This sucks. Everything was going great but for someone reason lately, I am having trouble turning on my XV6800 from standby. Some times I have to hit the power button more then once. Or wait for a couple of seconds then it turns on. It is not dependent on the power button, because when I switched it to turn on when any button is on, it still won't turn on. What does get it out for good is if there is a call or a text that wakes its self up. But other times the power button works great.
I would love to solve this problem! I used SKTools to see what is running as soon as I hit the power button and hit it again to turn on. Both TimeWizard.exe and shell32.exe are at hundred for that second. Is that ok/normal? Have any suggestings before I hard reset?
If I do hard reset, I am wondering if instead of going to MR1 I should go with a WM6.5 rom. Is it really more trouble then its worth? I get about 21 of 22MB at startup (aftering clearing ram in beginning). What's the average for WM6.5 with the titan? I rather fix my problem and not hard reset, hate to reinstall all the software and do all the registry hacks all over again.
edit: Looks like this is an issue (a lot of people had it) that cannot be solved without hard reseting. So I still need to decide what route (MR1 or WM6.5) to go with...
I personally like 6.5. With the inclusion of a tool called nueKernel, many ROMs will boot with up to 28ish MB of RAM in high memory mode on a fresh install. In low memory mode, it's usually between 20 and 22. High memory mode, if you aren't aware, temporarily disables the camera. Low memory mode enables the camera. You can switch back and forth easily using a setting in your System menu.
Also, make note of any tools you currently use on your Today screen. Any third party additions may not exist for the new Titanium layout. There are a bunch of new add-ins for it that will most likely do everything that you need, but do some poking around first. You can also use the older today screen on 6.5 if you can't find what you need for Titanium, but that ruins a lot of the fun.
Since you use SKTools, you can also easily export any registry tweaks you put in, and re-import them on whichever ROM you decide to use. It's fairly easy.
There are a number of ROMs to choose from between XDA and ppcgeeks. Read some of the comments and check out what the chef includes. It will be pretty different than the official Verizon ROM you are used to, but that's usually a good thing. I currently use bbsandkm's 6.5 ROM from ppcgeeks, but that's personal preference. Ryan and TPLane here on XDA make some amazing ROMs that you can use, too.
But before you flash to any non-official ROM, please make sure you read up on the guides to do it properly. It's really pretty simple, but you need to just follow the directions.
Is the around 20MB the amount with Titanium? I love HTC Home since I can use the Today calendar. All these new plugins never show the complete day of apointments.
Yeah I would have to do some reading before I even consider. I do know I would have to downgrade to the original 6.0 OS before going custom. Would I have to go back to 6.0 again and then 6.1 if I decide I don't like 6.5? Already getting scared just thinking about it lol.

In high memory mode after installing all my programs, I start with between 25 and 26 meg free. That is using Titanium.
The only reason (I think) that you'd need to downgrade to 6.0 is if your GPS does not work after your upgrade. And no, you wouldn't need to re-install 6.1 during the process.
Downgrade is necessary if you have a pri of 2.03xx and want gps to work on your custom rom.
I got so sick of this problem I just hard resetted and went for MR1. I will switch to WM6.5 maybe later in the future.
However, I notice my Titan did it again today! It barely has anything on it right now. So I am guessing my memory card might be the problem. So much stuff on it (its a 16GB) like portable apps, every cab I have ever downloaded etc. That's my only guess. Would a memory card be causing this problem?

