Everytime I turn my xda on it won't get past the Windows Mobile splash screen.
Everything was fine until I installed a copy of Netfront that I had aquired (yes, I know it's my own fault for using cracked/copied software). Anyway the install went OK, it said I needed to restart, so I did, but now it doesn't get past the splash screen.
I'm thinking that if I can access the files stored on the xda then I might be able to remove enough of the traces of Netfront that it'll at least startup properly.
Is there anyway that I can access the files stored on my xda without needing to start up windows?
Finally someone with the same problem that me. Try tap the screen continuosly (every 4 seconds) when the splash screen appears then the system will boot up. let me know if works because we have to find the cause of that.
wow it worked cheers
Uninstalled Netfront and everything's back to normal
But the problem persists, it's nothing to do with Netfront. I believe you have a lot of app's installed, is it true ? I have Phonealarm, SBSH iLauncer, SBSH Pocketweather, Alarmtoday and Inesoft Address Book as today plugins. And you ?
I've got a fair few app's installed but no today plugins.
All I know is I installed Netfront and everything screwed up, I uninstall it and everything's back to normal so I'm happy.
Perhaps you should try uninstalling app's/plugins one by one and do a soft reset each time. At least you may be able to narrow it down to a problem with one particular app.
Done it ... Trust me you'l have the same problem when you'll install another application (not only with netfront). The question is why ?
Damn, you're right
Just installed Minimo, did a soft reset and it's back to sqaure one
How much Storage/Program memory left do you have ? I have 19MB/17MB
Storage 13MB
Program 23MB
Do you use smartskey/omapclock tweak ? i use omapclock with 264MHz
Nobody else has this issue ?
Don't use any of those
Everything's pretty much standard apart from registry wizard and a few app's installed
ok guys i have this same exact problem but the thing is it happend for no reason
one day i just turned on my phone and it was doing it it only starts after hours of messing with it i dont know why i havent installed or changed anything
Hey guys,
My TF3D keeps crashing and restarting out of its own, rendering it useless. It starts up for about 5 secs in which it works, then it crashes again and then it starts itself up again.
I even hard resetted my device but it still keeps doing it.
I have the Xtreme HD rom 1.8 from Dutty installed on it.
-- I'm currently hard resetting the device again.
Could it perhaps be that a program in my memory card is causing this? I have like 6 programs there (normal ones, not tweaking programs.)
Thanks in advance

I have the same problem. I have discoverd that my contacts is causing this.
The problem also occures in the stock rom on my old Diamond, and there the Pciture data of a contact somehow was corrupted after being synced with the adressbook of OSX. Removing the pictures and editing them directly on the phone solved the problem then. I have yet to tried this on my Blackstone as all my contacts (200+) have pictures associated with them and i canĀ“t bother to remove all of them.
Oh darn your right! I'm running on a Macbook Pro (OSX) aswell and it started after I synced using The Missing Sync.
--
I fixed it now by deleting all contacts in adressbook and the HD by manually inputting them =].
Thanks a lot!
The problem is mentioned on the first page of dutty's rom thread. There is a cab file in the downloaded rom folder to try and fix it but it did not work for me and my Macbook. I ended up copy/pasting a fake .jpg file to 131 contacts in Address Book and then syncing. It did not take as long as I thought it would and everything worked great after that.
I was having the same problem. Thanks for the solution!
This sucks. Everything was going great but for someone reason lately, I am having trouble turning on my XV6800 from standby. Some times I have to hit the power button more then once. Or wait for a couple of seconds then it turns on. It is not dependent on the power button, because when I switched it to turn on when any button is on, it still won't turn on. What does get it out for good is if there is a call or a text that wakes its self up. But other times the power button works great.
I would love to solve this problem! I used SKTools to see what is running as soon as I hit the power button and hit it again to turn on. Both TimeWizard.exe and shell32.exe are at hundred for that second. Is that ok/normal? Have any suggestings before I hard reset?
If I do hard reset, I am wondering if instead of going to MR1 I should go with a WM6.5 rom. Is it really more trouble then its worth? I get about 21 of 22MB at startup (aftering clearing ram in beginning). What's the average for WM6.5 with the titan? I rather fix my problem and not hard reset, hate to reinstall all the software and do all the registry hacks all over again.
edit: Looks like this is an issue (a lot of people had it) that cannot be solved without hard reseting. So I still need to decide what route (MR1 or WM6.5) to go with...
I personally like 6.5. With the inclusion of a tool called nueKernel, many ROMs will boot with up to 28ish MB of RAM in high memory mode on a fresh install. In low memory mode, it's usually between 20 and 22. High memory mode, if you aren't aware, temporarily disables the camera. Low memory mode enables the camera. You can switch back and forth easily using a setting in your System menu.
Also, make note of any tools you currently use on your Today screen. Any third party additions may not exist for the new Titanium layout. There are a bunch of new add-ins for it that will most likely do everything that you need, but do some poking around first. You can also use the older today screen on 6.5 if you can't find what you need for Titanium, but that ruins a lot of the fun.
Since you use SKTools, you can also easily export any registry tweaks you put in, and re-import them on whichever ROM you decide to use. It's fairly easy.
There are a number of ROMs to choose from between XDA and ppcgeeks. Read some of the comments and check out what the chef includes. It will be pretty different than the official Verizon ROM you are used to, but that's usually a good thing. I currently use bbsandkm's 6.5 ROM from ppcgeeks, but that's personal preference. Ryan and TPLane here on XDA make some amazing ROMs that you can use, too.
But before you flash to any non-official ROM, please make sure you read up on the guides to do it properly. It's really pretty simple, but you need to just follow the directions.
Is the around 20MB the amount with Titanium? I love HTC Home since I can use the Today calendar. All these new plugins never show the complete day of apointments.
Yeah I would have to do some reading before I even consider. I do know I would have to downgrade to the original 6.0 OS before going custom. Would I have to go back to 6.0 again and then 6.1 if I decide I don't like 6.5? Already getting scared just thinking about it lol.

