GPS Problem - HD2 General

I flashed my device to the Stock 1.66 ROM (Norwegian); I have HSPL 1.42 and I got some problems with the GPS. In Sense UI i can update the weather as normal but the GPS doesn't work in any other software. I have tried iGO8, tomtom 7 and GPSCycleComputer, with no luck at all! I also tried the gps mod driver at com 3 and I have tried all configurations in the GPS settings; all COM's and transfer speeds. But it doesnt detects my GPS hardware! Please help

umm. I don't think it's the GPS hardware that's giving you the problem, i haven't personally tried iGo or TomTom, but aGPS works fine for me.

Just so you know, the weather and location stuff doesn't use GPS. It uses your network. I can also confirm that the problem doesn't like with the ROM as I too have 1.66 and it works fine for me. The problem must lie elsewhere.
Sorry I can't be of any actual help, but I can confirm that it should be working.

Thankyou. I was familiar with it when it used to require some kind of intervention, like on my Diamond or HD, but I've never had to interact with it at all on the HD2 and just forgot all about it lol.
Thanks

QuickGPS doesnt work The update finishes, but it's always expired!

Garmin Mobile XT Update

Has anyone had any problems with the new Garmin XT update version 4.20.40w. I updated yesterday and now it will no longer find a GPS located on com 4, it will only find the "GPS Intermediate Driver." If anyone else has experienced this problem, or has any answers please help me out. Thanks
I'm using DCD 3.0.0, with Sprint.

Sounds like a similar issue with 4.20.30. I would stick with 4.20.20, as that is verified as working.
Thanks for the reply roninld. I did not know there was an issue with 4.20.30, guess I will go back and downgrade.

Where can I get the 4.20.20 version? I don't see an option to download previous versions on their website.
I am currently running version 4.10.40
Version 4.20.20 can be downloaded here: http://www.gpsinformation.org/perry/gps10/GarminMobileXTforWindowsMobile_42020w.exe
I've been using "GPS Intermediate Driver" since start using Garmin Mobile XT. When upgraded to 4.20.40, it tried to hook up with COM4, but very slow. I went back directly to the Intermediate Driver.

I've thought about trying that and seeing how that works out. What's the difference between Intermediate Driver and the actual GPS on COM4. I wonder if there is any accuracy difference?
4.20.50w is now out from Garmin. I'm going to download it to my phone soon. I haven't has problems with Mobile XT. .3 and /4 have been fine with me.
hey guys, quick question. Garmin works well on my mogul, but i realized it's using the "intermediate driver" My main questions are: What exactly does that mean, and is it a bad thing?
I've tried setting it to use com4, but it searches and i guess automatically sets itself to intermediate. I'm running 4.20.50 btw

At least for me, it seemed like whenever I went to the Intermediate Driver, my time would reset back to a previous time date. That was one of the main problems with any version above 4.20.20wp that I ran into.
Thanks

Oh well actually i was just looking to find out what it means to be using the intermediate driver, as opposed to com4 and whether or not it's a bad thing.

I had the same problem and went back to 4.20.20wp. I'm hoping a new version will fix this.

I think i've deduced that it only screws up the clock if it isn't able to get a sat lock and then you exit. Otherwise it works fine for me, as long as it gets a sat lock, even using the intermediate driver.

