hi
I'm recently having a new issue and dont know what to do! when I close the Opera my HD2 slows down in about 4 minutes and then everything goes normal. I have updated to 1.66 rom...
I did some of the tweaks listed in front page of Tips and Tweaks... thread.
And there is another issue when browsing pages with opera when I double tap too zoom in or double tap too zoom out or when go to landscape mode it goes to upper side of the page and I have to search again and find the specific part of page which I was reading.
any tweaks or tricks for this issue?
thanks
You're not the only one, me too. The only way i could rectify it was to do a hard reset, which is a pain.
yes, mine's too with 1.66 ROM ehh waiting for HTC updates
I have also only recently experienced this.
Ending all tasks via Task Manager ends the lag thus avoiding soft reset.
just set cleanram to level 1 and run it every time you exit opera. snappy in 5 seconds..m
I had opera.exe staying running and using resources on exit . I had moved the cache to my (stock) 2mb sd card. I reset back to internal memory fixed it.
im not saying its specifically the cache being on the sd card, it could simply be the cache folder being rebuilt.
(I now have the cache on a ram disk and opera 9.7 flies.)
I had this problem, i had moved the opera cache to the SD card as had been suggested in the Tips & Tricks.
Once i moved it back to the phone it was fine again

Hello,
I'm user of elf (MDA Touch) and I use Onyx 3.0 ROM. When I launch Opera it's ok, but when I use it for about 15 minutes it shows a warning message, that says „the phone is low in storage memory“ or something (i think it means low RAM?). How to solve this issue?
Thanks
I too have opera 9.5. I use both the opera browser, as well as the IE browser (interchangeably). From what I see, whenever you surf web pages that has a lot of content (especially alot of images), the phone stores the data, even after closing the web pages. What I have to constantly keep doing is, delete the history, cookies & cache to free up the space, which eliminates the low memory messages, until the memory gets full again. It seems like after 4 to 5 large web pages, then I get the message of low memory. I sometimes get a critical low message (LOL).
For me, this is a big pain in the butt, and unfortunatly, I don't know any ways around it. Maybe there is a software that can monitor, and maintain a certain amount of space, to prevent this problem from happening; maybe we can start there.
Also maybe someone else could chime in with a solution.
i've seen opera running on both Elf and Elfin... it works without a glitch on the Elfin
but problems appear when i use it on Elf... same memory problems :S
we just need a good application that can free up (a loooott) of RAM...
As far as I have understood it's mainly the cache that eats up your memory. I found a way to store Opera cache on the storage card (well, I found a guide on the internet). It worked great untill I had a couple of tabs open (I guess tabs are stored in phone memory). But it helped a lot storing the cache on the storage card.

naah... tried it... same Low memory problem...
Yes! We need something that could monitor, and delete (if selected) the cache files on the fly (automatically) to maintain a certain amount of memory.

Moving cache to SD won't help much. Main problem is that Opera keeps thumbnail of page and it's full view in RAM. Wait for release of Fennec (Firefox Mobile), maybe it will work better.
Your total solution
I just found this on a thread.
www.skyfire.com
This thing even plays youtube videos directly.
I can play flash games on this browser too

Recently my Touch HD has randomly started to hang/crash forcing me to soft reset the device. Only seems to happen once or twice a day and generally when i am navigating around the TF3D interface, may be coincidence but ususally when i am navigating away from the email tab...usually for the first time in the day. I only have 50 or so emails and none of them are particularly big either.
The 3-5 second hotfix delay that HTC released doesnt work on my device....
The only thing that i have installed recently is a game ripped from the X1 but cant see it being that as others have downloaded it from Xda-developers and not had this problem so...
Can anyone suggest any fixes that wont involve a hard reset....really dont want to do that as i have the device set up how i want and the restore point i created via sprite wont work sad.gif
Pllllleeeeeeease some one help.

Posted this on MoDaCo and not had much of a response....searched all threads on here and applied a few of the fixes that are going round and still my HD is freezing. Did it while navigating away from the SMS tab the other day
I have done the following already:
Removed the emila account and reinstalled it
Set the attachments storage folder back to local mem (was on SD card)
removed all recently installed programs
cleared mailbox on phone
Deleted all sent items and deleted item in SMS (thinking there was too much mem being used)
applied a graphics fix (found on here)
changed all HD tweak settings that refer to performance back to default
removed any programs installed on SD
Can anyone provide me with a solution. really dont wat to have to Hard reset my device but starting to think that it is going to come to that
Thanks
I am facing a strange problme with HD.It runs okay for 1-2 days and after that if I try to open calendar or file explorer etc they do not open.If I try to open calendar I get the message memmory full please go to settings task manager and stop running programmes. But actually there are no progrmmes running in the background. The memory usage being shown at that moment is just 51%.I have uninstalled most of the programmes I was using and out of the ones none of them run in the back ground. So I donot understand what the problem is.The problem can only be rectified by soft reset.
Can anyone suggest solutions to this problme.
Unfortunately, I have not any suggestion for now. I just wanted to tell that I get the same issue and the same message to go to settings task manager and stop running programmes but ther is no other programm running at that time (soft reset is the only way to get rid of that).
I was wondering if it could not be related to a very big number of contacts ? Did you solve the problem ?
This may be due to you using either Opera or IE and not flushing the cache - in Opera, go to the Settings menu, click on the Privacy button and then click on the Delete Cache button. In IE, select Memory, Tools, Options then select the Memory tab and click the Delete Files button. I don't know if this will fix your problem, but I had a similar problem on previous HTC/WinMobile handsets with limited RAM and this process always helped - it's not a bad housekeeping routine either.
For me, I can't fix this problem by deleting browsers cash or any temporary files... Still the same issue, only controled by a soft reset...
Reduce memory allocation for ResProxy, it may help.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\ResProxy]
"ShareMemSize"=dword:00400000
Do a soft reset after the change.