In high memory mode after installing all my programs, I start with between 25 and 26 meg free. That is using Titanium.
The only reason (I think) that you'd need to downgrade to 6.0 is if your GPS does not work after your upgrade. And no, you wouldn't need to re-install 6.1 during the process.
Downgrade is necessary if you have a pri of 2.03xx and want gps to work on your custom rom.
I got so sick of this problem I just hard resetted and went for MR1. I will switch to WM6.5 maybe later in the future.
However, I notice my Titan did it again today! It barely has anything on it right now. So I am guessing my memory card might be the problem. So much stuff on it (its a 16GB) like portable apps, every cab I have ever downloaded etc. That's my only guess. Would a memory card be causing this problem?

What you are experiencing is a DSOD (dark screen of death). Usually its because of something installed to your storage card that is always running(not good, things like that need installed to device memory). Also make sure you have no .exe's in the 2577 folder on storage card (if you have the folder).
Here are some possible examples of DSOD's
Disable the automatic ActiveSync checking. This is the official solution from Verizon Data Technical Support.
Do not install software on the storage card that might trigger automatically. That means: Absolutely no today plug-ins, no ring tones, nothing that runs in the background, and nothing that could accidentally be triggered if you hit one of the buttons of your device.
Do not store data that might be accessed automatically. Same thing. Basically, do not store mail attachments on the storage card if you have wireless sync.
Close programs that use the storage card before turning your device off. Magic Button is an excellent tool to do this.
If you do install programs on the storage card, do NOT use the "Programs" window or the start menu to start them. Instead, use a File Explorer to run them. If you use "Programs" or the start menu, that program will be in your list of recently accessed applications in the start menu. So the next time you turn your device on and click on the start menu, the system will access your storage card to load the icon of the application - this will create a noticeable delay of several seconds, if not DSOD.
Don't randomly install crap. Every single piece of software you install could interfere with your system. Limit the software you install to what you really need. Check the forums, some people named a few programs that explicitly did not work for them.
I hope this helps you out.
Wow thanks, that helps a lot!
edit: Not my day. Don't ask me why but I decided to clean some registry after cleaning up my card. Well I deleted something that effects me to not see the verizon mobile site. I posted about it before here. At least now I know what I did wrong with that problem. Anyway, if I were to hard reset, will it revert back to a clean MR1 with all the Verizon stuff? So far I have been just reinstalling MR1 which does it all. The reason I ask is I hate to wait until tonight to do this again. Thanks guys.