What you are experiencing is a DSOD (dark screen of death). Usually its because of something installed to your storage card that is always running(not good, things like that need installed to device memory). Also make sure you have no .exe's in the 2577 folder on storage card (if you have the folder).
Here are some possible examples of DSOD's
Disable the automatic ActiveSync checking. This is the official solution from Verizon Data Technical Support.
Do not install software on the storage card that might trigger automatically. That means: Absolutely no today plug-ins, no ring tones, nothing that runs in the background, and nothing that could accidentally be triggered if you hit one of the buttons of your device.
Do not store data that might be accessed automatically. Same thing. Basically, do not store mail attachments on the storage card if you have wireless sync.
Close programs that use the storage card before turning your device off. Magic Button is an excellent tool to do this.
If you do install programs on the storage card, do NOT use the "Programs" window or the start menu to start them. Instead, use a File Explorer to run them. If you use "Programs" or the start menu, that program will be in your list of recently accessed applications in the start menu. So the next time you turn your device on and click on the start menu, the system will access your storage card to load the icon of the application - this will create a noticeable delay of several seconds, if not DSOD.
Don't randomly install crap. Every single piece of software you install could interfere with your system. Limit the software you install to what you really need. Check the forums, some people named a few programs that explicitly did not work for them.
I hope this helps you out.
Wow thanks, that helps a lot!
edit: Not my day. Don't ask me why but I decided to clean some registry after cleaning up my card. Well I deleted something that effects me to not see the verizon mobile site. I posted about it before here. At least now I know what I did wrong with that problem. Anyway, if I were to hard reset, will it revert back to a clean MR1 with all the Verizon stuff? So far I have been just reinstalling MR1 which does it all. The reason I ask is I hate to wait until tonight to do this again. Thanks guys.

Wow, you learn something new every day! Amazing writeup.
It happened again last night but I am thinking it might be caused by the latest SKTools. But not sure since I had it almost a month before this happened. I might go all day without it and see if that is the case. Then if it is the I will get the lower version.
Also, I am going crazy here, which registry edit is to take away the keyboard lag? I cannot remember if it had to do with increasing the gyphe or whatever maybe taking away the speed of the keyboard when it lights up. I just cannot remember. I looked at tons of posts here and PPcgeeks but still cannot find or figure out which one did it. Thanks guys. I need to seriously remember these registry hacks for next time.
ok: it was not SKtools. I put it back on. I decided to wipe my memory card clean and start over. So far so good! Now I will have time to find some registry edits.

What is up with the memory drain on this device. I'll start the day with 24mb of memory (soft reset) and only have 10mb or less at the end of the day with no apps but activesync running. Has anyone less notice this?

Yea I get the same problem. Except I start off with about 20 and end up with as low as 9 before i'm forced to soft reset.
Its the magic of the Mogul's memory leak. The old rom and new rom feature it so untill a new update comes out, were stuck with it.
Does the Hermes and Kaiser have the same issue? They seem to be similar. They other thing is that the WM6 is suppose to have made those apps that leak in previous versions run at the kernel level.
my titan doesnt have the issue. its an app you've got installed. hard reset and dont install anything, you wont have the problem. troubleshooting 101. dont blame the titan.
I posted this on another forum discussing this problem, so I'll just quote myself here:
The memory "leak" thing is nothing more than a cache "optimization" in place to make the device respond snappier.
Whether it succeeds or not is another story altogether...
Basically, like any cache, it stores recent calculations for faster response later. For example, if you open and close IE alot, you might notice that the first time you open it on a fresh restart takes a little bit longer than the next times- that's because the second time you start it up, parts of it are still in memory from the first time!
You might be wondering why this happens even after forcing it closed with Xbutton or the memory settings. That's because the info stored in the performance cache aren't directly related to any one program! Many apps can use the same routines and calculations, and therefore this process exists on a processor/file system layer as opposed to a software layer, and therefore also exists even when all programs are closed!
Meaning, if I have mapopolis that uses a certain routine to access my BT GPS receiver, even after I close it, some of that routine stays in memory because perhaps Google Maps will use the same routine, and therefore respond faster!
Now, ideally, this should speed up performance, and it SHOULD disappear on its own if the memory is needed and the information goes "stale" (hasn't been processed in a while = not really needed for optimized perfomance). However, one look at the way Microsoft handles "automatically closing apps" (native X button, anyone?) is enough to know that WM can't manage its own memory very well.
I can, however, vouch for the fact that the longer you leave all programs closed, the more of your memory starts to creep back into available. I've sat and watched this happen. So, it sort of works, but perhaps not well enough if people are having low memory system crash problems.
Now, before you all start blaming MS for this... Its not Microsoft's problem. They developed CE-5 (which WM6 is based on) on machines limited to 32MB to make sure the programmers didn't get lazy with OS bloat.
Its the manufacturers who add all this file system optimization and stuff to their final device. In this case, its the way HTC thinks the system should run, which is why this anomaly is NOT as apparent on, say, a WM Treo device.
The good news is that if we complain enough, HTC might realize this optimization does more bad than good, and leave it out on the next ROM update for us.
However, truth be told, I think it works. The Mogul is one of the snappiest PPC's I've used of late, although I can't say for sure if its because of the cache or not.
This is just my personal opinion, so don't flog me! I just don't look at the memory useage anymore unless I'm having a problem, which mind you, I hardly do.
My most recent observations were this:
Soft reset gives me ~21MB (got some htc plugins), and after a day of use, making sure to close everything after I'm done, I get 18-19MB. At lowest, I hit 10MB after closing alot of apps. This memory usually comes back to 18-19mb in a matter of time for me. If for some strange reason it doesn't (can't say how often this happens), I soft reset.
All in all, I'm happy with the Mogul.

