Updating my NAND android - Touch CDMA General

I've been using android for sometime now, and I really like it. I flashed to NAND from the project "vogue-android" that was originally on Google Code but then moved to Sourceforge.
I did this flash about a month ago, but since then, they have released a new rom. How can I simply upgrade the OS without loosing all of my personal settings and files.
I am somewhat of a linux newbie, so go easy on me if this is an obvious question...
Thanks!

I just did this for my first time and came across your message while trying to find an answer. To upgrade your already nand flashed phone is very similar to flashing it the first time.
What I did was I put the phone into boot mode as per "If you fail OR you think you bricked your phone" the message called "New to Android or NAND?" Then I put the new NBH file in the directory with the ROMUpdateUtility as per instructions further up the tutorial. I plugged the USB cable into the phone and ran the RUU.

The proper answer was found in the thread called : Flashable Linux and Android
"3. Rename the nbh file to VOGUIMG.NBH, put it on an SD card and boot the phone while holding down the power and camera keys."

[Q] new to forum need some general help

Ok so i recently traded my iphone 3g 16gb for an HTC HD2, it was running windows 6.5, and it was J-U-N-K..so first thing i did was put CM7 on it..and just now i found a thread that had a patch that would enable wifi calling on the nexus one..i know this is he HD2..i wanna try and see if the patch works on the HD2 or not..anyways i downloaded the zip and on the site it says:
"Now, onto the fun part. This is in standard update.zip format. Simply flash it via recovery, and reboot. Go ahead and turn on WiFi, then WiFi Calling, and enjoy"
one issue is...how do i flash the update.zip, step by step would be appreciated.
Dude, firstly if that update.zip was made for the Nexus it wont work on teh HD2 and will very likely screw your build up.
Second, to have ability to use update.zip files you need clockwork recovery installed and a MAGLDR flashed to NAND so that you can use NAND builds.
Go to the NAND section and read the stickies ther is plenty of step by step guides.

[Q] White Screen at boot up, ROM fails - Hardware or Software

I feel like I have looked everywhere but forgive me if I missed a thread that may answer this.
I don't know if this is a hardware or software issue.
I installed HSPL 2.08 successfully
I then installed MAGLDR 1.13 successfully
Flashed my phone with HD2_Core_Droid_Desire_HD_V1.5_NAND_ONLY_LEO1024_TMOUS successfully
Android booted fine and worked for about a day and a half. My phone froze up and had to remove battery. Now it only boots to white screen.
I have attempted to reinstalled MAGLDR without success
I have attempted to change my HSPL back to SPL to install OEM Rom without success HSPL says it was successful but bootloader screen says different.
I read in a thread that it could be a radio conflict (though I don't know why it would work for a day and then stop) but I can't install a radio ROM. I get Error 207 Image file corrupted.
I have read threads about flashing from the SD card by extracting the signed_RUU.nbh file from the stock ROM, but I have no idea how to do that. I do not have the extract option on the exe file of the stock ROM I download...and I have downloaded several versions.
Please help.

I have no idea what is happening with your phone and why is it happening... But I can tell yoy one thing. Whenever I had any problems when phone would not go further one step, I would do TASK29 and follow all the steps all over again. TASK29 is sth like wiping everything off your NAND. Hope it helps.
I kind of think this is a hardware issue... My boys did the same thing... Never got it back up and running.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
what about the radio ?
do task 29 and flash radio if you haven't (ignore if you did it earlier) then install MAGLDR and flash the rom from within MAGLDR or follow whatever instructions the developer has posted in his thread.
I too have tried everything and although magldr and wm6.5 both flash from sd, still wsod. My advice is take it to tmobile, and talk them into admitting its a hardware problem ;-)

I forgot to mention I did try the Task29 and it too failed. So I am thinking it is a hardware issue.
UPDATE: I figured out where to find the .nbh files in my temp folder and was able to copy and paste them to the SD card. I have also gotten to the image load screen to flash the leoimg.nbh file. However all of them fail at RADIO and subsequently fail the update. I have tried new and old stock ROM and the Radio ROM by itself. I also used the Task29 nbh file and was successful in flashing that from my SD card ... but the HSPL is still there at the boot loader screen.
I can't seem to figure out what is causing the fail.
Thoughts anyone?
Sorry
HD2_Core_Droid_Desire_HD_V1.5_NAND_ONLY_LEO1024_TM OUS successfully
Did you check is this version quiet similar to your phone's hardware configuration
Ram 1024
My version is compatible. Again, it was running fine. In fact, I have a phone previous that I installed it and it worked beautifully but I dropped and shattered the screen. When I got this new one (same model) I performed the installation the exact same way. It worked a day and a half and then froze.
Based on other searches, it looks like I may have bricked my radio.
UPDATE:
I think I was able to solve this and hopefully I won't be as cryptic as someone else who had a similar problem. Don't Give Up is good advice however attempting the same time over and over is probably not the best.
This is what I did ... after banging my head at the redundancy.
I used NBHExtract from the NBHExtract forum on the Stock ROM T-Mobile_HD2_MR_Software_2.13.531.1 that I downloaded from T-Mobile. This extracted all the .nb files and thankfully they were well labeled.
I then used the NBH Creator from the NBH Creator forum (yes you will have to register to download this application.)
In the NBH Creator I used the settings provided to me in the NBHExtract window and used the SPL, Splash, and OS only ... leaving the Radio blank.
I created the leoimg.nbh file and put that on a blank 2Gig FAT32 formated SD card.
Booted the phone in Bootloader.
The update failed however it uninstalled the HSPL
From here I did a Hard Reset to clear the ROM Update failure message on the tri-color screen.
I attempted to update the ROM via USB to the 3.14 version (again downloaded from T-Mobile's site). This got to 4% and failed. I now had the warning triangle symbol on my screen indicating the Software Update failed and to try again.
I tried again however this time with the 2.13 version (the ROM I extracted at the beginning) via USB. This time is successfully installed.
This is probably not a fool-proof nor verified option, however it worked for my phone model PB8112000. It might work for you.
I am tempted to try Android again, however, I don't know if the radio issue was hardware or software.

