i have a strange issue with my screen lock.
First, the new wm6.5 started unlocking in my pocket. i found out that sometimes when i pressed the screen in the upper left corner it unlocked ( so without sliding). To resolve this problem, i installed smartlock to turn back to the classic wm6 lock. This works, but the phone is still "trying to unlock" sometimes. for example, when i have my phone laying on my desk with the lock on, it sometimes out of the blue shows the unlock screen, like i pressed "unlock" . .
this is not a really big issue, but the real problem is that when I'm making a call the phone starts to lock / unlock in a rapid tempo, like its going crazy.. the only way to stop this is to do a soft reset..
I already tried a lot of different Roms, made hard-resets and reinstalled HardSPL 1.83 but nothing seems to fix this issue..
is anyone familiar with this problem and its solution?

Probably a hardware fault, go to your warranty center to have it checked.

Hey guys my hd has locked it's self i can bring it out of standby but it wont unlock the touch screen.
have done 3 hard resets and it gets to the "tap screen to continue" screen but still says "unlock" in the bottom left corner.
it wont allow me to unlock it.
i am running the stock rom 6.1 on orange uk.
can anyone help?
does that corner of the screen work? what happens if you press phone? do you get the dialer? it could be that the screen doesn't work.
the soft keys doesn't work apart from the hang up key which vibrates and lights the screen. But when i touch the unlock button nothing happens. if i press the volume control i get the htc volume control as well
Well I had this problem once and only thing which worked was when I connected the phone to the power for charging and it immediately unlocked.
have you tried going into bootloader mode? if you can, then try install a new ROM...
Ok i didnt mean the soft keys. There is a option in the bottom left corner of the screen that says phone, i was wondering if you touch that corner does it work.
Also if only 1 of the soft keys are working you have a another issue as well. I would be getting in touch with orange and looking at sending it backfor now. I would flash any custom roms as this will affect the warranty. Look into keeping the warranty in tact until the issues have been resolved.
1 thing you could try is flashing the original rom again. See if you can find the orange ROM (it's on here somewhere) and reflash with this and it might solve some of the issues as this will do a little more than a ard reset will.

Nothing i did made any difference so it's gone to HTC to either a: fix or b: replace. i was lucky in that i hadnt flashed any roms into it yet as i didnt wont to invalidate the warrenty and that orange being s#it, wont even let me upgrade the stock ROM. grr. will post on here when i find out what it is.
no idea what was wrong with it and they replaced the whole touch screen.

Sometimes when i try to unlock my phone the screen wil remain black and the buttons will light up? Is this because of S2U2?
Its really annoying so if anyone can help id appreciate it
i have the same issue with the standard windows lockscreen, so i dont think it's S2U2.
is there anyway round it? Its so annoying
Could you tell us a bit more please? Are you using the phone in a case? Are the sensors at the top of the phone being blocked off when you are trying this operation?

No it isnt in a case, and ive checked that nothing is blocking any of the sensors, sometimes a few button presses and it will come back on and other times it wil take 10 to 15 minutes to work agian
If not the case then could be a recently installed software programme causing your problems.
Think back on your installation history. If necessary deinstall the items you suspect, soft reset, then reinstall one by one and see which item causes you the problem.

I have topaz with official 6.5 rom!!! I have the s2U2 lock program and suddenly when i tried to unlock my phone I couldnt even slide the bar... It seems like the screen doesnt accept my finger . No seriously when i restarted my phone (battery out and turn on again) and i tried to input the sim code i pressed the screen and nothing happens, and then eventually the screen locks with s2u2 and again no sliding to unlock....
I dont know what to do... anyone help????????? thanx in advance
You can unlock when removing the stylus too. (Unless you've turned that off in the settings...)
Then uninstall S2U2.
Not sure why it's not working for you.
If the screen is not working at all, you can try a hardreset. If it's still not working after that, then return it under warranty.
If you are out of warranty for some reason, you could always try to replace the digitizer, very easy to do
I tried sth else instead, i connected the topaz with my pc and accessed the files of s2u2, and pretty much f*cked them up!!!!! so everything is ok!!!

I have owned my HTC HD2 for about 3 months now. I have had a problem since i first got it which is really bugging me. Sometimes when the phone locks, i am unable to unlock it with the slider. The slider gets to about half way across the screen and then freezes. If i leave it for a few minutes it goes back to a locked position agian and when i attempt to slide the slider across, it freezes.
The only thing which gives me access to my phone again is to perform a hard reset by removing the battery.
Any ideas? The phone is on UK Vodafone and is running the latest firmware (v.1.72)

I don't have an answer, its likely to be sense trying to load something and hanging.there are loads of threads about unlock problems, all different, however I wanted to help you avoid confusion by pointing out that removing the battery is a soft reset, not a hard reset.
I'd start by removing some apps, see if it changes the behavior, then re add til it happens
i've the same issue. but not removing battery, just press little red restard button uder battery cover. i think it happens when i enable rotation of today screen or because of proximatelyscreenoff program bug. after removing today from rotation of bsd tweek i have 1-2 restarts for 2 weeks.
I had the same thing sometimes, but never happened with the latest rom I am using, and I am pretty much installing the same apps over and over after each flash...
You aren't by chance running the facebook application?
Leaving that open and locking your phone will result in you not being able to unlock your phone
I wonder if this problem has anything to do with power supply; I sometimes can't unlock the screen either and a few moments ago my battery had run out and when putting it on AC I wasn't able to unlock it. When it had charged a bit there were no problems unlocking it.