I wasn't blaming the Titan directly, although I wish they would allow you to adjust the memory like they have in the past. But as I've read that may having something to do with chipset of battery consumption.
I was just wondering if others had the same issue and might know of the reason.
Is there a list of known apps that cause memory 'drain' or don't clear their cache. I can understand apps caching data into memory to run faster, but they are not cleaning themselves out upon exit. The strange thing is how they continue to grow over the course of the day with no interaction.
I'm doing a hard reset to see if it get better. Add apps one at a time until I find an issue.
Ok did a hard reset. Setup Outlook to get my mail from Exchange and Gmail. Let it get synced and then did a soft reset. Started with 24mb after reset, down to 21mb without doing anything after an hour and it's still falling. The only thing running is ActiveSync. I've also removed htc_cm_guardain and ssdaemon from the startup. The only thing in startup is poutlook.
The thing I noticed when I had handyswitcher installed (before hard reset) was that filesys, device, gwes, services, shell and cprog all continously increased there memory consumption over the course of a few hours and never stopped or released it.

No no no... the reason you used to be able to select storage vs RAM was because it was SHARED memory! It was actually all RAM. If you had a 64MB device, that 64mb was split between ram and storage, and just like the rest of your RAM, it would wipe out when the battery died!
Ever since WM5 came along, they stopped sharing the memory, and now have dedicated RAM and Storage (using the leftover space on the EPROM chips used for the ROM image), much like a computer. This is a much better solution since you don't sacrifice your RAM for storing some large files, and you don't have to worry about battery failure cleaning you out!
Also, its not the apps that have cache, its the file system. The file system WILL actually free up some of that memory as the device is left with all apps closed for a while (maybe not all of it, but I've watched my device go from 11mb free after closing stuff to 18-19mb).
You guys need to hit the easy button on this one! It may not be a permanent fix, but there's a small freeware called Oxios Hibernate that releases RAM. I just put it on my start menu and 2 clicks....I have free RAM. Try it out, you won't be disappointed.
bam, thanks for the info... that little app rocks.
use a file explorer and go to \Windows\Startup. There is a shortcut there for a program along the lines of HTC_Guardian_cmsomething. This app is a htc app used to enforce sprint settings and runs in the background. So long as you don't destroy your phone internet settings you can just remove the shortcut. I found all my memory leak issues have gone away. I don't have any leaks when using the kaiser tab plugin.
Yes I've removed the links for HTC_Guardian and SSDaemon from startup and added them to my settings folder (if I ever need them). I soft reset to around 25mb and the Oxios Hibernate app keeps me around 24.5mb.
what does SDdaemon do?
sddaemon is suppose to be the speed dial or voice command app you get when you hit the button on the left side with the talk bubble. It loads the app if you hit the button, so I'm not sure why they have it in startup.
On my old Treo 700W, which REALLY had a memory problem, I used Oxios hibernate all the time. It works quite well.
yes, it works.

you know what might help...if windows mobile had some sorta sorta disk caching feature...
that's what is causing the memory leak.