Wow, you learn something new every day! Amazing writeup.
It happened again last night but I am thinking it might be caused by the latest SKTools. But not sure since I had it almost a month before this happened. I might go all day without it and see if that is the case. Then if it is the I will get the lower version.
Also, I am going crazy here, which registry edit is to take away the keyboard lag? I cannot remember if it had to do with increasing the gyphe or whatever maybe taking away the speed of the keyboard when it lights up. I just cannot remember. I looked at tons of posts here and PPcgeeks but still cannot find or figure out which one did it. Thanks guys. I need to seriously remember these registry hacks for next time.
ok: it was not SKtools. I put it back on. I decided to wipe my memory card clean and start over. So far so good! Now I will have time to find some registry edits.
my HD2 is driving me nuts..its becoming very unresponsive...need to soft reset it all the time..have not more than one app running at any given time..have around 3000 messages and using the SMS function is driving me even more crazy..typing each character takes too much time.have the latest ROM and the hot fixes.use BsB tweaks,Cookies tab.please help/advice.should i perform a hard reset?the mob is three months old.
regards and thanks in advance!
If you recently installed lots of apps, then that is probably the main cause. Check out how much space you have left on your phone (not the card). If there's nothing running in the taskmanager, you could try and delete some files from the phone's memory. If nothing works, just backup (wither manually or using one of the apps available, such as SPB Backup) and hard reset the phone.
As for the SMS issue, I think there is a fix for that somewhere around here. If you don`t find it, just search for a cab which disables the HTC Messaging app. The winmo version works better, even if it looks nastier.
Hi, You could try cleanRAM to tidy up any memory leak probelms, it's noted on XDA in a few places (I got it from frewarepocketpc.net). I have heard that there is a .cab available to disable HTC Messaging but I prefer tidying up my messages by backing up to Microsoft Myphone and deleting the local copies daily. Yes, HTC failed in my opinion but this seems to work for me.
Regards.

Installed apps go into storage mem so deleting them won't have any effect.
If operating RAM gets low then it will have an effect but its nothing to do with what you have installed.
Its about what is running or otherwise hogging the operating RAM and people have plugged through this time and again.
The ROM you are running has an effect as has various system caches.
Branded ROMs come with all sorts of clutter and junk and finding a clean lite ROM and flashing that will assist immeasurably.
Regular closing (properly!) running apps and using something like CleanRam all helps as well.
The HD2 is a cutting edge piece of kit and it its possible to get it to fly and be very stable.
Hi all,
This is actually my second HD2 handset.
I'm with Virgin & my original was faulty, got this one as a replacement on Friday.
However, I strongly suspect it's a reconditioned unit, as I can't really use it, if I'm honest.
Anytime I install anything - even when I try to specify to SD Card - it comes up with the system memory critical error, and then I get a memory error that flashes up every time I try to do anything on the phone.
When I go into remove programs there's nothing there that sets off alarm bells, and I can't think of anything that *I* know of to cause this problem.
My only thought is that the unit has something installed somewhere, possibly hidden, that's eaten up all the memory?
It's driving me mental, but I wanted some advice before I complain to virgin again as they are being reluctant to change it again or give me a different make/model of phone.
Oh, since Friday I've done 4 factory resets on this due to the above problem.
Once was because I was trying SPB shell but it installed the the phone even though I specified the card. Bizzarely, after removing SPB, I've gotten stuck with "windows blue" on the top & bottom bars & it won't uninstall.
Any thoughts or advice very welcome.
Not sure what else you'd need info wise - I have the default rom version etc that was on the handset when I got it on Friday (up to date for Virgin) and all I've tried to put on is cookies home tab & some better icons etc.
Thanks in advance
HD 2 Low memory
Hi,
Use the search button in the upper right corner. There are a lot of threads covering this problem.
Basically, it should be enough to move the Opera and the HTC album cache to the storage card.
Also check the Youtube cache.
Follow tips #65 & #67: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=583638
To move the album cache, search for the cab named "HTCAlbum%20CacheMod2". Before that you have to install "SdkCerts".
Hope this helps.
Yup, yup.
Please search from now on...
And my advice is to find yourself a system cleaning application such as, Memory Maid, or Pocket Mechanic...
Use it to run a cache clear and RAM reclaim every so often...
No offence guys, but I did search on memory issues, but was getting pages of stuff & I needed a quick fix as I'm going back to my mobile provider to complain.
As it happens, my HD2 actually has around 100Mb LESS internal memory than it should have in total, so something is very wrong.
I think I'll just tell them where to shove the handset as I've had nothing but problems on two seperate handsets in 2 months now.
Thanks for the cleaning tips, it's appreciated despite my handset being faulty.
