Hi
I'm having so many issues with my new HD2 i think i must have the unit they were using for footie practise in the stock room.
Anyway i got my unit from Handtec last week. It has been completely unstable but here's a list of what's happen just this morning...
The Sense music player, previously working fine stops working after i placed some additional mp3s on the sd card - pressing the music icon on HTC Sense results in HTC Sense restarting - every time. Only resolved by a hard reset.
Multiple occurrences of "A problem has occurred with device.exe" , i think generally when i try to turn on the phone connection but i'm not sure of this is always the cause or not.
The phone radio connection goes off and wont turn back on despite going into comm manager and pressing the on/off soft button multiple times.
I press the power button button to bring the phone out of stand-by and it goes back to stand-by a second later, over and over again. I haven't even got time to slide the unlock icon across the screen. Then finally after a number of attempts it will either stay on, or put itself through a soft reset without me having initiated it.
How long does it take for HTC Sense to load on others phones? It can take mine minutes to move from the Loading HTC Sense screen to showing the actual Sense interface.
After a hard reset and allowing the device to fully boot up, i promptly got "A problem has occurred with device.exe" as soon as i tried to turn the phone radio on. this is before doing ANYTHING else after a hard reset.
I then got "A problem has occurred with filesys.exe" when trying to get weather for the first time. then the device shut down. Then it went back to the behaviour of going to stand by 1 second after turning iton. This is all within the first 2 minutes of a hard reset.
I really haven't one anything to this phone. It still has the same ROM that it has when i received it - 1.43.70124 from memory. I would tell you exactly except at the moment its refusing to open the 'Software Information' screen in Settings-About Phone. It just freezes up instead (that's a new bug in the last 5 minutes, woot!)
Does anyone have any ideas? i'm hesitant to put the 1.48 rom on in case i need to return the unit and they refuse due to me changing the rom.
Thanks.
My advise is to flash it with the same ROM version. Maybe the ROM is corrupted. If that still doesn't work, get a replacement.

The Sense Music Player on my HD2 crashes everytime it's tab is selected when there are music files on my memory card. Since I need music on my phone, I disabled the Music Tab and got Conduits Pocket Player instead. Works great, and is fast and smooth.
Never had a problem/error message on my HD2.
I'm also using the 1.43 ROM, got mine from eXpansys.
Try doing another hard reset and see how it goes... It shouldn't be spitting out fault messages after a hard reset...
The sense music player seems to have a problem if you load too much music into a memory card at any one time. When I first got my 16 gig microsd card, I decided to fill it up with music, and when the sense music player tried to scan what was on it, the whole sense interface just froze and I had to soft reset ny phone.
I found a temporary solution to the problem by having the computer connected via ActiveSync and just transferring the files over whilst the sense music tab was open. This way, the program can sorta scan each song as it is being added rather than bomnbarding it with a whole heap of songs at once and causing it to crash.
By doing it this way, I've managed to put around 7 gigs worth of music on my phone. I hope htc fix this soon as well as it is obviously another bug with the phone.
Hey, don't be disheartened; my first set was like that as well. device.exe error on the first boot up, and pretty much your experience. Slow Sense UI loading, unstable device, etc. Get a new set if you can.
You only have one option- send it back
It's patently a hardware or initial ROM fault. Don't bother with trying to flash a new ROM, just get in touch with Handtec for an RMA

Thanks for everyones advice, its appreciated.
Attempting to flash the same ROM onto the device is a good idea, too obvious to occur to me! Out of interest, if I was to flash the 1.48 WWE ROM and it didnt fix anything, would it allow me to downgrade to the 1.43 WWE ROM again? or would the installer scream at attemptoing a downgrade?
It may well be a hardware error though, there's so many things going wrong. But then you would think a hardware error would stop it working at all. Maybe its some dodgy memory... well im going to try flashing 1.43 for now and will wait for advise on the upgrade followed by possible downgrade idea (in case i need to return it - trying to avoid that as im in Oz and trying for a replacement to the other side of the World at Xmas just sounds like a bad idea).
Thanks
stick on 1.43 and just wait until an official update has been released,
Why would you want to put yourself into such situation. Don't mess with the device. If you flash it with 1.48 and fail to downgrade whatever the reason is, you will void the warranty. Flashing 1.43 should tell you if it's a software or hardware error. If it's not a hardware and 1.43 solved the issues, you're free to do whatever you want with 1.48

I also had this problem, found it was nothing to do with the above, there was just one song that it didnt like the file name off. It had % and a few other sybols in it, changed the name it was fine.
Just wanted to update my own thread.
I tried reinstalling the 1.43 ROM completly as suggested and it seemd to solve most of my issues for a few hours then they all started showing up again along with more new ones... but...
I then went and bought a replacement SIM card from my carrier as my old sim was 6 years old. Put it in the phone and hey presto, my HD2 has magically come good! About 48 hours now, and considering i couldn't go more than a few hours previously without having to pull the battery, soft or even hard reset, im calling it fixed!.
Now i have no idea why an old sim would affect parts off the system that are not to do with making phone calls but all i can say is a new sim has solved all off the freezes, glitches, basically evrything. The device is just stable now. So my advise to anyone who thinks they have a bad 'un, at least try replacing your sim before returning it.
Oh and the old camera patch seems to be good as well.
I do love a happy ending.
LOL, windows mobile is never stable, I buy it just for fun.
you might want to edit the title of the thread now that your problem's solved so everyone can learn from your XP