Hi,
I used the delete my 5 faves cab, and I understand that it just stops the program from running. I have noticed that my faves takes up a lot of program memory. Is it safe to remove the my fave 5 apps from my wing? Also what programs do I remove in order to get rid of my 5 faves completely?
I have also tried to remove My Documents\Icons and it says that it is part of the system file and may damage the system if I remove. Is this safe? I assume that the icons (family, friends, sports, etc) are part of the my 5 faves apps.
I have searched the forums and the internet for an anwser so I can delete these items without any worries. So far I can't find a solid anwser that makes me comfortable. I am still pretty new to all this. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
It's kinda baked into the rom that tmo gives you. I suggest that you flash one of the ROMS in our rom development section
Thanks for the reply. I think that i have already spent way too much time messing around with my wing for now. I have HTC home installed, lots of registry tweaks and cabs. I also have opera installed (thanks for all the non replys) j/k. Im pretty happy with how my wing is set up for the time being. I would like to use it as is for now, and probably start messing around with roms at a later time, when I get tired of what I have.
If it is not safe to get rid of the 5 faves, what about the icons? When you go to file explorer/my device/my documents/my icons, there are four folders(Buddies, Family, Fun, Sports) with images in them. I would like to delete them and maybe free up about 2m of program memory. When I try to delete, it states that the file is a system file. "If you remove it, your device or one of your programs may no longer work correctly". I think that it would be ok, because they are just images, but I don't want to risk anything unless i'm totally sure. Any expert advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
you're freeing up STORAGE memory, not program memory. ROM not RAM. Anyway, if you used the delete myfaves cab, it won't run.
If the files are baked directly into the rom, you can delete them but they will restore on the next reset
Jeez, thanks for not being such a jerk about it. It's not like im trying to be mean. Did i mention that i was pretty new to this? I'm sure you never made a mistake in your entire life.
"If the files are baked directly into the rom, you can delete them but they will restore on the next reset"
If you had said this first, instead of, "It's kinda baked into the rom that tmo gives you." It would have been a lot more clear to a noob. So instead of getting irritated at my lack of knowledge, I think your lack of an explanation is what made thing harder.
But thanks anyways (filled with sarcasm to make things more clear).
no no no. i'm not trying to be a jerk (yes i get the sarcasm)
there is a distinct and important difference between storage and program memory. and i assumed you knew about the sys files.
Yeah, im sorry for being so defensive. Im just tired of running into so many mean spirited people online that i automatically think the worst. It's so suprising at just how mean a lot of people really are.
Anyways, i do know the diffrence between storage and program memory. I just got it mixed up. I also know the difference between Rom and Ram, but i did a lot of drugs when i was a teenager. Thanks for the info about the system files. I just learned something new today (with no hint of sarcasm).
The only work around I came across without flashing was this reg edit which turns it "off". First back ur regisrty settings using a app like "sprite backup" because u may have a problem with ur "faves" showing in ur call logs after disabling it. After editing ur registry make a few test calls to & from ur faves to see if they were logged. If they didnt restore ur settings & try again. For me it work but afew times at the start of my bill cycle a ota was sent which reactivated it. I just disabled it again.
HKLM > SOFTWARE > HTC > My5 > SMSC > CmdGet > StateRequest
Open value ClientService and change the value from 1 to 0.
edit: Disabling/deleting the "myfave" files doesnt hurt anything. All my 5 numbers have been logged correctly since I disabled it. It also worked without problems when I was using a custom rom. From the commercials I thought I would like it but its slows the phone even more & eye sore especially on phones with smaller screens.
is there any way to have it in a cab like that it will work with a cooked rom bc i will love to have myfave work with a manilla rom
You guys are genious. I need serious help. First I have a services.exe error everytime I shut off or soft reset. Any one know what to do or if it even matters.
Second all this talk about running things and saving space. I need more memory saving. I don't have a clue what I really need and what I can get rid off to save oh ram. or hard drive memory too. Please tell me exactly what to do.
NExt on my HTC Imagio I want to run SBP mobile shell but I want to run TF3 too because I like the weather start up on it and I can't get to it with spb shell running someone talked about it but I can't figure out what to do based on what I read, I want to start up TF3 and then hit a button to go to shell. ANy one know how to do itl Also I have Pocket Mechanic and all kinds of tools but not SK Tools. I have Vitual Espolorer cuz I thought that would help me ID files but now that I can ID them I doh't know what I need and what I don;t. If I get SK Tools will it help me know what to do. Nothing comes with a manual anynmore. I need a detailed manual for the phone and how it works not what it does. Can anyone answer these with esplicit directions cuz I don;t know a .dll from anything else. I only know that an exe runs something, So Im really dumb about all this. ANyone know how to help. It 2:30 AM and I;ve been up all night for a week trying to figure out things on this phone. So far I like it a lot but the more I add the slower I get and I might want to add more. HELP!!!!!! Going crazy.....
OK, that's a whole lot for anyone to try to process. First things first, what's your biggest problem? The best way to get help is to knock down the issues one at a time.
The first problem is I have a services.exe error every time I turn the phone on after it's been off or any time I reset it. That's first
Based on a little Googling, it looks like the only fix for a services.exe error is a hard reset. I pasted the info on a hard reset below for you:
This will wipe all data off the phone and restore factory default settings.
1. While the phone is off, press and hold Volume Down + Talk/Send + End/Power.
2. When the device displays a message about wiping the data, release all 3 buttons.
3. Press Volume Up to complete the hard reset.

