Anyone interrested by some Maric parts ? - myTouch 3G, Magic General

I've bricked my magic..seems official now.
I doubt htc will just swap mine or fix it for a decent price (i'll try next week thou).
The only solution i see is just sell the phone for salvage as all parts are working.
So anyone interrested just make an offer.

I may be interested if it's white.
But anyway, did you buy that off your provider? If you did, people normally find a way to get a new phone from them (unless you've had it too long..)
Or did you get it off some person?

Cost of a new screen?

Ok How's this for a first post? Some moron managed to knock my 2 week old wizard off the desk while it was charging at work (so not in its case) and has cause a small chip in the screen (screen still works perfectly - just the outter touch panel is damaged). Since no one is owning up to doing it - and my short-sightedness in not taking out insurance on such an expensive phone, I wondered if anyone had any Idea how much T-Mobile would charge to fix this?
I'm assuming it is too late to take out insurance now, so I'm gonna have to shell out for the repair one way or the other - just wondered how much this will set me back.....
Any ideas? Cheers Guys
Oh and no flaming me please - I feel gutted enough as it is!!
Not worth it!! get a new one...

You're saying to replace the screen will cost more than £300??
Sorry mate I'm not made of money - that is not a viable solution.

Sorry, but it's your only one!
Hi,
Your house hold insurance should cover it. Either that or take out phone insurance and claim in a few months.
Thanks
B
I am not sure about T-Mobile, but o2 let you take insurance out in the first 2 weeks. Look on the web and if you are too late give them a call..... ask them when you will be billed for the insurance as you cant see it on your first bill and you did ask for it when you bought the phone.
Failing that there are may 3rd party companies that will insure phones/pda's/laptops, google for it and give them a call......

I think you have to replace the whole screen anyway?... maybe not. I dunno.

[email protected]! what an unhelpful post! They are available on ebay for around £120, easy to fit, just be careful the part you buy matches the part number of the original screen - some sellers say the magician screen fits, my supplier says it doesn't.

Thanks for all your help guys - I did try calling T-Mobile about insurance saying that I though I'd selected it when I bought it online, but they wouldn't budge on letting me insure it after 2 weeks and sounded pretty sceptical from the start :?
I contacted HTC directly and they're quoting £94 to replace the screen and for shipping both ways which I guess is fairly reasonable - especially after the great suggestion of buying a new one at £200+
Just thought I'd update you incase anyone else is as unfortunate as I was.
Not sure if I'm allowed to post contact details for HTC on here - so anyone needing to contact them, just PM me.
Thanks again for the suggestions

That's actually very reasonable considering your warranty remains intact as well. Cheapest price online is now about £95 for the screen alone! HTC will only deal with t-mob/orange branded items from experence though.

anyone know where I can get replacement parts 4 my MDA in the US. sorri to hijack the post but I figure since u are already on the topic of replacment parts I would give it a shot.
I cracked my touchscreen as well. If I can get the part, I think I can do the replacement myself. Anyone know where to get one?

T mobile G1 on ebay

Hello there,
I started searching for a Dream G1 and i found this announce on ebay :
http://cgi.ebay.com/T-MOBILE-HTC-G1..._trksid=p4295.c0.m299&_trkparms=|293:1|294:50
Can someone tell me what's the problem ? Can I buy it to use it or is it useless ? Thanks
PS : I'm french so forgive me if my english isn't perfect^^
yeah, it shoudl work fine! all that needs to be done is a factory reset and you will be able to register the phone just fine without getting the error the seller is getting.
Are you sure about that ? If yes, thank you very much ! I can finally get this phone^^
You're too late, I already bought it
hahhaa jk. Yea, you can do a reset or just reflash the rc29 or rc7, root, and flash your rom of choice.
Lol you scared me ! Thanks for your answer. I'll take it, but for the moment i wait my refund 'cause i bought a G1 on ebay and the seller hasn't it... So I wait on him now and as soon as possible i'll take this one !
How can you guys be sure that a hard reset will solve the problem?
Usually get this message when a non t-mob sim is in and the APN hasn't been set up. Easy to get around as you just press menu and then add apn and enter the settings.

