sorry my ignorance but with A - gps you refer to the quick gps???
Thank you very much

Yups, that is the problem with the ROM and the usage of A-GPS ... search "GPS problem", etc, to find a solution (just don't feel like retyping).
In short, to resolve the lags and long fixing of GPS -> I flashed to Duttys V2 ROM (which has A-GPS off initially), Hard-reset after flashing is completed. Other than that I am using the .05 Radio - all problems gone.

Had the same on Duttys V2 when aGPS switched ON (advanced Config). Just switch it off. IGO8 works nice but still lacks in graphic as there's no VGA skin for it. Anybody?

P3600 fix gps cold start RAPID!

TESTED OK OK!!!!
QGPS: improve your TTFF to seconds!
If you have a PPC with built-in GPS - this software is for you.
This is a small freeware that downloads Ephemeris data to your PPC using an internet connection with Activesync. If your GPS was off for more than 4 hours, then the next time you start it up you get a cold start , where the Ephemeris data needs to be DL to the receiver. This can take a few seconds to a few minutes, depending on your device and location.
The software downloads this data to your PPC so that you , in fact , get a warm start!
Just start the program, click the Connect button (no need for the 10 days data), and within a few seconds , you get the most up-to-date data. Now go outside and start your GPS program - you'll get a fix within 10 seconds!

I doubt it works for our P3600, I tried the HP version once (found on this forum) and noticed no change at all, but I'll try this one and see of it helps....
WOW IT WORKS! (unlike the HP one...)
<10s fix. Although it seems to crash some of my GPS programs....now if someone can write a script to make it automatically download data everyday via activesync that would be awesome
THANKS A MILLION!
It tried it quickly and it seemed to work very well !
(on a Trinity Orange SPV M700 Fr)
I tried this with GPS Tuner, and it got a fix in under 10 seconds from a cold start. Whether this is luck or not I don't know, so will test it over then next few days.
It's a vanilla m700 with no rom udates etc
I have the problem that this tools doesn't pass the proxy server @ work.
any chance to change this manually?

To quote myself, I tried it now, and still a cold fix takes 2 minutes or more, just like before, woth or without this program....
A-GPS
In the end, the Trinity has A-GPS(needs help from nearby cell network for quickfix, and the operators have to have it hardware enabled on their cell net), normal GPS or both? Because if its A-GPS maybe thats what affecting the tests
Thanks for this Cab.
This Cab work for gps intern . It is ok for gps extern ?? (extern with my trinity)

I get the same error while trying to update via GPRS.
Can't remember whether in the 1st try I succeeded.
No problems updating via ActiveSync, though.
Were you able to overcome this issue?
Thanks.
This does not work!
I've tried each of the different Quick GPS programs that download Ephemeris data as both the files xtra.bin and packedEphemeris.ee into the Windows directory, and it appears that neither of them are picked up and loaded into the GPS chipset. I can confirm that it doesn't get a fix any quicker than it would without it. Remember that once you've recently had a connection, the next time should be a lot faster anyway.
I'd like to be proven wrong, but it appears that there isn't a working version of uploading the data to the chipset for the Trinity.

Xperia GPS malfunction

Hi
I wonder if someone has this same problem and know how to solve it...
Most of the times that i try to use tomtom or wayfinder, the gps can't get a fix, it locks on to the satelites with no problem, but only for 1/2 seconds, then loses the position and after some 10s it regains the position again for another 1/2s and loses it again...
The only i way can get the gps to function properly again is by turning the phone off, remove the battery and turn it back on. Then it works, but if i turn off tomtom and try to use wayfinder the problem returns, and sometimes also happens after i close tomtom and try to use it again later...
It's driving me nuts i did a hard reset and after instaling my programs the problem remains. It seems google maps works ok, tho i'm not sure as the program doesn't have the option to see to how many satelites it's locked on.
any ideas? I doubt it's from the programs i install cause the ones i use i dw them all from this forum...
Thanks
its probably your location, the satellites might not be abundant enough. GPS works fine for me, I'm using IGO8.
no, it's not that, cause when it happens i remove the battery and reinsert and turn on the phone again, and after doing that procedure the gps will lock with some 6/7 satellites and will not fail as long as i don't turn off the first program i try to use the gps with ...
If i use tomtom after doing that battery removal procedure, it will work flawlessly, if i turn off tomtom and use it right after, it still works ok, but, if i turn off tomtom and after i use wayfinder, or if i only use tomtom again after some hours, it will have that problem (and vice-versa), it does find the same satellites and gets the coordinates (in tomtom they get those blue level bars), but only for very brief moments every 10/15s which ofc makes it impossible to correctly use the navigation program
If the gps was broken or something it wouldn't work ok after i removed the battery... i guess i'll try another hard reset
Try to disable A-GPS.
possible corrupt quick gps file , run quick gps and downoad new file.
Hi,
If you have used Advanced Config and enabled A-GPS, disable it as it will cause issues with TomTom and other GPS navigation software.
Later...
hehe got it working now, i had tried that before, but seems i was using an older version of advanced config or something, i downloaded a new version, disabled a-gps and now the gps is working fine thanks for the help
Re elusivo
Elusivo, could post how you fixed your problem? Because I currently have the same problem, but no Idea how to fix it. You said something about using a new configuration with and old one? Can you please explain?
Search for the program 'Advanced Config' on the forum and install it and then run it. Go to the GPS section and if A-GPS is enabled disable it. A-GPS uses the phone masts to triangulate and get your position which causes havoc when you are trying to use the internal GPS
Thanks for that......Problem solved
hello
I do have the saame issue as you with my gps. I install Igo, tomtom, gps htc tools and gps skinner and it is always 20/30sec to get a fix but it loses it 1 sec after.
If I disable A-Gps, it will increase the time to fix satellites or is it just used for quiick gps to download ephemerids???.
I think we have to ask Customer support because it is unacceptable for such an ewxpensive phone to have to disable functionalities such as A-gps to get it to work