I don't know what programs you are trying to move, listen, just forget moving programs, back up or your files via myphone or use activesync to store everything you want on your computer. When you perform a hard reset either by the method listed or by going to Start->settings->all settings->system->memory then selecting clear storage tab, letting win mo come back up and customize then before you do anything when it restarts, hard reset again, for some reason this helps the functionality of native software. Then immediately take care of the tv icon, proxy mem. tweak, and nopifix. Then what ever you need to install try to install to your sd card via downloading from this xda site for cab files or doing a little google searching rather than installing directly from market place. EXCEPTION: DO NOT INSTALL TWEAKS TO SD CARD OR ITEMS THAT ROTATE THE SCREEN. Keep all the cab files on your pc or on your storage card so that you have them whenever you decide to hard reset or flash your device. I must not have my activcesnyc set up right because the only thing it backsup is my contacts, email, journal and a file folder full of what ever I want to but in that folder but thats snyc with my docs on my devic and I don't want to over load it. When I had a palm it used to back everythng up to a file on my computr and I could just reinstall but this windows stuff doesn't seem to do it. How do I set up active sync to sync everythi ng on my devide and card to back up to my computer.? Ans I don't have a clue what you were talking aabout when you said take care of your tv and those other files, not a clue. I have mobil shell on my phone is that what your taling about not having on the phoen. You need to talk like your talking to a 12 year old when your explaining this stuff to me. Thanks. L

Hey you said something about getting rid of the tv icon and other stuff after a hard reset, but never explained in detail. plz help, thx
After weeks of zero issues (aside from memory leak), I just got a barrage of services.exe errors this morning. Phone was throwing error after error even after a soft reset. After three soft resets it's finally working now (after another services.exe error). I didn't make a single change to my configuration though so I'm a big perplexed as to why these just started showing up now. I was really starting to get content with my Imagio too...sigh.
my HD2 is driving me nuts..its becoming very unresponsive...need to soft reset it all the time..have not more than one app running at any given time..have around 3000 messages and using the SMS function is driving me even more crazy..typing each character takes too much time.have the latest ROM and the hot fixes.use BsB tweaks,Cookies tab.please help/advice.should i perform a hard reset?the mob is three months old.
regards and thanks in advance!
If you recently installed lots of apps, then that is probably the main cause. Check out how much space you have left on your phone (not the card). If there's nothing running in the taskmanager, you could try and delete some files from the phone's memory. If nothing works, just backup (wither manually or using one of the apps available, such as SPB Backup) and hard reset the phone.
As for the SMS issue, I think there is a fix for that somewhere around here. If you don`t find it, just search for a cab which disables the HTC Messaging app. The winmo version works better, even if it looks nastier.
Hi, You could try cleanRAM to tidy up any memory leak probelms, it's noted on XDA in a few places (I got it from frewarepocketpc.net). I have heard that there is a .cab available to disable HTC Messaging but I prefer tidying up my messages by backing up to Microsoft Myphone and deleting the local copies daily. Yes, HTC failed in my opinion but this seems to work for me.
Regards.