Yep, if there is a foreign letter or some odd character in the title/artist/album of a song, it can cause manila to crash

Thanks for the update. Good to hear you're happy with HD2 now .
Hi guys,
I upgraded today to an HTC HD2 and I'm loving it, but I'm having a bit of a problem. I was using "The Missing Sync for Windows Mobile" to sync an iTunes playlist to the phone... my computer completely locked up after another app threw a wobbly, so I had to force a shutdown and reboot. Since I did that, the "Music" app crashes HTC Sense. Nothing else is giving me problems, just "Music"
I've tried resetting the device, removing all music, resyncing, and I can't seem to get it to work...
Any ideas?
Hi,
you could try to remove/rename
\Application Data\HTC\AudioManager_Eng\AudioManager_Eng.vol
That helped me when I screwed my Music Tab last week
My Mac also crashes every time after a few minutes of syncing. When first removing the phone and then shutting down the Mac hard (button) there are no problems on the phone, but it's annoying becasue only approx 10 songs are synced every time,.
I just connected my earpieces (Creative EP-830) and entered the music tab. Then I started to play a song, put it in sleep mode and all of a sudden it starts to skip songs from 1 to the next but it's also fast forwarding every song! Also when I press pause to stop it, it just continues again over and over again when I press pause. Not only this, it also started to call people when I wasn't even touching it. It was just lying on my desk!
I hope someone can help me!
Thanks.
Installed HTC HD2 Music stability fix from HTC support page ?
I'll try it out and report the results thanks!
yo, any results by now?
if i connect other headphones than the stock ones, it occasionally calls the last number i dialed when i put it in my pocket with screenlock on (only when sense music player is active). >_>
too bad i can't recreate the problem since it only happens once in while, but its so annyoing.
could this be related to voicecommand? even when i disabled it, it sometimes reenables itself, when i put it in my pocket.
im running Miri & DINIK ROM v17 (awesome) btw, don't know if it is much of help.

The bug returned but after using the htc music fix again it worked as normal again. So you could say it's working.
Two days ago I had the same issue with my device.
Didn't know about the music fix, but i found the problem!
I changed all the audio-file associations with the help of coreplayer - with the result, that sense lost it's "files" ... with the same behaviour as you described!!!
another problem occured: None of the sounds were played ... after noon i saw that i've missed several calls, tasks, appointments and so on..
if hadn't recognized that, even the morning alarm would've been of no use!!
i was lucky having a complete systembackup - transferring it to mSD, double clicking and configuring some minor settings - and voila my system ran like nothing happened...
in short - it's probably a re-association problem of sense's services with the audio-formats! (yes, i tried uninstalling an rebooting! )
I had been playing with it, trying to put an android system on it. When I was done, I flashed some other ROM onto it, not sure what...I recall getting frustrated with it when I tossed it into the drawer. Well, now I am wanting to set it up to simply run Slacker Radio and some other streaming media. I don't need it as a phone, just use it as a cheap media player.
So I dig it out, charge it, boot it mess with it for a minute and it reboots. Then I let it reboot and just looked at it. After a few minutes, it reboots....endless cycle. So I did a hard reset. It boots up to where I align the screen and then it goes to the today page, and immediately goes into some automatic customization thing....after which it reboots and reboots...
Okay, fine, I'll flash a new ROM (I found a light one here that has no carrier...perfect). At my current location all I have is a Windows 7 x64 laptop and I cannot get a driver anywhere that I've looked that will work. I can get the phone into bootloader mode, but that of course does me no good if the laptop won't recognize it. I've searched the forums as well as the web, and most of the Wiki for this phone is broke. I'm remembering perhaps why it ended up in a drawer.
Any ideas? Thanks.
Calis
I always flash using the micro sd card. Works great!
can you virtualize xp? then you should be able to see it in bootloader
Hello,
I have a Galaxy S4 which used to run a cyanogenmod install. I have recently moved to what I believe to be stock Lollipop but I am encountering some problems. I am not sure if these problems are unrelated or not so I prefer to present them all together in one place:
1. Random reboots. I am aware Lollipop has had random reboots as an issue for a while now, but my symptoms do not match exactly what I could find on the internet. The reboots happen randomly throughout the day (does not matter if phone is charging or not) and I have noticed they happen a lot more frequently if I am in a space with not mobile signal (but I do have wifi). The reboots happen when in safe mode as well. I have also tried removing the sd card, but that did not improve the situation.
2. Audio sluggishness. I occasionally get slow downs in audio when listening to music or podcasts. I have noticed this both when using headphones and Bluetooth speakers. I am not sure, but I don't think I've ever noticed this when playing audio over the phone's speakers. The audio effect sounds like someone is slowing down a vinyl disc for a couple of seconds. It happens almost exclusively when the screen is off. It also happens more often when listening to music over spotify or podcasts over podcast addict than when listening to music over the Google Music app.
3. Random connect disconnect to laptop. When connecting the phone via USB to the laptop, it randomly seems to disconnect and reconnect to the computer. It happens more often when I try and move the phone (although not consistently) but also when the phone is untouched.
4. Occasional phone slowness. Haven't noticed it happening consistently, but the phone does occasionally seem to take a couple of seconds to reply to simple commands, like, say, displaying a list of all open apps.
One of my concerns is that I might have the wrong firmware/baseband installed and that might be causing issues. Is there a way for me to check I haven't done something stupid? What is the easiest way of posting my system config here?
Thanks!