because i had this same problem and all i had to do was reset the phone to factory settings and things worked out just fine!
On the flip side of that, could have a bad radio and be unable to communicate with the G1 servers due to not being able to find a connection.
And if it is a radio problem, is it possible to replace it and then us the phone ?
It would probably be far easier to just look at another fully functioning phone.
On a side note, I messaged the seller and he/she isn't willing to try a hard reset to see if it fixes the problem because the phone is "already packed for shipping". I wouldn't bother buying from someone who's not willing to do this...could be shady.
just make sure you have a data plan on the sim card you put into the phone
Thanks for your answers ! I have found another one which was very interesting :
http://cgi.ebay.com/G1-ANDROID-GOOG..._trksid=p4295.c0.m299&_trkparms=|293:1|294:50
With 8GB SD Card, unlocked, in a very good condition ! i'm very happy and I can't wait to have it (and mod it^^) !
Thanks again to all of you !
You didn't buy that one did you? You can buy one in better condition for around $200 shipped if you're patient!
I paid $195 for one that was a month old and was always kept in a case and with the original screen protector...flawless. There are also plenty on Craigslist that you can deal on...not sure if you can find them in France, but worth a shot.
I see NEW ones in box on craigslist for like $210... try there, better to buy local.
I didn't know Craigslist. (but it is not secured as ebay is no ?) And I already buy the one I show (with 8GB SD Card) I thinks it was a great deal for me : the price I pay was 280$ (with shipping cost), in euro that's about 202€. In France often see this one at about 250-300€.

Spidered screen

So my wife dropped my g1 and spidered the screen but the phone works just fine. As far as I can tell it's just the top digitizer so my question is about this part from bay and if it is what I need to buy.
http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-LCD-Touch-S...Accessories&hash=item335bc7b7c8#ht_3178wt_694
Thanks for your help guys.
Looks like the correct part. Are you sure they arent any cheaper on ebay?
I just looked briefly to try and get an idea on what i need. I will be getting the best one for the best price and for the shortest shipping i just needed to have you guys look at the part in order to be sure i was getting the right one.
Good luck actually getting it. Ebarf is loaded with scammers and ripoffs.
I suggest finding a legit place to buy it from.
Ask around in the marketplace, also try people with bricked G1's who will sell individual parts.

Looking for a replacement digitizer.

Doesnt look like cnn.cn stocks any parts yet. Anyone else find any stores carrying replacement parts.
Here's a site but the only problem is that you have to buy a minimum of 3 in order to get one globaldirectparts.com/T-mobile-MyTouch-3G-Slide-Digitizer-p/htc739590.htm but like me I need one too so who knows maybe we can get more of us to break our screens and we can all chip in.

Well, you guys are 2. Buy 3 and you can probably pawn one off on ebay.
I have spoke to globaldirectparts and right now the digitizers ship from china, also seemed very helpfull. But I got one from ebay which is shipping from Cal.
Have to say globaldirectparts have some great prices, but I needed it quicker then china shipping.
Now if i can only find a disassembly video or procedure...
Well if you find a way to disassemble it and get it back together without cracking
the lcd then please post as this could help everyone here who might need to
replace the digitizer at some point plus it would just be a bonus to see how it's
done.
I replaced the digitizer last night only to find out the new one does not work, so I'm back to the cracked one again.. ;(
GadgetFix is going to send me another one and do have to say they have great customer support!
See my disassembly post at.

Vertical line on screen

All - I have noticed a faint vertical line on my screen. It is about 1" from the left side.
Is it just the screen burning out?
Is there anything that can be done to fix it?
Thanks!
bg
Maybe? You may need a new LCD screen but it's hard to say without a little more in-depth info and pics
slapping you upside the head from my galaxy tab 10.1 P7510
Sorry. Here a photo. Let me know what you think. Thanks!

That does look like hardware damage. Take it in for servicing...or fix yourself if you have the skills and ambition
Perhaps a silly question, but
When screen rotates is the line following it?
Cheers

Good question. The line stays in the same spot on the screen when I rotate it.
All - I took the device by Best Buy today. The said it was a hardware issue. They said it is hard to tell what the cost to fix might be. They concluded the most cost effective thing to do would be to buy a new tablet rather than put $$$ into it.
So Best Buy couldn't tell you what it would cost to fix it, but advised you that you'd be better off buying a new one? Amazing how they came to that conclusion without knowing the repair cost. And of course, they just happen to have a nice selection of devices from which you could choose, right?
I'd send it back to Samsung and get an actual quote before you do anything. That way you can make an informed decision rather than taking the advice of a retail store who would rather sell you a new device than be bothered with repairs. Then I'd probably try to "persuade" Samsung to cover the repair even though its out of warranty (I assume).

Thanks rjohmit - I think I will call contact Samsung & see what they will do. Only issue I have is I currently have my e-book for college on my tab so I can't afford to be without it for a week or to :{