Installed apps go into storage mem so deleting them won't have any effect.
If operating RAM gets low then it will have an effect but its nothing to do with what you have installed.
Its about what is running or otherwise hogging the operating RAM and people have plugged through this time and again.
The ROM you are running has an effect as has various system caches.
Branded ROMs come with all sorts of clutter and junk and finding a clean lite ROM and flashing that will assist immeasurably.
Regular closing (properly!) running apps and using something like CleanRam all helps as well.
The HD2 is a cutting edge piece of kit and it its possible to get it to fly and be very stable.
This thread is for those of you who have already got the MR2 update and would like to report any bugs, features etc. This thread will make it easier to follow up and find any similarities. Also to find fixes faster then digging through different threads.
Please DO NOT post "Oh I haven't gotten this patch yet","WTF it's not up yet","Installing it now" etc...
Please post anything you have noticed or would like to share about MR2 here.
I have the Swedish version of MR2, these are my observations.
(1) I noticed as well that when the device is waking up, the SD Card takes a second or 2 to show up. I am sure this has to do with power management. Now this causes a slight delay when you wake up the device and can be annoying if you are like me and want "Instant response". I stated already in another thread that I had applied the "SD Card Fix" that was created for MR1. Now there is no delay and thats the way I like it, the power consumption difference is not noticeable, so I am not concerned at all that it might use 0.0..something milliamps more power. Take note, that I did not suffer memory card missing or sudden data loss problems. It just took a while for the card to pop up after start up.
(2) The GPS problem with TomTom remains, I still need GPS Gate in order to use TomTom.
FIXED! See here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6494250&postcount=14
(3) The G Sensor problem remains, I cannot use any other apps apart from SE's that work with the G Sensor, very annoying!!!
This Java -> "Water Level" app works, so maybe some other ones might. But even that one is SE's. I will check more into it later.
(4) Visual LED notifications don't seem to turn on until you wake up the device, the audio alerts are instant though.
I will update as I find more, otherwise everything else(I have tested) on this device is faster now, including SMS typing via keyboard.

EDIT:
Please note! I will no longer be working on trying to fix any bugs on the X2.
I'm sending it back and getting an X10 instead, so my efforts will shift over to Android now.
Perhaps down the road when they come up with a better OS or something, I will buy another X2. Until then, I hope others who have been helping out now will continue to do so.
Thanks for the clarification that the notification LED problem has still not been fixed. I'm afriad it might be time for me to say goodbye to my X2 as this was one of the reasons why I bought the device and if they still haven't fixed it now, it is unlikely they are ever going to.