.50w runs faster than the previous versions (screen response, route calculation, etc) I've noticed, and much more stable than .30w or .40w.
Seems to me tho that 0.50w will always go for the intermediate driver, and hence the time reset. 0.20w the serial com4 setting stays 'sticky' so no problem with reset time even if a lock not found.
I am having a problem with Mobile XT not closing the GPS connection correctly when you exit the application. If I shut my phone off/on and run mobile XT the program runs great with no issues. GPS is flawless on com4. When I exit the application there is no errors however if I try to restart the GPS never works again. Also the GPS will cease to function in other apps such as Google Maps. A soft-reset does not fix the issue either. I have to actually shut the phone off/on to gain use of the GPS again...any thoughts? Running DCD 3.2.6 and radio 3.42.50
Ok... This is the first time I've tried Garmin Mobile XT. I want to know what the hype's about. What am I missing to get this to work? I downloaded and installed verzion .50.. but without a "Registration code" It won't let me connect to anything but a Garmin device.
I currently use TomTom 7
Hehe well you need to install the app then turn around and grab city navigator to put maps on it. There are "sites" around that provide what you need. As to my issue I think I narrowed it down to when I actually lock the phone with windows mobile. If I do not lock it things appear to work fine...
Now why use garmin XT over the others. Only reason is NAVTEQ. Navteq maps are by far better compared to the crap TeleAtlas has. Living in Iowa, I think TeleAtlas forgot we were a state whereas Navteq at least gives a damn heh.
iGo8, Tomtom = teleatlas
Garmin XT = navteq
Gotcha. Ok.. I got it to allow me to see the GPS... now I just need the maps. I'm trying to get them off of my C330 using gpsdaemon. just not having any luck

Diamond + igo8

Hello the first day that the Igo8 installs in my HTC I work perfectly, connect to the satellites and every ok, but to the second day that tries it I connect to the satellites and in 2,3 or 4 seconds it disconected the Gps and it has been all the time like that connected disconnected, designs someone of the problem???
thanks

sorry my ignorance but with A - gps you refer to the quick gps???
Thank you very much
Yups, that is the problem with the ROM and the usage of A-GPS ... search "GPS problem", etc, to find a solution (just don't feel like retyping).
In short, to resolve the lags and long fixing of GPS -> I flashed to Duttys V2 ROM (which has A-GPS off initially), Hard-reset after flashing is completed. Other than that I am using the .05 Radio - all problems gone.
Had the same on Duttys V2 when aGPS switched ON (advanced Config). Just switch it off. IGO8 works nice but still lacks in graphic as there's no VGA skin for it. Anybody?

This may be a silly question, but is it configured properly to see the device? I'm not familiar with this particular application. However, with some navigation applications I have seen issues with them letting Windows manage the GPS configuration. Usually setting it manually to COM4 and 38,400 baud rate or higher will make it start working.
Same here. Gps never worked for me in google maps thats why i had to enable a-gps which works pretty well btw.

Hello waskow,
Have u managed to resolve this issue?..I'm currently having the same probelm
My Blackstone came with an ancient ROM, like 1.14.xxxxxxxxwhateverxxxxxxxx, it was the cause of not working GPS. I couldn't get anything at all. Tried almost everything. Then, I just flashed the most recent official ROM and 2 minutes later I got a load of sattelites available.
Download HTC GPS Tool, run and under button "Open" select option "Clear memory", then press "Open".
Have the same problem. Used HTC GPS tool. I got error message WaitCommEvent failed.
Any ideas?
Gps Blackstone

I think we need a little more info. It sounds like your running on of the custom 6.5 roms, which one? Who is your carrier? What radio version are you running? What software have you added?

I usuallly use TomTom & I had a problem yesterday. I could not get a lock even after 3-45 minutes. I think normally I have TomTom confugured for Built-in GPS receiver. Just for the heck of it I tried in using other NMEA GPS receiver. Configured it 4800 & com 4. I was then able to lock within a minute. I would try & make sure you external GPS settings are set to the same. Also make your in you phone settings that location is on.

[Q] [AOKP JB] Tsunami X 1.5 - GPS Problem

I have problem that GPS doesn't work (inside and outside) at all, once I updated my Tsunami from 1.2 to 1.5. is there something that I can do?
I use Tsunami 1.5, and I don't have any problems with GPS. Try to use wireless connection and GPS together, this will help to fix faster.

I enabled both of them together already, but got still this problem. I'm wundering that Google Map can track my position on the Map, but all other Apps (even GPS Test) fail to initialize the GPS.
even clear and update AGPS and reboot didn't help.
