty embarrassed to be asking something like this, but is there any way to nicely handle the following race condition:
1) You're talking to someone. The call drops.
2) You call them right back. The call goes straight to their voicemail, because it just so happens that they're calling YOU right now. It took a half-second or so it for you to realize what happened...
3) ... and now you just heard the call-waiting beep, and know the 'incoming call' message is going to appear on the screen in just a moment. Damn. It's too late to abort. If you hit 'end' now, it's going to decline the incoming call and leave you in their voicemail. On the other hand, if you hit 'send', it's going to keep the voicemail call active, and take the incoming call from the person.
In other words, you have two options, and both of them suck. What you REALLY want to do is kill the voicemail call, and take the incoming call.
Is there any good way to do it? Specifically on Sprint, but I'm willing to randomly try things known to work with other carriers, too, just in case it happens to work with Sprint as well.
Failing that, does the Android API expose enough of the phone to create a custom event handler that reacts to call-waiting events by comparing the number just dialed to the number on the caller ID, and if both are the same, forcibly terminate the first call and take the second?
I hate it when this happens too. I hadn't thought of a solution but it just occurred to me that pressing # ends voicemail on some carriers. Haven't tried it with Sprint yet but might be worth a shot.
Hello
When calling another person from my phone and if there are on the phone you will get call waiting as this way you now the person it on the phone.
I have tired it from another phone and it works but when i try it on htc hd2 it doesn't come up saying call waiting. Where as the person it on a call.
It was a very useful thing to have on phone. Is there a reg key i can change or cab file??
I think that if you are dialing, you do not have call waiting. This is also true for fixed lines. This is the only time your caller can get a busy tone.
But home phone nowadays operate like cell phones, and do not really send out the DTMF until you press the talk button. As a result, the dialing process beomes so quick that it does not matter much.
Alex
For example
If I am dialling your number and while you are already on another call with someone else than it will come up on my phone call waiting.
This way I now you are on the phone.
It use to work from my nokia phone but I am not sure if that option is available in winmo
There is a couple of things i used to be able to do.
1- when on a call and get another call, it used to pop up an option to drop existing call and accept new call - it won't let me do that now. i have to dismiss the call then call back, or accept call and other is on hold. This is a reall problem if i call someone, they don't answer, but call back while i am leaving message. If i accept new call, the voicemail call is on hold in background.
Also when i first got my phone, the appointment reminder would display the phone number of the appointment, which made it easy to call and say i was running late. it's disapeared - maybe when i updated stock rom with updated stock rom (hong kong I believe)
Anyone know how to restore hese functions? call waiting one very important.
I've the S4 for a little over a week, but it's been a rather busy week so I haven't given it my full attention as yet. I really like it so far, I haven't gotten all the bells and whistles to work and I'm testing battery life with them disabled vs enabled etc. But I'm not really doing much else with it yet.
The only actual issue I'm having is receiving phone calls. When someone calls me, it takes a couple rings on their end before my phone starts ringing (I've encountered this with Sprint before though) but then when I try to answer the call, I don't get the person on the other end. I get a recorded message telling me I've got an incoming call from (name of caller in my contacts list) and if I want to accept to press 1 now. The message takes so long to get to that point that by the time it tells me to press 1 to accept the call, the call goes into voicemail.
I don't receive a lot of phone calls, but I would like to be able to actually answer them when I do. As of now when someone does call me I have to call them back.
This message plays AFTER I've 'accepted' the call on the screen and it plays through the handset not the speakers. I have Google voice set up for my voicemail.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Sounds like you have google voice setup or you used to. You will have to go to the site on your pc to disable it.

I thought Google Voice had something to do with it but I didn't think of checking the settings via PC.
For anyone else with the same issue: Google.com/voice>settings>calls> call screening off.