I am sure there are more updates or fixes on the way.
Besides that, not many devices offer LED notification anyways.
Today was the first day my X2 has run superbly, I have not needed to install "Advanced Config Tool" or "SK Tools". No Stalls, no sluggish behaviour. Good battery life... I think it's on it's way to perfection. Now we only need HardSPL
im also dissapointed that theyve not bothered to fix the LED notifications. was one of the main reasons i stuck with SE. most SE phones have LED notification (which work), an immensly useful but simple feature. it worked fine on the X1. seems to be another casualty of their over zealous power management. the phone doesnt wake up when a text is received like the X1 used to. im sure someone clever can get the X2 behave as it should do either, their must be something in the registry that can be modified like the SD card fix..
^^ Yep, I am sure we can tweak this bad boy somehow...
But meanwhile.
To enable "Auto rotation"
Edit the following Registry Key. YOU WILL NEED A REGISTRY EDITOR! If you don't know what it is, don't bother with this! Just move along...
HKLM\Services\MultiService\mods\Rotation\AccelBasedRotationEnabled
Change value to "1"
This will help with many things including this -> TomTom!
To enable TomTom Rotation, go further down to AADRClients
(1) Add "New Key" Call it TomTom or whatever.
(2) In that key add new "String Value"
(3) Value name "ModuleFileName"
Value Data "\Storage Card\Program\Navigator\TomTom Navigator.exe"
(You will need to check your folders are the same, edit the text accordingly)
(4) Make sure it saved.
(5) Reboot device
(6) Start TomTom when it's loaded rotate your device left, viola!

after the install of MR2 all the data on my mammory card got corrupted. Not right away but couple of hours later. I have Generik_UK. Then i formated the card. installed the SDfix (its on this forum somewhere -> search) but i think its not everithing as it should be. the data did not get corrupred again but the micro SD sometimes is not visible in the file manager.
I also had some problems with total freezing of the phone (two times in 2 days time). that only happened when i was doing heavy usage on the camera and the picture viewing I guess the RAM got full ar something. then i deleted all the panells and the panelmanager to save some RAM. Ill let you know if it helps.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mine is still running really well, really really well. No memory card issues or sluggishness so far. I hope it stays that way.

You also need to use a Registry Editor to do what mtechfan has recommended.

Yep, I guess I should have mentioned that
instead of hardSPL to flash custom roms has anyone tried to hack the sony update program?? if it could be fooled into thinking the custom firmware is the latest firmware then get it to install it onto the phone...
For those of you not in the KNOW.
TomTom will work without installing GPSGate.
On the X2 – go to Settings/System/External GPS and change GDP9 TO COM8.
Run FASTGPS and download the latest Sat Data.
Open TomTom and change the GPS Device from Built in GPS receiver to Other NMEA GPS receiver and select COM8.
Wait a few secons for the Receiver to kick in and away you go.....
ok,can some one to test video mode, record some video and see what is the frame rate in new MR2,is it still low? or is it better then 15fps

I guess you look for Storage Card in File Explorer? What I have seen is that because of the card delay mentioned earlier the card appears at the bottom of the folders/files list and not among the folders in alphabetic order, at least on my device. Can be worth a look even though you applied the card fix and i haven't.
Two flaws:
1.
Auto lock on, display blacked out
Listening to music via slideview
Phone rings (technically speaking)
The phone vibrates and perhaps play half ringtone or just not at all.
Without the music listening the phone rings as it should, using generic ringtone so far so no storage card error here I suppose.
2.
Listening to music via slideview. Songs stored at Storage card.
Media player plays one, two, three songs and halts in the middle of a song.
Going to try a different media player to see what happens. I have not installed any yet because my favourite player, Pocket Player appears to have some compatibility issues with winmo 6.5. I know of the memcard fix and will eventually try that as well.
Was thinking of a new thread, quite the opposite of this. A "what programs works on X2 MR2". haven't installed that much yet, perhaps someone else can start
SE contact reading chinese?
Can anyone confirm if the SE contacts (not the WinMo) in MR2 can read Chinese (after installing either new fonts or localization)?
Thanks!
so i changed from GENERIC_SG to GENERIC_UK, rather time consuming but worth it IMO, but down to the nitty gritty details.
I'm still in the process of personalising it (adding my ring tones, loading old sms's etc) but from first few things i've done the speed between screens is quite phenominal
Also by accident i just found that you can move icons around ALOT easier, . BIG bonus as it doesn't mean i have to scroll all the way to the botom to find my new apps. - to do this just press down on the icon (using stylus or finger) and move it to were ever you want it.
more feedback to follow
I think this thread lost its and the thread starters intentions long ago. Its sad since it could have been a great resource. Some moderation would be apritiated.
Thanks, A.D