[Q] Restoring to Factory Settings

Hey guys,
So my HD2 recently started having the same issue a lot of you guys are having with the touchscreen just dying or being very unreliable. This past week I've had trouble getting past the lock screen and today it takes me half an hour to a full hour of attempts to make it past the lock. Once I do, however, the screen works fine until it's locked again.
I'm about two weeks away from warranty ending, so I want to get this bad boy sent in ASAP. A year ago I flashed a custom ROM onto the phone and haven't modified it until this morning when I installed MAGLDR 1.13 and NAND Android ROM. The new ROM worked great but didn't resolve the touchscreen issue at all.
What I want to do is completely restore the phone to how I bought it from T-Mobile US a year ago. I don't want the replacement voided because of the custom ROM, though it clearly has nothing to do with the error.
Not being very technically proficient with this stuff (aside form the dozens of hours I've spent reading up), what is the best way to go about this?
So far I tried doing a Hard Reset manually via the VolUpDown/EndCall button boot, but that just booted me into NANDroid after the reset. I tried downloading WinMo from the T-Mo site, but it's asking for a phone identification number I can't access because of the lack of touchscreen access.
Any help/advice you guys can offer would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance!
You can get the IMEI number from behind the battery to download the rom from t-mobile.
This was explained to me by another member here
Right click the ROM file you download from the T-mobile site and rename the .exe to a .zip and then you can explore the file to find the RUU_signed.nbh file. You want to copy the RUU_signed.nbh file to the root of your SD card (make sure it has been formated to FAT32) and rename the file to LEOIMG.nbh. then place the SD card in the HD2. Boot the HD2 imto bootloader and as soon as you see searching on the screen let the volume down button go. It should ask if you want to flash the imageand you will have to press the end button to confirm and it will flash the ROM.

[Q] First time rom problems...

I have followed post 1 to install this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=101385 as it looks really nice, but all I get is the splash screen and then nothing happens. It's my first time...
I installed 2.08.HSPL, Radio 2.15...?, MgDLR1.13 and the Recovery 3.xx in post 1. I couldn't make the changes that were suggested as the installer said something about cfg not found so I used the original version from the download link.
I copied the .zip file onto my SD card (still has all the winMo 6.5 stuff on it, waiting for another sd card to arrive).
I then started the ad recovery, installed the zip and it was done successfully, but on reboot all I get is the splash screen (htc hd2, NDT series by langthang) and nothing happens. I've waited 40 mins...
What am I doing wrong ?
Any help appreciated.
Did you set the system partition correctly?
I thought so as I had followed the instruction.
However, I just downloaded the HD2 complete toolkit from elsewhere on this forum and repartitioned. It now works.
Thank you !
No problem

[Q]windows mobile6.5 to android major problem

after tonnes and days of reading and digging out infos from this forum, i tried as much as i could to follow instructions here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893948
but then, something went wrong and now my HD2 is not booting up. it is now stucked at the HTC splash screen. i can reboot to get the MAGLDR however.
what i did was, i flashed MAGLDR, as in the first step in the link above.
then i flashed this android ROM:
MAGLDR_Android_2.3.5_Runny.rar
from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1298188
and then the problem started. i'm now searching for a way to recover my phone to the original condition, which was windows mobile. or even better, someone help me solve this and my phone can continue in android. i really need the android because the WolfRam alpha app is not available for windows mobile.
help me please, i'm nearing exams and i need help in my calculus so i decided to take the risk but unfortunately i'm now phoneless and going out of my mind.
thanks in advance
correct spl?
correct radio?
correct partition size?
Radio 2.15.50.14
HARDSPL 2.08
i didn't check the partition, how do i check that?
when you flashed CWM you chose a partition size based on the stated size for the rom you want to flash. it will be in the first post of that roms thread. Use teh nand toolkit, is teh easy way.
EDIT - oh wait, forget that, that rom provides its own cwm, , you have a 265meg system partition, so probably not that, (unless you missed out steps
Download archive with the MAGLDR loader and Recovery from here than unpack its content.
and
Run DAF.exe from MAGLDR_Recovery folder)
still stucked at the black screen with the green HTC words. i tried several times already and it won't start up.
is it possible to wipe the whole thing installed in the phone, and install android to it?
If you flashed magldr then it's all already gone.
I'd try a different rom. Maybe its simply that that rom doesn't like your phone for whatever reason.
Pick a rom
Enter magldr - USB flasher
Flash required partition size using the nand toolkit
Enter magldr option 8 ad recivery
Choose flash zip from SD - choose zip
Probably a stupid suggestion - but have you checked the battery pins? Make sure they're not bent in anyway and that the'yre making contact with the battery.
@samsamuel;
you were right, the ROM hated me :'(
i changed to using the coredroid ROM and everything worked thank you very much!!
@MrFoxx;
i checked the battery pins, and they were indeed bent! but it didn't give me any problem