Sorry but I don't have any ResProxy string in my [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\]...
my suggestion would be to get a new ROM quite frankly.
"Failed to set up the camera device." This has been happening on my TMO-US HD2 after a few hours of operation in the short time I've had it. Only a soft reset will fix it. Running the stock ROM with no real modifications so far. Anyone experiencing this problem?
Do a hard reset. This will wipe the phone back to the way it came from T-Mobile. You will loose anything you put on the phone.

Just found another thread suggesting that leaving Opera open in the background might cause this error. Closed Opera and, to my surprise, the camera worked again! So, my immediate problem is solved ... though why Opera should cause this error remains a mystery.
I had the same issue. Turn the phone off and turn it back on. No need to hard reset
Out of memory i think, ofter happen with heavy ram program, like opera, windows media player.. shame to have 448 mb of ram
it is because of Opera...I had the same problem a couple of time when the camera or camcorder could not start so I just searched the forum and found this thread. I just tried opening opera and leaving it in the background while i start the camera. Voala! It did not work. As soon as I closed Opera, the camera was back to normal.! They should add this thread to the tweaks or something so people know... Thank you guys! Tha helped me a lot!
Opera10 does something weird with virtual memory (or pagepool) where it allocates TOO much. Opera10 also blocks iGo8 and a number of other apps also.
is there any fix for this? its a bit wearysome to have to restart the fone everytime i want to take a foto when i have been using opera.... as simply shutting opera does not work for ne... surely htc should have fixwd this by now....
Its definately Opera 10. The memory allocation is too high for some reason.
well, im jst running stock opera 9.7 and i still get the problem...
Sounds like you are out of system memory. Try uninstalling some apps or move them over to the storage card. I had the same problem as Opera10's epic cache was eating up my system memory. Cleaning out the YouTube folder also gave me another 100MB.
Got this problem with palringo, when i tried to share a picture, then my camera had this issue. Restart the phone and it should be alright...
ive sorted it out now by moving some apps (installed thru market place!) to the storage card uskng sktools now all ok!
I am having the same issue now..
its is showing the main memory details like this
STORAGE PROGRAM
total:312 mb 173 mb
in use:31mb 85 mb
free:283 mb 89 mb
Any clue why is it happening ??
pls help me guys

By the sounds of it, it isn't HTC at fault, but Opera's developers.
Have you tried cleanRAM? That should blitz the RAM and stop you needing to reboot.
have been getting the same problem. need to reset everyday! I have closed Opera and always clean up. but, not working. anyone ?
somebody also said it has something to do with the extra camera formats turned on in bsb tweaks guys, i have turned them off and opened opera 10 and camera works
Installing fennec browser (firefox mobile) caused my camera to quit working - only fix for it is hard reset - tried it several times with the same result.
mine happens upon installation of swype
Finally I managed to take my phone to customer service center, they reinstalled the OS but the result was same. So thy confirmed it as a motherboard problem and thy took a couple of days to replace it with new motherboard. Luckly I was under warrenty, now my camera is workking fine
As soon as i purchased my HD2 i did various things to improve performance and reduce phone memory usage.
One of those was to move the opera cache onto the sd card, i've been using it like that for a few months.
But i have noticed that if i quit opera the phone will be very sluggish for a few mins after i've quit the app. Looking at the processes i can see opera running 100% cpu. I'd guess it's opera cleaning up the cache on the sd card.
After i disabled the HTC Album Cache the other day i realised i have a plenty of free phone memory so decided to swap the cache back to the default location. Not only did this solve the 100% cpu after quit problem it also speeded up browsing and rendering of pages.
If anyone else has moved the cache to the external card and the card is a slow one you might want to consider moving it back to the phone memory.
One other thing i fixed was sluggish text input on some forums/websites, i found this was due to lots of animated slimies/emoticons. There is an option in the opera:config to disable animation which stops animated gif's from playing and solved my sluggish text input problem. It also had the added benefit of stopping adverts that use animated gifs.
I'm using stock rom 1.66WWE, your milage may vary.
you may want to consider running your opera cache from a RAM disk.
This has the advantage of not eating into your storage memory and also being even faster than using the rom memory for cache

see this post for details of installing ramdisk and some ideas of what can be done with it
nice idea, thanks for the tip... i'll probably leave minw as it is now, can see a ramdisk would work even better though
