[REQ] Cab for Threaded Email - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Themes and Apps

I loved threaded email in 6.5.5 builds 23xxx. M$ has gone back to non-threaded email in their 24xxx builds. Can one of our cooks package the necessary files as a cab to install on top of 24xxx or any other ROM? Many Thanks (in Advance)!

Bump anyone?

Not sure if this is required any more. All 235xx and some of the other branches (COM2?) also come with threaded email now.. Looks like it is getting more widespread.

Replacing manila 2.5 HTC messaging with Windows outlook

Hi um having serious problems after restoring my txt messages in dutty with manila 2.5 nevertheless i like manila 2.5 and the rom but i cant live with sms problem in my phone here is my rom version:
RUU_Dutty's_HD_WM6.5_Leo_2_5.2.23016.5.0.3_1.59.709.0_Radio_52.62.25.34_1.14.25.24_R2_MSVC
I had the same problem and switched back to Manila 2.1 ROM because even replacing HTC messaging against WM Messaging did not really help. You can try that in Miris Manila 2.5 ROM with WM Messaging: If one click on "send text message" on the contact card or one reply in Manila to a received text message everything hangs because Manila tries to load the message history.

m8 I think it's not possible to install "something" to replace htc messaging. Miri cooked a 2.5 manilla with and another without htc messaging as is still buggy - probs with sms and cannot send mms
I have some success in reverting back to the pocket outlook for sms and even have mms enabled, however, the problem I am having now is the unread count doesn't show up in the tab although new messages I'm still notified.
http://htcpedia.com/forum/showthread.php?t=537
a little bit annoying but working workaround could be the usé of 3rd party app.. even if theres no manilla integration, it should send sms.
on manilla roms I use flexmail.
hate da bloody HTC extension ****.
I don't fancy 2.5 rom's but I tried new versions from energy and pdaviet and as far as I know these bugs were removed

I do not think so. At least in the Energy thread the SMS bug is still reported. If you restore many old SMS the HD will hang.
what kind of SMS problem u get?

it's performance problem dude. Once you have more than 100-200 messages, the whole messaging apps will claw.Looks like HTC did not do use case analysis and just code based on a 20-message test cases.

I havn't put a cab together yet, and now I'm back to R12 after toggle between R12 & Leo R2 for at least 5 times yesterday just to find out what causes the count indicator not to be displayed.
In the meantime, you can do a google search on arcsoft and try to use the old version of arcsoft.
Ok, I'm moving this thread to general forum as its not really to do with rom development

return to classic microsoft messages

The only way to do this is disabling the htc messaging client but then i loose the ability to send mms!
Any other way?
Thanks!!

you can use arcsoft mms....next time it would help us help you more if you would post more information like what device you are cooking for, ect.
mmm I guess he is referring at the new User experience in 6.5.X that when a sms comes it dont takes you to the threaded conversation when tap on reply... in fact it takes you to a single sms mode of review
I dont know how to come back to old style but maybe that is intended to stay as is cause its one of the goals from Microsoft to be like that... cheers

I want to return to the message view as it was in my omnia i900 (microsoft style) without htc message menu and htc background in messages.
I succeded this by deleting htc messaging client but then i dont have mms option then.
I googled and i see there are many people with the same issue.
When you disable htc message style and return to microsoft message style you loose the mms option.
Any ideas?
Thank you both for your answers.!!
Microsoft does not support MMS , for that you need messaging Client Arcsoft as TPC said.

I dont think thats what "threaded" is supposed to mean...
I always thought threaded is for Conversation mode in Outlook which displays all related emails as one "conversation" ... How can the email address not coming on Replies be related ...

Yeah as Sanjeev has said, "Conversation mode in Outlook" is threaded email, the bug your referring to isn't threaded email
Since I don't know how to fix it, I've already asked in Chef Central (no replies as yet ).

They aren't trying to "find word mistakes," they're trying to help. Threading and your reply-to issue aren't related, and the title of this thread is Threaded Email Problem, so somebody had to say it.

ps: I have another problem in manila, when I try to import sim contacts from manila it seems it is importing contacts but at the end of process any contacts cant be imported.however when I try to import from sim manager it really works well and all contacts are imported to phone. can the reason be a registry fault? or something else? because it looks a link between manila and simmanager is broken

My T-Mobile HTC HD2 has terrible lag when texts are incoming...