HD2 screen unlock probblem
Hi All,
I have put my screen unlock code as 0000 and set as 5 mins to lock the phone.
But that is becoming a headache now.
Sometime the phone behaves very unusual, it doesn't takes my code "0000", no option rather to reset the phone or remove battery and restart.
After the reset the phone works with my code (0000) but don't know when the same problem starts again.
Need Help..

In the Att Tilt2 the power button was on Top & could close the Screen while talking on the phone

Unlock Problem
I everybody,
I have this issue aswell but even worse than everyone else. I can't unlock my device at all anymore else I do the "hold both VolUp&Down + Power Button " for reset to manufacturing settings of the cracked ROM.
any process so far or do you guys still think it's about messed up Apps?

HD2 Hard Locked
Okay...so maybe Facebook is locking my HD2. It's LOCKED I'm recharging, I've attemted a soft restart, hard restart and every other restart out there...nothing is working. I even tried pushing the white button below the battery case and holding the volume up and down...I actually thought that it began to do a hard restart. It did begin but then it got stuck at the "swipe" demo. It is definitely stuck.

Until gradually it became impossible to unlock the phone.
The "slide to unlock" does no longer respond
So after a lot of trial and errors I decided to flash the rom again and went back to HTC Sense (WM6.5) factory settings... Unfortunately this did not change anything
I don't think the touchscreen is broken as the slider region on the display reacts fine once I'm in (after reset e.g.)
It's only the fact that I'm not getting in once I set the device to standby
anyone an idea what I could try ?

Your digitizer is probably busted, meaning you'll have to ship that baby for repair.
I had the same things a couple of months back. Screen looks ok, but actually it isn't, as it doesn't respond.
Well, that's what I thought first...So I sent the device to DynaFix... who are in charge of all repairs for HTC in the BeNeLux
After 2 day they already send me an offer for the repairs
As the device was "dropped" (How the hell do they know -to be clear: device had NOT dropped in any way)
Repairs would cost me roughly the same as a new HD2 - I wonder... would this have to do with the fact that the device was just over one year old ?????
Anyways, I objected and demanded proof of "the device having dropped"
Their response: "Sorry, we looked into the case again and detected illegal software on the device" They referred to Android and stated that the guarantee was no longer valid. End of story you think ?
Not realy. If they were convinced that the illegal software caused the device to malfunction... then they should just flash the device back to factory settings.
So I asked for a new offer to do this
Their response ? The original offer to replace everything (motherboard, screen,...)
Since then, I could mail, call,... whatever... DynaFix no longer responded to my questions... and what strikes me: they just send me the device back (of course with an invoice for the investigations) - without me having agreed on that.
back on topic now:
The digitizer could be faulty, that's right, but what is strange is, that if I do a reset... and bypass the slider, the device works perfectly. Even the area where the non-responsive slider is located, is reacting just fine
It seems that the touchscreen is not initialized/not powered when I switch the phone on and try to "slide"
Just now I did a reset, put the device in standby, switched it back on and the slider worked mysteriously !
Back to standby, switched it on again... slider did NOT work - Back to square 1 ?
I would like to find a way to remove the slider.... just to switch the phone on and immediatelo to home screen... without a "slide to unlock"
This way I could check whether the problem is related to the slider/"switching on" or not

one question: which button to you use to wake the device when it is running and screen is off in sleeping state?
try using another button and avoid using the power/endcall button...there are many threads here about people describing nearly the same problem as you are. and nearly all of those users concluded that their power/endcall button was indeed faulty, causing the touch screen to stop responding, unless the power/endcall button was pressed at a certain angle.
most android builds allow the device to wake up using ANY of the buttons (except the volume keys). since i read those threads, i have taught myself to use all the buttons evenly.
your analysis is interesting, but i don't think there is a software solution...after all, you did try stock ROM and the problem remained. sounds to me more like a faulty power/endcall button that sometimes interferes with the touch screen.

When I use any of the other buttons (except the power/endcall) the device reacts smoothly... even unlocks without any problem
So it must be the power/endcall button which is bugging me
Now just have to test what happens with incoming calls.... can I unlock them - that's the question

im using an htc hd2 - t-mobile version and im also experiencing the same problem
have you tried pressing the home button on the lower left instead of the other buttons to wake up ? works for me though
any of the buttons will do apparently to wake the device and make the slider respond
What about answering calls ? Any issues with that ? Which button do you use for answering incoming calls ?

the freezing up of the device when trying to unlock was fixed by using another button to wake it up... and then some days later that magic trick no longer cut it either.
Warranty ? yeah, that's a real joke - they refer to moisture (not at all) or Illegal software (android is illegal ???) as reasons why warranty does not apply !
I just wish I could remove the slider in a way.... just switching it on and off... and maybe use it as a multimedia device instead of a smartPHONE. It's far from being SMART now
So now I'm stuck with a €500 device which worked perfectly for about 1 year and now the device closed the door on me (and locked it for ever)
I was an HTC fan before.... but all their credit is gone now.