A-GPS uses Cell Towers to guess where you are. It is not (on these phones anyway) linked to Quick GPS which is a lot better at getting you a fix on a cold start.
As others have mentioned for some reason with A-GPS enabled TomTom doesn't like it, and I don't know of any real reason to use it.
@artesea : I don't get why you said "I don't know of any real reason to use it".
Are you talking about Tomtom or about A-GPS function ??
Because if you are speaking about Tomtom, I do have similar problem with all software using GPS.
And if you disable A-GPS function you are going to have to wait may be 3 minutes or more to get a fix instead of 40seconds so I think this is a real reason to use it...
No I'm talking about A-GPS.
Have you tried a cold start using Quick GPS, I can get a location in under 30 seconds.
So I disable A-GPS and I got fix within 30/40 seconds and I never lost it.
I just think it is absolutely unbearable to have to disable A-GPS to get your GPS working properly. This mobile phone cost 700€
I just would like to know what is protocol version from people who can have A-GPS working properly.
Rom version : 1.02.933.3
Radio version : 52.43.25.24W
So you've gone from 20/30 seconds to get a fix but then it drops, to 30/40 seconds to get a fix and it work and you STILL have a problem???
Maybe there is a reason why A-GPS is disabled by default!
No when I disable A-GPS I don't have problem any more.
I just remembered that I may have enable A-GPS through Advanced Config.
Hard reset do not change this, I though it was a registry editor value but apparently it is more than that.
Anyway it is not Xperia X1 issue but Advanced Config compatibility with Xperia X1
having problems with gps now too :/ later it was working brilliant (fix in no time), but now, most of the time i dont even see any satellite...
but sometimes, especially after reset, it shows like 5-6 satellites, but cant get fix, after some time sats just disappear :X tried disabling/enabling a-gps, with/without quick gps file downloaded, still the same... and no answer anywhere...
i guess i'll have to use my warranty and get it serviced :/
edit: today reflashed radio one more time (as yesterday after like 5 radio flashes, i ended on the original version, not the newest one) and suddenly gps is working hope it lasts...

GPS not working

At first gps worked fine with tomtom and g.maps.
The problem started when the gps signal became losted and recovered every second or so. On and Off continuosly.
Other days worked everything right. And now It seems that there is no gps at all.
Tomtom alert: "no gps device" and g.maps dont get any satelite
So, Is this a hardware problem?
Could you help?
Thanks
It sounds like the Assisted GPS problem, make sure its switched off.
Settings->System->AGPS Settings
Uncheck the box and save the settings
Steve
I dont have this option
About gps, I have only "External GPS" at "settings"
Another way to swicht it off?
you can use the Advanced Config Tool or Tweak HD
Steve
I get this too, so will see if turning off AGPS helps.
Another way I found is tha if I run Google Maps, wait for that to get a lock, anything else taht uses GPS then works fine.
I tried HD Tweak, and switched A-gps off (option 18.5)
But nothing changes
There is no gps available for gmaps and tomtom
Any other ideas?
Thanks
Problem solved, I was really , so:
Backup & Hard reset, ... or better, fry it with a new ROM, now I have this one:
Dutty's HTC HD (BlackStone) ROM V2 XTREME
You can find it, of course, in this same great forum
It seems to be much better than original, faster, more complete...
gps and everything working fine...
I recommend it

This may be a silly question, but is it configured properly to see the device? I'm not familiar with this particular application. However, with some navigation applications I have seen issues with them letting Windows manage the GPS configuration. Usually setting it manually to COM4 and 38,400 baud rate or higher will make it start working.
Same here. Gps never worked for me in google maps thats why i had to enable a-gps which works pretty well btw.