OS version - 5.2.21892 (21892.5.0.89)
Manila Version - 2.5.20121412.2
Rom Version - 2.13.531.1 (90963)
Rom Date - 04/28/10
Radio Version - 2.10.50.26
Protocol Version - 15.39.50.07U
The problem is that when I get an incoming text message, my phone will freeze for upwards of 2-5 min before the text clears and the sound plays. After the sound plays, my phone will have slight lag, but then go back to normal speed.
If multiple texts come in at the same time, my phone can be frozen for up to 15 min!
Any help?
Welcome to the HTC SMS client...the one true achilles heel of this phone. The newer version that comes in the ROM you have was supposed to fix all that, but it only seems to have helped a little, and not for everybody.
You can help it a little by keeping the number of messages in your inbox trimmed down to a minimum, but even that won't solve the issue where it chokes when getting too many messages too fast.
There's a cab or two to disable the HTC client and just work with the underlying WM interface, but I haven't tried any of them. Several of the custom ROM's available here also have that disabled by default (as part of their effort to make the phone work better in general).
So there is nothing to do?
No new messaging mods/apps or anything like that?
EDIT: I currently have lots of conversations and lots of texts in those conversations. Would trimming those down help?

Use the Microsoft Myphone program to archive your text messages online. They'll be pulled off your phone and stored in your online profile. You can restore any single sms or all of them if you.
It wont archive MMS, so you'll need to manually save those and delete them from your inbox.

Did you read the replies to this thread? In the end there is no proven fix for the problem when using the HTC Messenger. I have found that using the windows messengers greatly if not completely eliminates the problem all together.

How would you use the windows messenger?
Like disable sense ui and use the titanium ui? Cause I believe that still pulls up the HTC messenger.
I love Vito SMS-Chat...

ranestari, that article there has a link to (one of) the cabs I mentioned above, that will simply disable the HTC SMS client and let you use the stock WM interface instead. That should go a long way towards helping with your issues, but we still highly recommend not letting your inbox get too overstuffed...WM has long been known for not being able to tolerate that.
Sorry to necro this thread, but is there any other messaging client that I could use a cab with?
With the stock windows mobile client, I don't recieve any texts, but I know that they get sent.

[Q] Threaded e-mail on COM2 - revisited

The threaded e-mail have been discussed in a number of forums. I have read them all. However, none addressed the issue with COM2 and it seems it is not possible at all.
I tried cooking (using OS Builder) with various combination.
Have anyone successfully cooked the threaded e-mail, especially for COM2 (21916) and willing to share their experiences?
Thank you
I noticed something new with threaded email recently.
I have exchange active sync on the devices through exchange server, and using outlook 2010 on the desktop with office mobile 2010 on the device.
There was no way I could get threaded email to work on the device itself, however when I set conversation mode on in outlook desktop, my device also switched to conversation mode by itself.
I was able to get the tmail.exe that has threaded email to work on COM2; however, since the app itself is designed for COM3, it didn't fit and everything was out of place. Long story short, unless someone wants to take apart the tmail.exe and redo it for COM2, it's not possible. I think people have just settled with COM3, haha. Too bad there are no HTC WVGA English devices for COM3. The keyboard and stuff is still not proper when ported from COM2, and other stuff too, of course.

having some strange troubles with this on com3 as well. i can add threaded mail to my rom via cab, right after boot before a mail-sync has happened. works great.
but whenever i try to cook it, inbox doesn't open. doesn't matter if i use files or modules or if it's the very last package to be added.
anyone had success on com3?

Sorry, particularly meant HTC devices. I should have clarified. Some HTC packages just have not been designed for COM3 yet. Like the Ez Input keyboard works in COM3, but still has some problems, since it is designed for COM2. Chinese ROMs have the chinese EZ Input. Still looking for English EZ Input in COM3. If there are English HTC WVGA COM3 ROMs out there, I want 'em!
You know another thing along with Threaded Email, that I'd like to have in COM2? It's the ability to move around the start menu items like in COM3. That would be awesome.