Hello waskow,
Have u managed to resolve this issue?..I'm currently having the same probelm
My Blackstone came with an ancient ROM, like 1.14.xxxxxxxxwhateverxxxxxxxx, it was the cause of not working GPS. I couldn't get anything at all. Tried almost everything. Then, I just flashed the most recent official ROM and 2 minutes later I got a load of sattelites available.
Download HTC GPS Tool, run and under button "Open" select option "Clear memory", then press "Open".
Have the same problem. Used HTC GPS tool. I got error message WaitCommEvent failed.
Any ideas?
Gps Blackstone
I having the same problem, gps cannot find any satellites, when my p3470 searches for satellites an orange light flashes by the earpiece, but the blackstone doesn't flash at all? does anyone know if it should ?

Navigator demands data connection at start

Hi all,
firstly the software situation:
I have an HTC Touch Diamond2 wit a german Vodafone branding. Last week i installed the new official upgrade for german Vodafone devices - ROM version 2.16.162.1 HTC Touch Diamond2 (Voda_ DE).
With the old ROM and WM Version i didn't have this problem. Now - with every start of my TomTom Navigator after about 10 seconds a data connection is started. If there's wifi around - wifi, if not - mobile service. When i switch off the connection it stops and for some minutes - until i turn off the navigator it remains switched off. I haven't tested if during some time of the navigation it is turned on again.
In other discussions other users (with other navigation software) have also affirmed, that they also get an unwanted data connection.
Since then i have tried everything that i could think of. I looked over every setting in the TomTom software. Tried over TomTom Home. Tried reinstalling TomTom. Tried resetting to factory settings of TomTom. Nothing helped.
I then made a couple of hardresets of the device and i formatted the memory card also a couple of times. I then installed everything fresh - still demands data connection.
I then tracked the connections with a trafficmonitor software - one time wifi connection, one time mobile service ceonnection.
Looks like this:
WiFi:
system : 3.5 K
WZCSVC.dll : 1.2 K
mobile connection:
system: 1.2 K
WZCSVC.dll is Wireless Zero Configuration Service and i can at least understand why it is making traffic, since wifi is in use.
What is "system"?
Also - why more traffic for "system" with wifi than with mobile connection?
Yesterday i also tracked the connection and there was another .dll service which name i unluckily didn't mark. But it was gps*something*.dll.??
Could AGPS or Quick-GPS have something to do with this behaviour? Or the My Location service? I disabled and declined every setting that i could discover for those services, but i may have overlooked something?
Any ideas?
Please HELP!
Any suggestion would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
Problem solved (looks like it at least).
After installing HD Tweak and disabling A-GPS no data connection starts with starting the navigator.
Glad you solved your issue, but let me witness that in my case (i have A-GPS ON) when i use tomtom (7.916.9189) no data connection is going on. Anyway, just to be sure to keep your problem under control, i advice you to check also the weather update settings.

If you mean the two options which appear directly when the HTC Sence Weather Tab is opened - "update weather automatically" and "update with roaming" - i've checked them many times - they are off. If there is another setting where they can be adjusted i would appreciate it if you told me where and how. But i don't think this is it. Unless TomTom Weather is doing this.
But as i mentiones - there was a gps*something*.dll file, that caused the data transfer - that's why i thought it is something GPS related.
But I wouldn't mind to use another solution because now i think my gps signal is not that strong (at least in buildings).
Do you have 6.5 also? I don't think it could be a ROM thing?

As far as i could test it it makes the connection just once after starting the navigation. It doesn't keep pulling data the whole time. If it does it the whole time during a navigation - i don't know, haven't tested it.
But you can at least test it quickly before travelling - navigation on - status check. If something's moving - you have a problem.
There is one simple solution - you can either disable all automatic connection types - then you would't be able to surf the internet. In my case i didn't want to have to disable everything and/or to enable it by hand every time i use the navigator.
Or you can install HD Tweak and disable A-GPS. It's really very easy.

By the way..Also TD2 Tools and Tom's Topaz Setting Tool can enable/disable A-GPS and are more specific for our devices...your choice...and have a nice trip

Hi,
have you tested HD Tweak? I'm just asking for comparison reasons. I used it just because someone said it worked.
If the other two are more suitable for the Topaz i would of course prefer them. Is there "a better one" comparing the two?
P.S. Following question just entered my mind. If i uninstall the other tweak software what happens with the changes i made with it. I mean i guess it changes values in the registry so that the settings are changed? I suppose everything will stay as the software "left" it before being uninstalled?
I use HDTweak to increase overall sound volume only. I had it installed for months in a previous config and I was quite happy with it, but the specific tweak apps look more friendly to me. I guess that if you uninstall hdtweak without restoring the default settings you will keep the tweaks applied..at your own risk
